Few comedians are capable of eliciting the visceral reactions that Amy Schumer does. It wasn't always this way. There was a time when she was an edgy comedian who told racially insensitive jokes and was generally well liked by the same people who hate her today. What happened? In this video we will try to answer that questions as we explore the evolution of Amy's comedy career.
Special thanks to BoneCK for helping me with some of the research for this video.

That's actually funnier 🤣 than anything Amy Sxhumer's 🤣ever said in interviews and in her stand up routines🤣😂. Two years later after making that comment and she continues to remain unfunny 😆. I think 🤔time will pass it will be the year 1,000,000,000 AD and she still won't be considered funny. *Only in a dream like state.* The only way anyone can be funny even talentless joke thief comedians like her 🤣. In the dream like state anyone can fly. They can do anything at all. They can even be funny, even the most annoying unfunny people such as Amy Sxhumer. She's nothing but a Sarah Silverman wannabe 😑. The Amy Schumer in the Room: an Elephant Documentary
Underrated comment 😂
Lol
Funny thing is that I truly read the title EXACTLY this way! No shit!
Hey guys, muh vaginas, am I right?
Actually Elephant in the Room is a Patrice Oneal's special's title! It's a direct reference.
Literally does Ellen’s bit on Ellen’s show
Colin Jones I used to know someone who plagiarized so much he lost track of whose story he was regurgitating. One time he told me a story I’d told him the same day, as if it were his. Long story short, we don’t associate anymore. The popcorn clip on Ellen’s show reminded me of that
That was painful!
Talk about a slap in the face. It was just a narcissistic dick move. She thought "hmm how can i reinvent this joke good enough that I can tell it to Ellen's MOFUCKIN FACE in front of a live audience and get away with it?"
@@joewhittle801 while that's a shitty thing to do I must have done that maybe more than once esp when drunk. But it was as a result of low self esteem and social anxiety. Once i gained a bit of confidence and stopped trying to impress people and let people accept me for me i stopped doing that. So check up on your friend to see if he is doing ok
I was so surprised she had the gall to do that
The funniest part is, you called Amy a "long Island 6" when clearly she's a 4.
The ad for her new movie is excruciating...
"I'm a woman."
"I've had 50,000 drinks."
DERP FUNNYYYY...
"She has the charisma of irritable bowel syndrome"

I come back to this doc at least once a year if not sooner. It very well edited and well made. I hope you aren’t done making docs.
Dude using white face Chapelle and Black face Fallon was truly a masterful move!
Did y’all see Bill Haders face when the director was talking about how “good” her writing was? Poor bill☹️
Dude I really hope he was just thinking of something else. Would hate to think Bill Hader had this writing credit taken from him.
Yeah he’s one of the greatest comedy writers of our time. I can understand why he got offended by that
Which interview was this from? I love Bill Hader, I’m really interested to see that
Yeah, he was frozen still. Idk how Judd could've said that.
LOL 😂 I was thinking the same thing and thought for sure the commentary was going to be about that.
bill hader’s face when they’re interviewing judd apatow 😂
I think most people that hear him speaking about anything make that same face.
Dam son this dude went hard in the paint he literally put the stolen jokes side by side with the victem lol
I could tell when he described Amy as "cute" he was using air quotes 🤣
...is that the entire "my sister was a cutter" joke?
wow
It was an attempt at shock humor, but a lazy one. The "joke" is that you are supposed to expect a punchline, only to realize there isn't one. A better comic may have been able to land that same joke.
Its like she was trying to be surprising by not having a punchline and just ending it there. But she brought it up like she was gonna say something really serious and then surprise surprise, she said something really serious. If she ended it in a nonchalant and abrupt kind of way like it´s no big deal then that could at least be called a joke. But I seriously don´t understand how her line is even SUPPOSED to be funny
I missed the part where it was a joke.. she just said she cut herself.. I was like.. and..
i'm guessing the joke is supposed to be that a joke about cutting is cut off. which could have been funny if told in a different way or just with different delivery, but here it doesn't land right.
@@felucca I felt it was just supposed to catch the audience off guard but if she was genuinely trying to make some kind of joke out of it that's...even more horrible then I originally thought. Like, at least make an awful pun. Or subvert my expectations. Like, its literally her job to cut pies or something. I could respect that.
You challenged us to remember one Amy Schumer joke...
"My vagina smells like a small... Barnyard animal."
... and I'm not happy that I remember that, either
Loki Wolfe omg that’s the only one I remember too
That joke honestly made me gag
Which was stolen from another comedian
I thought the challenge was to remember a line from her show tho
@@porpoisstanley5209
*sigh*
I can't help you.
The look on Steve-O's face made me really sad...
I know it was a roast but comedy is about making people laugh. I'm not even 'offended' it just legit made me sad which is not what comedy is for. A joke that makes people sad is not a good joke.
Making fun of someone's good friend dying is just fucked up no matter how you swing it.
Mencia was personal for Joe because a lot of what went down was in the orbit of the comedy store and the jokes that were stolen were from his peer group. That said, he totally gave Schumer a pass. Also I think that Schumer’s political connections are woefully underestimated.
"Amy has always possessed the timing of a miscarriage"
LMAOOO
Perfect way to sum it up
This is one of the most creative statements I have ever read. It is Shakespearean hands down.
I wonder who he stole the joke from... probably the dude that Amy stole it from.
This is apparent when watching her telling other people's joke but with much worse timing.
Got my like at the "Long Island 7" and got my sub w timing of a miscarriage lol

You could create a psychological analysis of a brain dead rock, and I'd probably watch it. Keep up the great work bro.
You’re funnier than 90% of the comedians you cover. One of my favorite CZcamsrs for sure!!
I disagree with one thing. Netflix clearly changed their rating system because of her. They had invested in her and there was huge backlash. Plus, the timing of the change was all too "coincidental."
What change did Netflix make?
@@kedabro1957 the rating system of their content
100% agree. Idk if the director is being skeptical because of the dreaded "conspiracy" label, but he's being naive. Don't be afraid to have an unpopular opinion when confronted with truth and logic. Don't be a sheep.
no....this is what happened....this is not her first netflix special...she is even lucky to have another netflix special...her first one flopped...and then she demanded to get paid as much as dave chappelles specials...you know an actual comedy icon ...his were not flops...
Personally, I don't see why Netflix would change their rating system specifically for Schumer. Netflix has an absolutely insane amount of money and power. Even Schumer is basically irrelevant to them in the grand scheme of things. I think it's far more likely that they got rid of the 5 star rating system as part of their recent push to make more original content.
I was at the "leather" special. It was worse live. The level of discomfort was palpable.

I thought it was intentionally bad to show that a man would get laughs no matter how bad the humour was or similar to that reasoning... apparently not.
It came across like a TV show or movie portraying someone try and do stand up but being incredibly bad despite trying their hardest.
I saw that and she got what she deserved. Who is the person who thought her beard was real anyway. If you tell a joke and dont get a laugh its not the audiences fault. They didnt decide for you to tell that joke. Also if the joke is funny who gives a crap of you are a woman?! She is convinced its because shes a woman that she fails. She gets on the stage dressed like a man and tells joke and noone laughs anyway. The femminists wont bring this part up tho cuz that would be honest of them and it would help fix a problem. One interesting thing is Bert Kreischer is one of Joes close friends and Bert has been friends with Amy since way before she was famous. They both appeared on a reality show together in the 90s. That could be part of why Joe wont say shit.

@Marko Jotic I laughed way too hard at that.
I saw Amy Schumer at Helium Comedy Club in Philly back in that early part of her career, she was the opener for some other pretty blonde comedian who's whole act was being pretty and saying outrageous things (I don't remember her name, she was'nt funny) ...what I remember most about Amy from that night was she was very cute and had really nice legs and booty, her act made zero impact on me whatsoever (and I am a huge stand-up fan) ...that, and the fact that she was kind of aloof and unapproachable in the lobby later (after shows comedians often go to the lobby where they meet the audience, take pics, sell merch, etc) ...years later, after Amy had blown up, I was working night shift in a hotel in downtown Philly, and one night Kathy Madigan checked in (she was doing some shows in the area), and I LOVE Kathy Madigan, she's one of my favorite comedians, so I started fanboying and gushing as soon as she walked in, she was super cool, she took photos with me, I bought her and her manager a couple cocktails from the bar, and we started shootin' the shit ...at some point, the subject of Amy Schumer came up, and let me stress; this was BEFORE all the controversy, this was at the height of Amy being beloved ...Kathy spilled all the tea about Amy; she called her the C-word, she told me how she had just dumped her boyfriend Anthony Jeselnick because she did'nt need him anymore (I did'nt even know they were dating at the time), and she talked about how Amy stole jokes form her and other comedians ...I was shocked, but I loved hearing all this juicy gossip from an insider ...so a little while later when all of this controversy started blowing up, I immediately thought back to that night; "Kathy was right!" ...I was never a huge Amy Schumer fan, her racist humor really turned me off big time, because she made people of color the butt of her jokes, unlike Louis CK, Bill Burr, and Neal Brennan who could do jokes about black folks that were smart, creative, insightful, and hilarious, Amy's jokes were simply offensive (I'm black, BTW) ...and I always saw her "re-invention" of herself as a mere ploy to throw off her old persona to make herself more palatable for mainstream success ...she's a hack and a sell out and not funny, I don't care how much other comedians like her personally.
That Steve-o joke was a low blow.

I don't care for her, the joke could have been polished and delivered in a funnier way, but it is still a joke. Imagine how hard Rayn Dunn would have clowned on Steve-O for that C minus joke. If delivered by Jeselnik (who probably at least inspired/influenced the joke) might have been received better. We've all seen comedians we love miss the mark, or bomb, and had that feeling like "those stupid assholes didn't get it". That's the face of a man trying desperately not to just scream "Bullshit!" at the top of his lungs.
I love you 😘
It's meme worthy.
One thing I would like to see is research into how often this happens with other comics, for comparison with Schumer. I can't imagine it happening at this frequency with just one individual though.
Now I’m gonna watch Dave Chappelle so I can experience laughing again
I didn’t expect for you to play the two albums at the same time and then have her deliver it the exact same way down to the timing like yikes. And then you did it again and I was like BIG YIKES
He had four clips going at the same time! Insanity.
The Bonnie McFarlane as a dude stand up was so bad I nearly disliked the vid.
It was such a bad idea .
Beige Frequency nonsense, any chance to bash Bonnie should be taken.
MURSE LOLOLOL
She winded up proving that “Women Aren’t Funny.” Thanks Bonnie. 🤙🏿🤙🏿🤙🏿🤙🏿🤙🏿
I especially almost disliked seeing Amy’s Netflix special
I wanted to puke
Meanwhile you can watch Joan Rivers when she's 50 or Joan Rivers when she's 80 and she's the exact same, hilarious, charismatic woman.
It’s absolutely crazy to me to hear the audience laughing after she’s telling “jokes” they must be being paid
They probably have a "farts are funny" or "what the dog doin" type of sense of humour.
Has anyone noticed how quiet Amy has been in 2019? We haven't heard of her in a while. Still can't believe Netflix removed it's rating system due to her special being really bad
well, she did get married and have a baby.
@@wylier RIP Chris
osp80 she got what she deserved. Her special sucked
Is that real? Maybe hers was one more of many shows or movies with low ratings.
osp80 no, the special got no laughs.
the moment she “roasted” steve-o, one of the sweetest and most well meaning comedians of all time, it was over. that pissed me off so much.
NAKANAKA me too... I remember watching that and my jaw dropped... the absolute pain on Steve-o’s face
Definition of “woah that’s not cool”. There’s a reason Steve-o is loved by everyone he’s come in contact with and the Ryan Dunn death was something she obviously had no understanding of.
I had never seen that until watching this video and it broke my heart. Steve O is one of the nicest people walking this earth.
His comedy sucks a fat dick
His comedy may be shit, but to say steve-o is not loved is straight up not true lol. Absolutely love the guy.
"Trainwreck" would have been a really great movie, if it had a totally different female lead.
Lmaoooooo that McFarlane chick part was hilarious. She was like "im funny, im great, the only reason why im not making it big is because im a woman being oppressed" all her life. Then she does her stand up as a man and it literally goes just as bad and she has a fucking existential breakdown realizing its not the world thats bad, its her. Lmao. That shit is sooooo fucking pure. Thats like white china irony With a dash of black tar karma lololol
The mencia stuff went wayyyy deeper than one joke and his name
yeah that's my one criticism of this documentary. he seriously undersold what was happening with mencia and why it took Rogan to do something about it. Mencia was out of control and someone needed to call him out on it. Joe did that, and he has almost universal approval NOW from the comedy world for having done so...
@@RobertLegereIII Yes, but he lacks credibility for not going after Schumer in the same way !!!!!!!!! If your going to burn someone for plagiarism of material and then give a pass to someone else for the very same thing, it doesn't look particularly good in some people's opinions !!!!!!!!!!
Mencia was a bigger fraud then schumer. even though they are both terrible.
I think the big difference between Mencia and Shumer is Joe actually witnessed “Ned” lol steal jokes from newer comedians and use them, and everyone knew exactly what was happening. Amy at least has a little plausible deniability, not much mind you, but at least some where parallel thinking or subconsciously remembering jokes years later is possible.
@@malkinmalone Yeah, Mencia’s Mexican-American gimmick didn’t match who he actually was, and then he tried to represent what was obviously a character as his genuine self. Plus, the immediate issue of stealing original material from people so blatantly didn’t help him
Always Sunny did a great parody of her when Dee was a comedian.
Yes bro that episode is literally the Leather special. Which is absolutely hilarious because that episode came out before that special
😂 Frank's prank... Amy was pranked too into thinking she's funny
Damn disinterested even think about that
@@jacobarellano1967 JQ
Which episode is that
22:30 Bonnie’s voice kills me… sounds like she loves using her “L”s to make up for her husband’s inability to speak
There’s a 95% chance the maker of these videos wears a mask while editing these by himself.
“I challenge you to remember a line from inside Amy Schumer”
Ok, uh “I finally slept with my high school crush”
At the time of the leather special, my girlfriend at the time was trying to convince me she is still funny. She got me to watch some of it with her, and about 20 minutes in, even she stopped giving her laughs because the audience was, she got embarrassed, and turned it off. It was terrible.
Alright.
Keyword "girlfriend at the time"
The "nothing works 100% of the time, except Mexicans" was actually funny lol
