I played wow so long ago, they didnt even had silence option, devs contacted you personally and resolved your problem, then they ended up the conversation with a joke or two...dam i'm old.
Blizzard was so much better at customer service back then. When GMs actually gave a shit and helped directly instead of forcing us to wait for 2 weeks for some shitty automated response that doesn't really fix the issue.

Automated silencing from reports is a relatively good system as the vast majority of people will never be able to get enough reports to be flagged; however, a streamer like Asmongold probably gets hundreds of false reports and should be exempt. Still, an automated system should also be reviewed constantly by real people and most companies only pretend to do this.
Man, I've literally just been silenced for abusive chat. All I was tryna do was sell freehold boosts. They went into my account and changed cheapest prices back to good prices as if that was the problem lmao
Here at Blizzard we don't lift a finger to see if reports are true or not. We let bots do all of the work.

It's just that any business needs to keep watch over their assets and if you are an authority power in any sort of ecosystem, the more public your mistake, the more rapidly and effectively you need to correct it.
No rule bending, instead this is asking for legitimate rule enforcement. If asmon typed "fuck you, kill yourself loser", in game, sure he deserves it, but he doesn't do that shit and we all know it.

Blizzard has a bunch of incompetent managers that don't have enough experience to be in the positions they're in. Thats resulting in bots coming back, performing the same rhythmic player actions, and abuse of automated systems that have inexperienced programmers creating.

No he's literally using the default game profile UI. When you are in a raid you click the triangle thing next to the raid frames, in the middle-upper-left corner of screen beneath your own player's health, to toggle them to appear.
I would just download perl and bartender addons from curseforge and make your own UI. I've never used Elvui. Better to make somethign how you like it yourself.

honestly got little idea. He's usually playing music during stream, and they must be using some sort of program (like rtx voice) to edit it out so its available for monitization, however it comes through when he talks too loudly

Reminds me of RuneScape and there automated detection system. I have been temp banned on two accounts and when you appeal you get a automated response saying they can’t show you the evidence of what you did but they are 100% correct in the ban. Meanwhile I use Reddit and Twitter and get a mod to look into it and they remove the ban
I can't access twitter (3rd week now) because I was falsely reported.
The system is set up so you can open your profile, but it just doesn't work and Twitter hasn't responded yet.

My brother played WoW for about a month at release. 10+ years later he came back and was permabanned. He reached out to blizzard and they wouldn't tell him what was up. He uninstalled blizzard launcher. I like watching asmon but I would never spend money on a blizzard product again.

and most importantly, there are endless ways to circumvent language filters like fcuk you. Sure you can put that in, but you have so many characters that it would be an endless pointless battle.
If you got enough reports on your account - then surely you gonna have a lot of cursing and verbal abuse of other people in your chat log? Anyway if such a system won't solve all of the problems, it'll surely prevent a lot of cases of false accusations like this one.

and how do you define who is a "celebrity player or big enough streamer"? they do get special treatment because every normal player that would have had that ban would have to wait a week for a response and i dont think that he'd been muted for even 24h
Lets pretend you're right... what it the size needed for this? Every guild worth noting... is a celebrity player. Does Blizzard have enough people to support this, streamers, and people outside of guilds? There is somewhere from 100-1,000 people at minimum that need this benefit... do you think that a company can hire 1,000 people to literally sit there and watch?
As even a low level software engineer, a script to parse chat text for blacklisted words would prob only take a day or two to write up.
But then, parsing every single chat message for every possible "mean" word + (l33tified) variations would make the server explode. There is a reason why chat filters are usually client-side.
@@kyoai It'd be fairly simple and fast to just split on space, and check a hashmap for each word to see if it matches a blacklisted one or not. It would only be checking already flagged messages anyway, so that'd be a minimal amount of computational power used.
Yeah when adverting carries people spam report you so you can't steal their customers. Doesn't even get reviewed.
A few guildies are advertisers and boosters in a boosting community and they get spam reported every so often by another community, or advertising individuals Guilds. So far they have been unmuted every time within an hour, when livechat was open. They just write that they are advertising, but only in /2.
They have strict rules about only advertising in /2 and punishments can be quite hard, especially for reoffenders.
As long as they have an auto ban, or auto anything, it will get abused. They need to go back to old school way of dealing with reports. Especially with how certain groups, or people can be. They report for anything that upsets their little snowflakes heart. I hate the system they have now.
That system is why I never socialize in their chats.

This silence feature has been able to be abused for years, since it was added, people have posted multiple videos of them / their friends mass-reporting other friends to see if they can be instantly silenced without a GM even looking at the reports.
Pro-tip, if 5 people report you around the same time you'll just instantly be muted for a few days. It's never been a problem when it happens to normal players because "they must deserve it" but the moment it happens to streamers everyone actually sees the system is broken
yeah asmon tested this on stream around 2015 when they first added it and got soft banned for saying "I love WoW"
its because you cant put streamers name as the title since they consider it stream advertising which is part of the TOS apperntally

Im from denmark and i moved to the philippines, played wow on and of since release... started playing wow classic eu to play with friends with my wife, we got banned by this automated system as lvl 38... apperently we played to much or because we are playing from SE asia makes us automaticly a bot... but we got banned, we tried appealing many times but its all automated responses... so blizzard/activision games will never be played by me again... sadly.... cause i have fond memories of this game

any time there's an automated system for muting/banning I abuse the hell out of it so that their appeals team has more work to do, to offset the "benefit" to removing the upfront cost save of making it automated. ESPECIALLY if there's vague or vacuous options in the report-able "offenses" (e.g. League of legends allows you to report 'hate speech' so I report 9 people per game for it, I get a popup every time I log in that disciplinary action has been taken based on one or more of my reports, and since literally everything ever spoken or typed ever is hate speech these days, well, there you have it.) it's the only way to help prevent these automated systems from existing

Seems like a simple fix for blizzard. Instead of report player, people would report the post off the players name in chat. Let that go through an automatic system. If it catches a bad word, then the account gets a warning. too many of those and then you get silenced. the important part being actual evidence.

You can turn off WM in any rested area. You need to go back to Stormwind when you want to turn it back on.
