💯% agree with this. I for damn sure didn’t want a $600-$700 arcade cabinet. I and many others just wanted to play the game on modern day consoles with decent online play. How hard was that?(Besides the obvious licensing issues with Disney/Marvel.)
thank you COOLTOY for sharing this video with us. i am a big fan of marvel us campcon and wanted to get this cabinet. unfortunately it is very sad how arcade 1 up is not interested in releasing good products to the consumers and we should stop buying trash from them
Unfortunately it’s nothing new for any long time consumers of Arcade1up about the promises for better communication. They have been promising better communication for a long time once they started forming a community around their products which was all long before MvC2 was even announced, but it’s something that they have never been able to follow through on. At the end of the day, they are always quite silent regarding any feedback on their products and they have a track record for not always fixing any software issues on cabinets that have already released and been purchased. They have left a lot of other cabinets with wifi behind that have had several software problems

It's been a few years. Looks like they will never get their shit together. Overpriced, crappy customer service, terrible marketing, crappy cabinet material, same recycled games, less games worth the price. I own 7 arcade 1up cabinets, no issues I was on the FOMO a few years ago. Nothing new. I moved on. But I still like to see what out there

You did the right choice to return it back no arcade 1 up are worth $600 we all know they will go on sale I can care less about playing online there is marvel vs capcom 2 on Dreamcast you can play online or PS3 xbox 360 if you want online play but to pay $600 to play online just makes no sense

I REALLY want you to know how important your review of Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 was to me. If it wasn't for you, and others who made it a point not to sugarcoat the issues with this machine, I would've built mine and probably be stuck with it. Instead, I never took mine out of the box and got a refund. This was my new strategy to combat Arcade1up's FOMO Hype messaging. So as not to miss out on a possible cool cabinet, preorder it from a place I could return it, hear some reviews from people who I trust, and if they were positive, build and keep the machine, and if they were negative, simply take the unopened box back and get a refund. I hate that you had to go through all the extra work, taking it apart and repackaging it to take it back, but just know, I so appreciate it, letting us know the real deal, saving folks real money, time, and in my case, completely avoiding the feeling of regret since I didn't keep it.
I like to think you and I have been in the trenches from the beginning with this whole "Home Arcades for the average Joe" idea since this first fledgling company called Arcade1up came onto the scene and put new possibilities in our heads. Regardless of the frequent downs, I wouldn't trade the ride for the world as I now have a wonderful home arcade and have met awesome people like yourself along the way. I also like that more competition keeps entering the market. iiRcade and Unico have been some of my favorites and even AtGames has brought a smile to my face from time to time. I don't think Arcade1up realizes they can't keep dropping the ball anymore as there are companies willing to pick it up and run with it.

So happy I could help this community in any small way. I don't mind the hassle of having to pack up and return a machine if it means I can prevent others from having to experience the same disappointment. Here's hoping that Arcade1Up learns to stop fumbling so much, and if not, maybe their competitors can capitalize on their mistakes.
@@cooltoy This video made me want to go play mines lol, the sad thing is that the most entertaining game is too easy on local (time to ramp up the difficulty I guess) and all my friends suck lol, I'm trying to get my roommate to play more on it.
Nonetheless what I'm doing in the meantime is trying out the different gameplay nuances between the games. MvC1 was my favorite arcade growing up (MvC2 were harder to come by), but the other games had a lot of charm in their mechanics too, the newer games feel lighter on their verticality, but the older games had some weight to them. (exit seizure dribble out on mvsh lol)
At the end of the day, I can leave it in my roommate as an awesome showpiece for guests who will ultimately play it. Worth the price to me still, sorry you didn't want to keep yours. Thing is it's a novelty people of my age might appreciate, the younger crowd, maybe not so much...
You were one of the the first channels to talk about Arcade 1up back in 2018 and one of my primary sources for info. Arcade 1up had issues back then and it’s sad to see that they still have not learned anything about how to release a quality product.
The crazy thing about the pre-order situation is that they intentionally moved direct stock over to retailers because if anything happens and the customer wants to do a return it comes out of those retailers pockets and not Arcade 1up directly. Less stock, less loss.
Maybe one day they’ll learn, but I’m not holding my breath. Great vid by the way.

Arcade1Up is exasperating. After 3+ years selling more than 2 million units of high profile IP, the genuflecting seems half-assed at best. The issues they are (not) responding to are egregious - they released products prematurely and falsely advertised their capabilities.
And where are the licensors in all of this? Cha-ching!
Meanwhile, this week Numskull posted a master class on how to engage with customers and explain why it's important to delay launches if a product isn't ready.

Very reason why I’ve kept mine in box. Wait and see. Mines gone back already. Generic answers for delaying (still) with bs solutions doesn’t cut it. I’m officially done with them until there’s a drastic change (if at all) and turning anyone away who asks of my opinion until proven otherwise. Important to note never give into their FOMO or preorder as always.

Ironic coming from one of their biggest liasons. You built the Mvc2 in Vegas you had more hands on time with it than anything. Unless you can admit John D lied to you, you also knew it would not have online play at launch. Which one is it? You've had them on your streams consistently to hype these cabs before AND after they were revealed AND released and you are also responsible for not communicating these issues properly. You have opportunities to address it and you just nod with an empty stare when John D runs circles around the questions. It takes CZcamsrs like CoolToy to give an objective view of these products because guys like you suckle at the teet of the company and then make vague statements about accountability when you are also just as guilty. Notice how CoolToy hasn't responded to you? People can sense authenticity
@@kentuckyfriedkickin5561 I believe when Kong, Michael B, PDubs had that early hands on access, they knew at that point online play wasn't live, because it was a pre-release video. Now whether John D and the A1U team was blowing smoke at that time to the influencers in regards to online play being ready at launch, who knows. But, not having online play for MvC2 and Blitz months after release is some BS. At what point does a class action lawsuit happen because you are not getting what you paid for.?
@@CardinalsLetsGo Of course they knew the online wasn't live at the time of the review the question is did they know it would not be live weeks into it's initial release. If they didn't know, it's because they were lied to which they won't admit. If they did know, they're MORE guilty than the company because they are the ones exacerbating the problem and acting like they're all innocent of it. CZcamsrs and reviewers are a form of games journalism and there's a huge red flag if you're a journalist who takes spiffs from the company you're reporting on, that's called being bought out even if money doesn't exchange hands. These CZcamsrs get spiffs in the form of tips on news, coverage opportunities, inside information, and they use it to grow their channel and get clicks ((which they monetize)). If they want to admit they're not journalists, then they're just... advertisers. It's one or the other, it cannot genuinely be both. The same way Kong R Us either knew about the Blitz situation and is doing damage control, or did not know about it yet won't admit he was lied to.
@@CardinalsLetsGo Also, a class action lawsuit would never take off, the cabs do everything they said they should do, which is "have online capabilities". They saved their asses by Blitz getting leaderboards, and all the marvel games besides 2 work online anyways. You won't win a case because your purchase doesn't do as much as you thought it would. Best case scenario if a lawsuit was started it might make Arcade1up to amend their warranty and actually accept returns, but you consent to that when you purchase the cab so it's a completed transaction. Even then it's an absolute daydream to think a class action lawsuit would get off the ground, because there's no damages done. You wouldn't get anything out of it besides possibly the ability to return your cab if you won the case.

There was never any talk about when actual online play for MvC2 would be released while I was there in person. When JohnD was on my stream, I was actually criticizing the whole MvC2 loyalty list debacle DIRECTLY with him, and then facilitated a rapid Q&A session with the chat, not a direct interview. I'm as authentic as i can be about my own experience so continue to make ASSumptions about me. or go make content yourself so we can sense your authenticity too

They knew before they took orders and didn’t say anything. That’s what kills me. Im enjoying my MvC2 cab, but they did these releases so wrong. Consumers won’t forget so quickly. And they shouldn’t. I am still rooting for their redemption arc.
Yeah the purposeful withholding of need to know information from consumers is just plain disgusting. Sure it got them to get more initial orders up front, but the harm those types of decisions do for a company and their reputation, far outweighs the potential initial profits.

Word bro. I returned mine as well. This company could be so amazing but they insist on consistently putting out products with an Achille’s heel.
It really feels like with each new release there is always a major flaw or exception that prevents the product from being exactly what the customer thought it would be.
I appreciate your input. I'm a arcade fan and have several cabs myself. But now I have to downsize and get rid of my full-size cabs. I was looking at getting a Arcade 1Up to replace the cabs I gotta get rid of. Smaller footprint...etc. But after yours and several other users reviews, I can't in good conscience give Arcade 1Up my money. I'd rather scratch-build my own sit-down system.

When a company is struggling they do everything they can to make a good quality product. The more money they have, the bigger those dollar bill eyes get and they stop caring, and just go for profit. Every. Single. Time.

Game day baby!! Let's go chiefs!! I put a Dell 1715s in mine and it fixed the input lag. The monitor in the cab is 14ms while the dell is 5ms. I also had to swap out the buttons and joysticks because they're crap. There's absolutely no reason why I should spend an extra $300 on the cab just to get it working properly and yet still no online play. Enjoy the game today man!
It's a shame the support is so futile and the prices are doing nothing but increasing for lesser quality products. The novelty of the Arcade 1ups have worn off entirely for me. The products they are putting out seems to be getting worse and much more expensive despite them having a lot of great titles being made available. It begs the question for me, why should we have so many arcade cabinets for games that could be released digitally on game stores? I would love to have Marvel vs. Capcom 2 to play it online but I don't have the room or budget to spend 600 dollars on it.

Im at the point were i only buy 1 up games at extreme discounts. They half ass so much stuff and keep increasing prices with quality being an after thought. Its never ok to sell broken products or out right lie to consumers. They never delivered the pacman 40th updates as promised. They also gave us tron owners the middle finger by not only putting out fragile flight sticks but there fix was to replace them with the same defective sticks. Then if we do buy a game we have to wonder if the online works or if they cheaped out and gave us terrible monitors like on the golden tee xl cab. I honestly see them as money grubbing liars. . I used to love watching all of the youtube arcade 1up guys and reading through the groups. It was such a fun time. Now its all negative because the products are so hit or miss and they lie like a cheap rug. I appreciate your honesty Douglas.It's great to have a person who tells it like it is.
Yeah waiting for the clearance sales seems to be the way to go moving forward. Them charging premium prices for subpar and flawed product and then never following up with promised fixes for their products is not good business. I wish they would change the direction they seem to be heading now, as they come across as just another scummy greed driven corporation that has lost touch with it's consumers.
I returned mine as well. I am now looking into just modding my marvel superheroes countercade with a Pi, putting a DC emulator with MvC2 on it, and calling it a day.

What is John D gonna do? He don't care. Money is printed with these junk plastic toys and he tries to be cool living some rock star life in every interview I see of him smoking and acting out of place or texting/looking at his phone conducting himself unprofessional. This nostalgic act for guys who are 40 wanting to relive a scene that died in the 1990's due to the rise of consoles and Sega Dreamcast is finally coming to an end. Numskull is charging insane prices for the latest Space Invaders machine as well. These Arcade 1up machines are never going to fix issues or care to. They knew they had like a 5 year run in them and made sure to put out as many machines as they could and multiple versions of the same games over and over and over to get suckers to lay out the money to do so. CoolToy guy is being honest here and I like how blunt he is about it. Pulls no punches. The only cab I thougth about getting was the Killer Instinct one and it's on sale for 299 on their site but I'm sure these are returned ones that had dents and other issues that the company sucks at quality control from every forum I read the past 4 years.

Great video, honest and straight forward. I don't know why they don't have a group of players doing some extensive trail and error. So when it comes out, you don't get a video from them informing everyone to relax so they can fix the problems. Trust for Arcade1up is on the decline from the lack of quality. Agree you have my money already and you want us to relax. Haha that will go over like you telling your wife to relax or calm down during a fight.

The legendary Justin!!! I'm still surprised they even got mvc2 in a cabinet. Most lower end emulator devices can't even play it at 60fps!but hope they get those lags fixed. I wish I had the cabinet...
Always enjoy your take on Arcade1up (and other things of course). Do not take sides and do not slam the company or the people that buy the products nor do you kiss up to the company. Just an honest straight forward critique.
They have provided an update for MvC2 to reduce the input lag about a day ago, I think and they have started putting update notes on what the upgrades do, so that is a start, albeit a small one.
As for the online play, I think they could have still released the cabs but just stated that online play was going to be delayed and not available on launch. May have lost some people buying right away, but would have gone a long way to being transparent and earn some trust.
On That 1up Show video Episode 2 at the 16:10 mark one of A1UP employees talks about WiFi being added to NFL Blitz and states that wifi co-op play will be available on all games day one of release along with leaderboards. Since it has been released only leaderboards are available. So hard to trust anything A1UP says at this point.
Thank you for the honest review. I personally was looking forward to this cab. But my last 2a1ups had issues mk 30th my monitor died after a week. My killer instinct the pcb went bad after two weeks. So I was on the fence and was waiting on reviews and. Held out after the rumor of no online. And since your original review I held out and after this I’m definitely not getting it. They have a bad track record of fixing games with issues. So sad because I was looking forward to this.
Yeah that's another reason I returned mine. Just because Arcade1Up says they are going to fix something, doesn't actually mean they will. Their track record for empty promises is pretty extensive at this point in time.

They have have numerous internal shake ups in the last year, and it's definitely starting to show negative affects in my opinion.

I've held off on buying NFL blitz for these exact reasons you stated. Just the lack of communication and effort on arcade1ups part definitely makes me not want to buy it. But if it goes on sale for black Friday I'm buying it haha. I'll pay 400 for the cabinet and just keep my fingers crossed that online will eventually happen.

@@cooltoy ( They made a TON of those machines ) And that is the problem -- they had already committed the funds to build all of those cabs because someone in their testing and development dept. ( if it exists) did not have the nerve to tell them they needed to wait for at least another generation or 2 of SBCs and that the existing hardware just wasn't up to the task - so they needed to wait for some hardware advancement to come down in price enough to actually put out the product they were trying to release - So they went ahead with production and by the time they found out the hardware just wasn't going to make it even with all the software adjusting they had tried they decided to just not launch the online play even though it's advertised on the box rather than holding off the release until they either found a way to overcome the hardware limitations or better hardware dropped in price enough to use it. Probably because they can't afford to sit on a million or more dollars worth of stock. ( same way they had to hold the Charity event to get rid of the stock from last year that got delayed in shipping and the retailers cancelled orders when it didn't arrive in time for the holiday season )
I wish this game gets a full release on PS4/5, Xbox One/Series X/S, Switch and PC. Heck, why not make a collection featuring X-Men: Children of Atom, The Punisher, X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse, Marvel Super Heroes: War of the Gems, Marvel Super Heroes, Street Fighter vs. X-Men, Street Fighter vs. Marvel Super Heroes and Marvel vs. Capcom 1 and a full HD port of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and maybe also make a Switch port of Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

I got a PS3 from a yard sale, softmod it with a USB that's collecting dust and use NoPayStation to get MVC2. That'll have to do until this is upgraded from an Arcade1Up release to a full rerelease on all modern/relevant consoles just like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have with the Cowabunga Collection. Capcom should make good use of using Disney and Marvel properties while it lasts. @@dnangel4277

With the money you'd spend on a 1up cabinet you could make your own with money spare. There's so much DIY videos out there to help if you're wanting to go down this route. You can buy flat pack DIY arcade kits on ebay, same with stick and button kits too. It's what i did anyway.
I returned my NFL blitz cab sadly due to being delivered a busted cab in general but also Expected a cab at that price with all the issues ironed out before shipping. I do plan on getting it again but at a way better price and even if it doesn’t have WiFi capabilities that wasn’t the reason I wanted it. Still enjoyed the game for what it was but wish mine would of came with a better marquee and not broken meaning my screen was damaged so hope they fix the issues and get 100% clarification on everything. All we expect is honesty and being a retired service member. Integrity is a huge thing when it comes to me buying your product. They really dropped the ball on there two last major releases.
Arcade cabinets have become just like retail game purchases. Wait a year for the patches to come out, the price to drop and all the promised features to be released before buying.
And never, ever pre-order. Wait for the reviews!
Initially when arcade 1up came around, I wanted to get one of their machines, but they keep having qa issues.
These issues include input lag, bad speakers, crashes , cheap joysticks and buttons, and so on.
It is because of all of these problems, I do my emulation on the cheap, no Input lag, great sound, no problems.
In hindsight i'm trying to happy this happened the cab was sold out day one Three years later it's still available brand new so I can actually get one

Honestly I think they are done and I doubt they will patch this cabinet until the 2nd iteration of it.

We got it for $399 which was a pretty good deal. $299 would’ve been better. It has the most replay value of all our arcades. We play it like 2-4 times a week.

"We welcome constructive criticism" John D. Interesting take, when they had a falling out with Glenn on the largest Facebook Group and bolted due to the criticism to form their own Arcade 1Up Channel that allows them to only permit the voices they want on that FB group.
Yeah they handled that extremely poorly. Glenn went out of his way many times to help the company and he was treated so poorly in return.

Actions speak louder than words and it's more than clear that Arcade1Up is only in it for the money. Product quality and customer satisfaction really aren't priorities.
Build a PC based MAME cab, theme it in your favorite arcade game(s) artwork and enjoy a much more capable and better performing experience. The results of this will make the learning curve well worth it in the end. /mic drop

Arcade1Up has again proven that it is tone deaf to customer feedback. But they WILL listen to retail chains unhappy about high return rates and resultant processing overheads. Mine has just gone back, too, and I've cancelled my Time Crisis pre-order.
Yep, if more consumers start voicing their opinions with their wallets, then Arcade1Up will have no other choice but to finally start addressing customer concerns.
I really wanted this for Christmas, but wow. I guess I'll stick with Fightcade.

I don't expect the update to drop until next year. This is the time corporate slows down and people go on vacations (use their vacation time) it's about February that they start back up.
That would be absolutely insulting to consumers to take that long to provide updates on a cabinet that arrived in October.
@@cooltoy Thing is it's most likely a hardware issue and they just can't get it done without upgrading the hardware so are stuck because they already released them and can't afford to take another big loss like they had with the gen 1 artwork on the control panel rubbing off after a few weeks and having to send out all those free protectors after it was discovered and buying and sending out thousands of updated PCBs with upgraded hardware will be much more expensive for them - so they are probably hoping to stall long enough and release a few minor software adjustments so that they can just move on to the next release instead of fixing it.
Your 2 cents is well worth more than the money spent on Marvel vs Capcom 2.

$219 blitz at Sam's club, some are getting it even lower, very worth it to me. I continue to enjoy the product at that price point, the 699-999 stuff, I'd have beef too Doug. I do think they have their numbers and I assume their online numbers were worth the risk. The three guys I know have online play, never use the feature. I think they(1up) WILL NEVER say why they shipped with out that function ready that and its just pr talk, but I assume they thought online doesn't work well only 20% use or care about the online so whatever....ship it. I had a dedicated TMNT, X-Men, outrun the last 15+ years and offloaded all in the last 2 years. I don't look back, happy to have the light Ikea version now. :) I findl most people spend 15-20 years in it and then....switch hobbies or focus. Circle of life. Also update: just put it together and at least for me all three blitz games are fully online👌

Arcade1up started pretty poorly with their first cabinets, but they took criticism to heart and got much better about screens etc... and in the last few years, they seem to have gotten worse and worse again while raising the prices more and more (which started before COVID, so inflation's not an excuse). I picked up their Simpson's cabinet when it dropped to 200 a few months back and was horrified by what came IN the cabinet. The button layout seemed like they just decided how the buttons could fit on it without any thought about ergonomics of their placement. The arcade game ran pretty badly and the Bowling game was a supposed 'Demo' that ran like shit and had no sound. Luckily an update fixed both things, mostly, but what if someone gets one of these cabinets a few years from now and A1up doesn't exist anymore. They basically would have bought a piece of trash.
The way Arcade 1up is basically ignoring issues and complaints people have while shoving units out the door incomplete/unfinished is fucking terrible. I haven't bought a cab at full price in a while now (because the prices are stupid insane) and I sure as hell won't do it now with the way they withhold important information about a release, the way they're unfinished, and/or butchered (NFL Blitz) all the while having an insane premium price attached to them.
Hope they can get their heads out of their asses soon, but something tells me, with how long things have been like this and slowly getting worse, they don't know how to or don't care if they do.
Their actions as of late make it seem like they are just another greedy corporation happy to milk the customers for maximum profits, without a care for releasing a quality finished product.
So we will put you on the "undecided" list for the pro series.😆
Also 5:54 .. been saying this for years this company needs a professional PR person to handle all of their commutation. It's been very obvious for a long time they have no idea how to do PR.
The funny thing is they have had like 7 different PR people running the operation at this stage in their company. Every time it's still the same childish mistakes going on.

I got the CounterCade Marvel cabinet from A1Up and it was neat for a few hours but I haven't played it since I got it a year ago and probably never will with how terrible it feels to play with the awful button and stick placement

Great Teddy Ruxbin analogy! It is really ridiculous how so many costumers, content creators, etc. continually keep glossing over major issues with Arcade1Up as if none of these things are a major deal. The company has literally been placating the community with empty promises, delivering unfinished goods at premium prices. None of that should be acceptable.
Got mine from Walmart have till the Jan 31st to return can I bring it back fully assembled I saved the box though.
Most stores will allow you to return the product without putting it back in the box.
I was suckered into wasting $600 on that albatross. The MVC2 cabinet is an absolute disaster!
- Overheating: Play MVC2 longer than an hour and expect a warm-to-the-touch control deck and stuttering…until it crashes.
- Audio Issues: There is a persistent hiss in the audio that can’t be fixed by a cable swap.
- Low Quality Build: That low-resolution Marquee has some serious JPEG compression artifacts! I could produce better print quality with my deskjet printer!
- Fraudulent Advertising: Still no online support for the featured game that’s even promoted on the box!
- Other Defects: Aside from a piece of gunk present between the plexiglass & the monitor that forced me to disassemble it, the “wobble” of cabinet needed more than just shims to make it stable. I also question the control deck layout as it clearly wasn’t designed for two players (too crowded despite its wider form factor).
Don't forget, no online for the marquee title. MvC2 is still offline.

Putting out a product before it's ready and patching it later? Sounds like typical modern gaming to me. That's how it is now, and people will continue to support it because they've already have for years. Shame that these "smaller" companies like Arcade 1up or Limited Run Games get in over their head and end up being as sh*tty as every other gaming company out there. The only way these companies listen is if consumers speak with their wallets, so good sh*t for returning your purchase.

A lot of people were looking forward to MvC2..Crazy they dropped the ball on such a huge release. I hope they are able to fix these issues. The product forgot what made it great, a cheap home arcade.If you're going to add features, you best be damn sure they are going to work day 1 before jacking the price
I’m still shocked that they dropped the ball on two of their biggest IP releases so bad back to back like this. And it seems that every time they try to address an issue they only make matters worse.

Absolutely happy with my decision to not buy this thing. I knew the hardware and emulation was not going to be sufficient, but finding out later it was worse than expected was even more proof this company has overreached itself.
