servers need low-level dedicated GMs that act like mayors to go around cleaning up the server on a local level, kind of like a local government/council. I bet a single GM could honestly have such an easy time just gathering intel and deleting gold farming guilds if dedicated to a single server. the only risk would be the gold farmers making their guilds look legit or using legit guilds to launder the gold. that's when it would become more complicated

The people that play do this for them already though. Also you have to differentiate between which guilds are breaking TOS and which guilds are farming legit, which is pretty easy to tell I suppose. Farming is the backbone of of the games economy, getting rid of the shitty guilds using bots and other means of ruining the game need to go for sure though, drives me crazy

It’s so sad. Blizzard actually protects botting over fixing the issue. But don’t forget that blizzard needs the bots for engagement metrics. Realistically the subscriber numbers would be staggeringly much lower if they enforced rules banning botting. And the people in charge of making decisions to enforce it get a fair portion of money from stock options that rely very much on reports like engagement metrics and subscriber count. So they need the bots for their padding their paycheck

Remember when they fired a lot of personal at activision blizzard? Those were mostly quality assurance staff like GMs etc because big guys thought they aren't important at generating revenue and firing them allows them to cut more costs and increase growth to please the investors. Of course it leads to the big downgrade in quality since with no support and no people who watch over the quality various hackers, botters, gold sellers etc. start to get away with more and more shit (since it will take much more time to punish them properly). Those things are much more difficult to control with a program (that can just autoban you for using no-no words) and require actual people to work but blizzard doesn't want to spend money on it. For the same reason they didnt care about bots on classic, where even private servers would put more effort into preventing this.

That isn't how it works though, they aren't making millions they are making literally nothing. Botters do not pay anything for their accounts, they use tokens. With a token sub you can get all content except for shadowlands. That's why you're seeing all of these druids at level 50 after hours upon hours of farming, they can't get xp since they do not own shadowlands. If these accounts are operating, entirely for free, how do you figure that Blizzard is profiting from this in any way?
If anything all of the bots buying tokens is driving the gold value of each token down, causing less actual players to spend the actual cash due to the return being low. The impact this has on the servers also increases operation costs. Blizzard only loses here by not taking action.
If a single player leaves the game because of the bot problem, they are losing more than keeping bots that they literally profit nothing from.

Blizzard China siphoning western wealth to their county via fake virtual currency is what you are seeing.
Blizzard will never ban bots or gold selling, they actually support it.
      Why?
Because the majority of bot owners are Chinese, the majority of gold buyers are westerners.
Everytime someone buys gold on wow wealth is transformed from western nations to China.

I know its a late reply, but people still sub because WoW has been such a big part of their life. When you have invested that much time and money into something, its extremely hard to just let go, and move on. Its not just as simple as "quit and move on" especially for the people that have been playing since 2004. I've only been playing for 5 years and was only able to let go very recently after seeing this botting issue, but it was extremely difficult because of how important WoW was to me and how much I invested into it during those 5 years.
