Cardo PACKTALK/BOLD - Multiple DMC Groups? - How To Manage Them

    In a nutshell, you don’t want to have multiple “groups” that include the same people. Only setup different groups if they are truly different riding buddies. Reason is, when everyone you normally ride with is in the same group, your Packtalk will connect with them automatically anyways! For instance; you have 1 group for you and your lady. Then a second group for you, your lady, and another couple you ride with sometimes. This can sometimes result in having to reboot your Packtalks once you get together because the wrong “group” is activate. BUT, if you are all 4 part of the same group, it will work every time under every scenario. Think about it; when it’s just you and the lady, it’s gonna work because she’s in your group. Then, when you meetup with the other couple, that’ll work every time as well, because they too are in the same group with you. Use the “Private Chat” feature if you just want to talk one-on-one with anyone in that group.

    If I pair my phone to my Cardo to change groups, when I pair it back to my 2018 Goldwing, the pairing malfunctions with the motorcycle. Can groups be changed with button presses?

    I’m trying to add an Edge to my bold existing group. It worked a few months ago but not now after updating the edge firmware.
    Now the edge creates a new group with just it & my bold (that’s all the units present today) & the edge is admin. Next time we ride with the group, I guess we’ll have to start pairing all over again

      I don't think anything changed with this on the latest update for Edge, but I do know that the Bold MUST be in grouping/admin mode (flashing red/green) BEFORE you start grouping mode on the Edge, otherwise the Edge will default to admin. Hope that helps!

      I’ll try it again. Thanks!

      I started my Bold pairing first, then started the Edge. The Edge successfully joined my existing group.
      Many thanks! Your videos have helped me immensely!

    I have the PackTalk Bold running the latest firmware. I own one admin group, with several members, which works perfectly. I want to create additional new groups, but the '+ Create new' button in the app is permanently gray-scaled out. Any ideas why?

      Hey Richard, just came across your comment did you end up getting this sorted? I can't imagine why it would be gray-scaled out, other than perhaps the Packtalk was doing something at the time (i.e. playing music, fm, etc.) and not able to create groups without being in standby? Does it work if you try to create a new group using the buttons?

      @@MotoGeekFreak Still a problem. Cardo have been no help - they just suggested general things like a factory reset and firmware refresh, which I did - to no avail. I can still create and join groups via the buttons. It would just be a lot easier via the app itself. I have a regular iPhone X running the latest software. Several of my friends have PackTalks and mine is the only one with this issue. I only have my intercom paired to my phone, it's not paired to any other devices (GPS/TFT, etc). So it's very confusing on face value. Everything else (Cardo/Siri Controls/Connectivity Strength) os all first class. I'm pro Cardo mesh, it's excellent compared with Sena bluetooth. But yes, still a problem, unfortunately!

      Try deleting the app & reload it

      @@dp4racing Cardo replaced my unit 4 years ago. The replacement worked fine. I've move on to an Edge since then.

    Trying to add new people in our group and I’m getting a yellow flash that I understand is pack full, how do I delete people that no longer ride from the pack?

    • @MotoGeekFreak
      @MotoGeekFreak  Před 6 lety +1

      JamieP London Yikes! I don’t believe you can remove someone from the group (they have to remove themselves). If this happens with us we just create a NEW group, or erase the old group that has people we’ll never see again. It would def be cool if they could add this ability though!

      MotoGeek Freak thanks for the reply, I’m the group starter, if I delete the group and start a new group will everyone have to delete the old group.

    • @MotoGeekFreak
      @MotoGeekFreak  Před 6 lety

      JamieP London No, I believe they will all still be part of that group, you will just be leaving it if you delete it on your end.

      If you're riding with your passenger in a group, and another pack talk user that you've grouped with comes into range and it connects but their mic keeps getting activated from wind or exhaust, can you and your passenger back out of that group so you don't have to hear that the entire ride, but still hear each other?
