Anupama, please make a video of your thoughts and thoughts of other actors/directors on what happened to our dear SSR!!!!
Please interview a film editor
Nitin Baid, Aarti Bajaj, Shan Mohammad, Shweta Venkat. There are so many @filmcompanion
Damn, watching Alfonso cuarons name on a Marathi films, brings such smile to my face, make history Chaitanya, You, Lijo are going to be the faces of indian cinema in years
Absolutely true
He gives all of the dreamers a hope...Of finding our Vivek Gomber some day 😄
Young talents like Chaitanya Tamhane need to be heard, seen, and given ample opportunities to succeed. We need a cultural change in our movies and society. High time we rise above mediocrity!! Was heartbreaking to hear that he was feeling so hopeless that he was considering suicide at one point but it's wonderful that he somehow managed to channel his frustrations into a beautiful movie like Court. Keep up the great work!!
Chaitanya is one of my inspiration... Achieving so much in such a young age, more power to you chaitanya ❤️❤️
Greetings from New York- Your film was sheer poetry. Exquisite and sensitive. A journey that needed no destination. The journey was the destination. My humble thank you for the gift you have shared with us.
Interview 'Akshay Indikar', another talented Marathi filmmaker.
His film 'Sthalpuran' is selected for **Berlin Film Festival** this year.
thankyou so for sharing the same. please keep on sharing list of movies
Thanks for sharing!
Anupama I am very happy that your channel is giving platform to these directors. They are pioneering our cinema and definitely deserve voice, conventional media fails to gives. There is an audience that appreciates this. Please keep on the good work
Great that he is making movies in Marathi. We as audience needs to get acquainted with subtitles to grow Indian film industry as a whole.
This is the kind of content we need from Film Companion.
We need more non-conventional directors like Chaitanya Tamhane. When I watched the trailer of Court (first movie by him), I firmly decided to watch it in a theatre. Of-course, as anticipated, the theatre was not even 30-40% full. But, I absolutely loved this movie and I have never witnessed such realness in any Marathi film (or even in any typical Hindi movie court scenes). Hope such kinds of movies get deserving recognition. I always wonder although we have so many pathbreaking stories and movies (with immensely talented directors) that have equal potential as Oscar-winning Parasite, they never get any deserving fame outside.
Audience needs to support this movie.. I watched Court movie in theatre with total of 20 people in it..
Absolutely rite
It's d audience who has to awake..
I loved Court but it's really not for everyone. I would like to see this film get much more exposure, but expecting people to support it even if they don't find it entertaining is just bizzare.
@@abhishektd7068 I mean the biggest problem is that Indian audiences have been fed that there's a certain kind of movie that "good." Fuck that shit man
I can never forget Court my entire life! It had a huuuuge impact on me. Chaitanya is bound to go places. No wonder that Alfonso Cuarón is all praises for his work!
This is the first time I'm watching a 'Chaitanya Tamhane' interview. What a guy! Such positive energy and enthusiasm for cinema. Had loved loved COURT, by the way. Thanks for this interview FP. :)
I just saw the Disciple and am Blown away....& now with the Man behind it....thank you for this insightful interview.
The industry needs 1000 more Vivek Gombers to support talent.
Thanks for choosing to talk to this gem!! Would appreciate if you could bring such interviews on your channel instead of regular masala!
Extremely talented boy.....mentored by none other than Alfonso....my god
i just love love love anupama, she does her homework so well. i can literally listen to her talking to artists for hours because of the interest she takes in their processes and their work. and FC has taught me so much about the film, pls keep doing this.
I really wish his film wins main award at Venice and create history for india after so many years.
His movie Court is my top 20 fav films of last 10 ten years. The non judgemental portrayal of conservative, liberalism and "radicalism", not just through dialouge but comes across through camera language...the film has almost everything that will make a film " boring " yet it engages you.
It was really inspiring to listen to him talk. Also, a relief to hear that he, too, is struggling with being productive in the lockdown.
Talent and hard work, that's what it takes. PERIOD. This interview shuts up all the debates that are going on in the B-Town right now.
Everyone watching this, treasure this man for he is a very precious. He is a true filmmaker
main kl hi soch rha tha ki fc should interview this gem of a filmmaker..and today here we are..but i wish we were less obsessed with foreign adulation..i mean 'court' bnate waqt bhi bnda itna hi talented tha...uske baad bhi interview liya ja skta tha..bde sare nye filmmakers ke sath yhi hota hai..
i liked how u brought forward voices like gourav solanki and Rishi Chandna..hope u do these for more directors
Finally something good from Film Companion.
Please give space and exposure to such people rather than worse than mediocre Nepokids.
Been waiting for this interview since forever! ❤
Thank you for this interview.
thank you for doing this interview
his 1st movie Court is master piece , a must watch. looking forward to watch more movie of his
this guy visited Alfonso on the set of Roma. I envy him.
Alphonso the Mango?🤔😂
@@barrywhite6852 sorry its Alfonso.
visited ? He worked with him .
He was a part of the Rolex initiative
would have been better if he met him during children of men or azkaban, but then alfonso was too attached to that horrible movie .
Thankyou so much for this interview.
Its always so insightful and delightful to listen to Chaitanya. Our country is so proud of him.
Chaitnaya we are so proud of you. You are an answer to those who just madly belive that unless there is a godfather or a money bag behind, one can't think of enter and stay in cinema. In front of you many super giants like Sham Benigal , Satyajit Ray are look small. Carry on. All the best. 🕉🙏
Such positivity 👍after all d negativity gng on on social media
It was kind of inspiring to hear this interview
I had loved Court and I only wish good things for this boy!!! More power to him!
Court (2014) was just a groundbreaking film and it makes me sad that most of us don't see such films which are termed artsy.
Loved this chat. Waiting to see this movie.. Court was a wonderful experience
Saw this video because Alfonso Cuarón (Director of Gravity and Roma) was mentioned, learned about the creator about Court now want to meet Vivek Gomber!!
He is gem. Court will remain one of favourite movies.
What clarity 👌👌. The Disciple is going to be marvelous.
I have goosebumps.Admire Vivek Gomber even more now.❤️
One of my favorite directors. My best wishes.
What a lovely interview
Great, Congrats chaitanya for winning the super award in Venice.
I like the point he made about doing what's right for the film and not what's right for stoking your ego. I feel lots of potentially great modern Indian film makers like Anurag Kashyap fall prey to this. We also need to admire his humility in seeking mentorship by applying to the Rolex program even after he had a national award under his belt.
Just saw Disciple,
Beautiful film.
So down to earth and honest person he is👌
Fantastic all the best.
Big fan. Chaitanya is inspiration and love ❤️
I think one day he will Oscar...
Yes Chaitanya Tamhane..❤️ way to go..you have earned it...make more uncoventional movies.. don't let yourself fall in the dirt of bollywood....make cinema brother.❤️❤️ Congratulations
pls bring more such interviews instead of interviewing Sweta Bachan
When has fc ever interviewed shweta bacchan?

Fc interview sb😝😝😝😝😝joke of year..
Thanks!
What a great movie ..... Excellent...
The Foreign language Oscar vibes are pretty palpable here! Maybe even the main award too!
Well said
He really has the potential to be the next Haneke. The Disciple is such a thought provoking film, hoping that it gets the wide release it deserves.
MARK MY WORDS,TOWARDS THE END OF HIS CAREER HE WILL SURPASS HANEKE &OTHER FIMMAKERS AROUND THE WORLD WITH HIS BEAUTIFUL FILMOGRAPHY FILLED WITH MASTERPIECES. I THINK ALL OF HIS FILMS IN HIS FILMOGRAPHY WILL BE MASTERPIECES.
GLAD HE IS FROM INDIA😏😏😏
I hope you take home the golden lion this time. You will be 3rd indian to win it. Good luck👍👍

Videos featuring the so-called "Nepo-kids" gets more views, but insightful interviews like these rarely find reach. Clearly the proof (of people supporting good talent) is not shown in the numbers and the hypocrisy of viewers/trolls is so evident.
Proud of you Chaitanya.
14:45 importance of one person to whole new possibilities. wow, what a beautiful person vivek is. I still don't see any opportunities outside Vivek Gomber, wow.
Today marathi movie trailer release "the disciple"

Chaitanya we proud of you raja
This guy is India's hopes to the Oscar.
where can we see this movie, other than film festivals which we are not even in our zone?
Is this movie on any OTT PLATFORM ???

Best Director in India☝️
Un books ka nam kya he jo anu mam ke piche hain. ...
Guys I have been wanting to watch 'Court' ever since it released but couldn't find the movie on any platform or anything. Please tell me where can I watch it?
On Netflix
@@siddhiparikh411 i checked its not there.
I watched in Netflix long back
It’s on prime, at least in the US. I remember seeing it on CZcams as well. You will need to pay for it but it’s available. Btw ‘Lathe Joshi’ is another gem of a film, which is available on CZcams now. Do watch.
@@milindanusasha nope not on amazon prime india though. But I found a copy on youtube. Thnx. I'll look for Lathe Joshi as well :-)
I was really enthusiastic about the film because it's in Marathi and all of that... but it was SO SLLLLLOOOOOOWWWWW! The pace adds artistic and cinematic value and I can appreciate that, but to deliberately make it SOOOOO SLLLLLLOOOOOOWWWW is just not right! OMG!!! It was literally like watching paint dry. A pity really, because it has such beautiful visuals and breathtaking photography. In summary, the director made the film for his own pleasure, not caring a hoot for the audience.
Nice interview
But again Anupama is creating a kind of mythology around him, that is what chaithanya broken in The Disciple..
Congrats Cjaithanya
And thank you Anupama
where can the Disciple be seen
Realizar un filme cruzazulino en el cual la prensa también quede mal parada.
En los mejores tiempos del equipo(Cruz Azul) no hubo una sola película sobre ellos.
qué? 🤣
Great interview. The movie reminds me of a recent Indian book, "Brothers Sen Gogh"(www.amazon.com/dp/B08WM46XDC). It focuses on a struggling musician in Mumbai, and deals with issues of talent vs popularity, musical quality, the fate of average musician as against the media portrayal of rock stars, and many themes that "The Disciple" talks about.
how old is he?
WHERE THE HELL CAN I WATCH THIS MOVIE????
Pls tell me.
It's there on youtube itself
If his movie gets snubbed by indian board for sending to oscars then there is no humanity left in India
Can someone share me The Disciple trailer plz
Me Also waiting.....
I think it's not released yet.
It will release after venice film festival.
Alas !! Film board of India snubbed this movie.... Wtf
What's the status on BALEKEMPA....?
Dead
@@Prussian_Indigo atleast head for OTT release
Still we all know a talent like him never get respect in India. His film won't be sent to Oscars another nepotism backed big budget Hollywood rip off will be selected as India's official entry.
All the best Chaitanya.
His last film was the Oscar entry. Just FYI...
In the bullshit of Bollywood crap, there are diamonds who shine ,he is the one among them
Marathi people never support there cinema. They r more interested in crap bollywood movies. The movie which won many awards at international festival (court) was a disaster commercially. While the whole of maharashtra flocks in theater to watch crap salman movies. Talented actors directors r ignored. And now if Chaitanya who deserves more recognition don't blame if he chooses to make movies in hindi rather marathi. Bcoz he is the best and if his own people cannot respect him then he needs to move on.
you are absolute moron, we wholeheartedly support our cinema, making great, path-breaking cinema is only possible in Marathi movie industry, the root lies in 150 years of theater culture that we nurtured, practiced as a part of our culture. Sad part is Marathi cinema hardly get screens in big cities in prime time, MNS, SS and other groups agitating against the dadagiri of brothelwood mafia is a regular story in Maharashtra, to some extent I agree with you on crap movies making money.
Oh really. Then why did court failed commercially? It was financial disaster for the makers. They suffered huge losses. Getting critical acclaim and winning awards is one thing but it's bussiness and the producers need to earn profits. The attitude of people towards the cinema shows it.
Today marathi movie trailer release "the disciple"
Court movie director chaitanya tamhane and
His mentor Alfonso c
Garda urega
This film is made by Chaitanya Tamhane whose first Marathi movie Court ( albeit much acclaimed at film festivals ) enraged me so much, for making a fool of me. I felt insulted about some one’s ability to take a serious film goer like me, for granted to this level.
Even K Bapiyaa and KC Bokadia had not done this to me ( viewer like me ) in such pretentious manner. At least they were upfront about it, when they made Mawali and Raja Babu type of films.
Chaitanya is at it again in his latest movie The Disciple , and he takes the viewer granted for one more time, and this time more boldly and brazenly and with coldness.
This movie is overhyped , pretentious, the narrative is sluggish and comes from the mindset of a director who wants your total submission at the cost of your attention and more importantly sacrificing & destroying every possibility of entertaining the viewer.
The result is a disastrously made movie which neither entertains and nor engages.
This is a typical film festival movie which is backed by a solid name like Alfanso Curaon who made Gravity and Roma and he is the producer of this movie too.
So, such brand name has ensured its visibility in many international film festivals and no one dare criticize it due to such heavy name backing it up.
Even Anupma Chopra was very guarded about being critical of this film, and she sort of shied away from using harsh words, which she is otherwise not afraid of using on films like Radhe.
This movie is full of long and wide shots which Chaitanya used in his movie court too, with an intention to bring theatrical perspective to the story, but with very little effect to the viewing experience or giving any dimension to the director’s vision.
Slow continuous still shots of 2 to 3 minutes with regular intervals on empty streets of Mumbai with long monologues or long duration classical mehfils shots of the protagonist depicting his struggle to strive at the artform, only make this experience thoroughly boring and jarring.
Such long shots make this film so long, that they work further against its shallow content and its stiff upper lip type approach to its presentation.
Javed saab had shared an anecdote about two types of films that are guaranteed to be definitely boring -
First type - मैं मेरी फिल्म से आपको कुछ सिखाने वाला हूँ -
Second type - आप ने ऐसी फिल्म पहले कभी देखी नहीं है .
I am going to add the third type to it - That you submit yourself to me (the film maker) and watch my film.
The disciple qualifies in all three types.
Just avoid it.
Do you have a personal vendetta against Chaitanya, you are shitting with the same message in every video of "The Desciple" with a copy-paste message. What's the deal?
Marathi cinema and Indian regional cinema rocks, but Bombywood gets all the fame and money.. sad state!
i smell something burning! oh, its just me in flames from jealousy. i wanna make films that normies enjoy and hypnotises cuties. gibe me scrip gafe me editer gruve me sound grip me cinematargofer. basically gift me a parachute full of cash.
