    You should make a video of MvC2 vertical assists and why they're meta. Specifically, commando vs cyclops, and why psylocke is useful for magneto. I think a lot of people see these assists everywhere but aren't really sure about the differences between one and another.

    • @Nether2342
      @Nether2342 Před 2 lety +12

      Community calls them anti air assists and they’re good because they’re hella invincible and assists are very spammable in mvc2. The strengths of each are:
      -psylockes sets up combos and incoming guard breaks
      - Cyclops is a much better overall character than psylocke or capt commando so if the rest of your team dies he’s more likely to get a come back, while still providing an invincible assist.
      -captain commandos assist is actually broken and the best assist in the game by a lot. It’s huge, very active, and absurdly invincible. Downside is captain commando as a character is one of the worst characters in the game.

The first 4 sprite of his startup which take 9 frames maybe invincible but the rest ofhis startup have hitboxes that can be hit which is like 4 sprites 20 frames before corridor cones out. That's why doom or tbon couter him or even fast characters like magneto can stop him before CaptCom hits the ground.

    I know a lot of people complained back in the day about the game only having 4 attack buttons, that it made it too simplified.
    But imo, there’s just something so satisfying about pressing the same button twice in a chain combo, especially at the speed you can chain one normal into the next in MvC2. There really hasn’t been another game before or since with a similar feeling from just pressing buttons. You have some pseudo Target Combos in MvC3 that kinda does the trick, but it’s just not the same.

    • @dressigvil
      @dressigvil Před 2 lety +15

      funny how mvc2 got shit for allegedly being too simplified because they have 2 less buttons, and then when mvc3 came out people complained that that game lacks the complexity mvc2 had

    • @kekker_
      @kekker_ Před 2 lety +1

      You might like Under Night: In-Birth. Those kinds of combos are usually called "rekkas", and UNI has a million of them. Very different game, but rekkas are just as satisfying.

    • @CrossfacePanda
      @CrossfacePanda Před 2 lety +2

      @@kekker_ I actually don’t jive with UNI at all. I generally don’t like games where each individual hit is low damage, and thus requires really long combos to do any significant damage at all. It’s why I like Marvel: big damage up front, even from stray hits, then squeeze out extra damage if you can and want to put in the effort (I don’t).
      Also I just don’t like the general feel of combos in UNI; there’s just something very unsatisfying with how juggles work, dunno what it is. Not hating on the game though, it’s well put together, and I get wanting more people to try it.
      And while I know UNI has Rekka characters, I’m unsure what that had to do with my original comment; maybe I wasn’t clear what I was referring to. I was talking about Normal strings that cancel into each other via double button presses, like Medium to Heavy in MvC2 being on the same button, or Dr Dooms M-M arial string in MvC3. And unless we’ve learned very different definitions (which is certainly possible), those aren’t Rekkas.

    Some characters have supers that cause a "DHC glitch" where the opponent will be forced into the dizzy spin out regardless of current combo or damage taken. Then the next character's super comes in and does massive damage due to the damage scale resetting.

    Correct me if I’m wrong, but I remember that you can only DHC specifically while the “super flash background” is active, which is important for some characters whose supers have enders that happen after the super flash has already passed. Cammy’s air super is the first example I can think of here.
    It’s also possible I may be confusing that with another game, but I figured it’s worth getting the clarification.

    You should do videos of having all the legends of MVC2 like Justin Wong, IFCYIPES etc... And have them reach a technique of the day on MVC2 where they go into detail.. that would be sick!!

    One thing I want to mention that most people never talk about is a mechanic specific to Silver Samurai.
    Silver Samurai's power up supers for Ice, Fire and Lightning can actually stack 3 up to 3 times. My best friend Alex discovered this years ago in the lab with Silver Samurai.
    So each super on their own gives Silver Samurai a boost to either his speed, damage, or defense, but when you do that super again it increases that effect.
    So for example a 3 stacks of Ice, Silver Samurai gets super armor like Mech-Zangief and cannot be knocked out of some of his attacks like he would be normally. So if you do his ice super where he slams the ground and pins the characters down, even if someone like Iron Man does their Proton Cannon super, Silver Samurai will just tank the damage and still complete the super thus locking Iron Man to the floor for a major punish.
    The Fire Super is probably the most nutty one though, because it boosts his damage output and can make his shurikens and even his fire super lethal in situations where normally it wouldn't be.
    Try this out for yourself in training mode and tell me what you think. Also credit goes to Alex Alvarez for finding this, I'm sure he isn't the only player who has found this, but like I said, I haven't heard of anyone talking about this.

    I like to DHC strider’s “bounce around the room” combo into Commando’s “swordo” hyper combo. Less health damage than just crushing ops souls.

    I want to point out that there is another way to wavedash. You dont have to go to neutral, you just have to not be pressing a down input. So instead of [loop(2PP,5)] I do 6PP, [loop(3PP, 6)]. I like this way better because i can always just start holding the direction i want to be going cuz i can just reverse this for back wave dash: 4PP, [loop(1PP, 4)]

    Yeah the LP+HP (LK+HK) Super/LP+HP Dash system in this game makes me want to get a stick. I'm using a Sega Saturn controller right now for the 6 face buttons and I gotta do some frenzied finger yoga to combo into super in this game reliably. The hidden mediums was the most baffling thing I encountered when I was starting out

    I have a question. After you superjump, how many frames do it takes before you can do any normal attacks?

    I use the Retroid Pocket 2 ! Its limited , from the arcade controller. In seeing that the stick has way more whip and some leverage. The dashes work less than half the time about 30% ! Combos with mashing works magnificent. Half circles work good , but the quarter circles too do the Ken flying upper cuts only work right side front. The backend is hardly effective. Mashing and the half circle is the only thing that works on the retroid pocket. I really have troubles with air combos. I think its hardly impossible , with the🎮 controller
    Thanks for the demo.

    I'm noticing while using fightcade that the normal usa dreamcast version (used for training mode) has the punches and kicks swapped the opposite way than the naomi version (used for online play). It also seems to remember the settings i bound my inputs to when switching between the two titles, so if i wanted to use training mode does that mean i have to swap the controls back and forth every time?

    When I saw how Wavedashing was done is this video it was kind of a shock to me! For many months I was Wavedashing like this:
    Forward: →LP+HP↘ (repeat) →LP+HP↘→LP+HP↘→LP+HP↘ etc...
    Backward: ←LP+HP↙ (repeat)
    It's mainly because I'm using keyboard, and this method is very fast imo. I'm trying to use controller and wavedashing seems very hard regardless of what command inputs I use, because hitting LP+HP is simultaneously is hard and to do consistently. (I'm on normal Dualshock 4 fyi)

      Just realised, controller is hella awful on MVC2, definitely a device not fit for the game.
