One of the most beautiful jam segments in the entire Phish repertoire. Gets me every time. As the jam takes off around the 7:00 mark, close your eyes, turn off your mind, and surrender to the phlow.

At around minute 11 there is this feeling that wells up in my heart and i feel like everything that i worry about in my life will ultimately be okay. No other band taps into my soul like this and this is just one of many examples of Phish jams that can pull you out of yourself so you can gain some perspective. Amazing.

i come back to this jam and chalkdust torture 7/10/99 when i really need to remember how to feel. i quit drugs a long time ago, and its hard to remember how to feel sometimes. its hard to remember alot of triumphs and really celebrate them. these two jams always help me do so, always help me feel okay. I dont know what they were feeling that night exactly but ive felt it before and have never been able to express it quite as beautifully as this with words.

Have to state what i have said countless times, Page is such a crucial part of the machine that is Phish. So hard to imagine Phish without Page laying down those gorgeous chops. Blows my mind that he wasnt an original member, and thank God and Mike that they found him, because it simply wouldn't be the same without him.

I think Page drove the pace of this Jam 8:00 + Trey followed Pages lead up until the climax

@@moheganson Although I agree Page helped elevate this jam... It's actually Mike that started the deviation from the basic song structure noodling in the first part of the jam, to the type 2 goodness we all love. Listen carefully after Fishman lays down the foundation beat that Trey approves of in the video... you hear Mike hit 4 notes that change the whole thing C > A > F > G which later morphs into Amin 7 > Fadd 9 > Cmaj. Page and Trey soon follow suit and the rest is the one of the greatest jams ever created

"The Great Went", "IT" and Lemon wheel all three festivals at the top of Maine were Incredible. So many memorable jams and moments. The Harry hood glow wars. One night the band stopped playing and had the audience turn around, they turned off all the lights and we all stared in silence at this huge full moon. That mid-morning when there were strong winds puffing up everyone's tarps and flags whipping in the wind gust. The Hang Glider doing big loops right before the show. The burning man project that was lit as we left to go back to tents and cars to party, that kind of freaked me out to see that fire. Smoking weed, drinking beers, doing whippits and munching shrooms. "Drifting and Dreaming"

There are a couple of times that I think that Phish totally (without trying of course) taps into the sound of the time more accurately and effortlessly then any other musicians ever could. This version, besides being one of the best things I've ever heard, has a 90's alternative sound that puts the stamp on 90's alt/rock genre BETTER then anything else every created. It is timeless because of it's greatness but just really hits the sound of that era on the head for me

30 years?! Naw...Not since that concert at Loring ('97)....but maybe since the first incarnation of the band start-up? yeah. :-) I wasn't lucky enough to get to that concert up here in Northern Maine...BUT on the beautiful Monday morning after the show I was travelling down I-95 about two hours South of there enroute on a trip to upstate New York with my 17 year old son in the passenger seat....we got swept up in a huge wave of Phish people for about 12 hours!! LOL Wall to wall, bumper to bumper, and in every ditch along the way (nobody hurt :). Police everywhere....just making sure everyone was OK and waving traffic on. Dead stops in the middle of nowhere North of Bangor. So I just dropped the top of the convertible I was driving and chatted with all the people in their vehicles sitting around me (son was mortified "Mom!!! You don't do that!!!") AHAHAhaaaa :D....just like "back in the day" after Woodstock or somethin' (LOL)...good vibes....happy/mellow people with neat chatter about the show and the weekend. Thought I'd shake the pseudo-hippie traffic when I got off I-95 at Bangor and started cutting cross-country to make better road time....but unbeknownst to me at the time: the band was from Vermont!!! LOL....WHO KNEW??!!! and I had to go right thru Burlington and up along Lake Champlain!!! I swear every VW bus ever made since the 60's was on the road that day!!! Between all the Phish tunes we could hear all around us...and the "Tool" and "Stones" me n' my boy were cranking.....well, it was an awesome trip. If Phish ever goes back to Loring.....I think I might just have to see the concert this time!!! Happy 30th, guys! Next time bring Phish Food for all of us on the highway!! ~~ RED ☮♡♫

Thanks so much for posting this! I've been using the split video part 1 and 2 of it live but always having to stop and start the second half. This is the first time I've been able to enjoy it straight through. It is in my opinion the best jam bar none and really.. my favorite 15 minutes of any music in any genre. I'm kicking myself in the ass for finding this 6 months too late. Again, thanks brother! Closing eyes, turning off my mind and surrendering to the Phlow!!!

Uh yeah like two hits of mescaline for me. Walking along with my buddy to second set and booom!! I turn and my buddy is gone and I’m left with only a sleeping bag and my Nikon camera. I put my head down and barged to the front. I look up to find I’m 50 feet from the stage and there happened to be a hay bail to stand on. What happened next was the pinnacle of my Phish show career. Pure joy and I got it all on film. The art jam ended and they handed us the plywood thing and we passed it over our heads on to the sculpture. One of the pinnacles of my musical life and I saw 60+ dead shows and scores of phish shows. I still get chills.

Madcatcon199 yeah that one is the best Gin up until that point for the band. Just gave it another listen; Lots of energy and teases esp. Weekapaug around 8 min, but for me, it's nowhere near as blissful and euphoric as this masterpiece. I mean this one makes me shed tears outta joy. Murat version not so much.
