Vepr - Call of Duty Ghosts Weapon Guide

In this episode: the Vepr - a Ukrainian adaptation of the AK-74 design into a compact bullpup configuration.
Its name translates as 'wild boar'.
The Vepr's Per-shot damage is low, although like all other SMGs you will kill in three shots to the body up close - or two headshots.
Effective range is about average for the SMG class, and the Vepr's minimum damage is quite good, meaning you'll never need more than 5 shots to kill at any distance.
Rate of fire is average for the class, at 869 rounds per minute: and while other SMGs might outperform you in this regard, you'll barely break a sweat when facing off against assault rifles at a close range.
Hipfire performance is good too, with spread identical to all other SMGs.
Recoil is quite mild, with the Vepr proving very controllable under automatic fire - enough to compete with some assault rifles at a middle range.
This hybrid performance is reflected in the Vepr's handing, unfortunately - as aim time is a little slower than average, at 250 milliseconds: exactly halfway between an SMG and assault rifle.
Mobility is uncompromised, however - as you'll move at 100 percent of the base speed.
Magazine capacity is the highest in class, at 42 rounds - with extended mags taking this to an even loftier 63.
The Vepr is an easy to handle SMG that has a blend of high output with generous magazine capacity.
No other SMG can match its default magazine capacity of 42 rounds, and this means you can more liberally dispense your supply and still retain enough for multiple opponents per reload.
The low recoil is a boon, too - while damage is relatively low it remains simple to direct fire even onto targets outside typical SMG ranges.
However, like all SMGs you will struggle to directly compete against other weapons at a mid to long range - and in many cases you might be better off avoiding conflict until circumstances fall in your favour.
Take the path less travelled and seek to strike from the side or rear of your opposition.
The Vepr is a little slower to react than some other SMGs, too - with its slower aim time and otherwise average handling, your reactive fire ability might not always be up to snuff.
Still, the weapon is easy to handle - and as a result certainly more versatile than most alternatives in its class. - Hry

Vepr isn't an SMG. An SMG by definition should fire a pistol round, the 5.45x39mm round used by the Vepr isn't as such, thus the Vepr is an assault rifle. Classic CoD...
Even if the Vepr was an Assault Rifle you are wrong its a Rifle not Assault not Defense not a stick it in the wall Rifle its just called a Rifle. Assault Rifle is a stupid way to get people to think it is for assaulting . ITS CALLED A RIFLE!

An assault rifle is a rifle that fires an intermediate rifle cartridge. It is also capable of selective fire and features a detachable magazine. It is called an assault rifle after the German Sturmgewehr which translates to "Storm rifle". Storm is this case is meant as storming or assaulting. Rifle merely means a shoulder-fired firearm with barrel rifling.
Erik Salas Im pretty sure its technically a Carbine, but TBO classifying weapons that fire intermediate rifle cartridges is becoming more difficult with carbines and some PDWs also using those rounds.

The term "assault rifle" is accepted by literally all firearms experts, and if you look up the term, you will find the Vepr fits these categories, thus defining it as an assault rifle. The term 'rifle' is more of a general term, then there come more specific branches of the term such as the assault rifle, battle rifle, sniper rifle and designated marksmen rifle (among others) each with its own defining categories. The Vepr, my friend, is an assault rifle, though you still wouldn't be wrong in calling it a rifle.
***** It's an assault rifle mate, carbine refers to barrel length, not the overall length of the weapon. This is the advantage of the bullpup layout the Vepr uses, it allows for the user to keep the same barrel length, but in a short package. The Vepr has more or less the same barrel length of the AK-74, just it's bullpup layout means it's a more compact weapon. So it's still an assault rifle, as its overall length still isn't short enough for a PDW either. :)

I like attaching the muzzle brake and extended and just using the speed perks, honestly i love this class for rushing and by the time enemies get to your location, you can already be somewhere else
Extended mags gives you 60+ more rounds overall so that's the way to go with this and other weapons with big magazines. Great video

it may be to do with the country it is from, altho many languages use the same or simular alphabet as english there letters can sound difrent and have difrent properties to those of english letters

If I'm not mistaken the real world VEPR has a lot of civilian models in all sorts of calibers, up to the beefy 7.62x54R. which would make it a battle rifle. The ingame depection confused me because the first VEPRs Ive seen were i.r.l. and big. At any rate, great video as always stu

I like the vepr with the attachments of foregrip,muzzle brake, AP rounds. The foregrip to tame the muzzle brakes increased recoil and AP rounds to increase its original low damage. Use muzzle brake to increase its range would find it useful for this SMG.
Ever since the Ghosts series started none of your videos have shown up in my sub box. I've never had that problem with any of your previous Black Ops weapon guides. Now I see why people are so frustrated with the sub boxes all the time.
The Vehper is more in the category of a Personal Defence Weapon rather then an SMG. He did say that it was similar to the P90 in terms of Capacity
I use the viper with grip, rapid fire, and silencer so i kill quicker quietly.my perks are sleight of hand, ready up/or quick draw, steady aim,and hardline

On my Vepr I run a foregrip, ap ammo, muzzle flash combo, though im probably going to get rid of my xtra attachments perk and use amplify, mainly because since everyone else seems to use it, I might as well.

It's technically an Assault Rifle, but the Ukrainian Government has classified it as an SMG.
Back in Black Ops II, the Dead Silence perk didn´t just muffle your footstep sounds... It also muffled your character speech. Instead of shouting "cover me" or "enemy in front", your character just stayed quiet. This was extremly important for stealth knife loadouts in S&D mode.

Try this gun with rapid fire. Trust me. The recoil is a bit stronger (not by much), but it melts people at close and medium ranges.

I always thought that because the vepr wasn't used at all that is was going to be bad so i waited for the stats and was surprised.
Hey guys,could someone tell me who's better Vepr or Vector?both kill in 3-5 shots,but the Vepr fires faster,has lower recoil(in the words of XboxAhoy),higher mags,beside 3 shot kill range,and damage(since both weapons kill in the same amount of shots,wouldn't vector's extra damage be overkill),both have equally good iron sights,so,why vector is considered the better SMG?

its so good with a muzzle brake and fore grip
Man, this weapon was probably the hardest for me to get the No Attachments camo for out of the 10 or so weapons I did it for. I just couldn't figure what perks to use, and not having my preferred attachments (rapid fire and suppressor) really hurt me a lot here. My K/D spread with it is about -50 because of it.
This is def a bullpup AK74 with a 415mm (16.34") barrel, so it would be an assault rifle, not a sub gun or even SBR. The Honey Badger however, def would be an SBR or sub machine gun. Also, per the website, for the IWI X95 (MTAR-X) to be an SMG it would most likely be the 9mm variant, which it isn't modeled after... Cyclic rates are always severely fictional as well. Like the FAD & VEPR. If they had their real life cyclic rate, they would probably just use the SCAR-L and AK-12 and use other rifles with faster rates of fire like the FAMAS, F2000, M4A1, ACR, etc.
Well, not everything goes after american definition. The official site of the ukrainian government classifies it as an smg. It meets all standards of an assault rifle, but it seems like the ukrainians trat it as an smg. And yeah, the rate of fire in the game is crap, in reallife its 600-650

And I must ask - has it never bothered you that in CoD games many weapons were put into incorrect categories? Carbines have always been misclassified, but inconsistently. For example, the M4 is classified as an AR, but the AKs74u (BTW, the "s" in the name has been repeatedly omitted by devs) is classified as a SMG. And now they're classifying the Vepr, a proper AR, as a SMG?

M4A1 (because just the M4 is the burst version) is a carbine like the AKS-74u and the MTAR.
I know it's a carbine. Which is why it ticks me off that it's put into the AR category, when the AKS74u, also a carbine, is classified as a SMG.

Bizon: equip wih Silencer for CQB
CBJ-MS: equip with Silencer for maximizing the anti-killstreaks role
VEPR: equip with the Silencer for everything

logic: no integrated silencer = beast with silencer.
they need to nerf the silencer. it's everywhere and in every cod the OP gun was largely equipped with a silencer (MW2's UMP, BO1's Galil, MW3's ACR, BO2's AN-94). something must be done about this and i think the most effective one would be a BF kind of balance (not a BF fanboy, i hate BF3!): you have stealth, but you lose range, hipfire precision and bullet penetration. This would decrease the suppressor effectivness in CQC.
shoryuken96 NONE of those guns are OP. Maybe you´re just not very good at FPS games? Also, you DO lose range with the silencer on.
the fact that i'm not good at FPSs is ok, in fact i'm not. but MW2's UMP45 was OP (2 hit kill with SP nearly any range), the Galil was OP (no recoil and a montreous range), MW3's ACR was OP (no recoil, absurdic damage and if i get on a 16 gunstreak with a gun, that means it's OP). The fact about the range loss, i know that silencers reduce range, i was just remarking the fact that to all the changes i desire, the range penalty has to remain.

Theyre slightly different, AKU is of lower quality, and its not designed for ergos like the vepr is. But theyre almost the same
