- re-edit and cleaned up a bit with remastered audio of the great Ghost of Prague in 1998.....on my account, it said this was uploaded in sept, 2013, but I never took it off "private". so now, "public". but hey, here it is. simply smokes. peak trey. mike gordon tears ass. fun closeup at 9m49
- Hudba
This video needs to be preserved by the Library of Congress immediately.
I know of some citizens who would gladly sign that petition. A buddy of mine in high school had a VHS copy of this show, and I remember being jealous.
agreed!
Yessss!!🙌
Let’s F Go
Couldn't agree more. Divinely inspired playing imo
Treys only regret that night was he didn’t have a 3rd tubescreamer in the chain.
"The Prague Ghost is the closest thing we have to cocaine right now"
-The Phunion
Not coke. This is pure heroin.
Marc id rather it be coke
Perfectly done speedball
Mr. palmer was concerned just momentarily
I love that little lick he plays at 10:17 which leads to the 4 members of phish pumping like an extremely well oiled optimal piece of futuristic machinery
When people ask me why I love Phish, or why I go see live music...this is my new answer.
I'm curious who would wonder why you go see live music
I’m curious how boring your life must be to respond to 3 year old CZcams comments Tyler?
@@603Brett_ damn dude why did you get so defensive about that?
@@anotheryoutube4635agreed, that was uncalled for lol
Incredible version, hard to find a better one 25 yrs later. They are a special band
I've never been much of a Phish fan. But this!
I was at this show... I was interning at a company in The Netherlands and flew out to Prague with 3 friends for the 2 shows. Prague was stunning and the Lucerna Theatre was just amazing (underground theatre). It was small/intimate enough where you could hit up the bar in the theatre, grab a cocktail, and walk right back to where you were standing/grooving and not miss a thing. Certianly one of the best memories of the summer of 98. Thank u for posting.
I too was there, as the tour happened to follow my semester abroad in Rotterdam. Wound up doing the three Copenhagen shows (an absurdly weird and awesome experience) as well as both Prague shows. I'm so grateful that things worked out the way they did. I treasure those shows and the incredible fun I had.
Love reading stories from people who were at shows im watching. Provides such great context vs listening on another app or format. Thanks for sharing
Same here. Studied in Parague and hit two Copenhagen shows and both Prague. We met and hung out with Fishman at Chapeau Rouge in Prague the day they got in from Copenhagen
Some insanely lucky peeps here…
THIS is PHiSH that I remember. The PHiSH that I used to follow from California to Maine, from Greek to Hampton, without hesitation. Good Lord, I feel so blessed to have caught them so many times BC.
1.0 for life...
Before Coventry?
@@uncleebenezer8599 Really before Shoreline 2000 but yeah. Definitely before that soggy manure filled spectacle that was Coventry. And the flooded cow fields were horrendous as well
wakeup and see a 4.0 show
@@npweeazelFuck yeah! And I was the saltiest of jaded 1.0 vets, but you’ve gotta have shit in your ears if you don’t think they’ve been throwing down the hammer post pandemic…
just happy to be here. might be the best jam of all time..
Started with the boys in 92.....94 - 98 still my favorite years of Phish.... God I miss those days 😭. Gel tabs, speedy e and Trey's looping.... Thanks for the memories ❤️♥️
When the LSD was DOC and the MDMA was meth (jk that was Western NY in the early 2010s)
Pff, definitely don’t miss meth laced E. I’ll take pure unadulterated MDMA any day over that shit! Gel tabs are still 🔥 in 2023 if you look in the right places 😊
Love this jam. This whole time period of Phish was extremely productive musically. Phish, Farmhouse, The Story of the Ghost, Billy Breathes, Hoist, Rift, Junta, A Picture of Nectar, and Round Room. 90' into early 2000's. Apex Phish.
100% even more I feel a little piece of everything in 98 in particular with island funk tour to summer 98 Portland Meadows and this insane show then Worcester Wipeout night just that year had 3 different styles all tight and together no meandering and all mind blowing. The creativity was pouring out from everywhere made crazy look easy and fun af! Sessions at West 54th Street was perfect example

I mean, you basically just said "1962-1969 were the apex years of the Beatles" but I totally agree :D
@@alexkickscan
Half right, full credit. Beatles were done by '70
Twenty years later (after "early 2000s"), Phish still bring the house down . Lucky us!
Some of the best times of my life on the 98 US summer tour. Hearing Ghost for the first time, BOAF for the first time. Trey had his Loops, but still had that killer tone.
Mike’s tone was perfect in 97 and 98
Totally. I would say both Gordon and Fishman stood out on a more consistent basis back in the 90’s.
This. Is. The. Greatest. Thing. I've. Ever. Seen. I want the vocal jam from Denmark posted lol. It's the best EVER.
I hope this earned them at least a dozen new Czech Phish fans.
Imagine just randomly walking into this show never having heard of Phish and seeing this level of shred.
Most euros do not understand. Not all, but most.
Favorite ghost for sure
Just too sick. Machine gun peak is so so dirty! We though they'd never end! Now, if anyone has video of Darien lake 93 that would be greatly appreciated. Much searching most disappointing. Great work as always LL.
Was Trey feeling it this night? YES. love the head bob. And the 2 step shuffle. Whooooo
Happy 25th birthday to the GOAT!
The transition from ACDC Bag is also flawless
Happy 25th! My favorite piece of Phish music ever.
Fishman had a few gears during these years that made some shows like this extra special. Physically he just laid out rhythm for these guys to play on and this is one of the greats. After Trey hits that effect and smiles and blues licks start band is in high gear. Miss that about 90's 98 really in particular worcester wipeout night he was so incredible. Thanks for great video of amazing jam:) Awesome!!!! Still great its different style but I feel lucky to have seen these years and type shows. Hella fun:)
I was just saying this. That’s the biggest difference I think between then and now, fishman’s physicality. Dude used to have a wild swimmers stamina and would just fucking go… i literally used the wipeout weekapaug as the example. I don’t see them that much anymore just because these jams where what I was always chasing, but am going to see them at alpine in a few weeks for the first time in yearsZ
You are doing the lords work. Thank you LL ⚡️
Yes! One of my favorite versions of my favorite song!
Never gets old!
Holy mother of Trey!!!! I am so glad I stumbled upon this! What a beautiful gift!!!
The Piper from this show is worth a listen and of similar savagery if you loved this I've been hooked on this show since I got cassette of show in 99 felt same way those are two highlights for me though. Very unique version of each song both mind blowing.
ryan phelan I’ll check it out dude...thanks!
@@ledhed5553 trust me time we'll spent same machine gun effect glasses flying off drool lol it's freaking great. Very welcome hope you love it I'm sure you will
ryan phelan 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👊🏼
@@ledhed5553 👊 haha my pleasure crazy show glad you dig it!!!!
Jesus christ this is the greatest jam in history
amen
Words will never express how nasty this is. OG Red Rooster baby! 🤯🐓🤟
Fantastic! Next up please release Julius from the second set of the Prague show.
I was thinking the other day that the Prague ghost was overrated, until I listened to it again that is. My thinking at the time was that people were just taken in by Treys lightning fast runs but there is so much to this jam than just fast soloing. The energy just overflows from start to finish. And those runs are super melodic and tight. This is peak trey killing it.
Absolutely outstanding. I have heard this track many times...but seeing it takes the cake....more Ape Shit Trey in the near future please, and thank you!
Wow. Lazy, this recording was incredible before. You beefed it up another level. Trey’s playing is another story. Wow!
Agree
it all started so sweetly..
I was at this show. It may have been the best night of my young life. The night before was a little messy and disappointing, but man, they were *locked in* for this second night. Strange memories 25 years down the line: There were heavily armed (AK47's) security all around the outside of the venue (young me assumed it was the leftovers of the prior communist regime, but I probably am not correct, there) . Of course, Page playing "Petrof"...the incredible ease of moving around the venue (which was stunning) and the friends I made on this tour. As a musician, the playing on this tour really took me to a different level. The 7/2 Ghost...this Ghost. Man, I saw some stuff.
Was there as well. Ate mushrooms, don't remember much. Lucerne theatre. Small place 🍄🐟🍄
Gawd Dammmmmmmmm!!!!!! He must like them Czechs! Loved every second of 98. 97 too. and 96, 95, 94, 93, 92, 91, 90, 99, 00, 01.......
Always wondered why on Earth they changed this from Pure Funky to Space. I believe that the Early Versions are the Best. Ie Atlanta 97...
Thank you for sharing this piece of history!
absolute fire. page is one of my heroes
thanks for the scrb oh mighty master
His saber dropped out of his back pocket, did anyone find it? It rolled to the side of the stage under Mike.
Such an insane jam! Thanks:)
Lazylighting55
Your work is outstanding. THANK YOU
Another Legendary Phish performance
9:48 when he kicks in the whammy while playing that repetitive lick is absolutely gnarly
One of the best riffs ever.
Many thanks for sharing!
there is nothing better than this video. The blip is gone.
Kids today will never know the joy of being on acid when Trey cooks up all those whale call loops. You’re pulled into a deep place. Then the machine gun comes out and you’re pulled right into the present mind blowing. Ugh. So good.
I can relate to that. I’m an old dog now at 40, but tripped balls to Phish at Deer Creek, Alpine, Miami, and Big Cypress. Wish I could have gone to more out west and east.
Best experience was camping at Deer Creek.
Or.... they will!
I wish I could time travel back to the mid-late 90s and trip at phish shows, but I’m a 3.0 noob so I trip at new shows
Almost as good as 10 tabs alone in silent darkness with the doors locked ... Or maybe that's just me lol
🙏thank you kindly!
8:47 confidence to spare
So good.
Amazing
Great quality!
That was exhilerating. Just as amazing watching it here as the first time I heard it.
I was there!! What a show ⚡️
Great tour in 98'
straight 🔥
Fuck...... I need a cigarette
Damn!
sounds like jumpin jack flash at the end
Jesus fucking Christ, so much energy!
This audio is fabulous.. 6:07
sounds fantstic. well done
In my day, jams like this were commonplace.
That sounds exhausting, and I love Jams Like This lol
No they weren't, that was my day too.
@@PickpocketJones 😂 yeah I agree. Not common at all
@@PickpocketJones It was my day too, and jams like this certainly weren’t commonplace, which is why jams like this are considered all time, and you’re not going to find them in any random 90’s show that you pull out of the archives.
This one was different. No doubt
If you boil it down it's Fishman doing his thing and drill down even more, that snare crack.
Rippin'. Roarin'. Soarin'.
LL does it again. Cheers to you!
They played Amsterdam on my birthday and although I wasn't there my ghost was in attendance
Sick
yeaaaah baby!
98 was🔥
9:52 trey realizes how hot this is
This what I liked about old phish
This is Trey putting his foot on your neck and not letting you breathe. Absolute 🔥. 98 was awesome.
hahaha this comment aged well.
OOF
big oof right here
Smh
Perfect description.
Niiiiiiiiice!
Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice
sweet, ty!
Man, phish used to be so phishy
Nice :)
I mean it's no Alpharetta...but yeah..nice!
Ummm, YES. Thank you 🙏🏻
Absolutely love it. This is in Summer '97 FYI. European tour was '97. '98 was absolute fire as well. I remember much of the mid July '98 Gorge shows in WA. Just finished college, roaming country full ass beard and mop of hair and took in those 2 shows.
This show was indeed during Summer 1998
@@lancedavis9710 Definitely my bad. I looked at an archive that didn't list the 98 europe stuff. Sweet show, and appreciate the post.
Straight heat
11:43. That's it. That's the comment.
this is what I use when people ask whats phish
Phucking fire 🔥
I miss the @ 9:52 Trey
Bet there were some good doses here. I always heard that about Czech Rep
a ghost just gave me life
Can we get a playlist of all the gas?
What effect does Trey boy stomp into that takes it into hypertone at 9:48 ? IN-SANE
grazie Phish, grazie Lazylightning55a
digitech whammy pitch shift I think
Trey buttons. And judging by the tongue wag, he really enjoyed it as well.
@@danz4z1011 yup!
A little too slow for my taste..Trey could've picked it up a little
slow Trey is annoying
Can we use AI to change that super clangy empty distracting snare into something nice and chunky and fix this once and for all?
It just went from 6 to midnight.
Nice !!!!!!
Very nice! Did you actually take the video LazyLightning?
His right hand is barely moving!!! Hows he make it sound as if its moving 100 miles pers hour? Oh!! I almost forgot!!! He loved zappa as much as i do 😅 you are scary amazing trey.... thank you god for trey being born❤
Fun
How they take such a repetitive sound and make it into a groove is beyond me
How about the Big Cypress Sand.....that should be studied with your thesis question here...
Jon Fishman is the best drummer. He just is. Fight me. I'm still right.
You're right
Tweekin... sick though!
Yup
neil young ending is so choice
Good
I came.
that place was so hot! and not just the music
