The #porsche #911 is, with its rich history, undoubtedly an hero of our car world. Some of you GET why it’s cool and hasn’t changed much, and some think it’s utterly boring and not worth the price. But in either case, there’s no doubt that the #sportscar you currently fancy was probably influenced in some way by this car’s domination in the sports car space.
So buying and living with an icon of the car industry like this, almost becomes like spending time with one of your heroes. You come in with certain assumptions, hopes, fears - but the truth reveals only itself only when you live with it. And Remove Before Race is all about removing those presumptions we have - and and then racing!
992 is the most accomplished 911 ever, and the GTS is the goldilocks sweet spot. I’ve lived with mine for almost a year, so today we’re going to answer what it’s like living with the one true Porsche. Can it survive with a family of 4, is it worth the hype, and is the GTS the one? Let’s find out!
Today I’ll explore all the things I love & that you need to get in your own car, like Rear wheel steer, 360 camera and other must have options.
I’ll also detail the things I hate about the 992 generation - most crucially the crappy gear selector, and awful VAG group Start stop system.
And my favourite topic: Family usability! Can we fit a proper pram, a car seat and still have space left over for passengers and luggage?
And only after this, will we drive the car and dive into just how “perfect” the 992 GTS is. Is it the ultimate 911 daily, or could we make do with a previous generation in the 997 or 991? Let’s find out today!! :)

Girls love supercars more than kids
Those are the car seats I use in both my backseats as well for my 911 GTS. My kids, 6 and 7, fit comfortably still. The GTS is truly a great all around family sports car.

My dream car has arrived! Picked up my 2023 BLK/ BLK GTS with Manual transmission, glass roof, and rear wheel steer. Can’t wait for the break in period to be over. This is a serious sports car people.

Don't be fooled. The viewer is getting hit with suggestive programming as well: in-video commercials/advertisements from sponsors. Many people are desensitized to these things, but be aware: there is no free lunch.

I have a similar 2022 992 4 GTS and can report the following:
1. Ride. Tinker with tire pressures. Mine was delivered with all tires at 45 PSI and rode like a rock. Lowering makes a huge difference.
2. Touch screen. Take the screen protector off and use Apple Carplay.
3. FAL. Get it for sure if you live in a hilly or city environment to save the low front lip.
4. Glass. If you want more of a GT, option the Lightweight and Noise Insulating glass.
5. PDCC. Don't bother, it will delay your order and feels artificial.
6. PCCB. Don't get the ceramics if you're planning to track the car. Disc and pad replacements are very costly.
7. Interior. Avoid one bright color (get two-tone or Race-Tex plus contrast stitching) and get the leather GT steering wheel, not the Race-Tex version.
8. Colors. Don't bother wasting money on special colors or PTS colors. Save that stuff for a GT3 RS.
9. Audio. Get the Burmester audio, the Bose is weak and rattles.
10. Misc. Don't bother with the Night Vision option, do get the Innodrive if you drive long distances.
What's your guys thought between PDK or manual?
@@aminedahimene5722 PDK if you want to take full advantage of that engine. Manual if you want maximum connection. Personally, I went for the PDK and would pick it again every time. It’s phenomenal.
Brilliant review. I owned a 991.1 GTS with manual, rear wheel drive and loved it. Have been thinking about the 992.2, and your review exposes all the pluses and minuses that other reviewers have completely missed. Like the crappy shift lever. Like the recessed touch screen. Very well done, and thank you for taking the time. I hope you get a ton of new subscribers because your content is second to none.

Great review! I’ve had a 991.1 with an aerokit since new back in 2015 and used it loads with the family. They are now 10 & 14 and we can still go out in it. The NA engine sounds amazing and still goes really well (picked up a new Macan GTS and it feels quicker than that). Get a 991.1 and you will not be disappointed.

I agree with you, some of the digital controls aren’t that easy to use and the system is too complicated (which seems amazing coming from Porsche !). But as far as seating and luggage go, just as you pointed out, a 911 is a wonderful recipe ! As for the driving experience it is simply unique. It explains why the 911 can boast it’s 60th anniversary this year. Finally, yes, the GTS, whether 2 WD or 4 WD has more than sufficient performance. A brilliant (and beautiful) sports car. Long live the 911 😜😎
Great video. Got a 997.2 C2S and find it very practical (albeit as a couple with a small dog). Plenty of space in the frunk and behind seats + a roofbox up top makes it a genuinely practical car for touring!

the plastic lip on the front is actually a bonus for me since i know that if i hear the scraping i know i need to put on the front lift so that i dont destroy the actual bumper

Had mine 6 months now, a C4 GTS. Got ceramics and the aero kit on mine. Fantastic car and compliments my Audi RSQ8 perfectly.

I got a car seat in the back and it fits tightly. Went some crazy corners with my little one and it was fun.

I daily my 996 C4S as much as possible, wish it had Isofix though than I could've got the same seat as you .

This is beautiful, thanks for the ownership advice. I have been in sixes and sevens between the 4s and the GTS because comfort is important to me and I was afraid the GTS suspension may be stiffer and more unfriendly than the 4s. You didn’t complain about that in the video even with family riding along so I guess I have my answer. Thanks again. Cheers
Hi Chris. I switched from the 992 4s to 992 4GTS. In terms of comfort I could hardly tell the difference.

@@michaelwolpmann9453 the Carrera 4s has turbo s bits. I've owned both a 4s and a gts they're very similar cars, having just ordered my 992 turbo s I can say the gts is completely different.
Fantastic video! This 992 gen seems to be the first in which auto journalists prefer the GTS over the GT3. Won’t have the resale value, but I’ve seen / read similar viewpoints over and over again. I wonder if opting for traditional seats over the carbon fibers in the GT3 help with livability enough to make the current GT3 more livable. I myself have never been a fan of the carbons…. And I’m not even that fat… They impress your friends, but make a trip to the market far less comfortable…
And I, too, will be exclaiming, “PORSCHE CAR!!!” as I show my wife the clip of children actually fitting in the car. Thank you, sir. You are a legend 🫡
That GTS in silver against black rims and ascents just looks so incredibly good. Just the right amount of understated whilst still looking like a supercar. No one does it better than Porsche.
My C4 GTS has the aero pack, which does take the looks to another level, but In standard trim, I don't think you could describe a 911 as a supercar.
Love the spec and especially the colour scheme; awaiting our build a lot for spring next year. Would you be so kind as to provide me with the details of where to source the ‘motorsport’ decal please. Thanks again for the excellent review!

I had a couple 2-seat daily drivers. No kids here.
An audi TT that i once transported a 42” plasma TV w/ top down, behind the seats. And a Lotus exige that also had a ton of track time and some road trips. The exige seats are still the most comfortable seats ive ever sat in for a long drive. It looks identical to the lotus elise base seats but has slight curvature differences. These seats are also commonly swapped into older miatas
I also had a 2-seat suzuki capuccino that we road-tripped over 10hrs to Miami. It gets 40mpg avg redlining to 9k rpm every turn. It’s a hard-top convertible. Fav car of all time
I plan on making a jump to a 911 in about 3 years. That will make my son either 8 or 9 years old depending on the month. He will fit just fine. I've also seen that Thule or Porsche make some pretty sleek & cool roof racks.
991.1 C4S here. For awhile I had the rear seats out, with the Graco SlimFit3 LX child seat installed rear facing, and there was plenty of room all around, but the front passenger seat was tilted forward to the point it was not really useable.
I have the same problem with my 991.1 Carrera S. My 4yo daughter complaints when I lock the seat back. She likes it tilted forward.... But when I accelerate the weight of the seat simply moves back and locks. I can't drive with my arm holding the seat forward... That's just silly.

I have been using a 997.1 as my daily and quite practical car complete with roof rack for 18 months now and it’s hard to see past a 911. I keep wondering if I should go for a newer model but I fear it will cost me a lot more and not give much extra, in some areas it’ll probably take away.
Maybe the old man in me needs a PDK but I’d have to burn any Save The Manuals T shirts 😂

Brilliant. Reminds me of conversations with my wife trying to justify my M4 as a family car (and it is definitely more practical than a 911). In the end, lack of rear doors, occasional need for 5 seats and lack of generous luggage space meant the coupe went. The M5 that replaced it has proven much more capable as a family car, even if it feels a little less dramatic to drive!

Various reasons… The G80 wasn’t ready at the time (and I wasn’t sure I like the look of it) and, already owned an F30, an F32 and then an F82 M4, so I wanted a change in platform / interior. Also I didn’t want to reinvest in a platform that was about to be replaced. I also wanted more space and refinement and, after having the back end get loose unexpectedly a few too many times, the AWD of the M5 had a lot of appeal. Getting old I guess! Plus used M5s seem like a bit of a steal. It’s an epic car, no regrets. But I do miss the character and looks of the F82.
J U S T got my GTS allocation with PTS, v excited to get the last of the "analog" dial 992.1s that has a turbo.

My 6yo is generally very happy with being in the back seat. I sometimes have a boster for her to get in a better position for the seat belt, but sometimes I don't. I'm struggling with the fact that there's no back seat protection at all, airbag wise.

Proof that back seats in most sports cars are made for children and not full grown adults! And now to rewatch the videos on the Taycan and Panamera. Again. For the 1000th time!
I was at the grocery store with my wife and 2 kids (10&12) five or so years ago in my 997 - 911 4S, we had just put 4 bags of groceries in the frunk, and the 2 kids in back, when a guy in a mini-van next to us loudly proclaimed to his wife: "See, it IS a family car!". My wife and I still smile at that comment. Kid's have unfortunately outgrown the back seats, so for emergency use only now.

Great review! Like the details you go into. Have to disagree on the Start/Stop though. The fact that the engine stops before the car stops is by design. This is the advanced start/stop technology to have an even better fuel economy. This is not VW, also BMW and other brands apply this in their latest models.
Why nobody reviews the 911 or Taycan Turbo?!? Turbo without a S.

I asked the same question for my GT3. Was told that they come with clear (and it did), but on the configerator you can spec black.

Raz….I think any 911 would be good but a 992 version is maybe best. I cannot have one because my wife needs a soft ride for medical reasons but in my heart, a 911 GT Touring is where I would like to be. Interesting about that stop start…I also found the Volvo system to be deeply awful to use..try a three point turn and have the thing stops and starts on every move! Keep driving..how bad is a 2023 EQC then??…I have to have room and comfort but do they deliver either??🤔🙂😀😀😀

I regret selling my GT Silver 991.2 GTS so much when my daughter was born. Literal heartache whenever I see a 911 zip by. Eyes are on a Turbo S in the future!

Special effects were done pretty well, but there is an issue with audio in the latter part of the video where Raz's voice sounds doubled/slightly echoed. It's annoying.

I'll take a 3.8, normally aspirated. Buy a 997.2 while you still can; PDK yet still has steering that allows you to feel the road.

13:35.. you really should take care putting things in the back like that with little ones in the rear seats. A frontal collision will mean whatever is on that back shelf is going to fly forward with almost the speed you were travelling prior to the collision. That might be ok if it's a bag full of foam. But many many things can cause serious (potentially fatal) injuries to the back of a child's head in that circumstance.
What is the specific model of the Maxi Cosi car seat you have please? Thanks
For your information, my full size Ritchey Outback Break Away bike fits in the rear and my 'full size' Brompton bike fits in the front boot!
