THE 5 TYPES OF SHONEN PROTAGONISTS EXPLAINED

- A detailed breakdown of every famous Shonen protagonist you'll see in every anime!
After years of intellectual weeb research, I have come to a discovery that there are 5 definitive categories every one of your favorite protagonists falls into.
The most popular category that Goku (DBZ), Monkey D. Luffy (One Piece), Gintoki Sakata (Gintama), and Denji (Chainsawman) fall into is known as the "Dumb Guys". Free spirited lovable main characters.
The next category is "The Stoics". Characters like Ichigo Kurosaki (Bleach), Senku Ishigame (Dr. Stone), Loid Forger (Spy x Family), and Light Yagami (Death Note) all fall into this category. They are typically smart, calm, and quiet.
The least favorite category is known as "The Innocents". Very emotional anime protagonists. In this category, we have Tanjiro (Demon Slayer), Izuku Midoriya (My Hero Academia), Allen Walker (D. Gray Man), and Tsunayoshi Sawada (Hitman Reborn!).
Next, we have angry fired-up MCs known as "The Hotheads". We have Natsu Dragneel (Fairy Tail), Eren Jaeger (Attack on Titan), Edward Elric (Fullmetal Alchemist), Yusuke Urameshi (YuYu Hakusho).
This is a comedic take on shonen anime which I have consumed way too much of in my life.

I love the stoics, the intellectuals and the innocents! I never found the innocents annoying. as a girl, i was constantly told to shut up when i was a child and it wasn't healthy, these protagonists made me see that even someone who cries a lot can still be brave and accomplish many things, i found them inspiring. I love the stoics and the intellectuals, Ichigo was my first crush as a kid lol! Senku and Ichigo are so dependable, brave and just so cool
I love scenes where characters are allowed to cry. Like Deku being told that he can become a hero🥹… or Nami finally asking Luffy for help🥹🥹🥹. Yess! Let it all out!
But imo the story has to earn those tears. If you make a character cry just for the drama, then most people aren’t gonna relate and it’ll be kinda frustrating to watch.
To be clear, that’s just a rule for storytelling. I would never ask someone irl to justify themselves while they’re crying. But I definitely would love a reason while I’m on a journey with a character
they are annoying asf deku never stop crying like bruh dont let your enemy see you like that lol same with tanjiro that mf need to see the facts demons con give 3 fks about feelings and love like bruh
@@blacky8987 I dont even like MHA and i know dekus crying is overexaggerated by people lol
@@CursedShinobiClowndidn't he just cry two times or something
In the 80s the shonen protag was the righteous and honorable hyper buff macho man like Kenshiro and Johnathan joestar, in the 90s it was the cool guy delinquet, in the 00s it was the dumb underdog with a heart of gold, and in the 2010s it was the nice guy
upsetting progression
Yeah, I don't like the nice guy era very much. I do like the 2020's more quirky protags though.
what are some good nice guy ones
I think Yuji Itadori as a charcter is actually meant to be more of an anti-Naruro. Or rather, use the Naruto formula to play with the viewers expectation. As you mentioned both of them have the "inner demon" plot point, but Narutos journey shows him befriending Kurama and making his power his own. While Yuji never befriends Sukuna nor finds a way to use his power for himself. Also, Yuji does not see himself occupying any grandiose position, going as far to call himself "a cog in the machine". Which is very different from Naruto's ultimate goal of becoming the Hokage. Unlike a lot of Shonen MC's, I think Yuji is not really meant to he *the* hero, he has never been a charcter with insane abilities or potential to rival everyone in his verse. He is an optimistic protagonist fighting the pessimistic jujutsu world.
I really enjoyed the video! Found you on Tik Tok, excited to see more :)
For sure. JJK is definitely mixing things up and has becomes it's own thing.
@@CallMeMick And that's the problem with JJK, Gege has wayyyy outweighed and went out his comfort zone as a writer and the characters aren't built on properly as a consequence. It's an amazing idea and creative as hell, but Gege, as a writer, just isn't suited to combat something that tall of an order. JJK has multiple HUGE writing issues that cannot be looked passed, and massive plot holes that need explaining, yet they... arent. Especially for such a "short"-ish manga compared to other popular shounen, it has plentiful of plot holes that need to be revisited whether you're a fan or not. Itadori had amazing character writing in Shibuya, but before and after that it felt really lackluster - which is a giant problem with the MC of any series.
@@stoooart I'm actually curious as to what plot holes you're talking about. I can't think of any off the dome but I don't exactly doubt you.
@@TheSteakJustice Gojo somehow being able to mid diff a Sukuna amped Mahoraga while other Six Eyes have died to Mahoraga while not being amped by literal Sukuna.
Higuruma being able to react and even fight Heian Sukuna whatsoever despite only knowing sorcery for 2 MONTHS. Also, his Domain was kinda rewritten to fit Sukuna, the king of convenience, so Sukuna could use his other VIOLENT attacks within a domain that "allows no violence".
Kenny's plan on using all curses to rampage the world "just cuz" is a really weak plot element.
Gojo's anticlimactic ending just kinda ruined his whole mystique and character, not a Gojo fan, it was just really anticlimactic and felt like it was the laziest way to kill him off.
My gripe with all this is that these aren't even "small" plot holes. These are outright huge ass ones that make the world of JJK unbalance, and shows a very large lack in the character writing and world building. Would've been nice if we got more chapters dedicated to characters rather than rushing their backstory before their death, as it would explain a lot more to why and how that character is what they are. I mean Kashimo was written into the story to just... die. Take him out the story and nothing changes whatsoever, despite being one of the strongest characters in the entire verse.
Imo JJK is just a fighting animanga that doesn't really yield much character points and development outside a few characters, and it's a flaw A LOT of people agree on including fans of the show. So saying "but it has good writing", when it doesn't and because you love the show so much is silly. You can like JJK, it's entertaining, but to say omg it's amazing and top 3 and characters are so well in depth is just flat out wrong objectively. Gege made it too hard for himself to write and wrote himself into a corner with the characters currently, just cuz he "doesn't like a character". Toriyama HATES Vegeta but Vegeta got amazing development at the very least, and wasn't killed to push the plot which isn't really going anywhere in the first place.
@@stoooart 1 . Your right my guess is that gojo’s also got amplified by utahime PLUS six eyes ( not a big plot hole..? At best just a lack of explanation )
2. Yes it is a plot hole but it’s explained well enough also it’s was foreshadowed that higurama didn’t know what would happen ( jjk doesn’t explain allot so it’s more to open interpretación what “ no violence means” a weapon? Punch people? But It wasn’t explained for the sake of a twist )
3. Kenny not having a “ strong motivation”. Doesn’t mean it’s a weak plot element like it does it’s job (exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution.) how is it weak? ? Maybe character motivation but not Plot element
4. You can feel that gojo vs sukuna was underwhelming but gojo’s death was very well written like bro needed to die so the plot can move foward gege not liking gojo’s is A JOKE it’s not true he’s wrote him off just cause he didn’t like him. Maybe read again cause you can see how his dead was foreshadowed and payed off ( side note how is it lazy to write him off the story ???? he would be a huge plot point if he were alive the plot points you so much hate!!)
5. Yes it should’ve gotten more character centered chapters
6. Kashimo makes no sense
7. The show only shows like 3 backstories so I don’t get it with “ rushing backstories “
8. JJK HAS GREAT WRITING ( just because it’s got 3 plot points ( which aren’t that important nor big ) doesn’t mean you are gonna ignore all the grest development, characters, villains , themes , power system ) like hell if you can’t get behind a few plot points i would recommend to not engage with any kind of media
9. I agree with allot of these but it doesn’t mean jjk has got bad writing having 1 or 2 plot points is normal
10. Also this is a criticism I would say criticism can still be considered an opinion, just a specific kind. Just like any opinion, it's still subjective, especially when it comes to art and media. So it’s just your opinion it is NOT “ objectively “ it is imposible to critique a piece of media with out byas so it cannot be objective ^v^
I think Ichigo is a mixup of Stoic and Hothead due to his delinquent nature.
True
Ichigo's definitely the smartest of the big 3. Not only does he always have good grades, but he carefully analyses his opponents moves to try to find a way to win. In fact, his Zanpakuto/inner hollow actually chastised him for that, telling him that he ought to rely more on his killer instincts rather than "trying to use his brain to win a fight" in his whole horse-king speech.
@@evanminton8315 That's true in fact his a list of the three smartest among the big three
1) Ichigo
2) Naruto
3) Luffy
But then again you already knew that🤭
Even still I thought this would be fine to make one
Shoot I never had a problem with the innocents, mainly because I cried a lot as a kid. Kids like Tanjiro and Deku always find in in their hearts to be kind no matter what they go through, and I think all young men should strive for that
Nick: Yuji is a Naruto
Yuji experiencing the most traumatic thing a 15 year old has ever seen: *You are my Special*
Yuji is ichigo , not Naruto.
If u watched bleach, u would never say that
The story revolves around death since first ep. Both lost somebody and gained power in first episode through sword or finger. Ichigo is serious and does not have a superficial goal like hokage or king. He just want to protect his friends like Yuji wants to have everyone die peacefully and they both have an inner entity. And I could go on
->be Yuji
->black haired rival
->inner demon
He's still a Naruto.
@@Messy3264 megumi wAs never his rival. He is more like uryu. The time period is modern . They fight monsters ike hollows which evolve like curses and the list goes on.
Naruto has very less similaritied

@@Messy3264 and ichigo has an inner entity too
As far as Gintoki goes, I would probably classify him as a "dumb stoic": a lovable mix of discipline and dumbassery that defies easy categorization. He stumbles through life with a laid-back attitude, getting tangled in absurd situations. Yet, he's also the unexpected mentor who comes through with incredible wisdom when you least expect it. Gintoki's got this emotional depth that swings from goofy to gravely serious in a heartbeat, making him oddly relatable. He's not your typical hero; he's morally flexible, sometimes choosing unconventional methods to get things done, all while battling the eternal struggle of paying rent. It's his blend of everyday struggles and moments of unexpected brilliance that make Gintoki truly unique, endearing, and, without a doubt, one of my favorite characters in all of anime.
gintoki is too nuanced and layered to be classified as a dumb guy
hes not even dumb in the anime tbh he just does whatever he wants

Personally I think Allen Walker is the only shonen heros to do the whole “I want to save everyone” thing right. He’s like a much better Tanjiro in that sense (although I don’t hate Tanjiro)
agreed
definitely agreed, i’ve never seen him as a “crybaby, he’s more that he takes in the emotions of those around him, for those who cannot feel their own emotions. also i just find him so interesting as a character. and i like how he becomes more comfortable expressing himself as the show continues
Agreeed
I don't like Shounen protagonists, but my favorites are:
1. Goku (Dragon Ball) - It brings me a lot of nostalgia and reminds me of my late father, besides the fact that he was always my favorite DB character, I always found him a very interesting character.
2. Yusuke Urameshi (Yu Yu Hakusho) - I really liked his style, I watched Yu Yu at a time when I wasn't feeling so good and I really liked him.
3. Edward Elric (FMA Brotherhood) - I really like his trajectory, I like his development, his personality really captivates me, overall, he's incredible.
I personally like the pure of heart flat character type. This type of character is of course pure of heart. They also always do their best to do hard things the right way. They often are great with all flawed side characters regardless of combo. Lastly they are always opposed by a pure evil villain.
Examples of this archetype are:
Son Goku (DB-DBZ)
Tanjiro (Demon Slayer)
Jonathan Jostar (JJBA part 1)
Luke Skywalker (Star Wars Original Trilogy)
Like Sora from Kingdom Hearts I was going say Gon but the chimera ant arc happens yeah I like those characters too.
Yugi, motu not Atem
@@SuperBabyMario0C Yugi: Yami we can't win. If we do Kiba will kill himself!
Yami aka Atem: Dark migition! full powered attack!!!
Looking back at it, Atem was learned from Yugi just as much as he was from Atem 🥲
Ichigo is a smart guy who does dumb shit.
@cryptzelive6289
Honestly, I used to think he was a stoic. Then I thought he was a hot-head... but since I _still_ haven't watched it so now idk 💀
He’s practically a combination of a stoic and hot-head.
Absolutely hysterical timing on talking about how derivative Narutos can be while showing footage of Sukuna, good stuff. Manga readers you know what's up
Allen does fit into the “innocent” category because of his emotional moments but the difference between him and Deku is that while hes emotional he still manages to not be a crybaby. But considering what he’s been through I wouldn’t blame him if he was one 😂. He’s also willing to
Ichigo is more of a hothead at the beginning of the show but becomes more of a stoic as the show goes on. It's interesting cause its pretty rare for a main character to change archetype like that. Risky too because generally people will be attached to how the character is and not want them to change. I remember people complaining that ichigo became all emo and lost emotions after the soul society arc
Gintoki is a cross breed too and not just a dumb guy and light yagami is a bit of an intellectual on top of being stoic.
And naruto and asta have elements of dumb guy to them while yuji doesn't as much. ichigo has an inner demon, luffy has a dream to become the greatest and i think yuji is more of an ichigo than a naruto so theres a little wiggle room with these. But they are mostly on the money.
Good video dood :D Nice break down of archtypes I never considered them.
Also awesome video. Personally I like the stoics mixed with a little sadness best.
Cheers!
great video, loved the concept and editing. cant wait to see more, subscribed!
Thanks dude!
I prefer anger to sadness as a defining emotion. That's my addition to your research.
Aw yeah! Some Spy X Family recognition! Mad props for giving Twilight a shout out. Loid’s definitely one of my favorites from the protagonists you mentioned. He’s such a breath a fresh air in that he’s an adult, a family man, a very competent, cool, and capable one, and that one of his compelling character arc is centered around his stoicism, learning to open up more and it makes sense to since he’s a spy.
Tanjiro is also another one of my favorite you mentioned since emotional but not in an ineffectual sense. Thank you very much for such a great video!
Not really sure how much Allen fits in Innocents though. And he really isn’t that much of a crier honestly. Like at all.
Either way though, goated character, I love him.
It feels fair to say a protag can be further along on each of these spectrums, but ultimately have a dominant disposition. You did a great job identifying them.
Bro how do u only have 3k subs this was a really good video
Thanks, dude! I'm not very consistent with posting, but I'm tryna change that this year.
Instant thumbs up for mentioning Allen Walker! D.gray-man was and is my favorite anime from my youth 😌
The filler writers try to make Naruto more into the Goku type and drop down his IQ way down.
Deku and Tanjiro never annoyed me with their crying. We had far far worse with Shinji Ikari or several Gundam pilots.
In my opinion, putting Gintoki in dumb guy category is just doesn't feel right to me.
Gintoki.....is an unique case.
Unlike another shonen MC, he's already an adult; means he's more mature, don't let me explain the basics.
I've lost count how many times he solved his friend's problems by himself.
Like how he cracked down the whole gang when that bastard scammed one of his friend, protecting a city legend instead of cutting him down by breaking his sword, or kneel down face on the ground before Special Police Force and one of the strongest clan, begging them to protect his friend while he's trying to save someone dear to his friends, and the list goes on..
My point is, I just wanna let people know that Gintoki is a lot more complex and better than that.
And, yeah, he's frickin stupid and being lazy ass most of the times, but he knows exactly when to get serious when shit start to get real.
Yeah hes more of a stoic but not really id say he has another personality like he fits in the Other category with onizuka
Allen Walker is an “innocent” with a slight hint of “stoic” and “fiery” to him. He has emotional parts but he’s also much more mature then Deku and Tanjiro, arguably more mature then a lot of the MCs here I’d argue. He never really cries much either but he does get “emotional” over someone dying that he could have saved.
Allen is easily more mature than any mc mentioned here and easily the best character too
and who wouldn’t get emotional over a death? he’s an extremely relatable character despite his surreal life and inhuman status
Stoics>>>>>>>
Yusuke and Allen >>>>> Ichigo
Agreed @@dc7981
The way i see the "naruto" character architype is, offshoots of "stoic" and "hotheads", these architypes grows to fix their act and become very principle driven, and become respected by their community.
Imo i think edward elric fits this architype, a hot head with a hint of stoicism that learns responsibility and eren is the antithisis of this character type.
i would say Split Ugoki from fire games origins, this one normally sits in the basic kind dumb guy category but what makes him cool are his friends and how he made a team with those characters (Max Krator being a very serious stoic character who has a disproportionate sense of honor [he was the first antagonist but split did convince him to join him, he can be soft and kind hearted when he calms down from his anxiety], and Marussai Darkorr evolving from a hot head villain to a crybaby protagonist before regaining his confidence troughout the story and becoming once again the hot head with anger issues he was in the beginning but in the good side.) so i would say that my favorite protagonist is more this team than a single character because they shine and brings joy to the dark world they live in besides their sad backstory, all the three having the role of the comic relief, the serious fighter, the savior, the weak, the powerhouse ect… all having strong and weak moments, their powers completing each other’s weaknesses, they all are important to each other and are real friends who makes this series so cool with all the humor, the epic fight scenes and the sad moments bringing the perfect balance between funny serious and emotional. all leading to an incredible final plot bringing all this story to an end, letting the other prequels and sequels kick in with the different unforgettable ambiences and the incredible world building of the fire games series
(these series aren’t available yet 😅 fire games origins will start pretty soon in the format of a comic and will probably be animated later. i’m very excited to publish it 😅)
(sorry for bad english, i’m french but the series will be translated)
I feel like ichigo belongs in almost every single one of them (especially early part ichigo fighting everyone is definitely hot headed type)
I can't really tell when your joking and being sincere. But it was very well done and definitely entertaining 😁
Thanks, mate! Probably 90% joking.
i’m glad allen got a mention… even though you forgot his name lol
edit: i also find it funny how allen went from hit head to “crybaby” type after his traumatic event
Yuji has way more in common with Ichigo than Naruto. Even their personalities designs and goals are almost the same. The only difference is that Ichigo is more stoic.
I like the vid but I wouldn't call Yuji a naruto because sukuna isn't like kurama, he isn't going to be befriended and throughout the entire story has probably been more of a detriment to Yuji than a benefit to him. I would probably put Yuji as a hybrid of the innocent and the dumb guy early on but in season 2 he becomes more stoic
I find a well done innocent like Tanjuro outclasses any hothead BECAUSE all too often the hotheads are used as comedic characters like Edward’s short fuse. But combine the two? That leads to Shinrs from Fire Force. A hot headed fool he innocently assumes finding his brother will solve everything. He charges full speed ahead with a singular mindset that starts to branch out a grow into a multidimensional protagonist that learns a single epic sacrifice or a bandage over a festering wound won’t solve anything. It is better to work hard and suffer the cleaning process to allow stabilization than a single one and done fast fix
Mash is stoic and innocent also Saitama. The OP chill guys. Innocent with childhood trauma. Like Shinji Yuki Shouta Touta. Aka the ara-ara enjoyer
So Gege tricked us into thinking Yuji was a naruto huh. Impressive how Ichigo can fit in nearly all categories just like in the series, he gets mad pretty often, is somebit dumb, somebit stoic and has demon inside him.
Glad mine favorite Anime protagonist is none other than The Caped Baldy
Not just ONE created him in a different way but the entire OPM verse is different too
I must say that Protagonists in General I usually tend to dislike or like less than the Stories respective Villain(s)
but my least favorites are certainly the archetype of extremely dull but somehow extraordinarily gifted or powerful
they are just really frustrating to witness in general
I don´t mind the crying/emotional ones that much but much of it depends on the script I´d say
I have to say my favorite protagonist doesn't fit into the categories. My favorite *protagonist* is D from Vampire Hunter D. But my favorite anime character has to be Garou from OPM.
the innocents and the stoics. especially when they suddenly break stereotype for gainz or plot
I dont get how Gintoki is shown to be dumb guy when actuality, he’s quite a good problem solver but the circumstances don’t let him to success professionally.
He's a free spirit
@trongtran8951 yeah, thats what i'm thinking
Yeah, there's quite the number of instances where Gin already has a grasp of the situation before any of the other cast like for example when he played villain during beam saber arc.
Also the fact that they relied on one of Gin's old war strategies at the start of the FS arc. He's too experienced to just be described as the dumb guy
hes not even a free spirit he just does what he wants
Naruto and Asta are underdog characters. (Characters that no one expects any type of greatness from, but are proven wrong). Yuji is sort his own character or a character outside of these tropes. He’s not dumb/clueless, he’s not hot-headed, he’s not a crybaby, he’s not stoic, and that’s what I love about him. He obviously does show these when necessary ofc.
My Fav protagonist is Yusuke and id put in the "Hot Head" category easily. Bro could hardly control his temper and couldnt wait to Scrap with ANYBODY looking for a Beat down 😭
I have had this thought for a while that Itadori shouldn't be in the Naruto group. He has all the characteristics of a naruto clone at the start but then gege progressively flipped his character around. Now itadori feels like a person who lacks sanity, he has lost everything. He went from a kind and funny to a cold hearted fighter. He also hasent used sukanas powers even thought he was suppost to adapt them in his time between sukuna being in his body. I like to think that he chooses not to use them because he wants to deny sukuna and prove him wrong that he isnt weak and that he will regret ever messing with his life. compared to naruto who has the whole village as his friend yuji has a clear diffrence but thats just me.
Is t Naruto just a hot head?
No he's a Naruto. A mix of goal oriented, persecuted, emo-bestfriend-ed protagonist whose ideal is challenged all the time.
I’d say in Part1, he’s definitely just a dumb guy with hot head tendencies w a bit of sadness thrown in
@@alfonsuskristo1624a hothead
What about Shiki Granbell from Edens Zero, Shinra Kusakabe from Fire Force, and Meliodas from 7 Deadly Sins what kind of Protagonist you consider them ?
Pegasus Seiya is my current favorite. I'd say he's a mix of the innocent and the hothead. He has trauma and an "act first question later" personality but isn't really driven by any sort of rage like his team mate Ikki., just a deep desire to protect. And tears? It's Saint Seiya. Manly tears are mandatory. But he isn't a ever called a crybaby like the true innocent of the team. Shun. Nor is he dumb or a stoic. Despite being a mix, he's definitely not a Naruto though because he has no desire to "be the best" that not his ambition. So I'm not sure exactly where he lands, but he is the original determinator whatever category that fits.
I'm a stoic and hothead fan
I don't really find innocents annoying though but if I had to pick a favourite protagonist so far it'd probably be Ichigo or Natsu
I would put Yuji in "the story always against me " category somthing like subaru from re zero
DR STONE MENTIONED LETS GOOOOOO
Though Yuji on the surface shares similarities with Naruto being a loveable idiot with a heart of gold, throughout the series he's become less like Naruto and more like Ichigo where both have the simple goal of protecting others due to their traumatic experience of losing a loved one.
Though unlike Ichigo, Yuji is still outgoing and sociable, but despite that, both characters hide their feelings of guilt and sadness behind their demeanors.
A lot of protagonists can be rather be two dimensional and be categorized into one or two types, but there are those like Yuji who are a little more complex as characters that what they seem as on the surface
My favorite stoic shounen protagonist is Kenshiro from Hokuto no Ken
How would you categorize Sonic the Hedgehog through his games he felt a shounen protagonist in his own right.
lol i was surprised to see ichigo in stoic, he's a goober
I am wanting to add a new character to my story and while watching one piece, I ended up wanting a character like a Shonen protagonist in it, I say like because I already have a protagonist I am not planning on replacing, so instead I will add another character which will be like a Shonen protagonist.
am i weird for having bleach as my fav anime and ichigo as fav character

i normally hate the "hot heads" type but i rlly like edward's character.
This aged well, the demon in yuji is gone good luck "taming" him after he's killed Gojo, kashimo, higuruma, and need I go on?
I feel like Deku is a combo of the Innocent and Naruto, Deku may not have a demon, but he does have the 8 Vestiges of One For All, his ambition is to be the Number 1 Hero, his rival is Bakugo, or Todoroki, which ever you prefer, and the disadvantage he starts off with is his Quirklessness, which is later revealed to be his greatest strength when it comes to OFA because he don't die young where if he did have a quirk he would die young from the strain of multiple Quirks
Luffy is the infinite plot armor & unlimited power of friendship protagonist with an extremely toxic fandom.
I prefer character with sadness. They are more relatable to me and I think the preference is generally based on that

Like I just find his character so cool but yet tragic at the same time. But as for a category I would place him would be tough because Meliodas is very unique from other MCs.Since his not a dumbass like Luffy or Goku neither is he very hot-headed and stoicism I don't know if I can call him stoic.Hmmmmm🤔 maybe but I think Meliodas is more of a misunderstood character rather than a stoic character.😅
I guess the last one is called dramatic
What about goku san
I don't think yuji fits into the Naruto archetype anymore
He do be changing
He's a different take on the Naruto type. He's if Naruto's world blatantly likes the antagonist's ideal instead of the MCm
The Naruto protaginists shout be called Ash Ketchum protagnits because he did that way before Naruto
I don’t know, I see a lot of similarities between Black Clover lead & Luffy. Goofballs with massive ambition…. Luffy just isn’t all that angry.
Real question though is which one Rimeru Tempest falls into. I think a 6th one for power fantasies.
Stoic
tanjiro is an anomaly in the innocent category because everyone likes him, he was a bitch at first but he's been on demon time the past few arcs

I kinda prefer sukuna way more than kuruma cuz idk why kuruma is suddenly a good guy. Because Naruto asked your name? You're supposed to be THE bad guy of the OG Naruto... Like i was on chunin exam and i heard the finale is called great ninja war arc... Bro i was sure you would break free of naruto and start killing characters... WHY ARE YOU HIS BACK UP POWER 😭
I watched 750 episodes to see the demon who killed iruka sensei's parents... I was making theories of you killing iruka and getting defeated by a Naruto without tailed beast chakra 😭
And suddenly we got sukuna who is checking all the boxes. Gege... Let me be your bride 💀
If you actually watched naruto you'd know kurama was never really the bad guy
He was used and that made him hate humans
