We were just behind the heart of it. glow sticks looked like a musical engine
Mike bass sounds huge, Page drops straight 70's porn vibes. Nice intro. Bliss is sweet. The turn is vibrant/funky. The tempo is so 97. Precursor to the upcoming fall. Miner is tight. D-A-G - Instructions from Trey to Chris > They amble around the valley. Mike's tone and contributions are great. Page's piano works as a contrast to the rumbling booms dropped by Mike. Trey & Fish are hooked up from the word go. Fish doesn't crowd the jam & Trey allows the glow sticks to set the gearshift for the high gear of his soul. This isn't a mesh jam, more like the 4 musicians passages are actually fused together. Trey machine guns it for a few before they play the familiar progression & sing the final vocal refrain. Trey of course references the crowd's contributions to the song. Phenomenal. A perfect game.
I remember when the first few 'went' up.... Holy hell broke loose.
Thanks for posting this. It's almost 25yrs & the vibes from this tune at the Went just came back to life!☮❤⭕️🇵🇷
One of the very best weekends and musical experiences of my life, to date.
This is real phish
The best. It literally hurts my heart to hear this now where we are in this stupid world. This was a time of promise and hope.
We lost.
@@beagletoe I feel you on this. It’s like in the 90s, this music, this scene brought me hope that the world can transform. Now a days, it’s like phish shows are sketchy cuz you don’t wanna get sick, plus, it’s like they are playing in a way that is trying to soothe and heal us more…hard to pin it, it’s just not the same. But I’m not the same person as I was in 97 that’s for sure.
I hadn’t listened to this version in a while - god it brings back so make incredible memories. The Went was actually my first Phish experience, I was a sophomore in college, had just met this new girl I was in love with me introduced me to Phish and already liked there music but had no idea what the scene was gonna be like. I’m sure I was tearing up during this I was so happy, and just amazed. At that point in my life there was no experience that was close to this. The ride has been amazing, I pray to God this COVID situation goes away and we get at least one more festival.
I can't believe there is no video of this anywhere...been searching forever
Bittersweet Motel
I really hope some day they release the entire Went like they did Clifford Ball. I think the 2nd night, and specifically this set, might be my favorite of all-time out of 100+ I've seen. Just playing their fucking asses off and having so much fun. As amazing as the Gin was earlier in the set this still takes the cake. Goosebumps start at around 7-8 minutes in and just don't go away.
Well there is a video frame from the Glowstick War from that Harry Hood for a split second during the 2001 Montage in Bittersweet Motel.
This....this is phish..
All 3 festivals there were a blast! Glow War, Hang Glider, Full Moon .......
epic weekend
Understatement :)
Oh, but the rain....
Un fucking believable
Thx
"I am the culmination of one man's dream. This is not ego or vanity, but when Doctor Soong created me, he added to the substance of the universe. If, by your experiments, I am destroyed, something unique - something wonderful - will be lost. I cannot permit that. I must protect his dream."

This was only second to Clifford which had a more industrial feel. The Went was more relaxed.
