you have to be named on the insurance, if you are not they confiscate the car. ANPR is automatic number plate recognition, the cameras are all over the UK and they read all car number plates and alert police to stolen cars and cars with no road tax, no insurance etc
Greetings from George Orwell...
You can't just drive other people's cars in the UK. You have to have the registered owners permission otherwise your guilty of TWOC (Taking Without Consent) plus you must have a valid licence and the correct insurance to include driving another person's vehicle as most UK motor insurance policies only insure you upon your own car and not to drive other people's cars.
They are now piloting cameras that can see people using mobile phones whilst driving. That's how far the camera technology has come in the UK. These cameras can get a clear image of the driver because they have filters etc so having tinted windows won't stop them.
Between average speed cameras, fixed speed cameras, mobile speed camera vans, police cars with all the speed detection devices, ANPR and other cameras on them and also all the general CCTV cameras we have in the UK, you have to be brain dead to speed like this or do anything like use a mobile phone whilst driving.
I've been driving 28 years now and I'm proud to say I've never had a single fine or point on my driving licence.
@deezreacts ^^^this exactly, our insurance is done so by DRIVER not simply by vehicle.
Therefore if a friend wants to drive my vehicle I have to insure them separately.
Me neither - I’ve literally never been stopped by the police or got points. My 18 year old son has been stopped three times in the year he’s had his licence likely because he looks a lot younger.
I can drive other peoples cars on my insurance but... their car has to be an insured vehicle, I have to have the insured party's consent (be careful with other peoples company cars the company may well have a policy excluding other drivers) and my policy whilst fully comprehensive on my own vehicle will only be third party on theirs@@jamielocke192
The M6 is I think the UK's longest motorway. It goes from the English Midlands through the Northwest of England to the Scottish border.
Junction 46 it ends at in scotland spent many hours driving to the docks in Cairnryan when gf went home to northern ireland
M6 was meant to reach Glasgow but it got built in a weird order so the different parts that were finished first were given different names. Some of the early signs refer to the M74/A74(M) as the M6 like at service stations etc.
the m25 is definitely one of the busiest tho
@@alexbmwfan342the M25 is a nightmare that my husband and I both have to negotiate to get to work and that’s I’ve sat for 6 hours on.
The A1 is the longest motorway in the UK - 410 miles
A1(M) goes from Edinburgh to London (it goes through the North East like Newcastle to Yorkshire & Yorkshire to London)
1:41 - that actually happened to a friend of mine in 2017 here in the UK. His wife was in labour and the hospital was 20 miles away down a motorway like this. He got followed by police doing 125mph, but they would no way make it to the hospital, he ended up pulling off I to a lay-by at the side of the road, not only to speak to the police but to deliver the baby there and then on the A12! He got let off the speeding ticket since it was exceptional circumstances plus 2am when the road was very quiet! Mad thought:')
Suspended sentence generally means they are given jail time. But they don't actually go to prison. It's suspended for a period of time, If they keep their nose clean for that time then the sentence goes away. If they commit another crime during that time or breach any of the other conditions of release, then they have to serve the time. (plus whatever gets added for the new crime)
On the U.K we have A.N.P.R or automatic number plate recognition. It's linked to the DVLA (driving and hehicle licencing authority. It tells the police, who owns the car, whether its insured or not, has a valid Motor vehicle operators test and any outstanding offences pertaining to said vehicle. Its a pretty stitched up system. And works well.
North Wales gets lots of tourists because it has lots of beautiful countryside and seaside resorts, but this brings lots of bad drivers, so North Wales Police/Heddlu Gogledd Cymru have a reputation for being very strick in enforcing the law
We do a weird mix of metric and imperial units in the UK, no idea why
Beer is in pints, petrol (gas) litres, weight of most things kg, weight of humans are in stones and pounds
We like to be unusual here - like keeping sterling when we were in the EU and everyone else had switched to the Euro.
@@Outnumberedbykidsandcats There are seven countries in the EU which don't use the euro.
Although petrol is sold in litres, we still mostly use gallons otherwise, ie. miles per gallon. There was no point switching to litres, my suspicion is it was used to hide price increases. We were all familiar with the price per gallon, then overnight it became price per litre.
@@FullNietzsche You're not wrong regarding mpg, but I have literally no idea what a gallon is, around 4 litres?
@@aledjango A British gallon is 4.54 litres. (The US gallon is 3.78 litres.)
Dezz, a court imposed punishment of a driving ban for a period of time, in actual fact means very little to the offender. These police programmes are littered with drivers racking up motoring offences and when they're stopped, it emerges that they're currently the subject of a driving ban - and therefore shouldn't be driving. Their punishment will be another driving ban on top of the one they already have. And you can be assured they'll ignore that too. When they drive whilst banned, then they're not insured, so if they hit your car there is only one insurance company to pick the bill up - and that's yours.
If you keep getting caught driving banned you'll end up going to prison though.
We definitely work in miles per hour
Wtf is a Kilometer 🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅
@jackpresley3254 Who's kilometer?
@jackpresley3254 The only non-freedoms units we don't use; approximately 1467 bald eagles
@@jackpresley3254 it's the scientific unit of length. There are 1,079,252,849 km to a light year = about 1.41 TurkeyStraws (TS)
U can't just drive anyone's car. U have to be on the insurance for that car or have ur own insurance that's fully comp to drive any car. U can't just lend it to ur mate and tell them to drive over here
I saw an interview with Wilt Chamberlain recently, ( from the 80's) and he states ..on camera that he would drive sometimes at 150-180 mph LMAO
That dude was a great basketball player, and also a great liar
M is for Motorway. Motorways max speed is 70mph (yes mph). M1 and M6 are the two oldest in the country and if its a single number it usually means its a major road for some distance. The M1 goes from London to Leeds, while the M62 connects Liverpool, through Manchester, Leeds and Hull, so its coast to coast. On the privacy question, the UK has CCTV everywhere. High streets, traffic junctions, shopping centers etc and we don't have Amendment rights like you do in the US. Our constitution is uncodified and the bill of rights we do have is so ancient it hardly applies to the modern world.
Isn't the M1 the longest motorway in the country
13:45 we drive on the left, so why would the fast lane by the first lane we merge into? It's not cool it's just a mirrored version of your highways. 😂
12:15 not in this country, you have to have your own insurance that covers driving others cars (not many insurance policies include this nowadays), permission is not enough.
M6. Part of which at Preston was Britains first motorway, runs between Rugby and Northampton to the Scottish border where it becomes the M74. M, signifies a "Motorway" which should be two lanes each side minimum, like the M25, London orbital. Normally, unlike in the US, if an offence is suspected, the driver will be asked to get out of the vehicle. Also, it's still miles on roads as it is 20oz pints of beer in pubs but fuel is in litres! Confused?
The M6 is a motorway.
Police cameras get a picture of the driver of every car that passes it & now the new cameras can even tell if you are on the phone or have your seatbelt on.
That generation of Vauxhall Astra (the Astra H, 2004-2011) was actually sold in the US as the Saturn Astra for the 2008 model year only, but only a few thousand 3-door and 5-door 1.8 litre petrol/gas hatchbacks were sold. The Astra is a German Opel design, and was sold in Europe as the Opel Astra.
The majority of people who are banned from driving will no doubt take a chance and drive again. I think once you've had the freedom of having a car and being able to drive, it's hard to be forced to stop. I can drive but I've never owned a car. I think there's too many idiots driving on our roads.
You’ve probably heard this already, but in UK someone else can’t drive your car unless their are listed on your insurance policy or they have taken out temporary insurance
Think about it dude. The driver has no insurance.
So the passengers cant just drive the car because they don't have insurance either.
You need to get Brit Box and see the uk shows RPU and 24 hrs in custody to see the difference between US and Uk police
15:20 I remember a celebrity guest on Top Gear back in the day, got caught doing 210mph, they were joking about it on the show.
I don't know about the UK tactics but doors can be opened by police officers in some countries to get a clearer view of the inside. It's much harder to be surprised by a gun and easier to shove the door on them and back away if needed. Given that UK cops are mostly unarmed, this could be the reason behind it.
an educated guess would be that the drivers side is right side , mere feet away from live traffic. obviously you have to go to the left side of the car when approaching and the diver doesn't then have to lean over to open the door or open his side and endanger themselves. thus the officer can just open the left door to make everything easer , witch i completely agree with.
Ye i think its an instant ban as soon as you do over 100mph over here in the uk bro
That's the starting point for consideration by the courts, correct, though it is not automatic. There are ways to get around it, notably the "exceptional hardship" defence, but that can be a tough sell, and it refers to exceptional hardship a ban would cause to an innocent third party, moreso than to the defendant themselves. Note: I.A.N.A.L.
@@nobbynobbynoob the "hardship" rule is for self-empoyed taxi drivers who did 43 in a 30 ... not fucking 135mph!
That idiot's not getting the "hardship" rule, I can tell you that!
Can you imagine the consequences if this chump was let out on the road again because of "hardship" - and then knocks somebody dead at 100mph?
The usual press conference ... "we need to learn the lessons - about why this convicted dangerous driver was allowed to just 'carry on' driving??"
That's never going to happen - he's a menace, a threat to life. He won't be a fatal menace for a couple of years at least.
his biggest punishment will be insurance premiums, let put it this way his next car will be lucky to get to 130 lol
Saturn Astra in North America 2008-2009. Buick Excelle XT 2009-2015. They made a tuned up version in Europe called the Astra VXR 170ish bhp and top speed of 135ish from stock but they were easy to customise and make faster.
That guy doing 150mph will probably be going to prison for that speed.
So he won't be seeing his kid much for a while.
UK still uses miles, Republics of Ireland has used kilometres since 2005.
And in both countries, the driver has to be named on the insurance policy. The exceptions would be:
1) someone having a so-called open insurance on their own car, allowing them to borrow a car with same size or smaller engine
2) someone with a trade insurance, e.g. a mechanic or a car salesperson
Look at German Autobahns.
we also call it community service and while doing the service the have to wear a hi vis vest that identifies you as an offender, you see them picking up litter and stuff as your driving around
M roads are motorways - I imagine like your interstates, A roads are main roads and B roads are smaller roads usually.
Anglesey, north as u can get in Wales.
with the door opening , an educated guess would be that the drivers side is right side , mere feet away from live traffic. obviously you have to go to the left side of the car when approaching and the diver doesn't then have to lean over to open the door or open his side and endanger themselves. thus the officer can just open the left door to make everything easer , witch i completely agree with. (I've no idea tbh , just a guess )
The M6 is a freeway, we call a motorway
"Wow your guys fast lane is the right-hand side" not hating on nothing but no sh*t sherlock we drive on the left hand side so it only makes sense our fast lane is on the right-hand side
🤓
In the UK you can’t just drive anybody’s car. First you need a valid drivers license and insurance required for each driver of the vehicle regardless of who they are.
Hi Dezz
the M6 is basically a motorway ( highway ) that connects most of britain
By the way insurance is for a person not the car, if the individual drives it but isn’t insurance on that car then he isn’t allowed to drive it. That’s why he denied it as he was risking 6 points.
We have something called ANPR all over the country. It picks up the registration plates of every car, all they have to do is type in your registration and it’ll pull up ok their system where ever you have been and images of it. It’s almost impossible to hide if your car has got a marker on it
North Wales rules !!! (Now - I spent majority of my life consulting & working in London & South of England, so lived in the South East
You would be fined and lose your license at 130mph baby or not. The M6 motorway is the busiest in Europe.
the driver must of unlocked his door all cars in the uk auto lock when driving
You're not allowed to drive a car unless you are on the insurance for that car.
We cant drive anyones car here, you have to be insured to drive them.
ANPR takes a "Polaroid " type picture which shows people in the vehicles and also the registration is logged, if you have no insurance, licence or and other markers e.g weapons, known offender or firearms it pings up, these are on all motorways and the majority of major roads, the police vehicles have ANPR fitted too
Yes they can he didn’t stop when lit up
and youd get beaten or worse for getting out your car we can pretty much move how we want aslong as its not towards the officer,we drive on the other side of the road yes our fast lanes the other side
Eh I think that’s a bit over the top that we would get beaten or worse, talk about over dramatic nonsense
beaten or worse for getting out the car? LOL drama queen
love your reactions bro, from yorkshire ,UK
Police can stop and open any car to check it out.
A driving ban here means you'll have to sit a new extended test at the end of the ban to get your licence back. It also means your insurance will sky rocket to stupid money.
"It was on cruise control." From what? The Bloudhound SSC?
The UK has the highest amount of Cameras surveillance in Europe 1 person ( 18+) = 6 Cameras
12:00 - Actually this is false information bro, if you drive someone elses car, you personally have to be on their insurance, or your insurance states you are allowed to drive someone elses car. Just because im insured on mine, doesnt mean you are insured on other peoples car, every policy is different. In the UK, you are not allowed to drive a car without insurance, you have to have insurance to drive a vehicle on the road.
We drive on motorways and yet its the highways departments who maintain them.
The m6 is Londons Bigset road and the speed lim is 25 kmand was driving in 130 km
I would have thought any cop can open a car door in any country. Just in the UK cops are safer doing that as there's minimal likelihood they'll get shot. In the US my guess is it's procedure not to enter an unknown space without verifying what's inside.
Police can open your door tell you to get out and then book you.
4:24 that was a drug wipe - tests for cannabis and cocaine - the breathalyser tests for alcohol 👍 🇬🇧 ❤
you cant drive others cars if you are not on insurance
We have cameras that takes photos of drivers on there phone just like speed cameras
Here in the UK we actually use a mixture of metric and imperial measurements- also known as Commie Units and Freedom Units, respectively 😁
150mph = 241.402kph
THEY DENIED IT BECAUSE IF THEY ADMIT THEY HAVE NO INSURANCE . HERE 🇬🇧 NO IF NO BUT YOU BORROW SOMEONE CAR YOU HAVE TO INSURE FOR THE DAY FOR LIKE £90 OR ABOUT $100. You cant borrow cars unless insured
Love watching this show as it’s filmed where I live in Cheshire.
Your not allowed to go over 70mph even if your overtaking you get charged.
But I prefer your american intersections we have roundabouts as equivilent which can be a puzzle and a headache.
Excellent channel man,
Much appreciated!
The M6 goes from south to north England and it is a motorway
Why aren't cars just limited to about 80/90 then? Not gonna lie, I've done well into 3 figures when I was young and stupid - but this could all be easily regulated in the UK/EU/USA
We have a section (18) and a section (32) search laws for police to use if they believe that a crime has been committed!🇬🇧🇺🇲
He’s lucky he only opened the door when they stop a car through a high speed police chase the police try getting in through the doors and windows
The 8 months was a suspended prison sentence. He was lucky to get away with community service going that speed. 100 is usually instant ban unless the judge is soft.
"Medical emergency" wouldn't get you off doing 130mph in a 70 zone regardless. Whilst it might be a "medical emergency" you still have to demonstrate you've driven with at least some care and consideration to others. Doing 130 and saying "my wife is pregnant" isn't an excuse.
M means motorway......and the area where the car is.....M8 is Glasgow to Edinburgh...
Should upload more to your patreon be great to see reactin to street wars and road wars on there
That's the plan!
The police officer wasn’t going to walk into the motorway, to talk to the offender. So yes open the door, especially if the plonker didn’t wind down the window.
100mph automatic ban in the UK
you cannot just get into anyone's car, you have to have your name on the insurance. policy.
Great reaction got a Sub from me. 150mph is approximately 241kmh which is insane speeds for public roads
If you thought we went by km per hour then why would the speed be given at the bottom in mph? Also you’re not allowed to drive someone else’s car if you’re not insured on it.
Yes, cops can open the door... there is nothing wrong with the cops opening your door.. does no harm, you can talk easier too.
we have cctv on ALL roads and motoways!
fastest speeding ticket in the uk was 192mph with next fastest being 191mph and so-on so... no -not the fastest in the world... or even in the UK
That was a high speed chase.
12:09 not always, depends on insurance
M stands for motorway and it is slightly different to your freeway
To drive you have to be on the insurance
recommending:
police interceptors
999 rescue squad
motorway cops | catching britain's speeders
inside the force 24/7
police hour of duty
police shift 999
crimefighters | real responders
send in the dogs [uk/aus]
special elite operation team raids
The reason they blurred out his face is most likely due to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), an European Union privacy law that the UK adopted before Brexit, making it a national law. Under the GDPR, no one can have their private information, faces included, used without authorization, unless in some specific situations, such as being on public areas or of interest to the public, like a dangerous criminal the police wants someone who recognizes to call them giving information. I don't know about the specific UK law, but I do know that the GDPR is very strict and our fines, especially for companies such as the show's producer, are astronomical. That is also why more often than not we see US websites blocked in here and redirected to a page that says "this is temporary while we address these issues" for years... Y'all really should start worrying about what data those websites collect, especially news websites which is where I see the most blocks 😅
Criminal offence = police can open a door if it help with communication
M6 motorway through the North 2:48
Sorry for another comment, but quick question, if your slow lane is on the right, when you break down do you pull over next to the fast lane for break down or do you stop in the middle of the road? That sounds really dangerous if you stop either side to be honest
Slow lane is on the left, the "hard shoulder" or "safety lane" is the left edge of the road so traffic on that side is theoretically the slowest (but can still be travelling at up to 70 mph) so in an emergency you pull off and stop on the left, theoretically if you are waiting for assistance you should get out of the car and wait on the other side of the Armco barrier for your own safety, but many people dont. It is surprising how many stopped vehicles are hit by other cars and lorries that drift onto the hard shoulder hence why you are supposed to get out and off the road
Mazdas in Wales 😂🏴
M6 is Motorway 6
Motorways ( M ) speed limit is 70 mph
What the hell was that noise you made from 1:36
open the doors take the keys some times
😊😊
OMG ! you know so little about the uk! Its great that you're doing these reaction videos but so many of the assumptions you make about the UK laws, the purpose and use of number plates, how the police operate (by public consent) are sooooo wrong 🙂 For your next reaction video you should look at how much more freedom we have in the UK & Europe in comparison with the USA.... It's not what you think!
nothing wrong with over 100mph, most these very safe to do that. if busy and in and out traffic yes speeding then dangerous, fast on empty road safe as long as you read road ahead well and know your car limits and stay within them. 1000's daily sit at 100 mph plus on the autobahn with no issue and lot that just two lane and very bumpy in places esp hitting 160mph plus. all these road was well suited for the higher speed and road empty nothing wrong with it, just the nanny state what has an issue with it. not me driving but fastest ive been on uk roads just over 150mph on two lane divide highway and tops 120mph plus on two lane country road and that was in a tuned diesel clouds black smoke covering number plate, even in the last year seen speeds of 135mph. lot my mates love speed most do it when safe i nice clear road, only one i know utter nutter that was the 150mph plus between wrexham and chester trying to make ground from a cop car 20 miles avage more than 130 in and around traffic, even hit a 50 limit bump at way over 120. drive to condition the road and traffic allow it can be safe, running from cops lots traffic and double the limit on the damp roads up to 150-155mph not safe for conditions. speed is safe if all other factors are good, road condition is it bumpy is pot holes how many lanes much traffic, is it dry/ wet/ frosty so if done when all factors line up its safe. i like speed but i will not risk 100mph or more as risk losing license and day in court big fine and points and maybe a ban but the single track lanes only wide enough for a car some 60 limits, not many places you can find a safe spot to do 60-70 on the straights but must be slow before corner as if car comes other direction you must be able to stop, on roads less than ft in total wider than car and jumps and uneven 60 feels like 120 so that where i get my kicks from and done in places i know safe and if i screw up its only me it effects and it driving to conditions drive as fast as far as you see is safe. i leave the high speed stuff for rides in mates cars, i get my kicks just like a rally at times but not to get to carried away and push to much, bit buzz im happy, if i feel im starting to push to hard i pull over take a brake. far more dangerous things like the many who drive mostly blind as they should use glasses to drive but don't use then that is common i know people and met many over the years driving and not seeing clear what ahead a much higher chance running someone over
YOU might be ok at 100mph its the other idiots around you that cause the problems
