    These houses are what we call terrace houses, they were probably 100 years old if not older. They were built for people who worked in the Mills and within walking distance for their work. Hardly any cars then only the rich had them. There used to be a guy who would walk the streets with a long stick to knock on their bedroom windows to get them up for work....he was called a knockerupper.

    "A mandatory hospital order" without length is mandatory 3 days "section" in a mental hospital with rolling confirmation so he's not getting out until he's not a threat. Because he lives next to the victim it means he's not getting out within 1-3 months. The drug "intent to supply" will get him a year easy. If he rents the house, he's out. If he has a mortgage he has 6mths grace then if he can't pay his mortgage, he's forfeit.
    Either way, he's gone and the neighbouring family are safe. Plus, they'll be on an advisory list so any calls to that address will see the cops bring up large to help them.

      It's not three days, a restricted hospital order without limit of time means exactly what it says, it can't be appealed until after six months have elapsed and most times the section is not repealed. When he's discharged, he'll be on a section 42 supervised discharge, meaning he'll have a social supervisor that can recall him to hospital if necessary where a restricted hospital order will start again

    The UK use's the same dogs for general purpose work as the Police in the states e.g. GSD's, Belgian Malinois etc. Specialist dogs, e.g. sniffer dogs can be any breed with many coming from rescue centres. Any dog that shows aptitude for the job will be taken on, & it's the same in the British military. I love the idea of a dog in need being given a new life where you can guarantee, they will be loved & treated well, living at home with their handler.
    Edit * Being given a indefinite hospital order, is worse than prison. Once you are committed to a criminal psychiatric institution, it's hard to get out again. If you do get out, you'll be off to prison anyway.

    In the UK, self defence is not a mitigating circumstance. If you got a sword to protect yourself and used it, you would be charged and convicted of murder. Many years back a UK farmer shot and killed an armed robber in his house and he was jailed for murder as he tried to use self defence but this was rejected. It's called taking the law into your own hands which is not allowed. He has mental health issues which is why he's been sent to a mental hospital. Our country is small and our prisons aren't big enough to hold prisoners for a reasonable time so they get weak sentences or are put on an electronic tag on house arrest during certain hours.

    A hospital order without time limit means that he can be detained in a secure mental hospital until a committee of qualified people consider that he is no longer a risk to the public. Parking in those kind of areas is crazy. You get cars parked on both kerb sides of the road. That's because the houses look as if they are terraced houses which are all attached. They use to be workers houses when they were built, especially in northern industrial towns around 120 years ago. So obviously at the time the houses were built, no driveways were built because no one had a car at that time.

    So, regarding gathering housing, that's what is called terraced housing, where most of the road is side by side. It tends to be where old er industrial or mining areas, where homes were for the workers, dating back in to the 1900s. Similar housing will be found in towns where slightly less space is available. They tend to be direct on street but will likely have a back yard which is accessible via a lane/road for services like waste refuse, etc.

    • @crowbo
      @crowbo Před 10 měsíci

      Regarding the arming of officers, they'll have a baton/truncheon, spray, may have a taser and only specially trained officers will have firearms. Generally, the public doesn't want to see officers walking around armed, the aim to be "policed by consent" in the UK. So theoretically, more community policing, approachable, etc.
      Citizens are not armed, therefore the police doesn't need to be (in the main).

    • @crowbo
      @crowbo Před 10 měsíci

      Finally, police training in UK is far more in depth and longer than in US.
      US police average around 20 weeks training, UK police officers training lasts 2+ yrs across classroom, on job and continuous personal development.
      Sadly, the perception that some US cops get ahanded a badge and a gun after minimal training and seem to act like a sheriff from the wild west doesn't seem too far from the truth.

  • @mparkes1821

    The UK is a tiny island, space is a premium, we have different types of homes but in housing estates many will be what we call terraced houses which consist of four homes in one building, homes generally are tiny here consisting of a lounge and kitchen down stairs and bathroom and bedrooms upstairs. People like that guy believe it or not are few and far between, most of us do not require or want weapons inc guns in our homes, we find it appropriate that only specially trained police units have them outside of the military which is why most of us cannot understand the US obsession with guns and yes we have had one or two incidents involving shootings over the years these are obtained through the black market and are exceptional cases

  • @mickydoos

    Nope, not all cops are taser trained. I was in for 3½ years before I did my taser course
    There's a power of entry without warrant under S17 PACE to arrest a suspect for an indictable offence (so would do here as criminal damage and possession of a bladed article in public are both such offences)

  • @iallyl3877
    @iallyl3877 Před 10 měsíci +1

    Not all houses are like these in the UK, these are terraced and are normally cheaper, we also have semi detached and detached, there are also different types of terrace houses, more modern ones are only 3 in a row, not whole streets like these ones, these ones that are narrow but quite deep are 100s of years old, with regards to us being too lenient, i agree, but it costs the government £46000 per year per prisoner, so they try to avoid prison sentences as much as possible, or give out minimal sentences, every prison in the UK is government funded

    The police normally require a warrant to break into and search a property unless the owner gives consent. However, there are a few exceptions, but mainly:
    - if someone is in danger of harm or death,
    - (pay special attention to this one) being allowed in. But the legal meaning of this is a pretty grey area. Basically if you open the door to a police officer, you've dramatically increased the chances of them raiding your home. Because as soon as they get their foot in the door, that's it.
    In the UK, unless you called them for something really serious, NEVER open the door or speak to the police. They may NOT be on your side and their allegiances change.

Even a work knife has size limits. There is another vidio where a man has a Machete is surrounded by police I think it was six useing six foot riot shields where they push him up agenst a wall where they disarm him and put him in cuffs , this is a technique they use in UK prison riots

      As above from another.. the only reason to have these is you are contemplating becoming a violent criminal yourself. Premeditated "self-defence" is illegal, it's also an assault. It's why you can't walk around with a knife...

    These houses are probably a hundred years old You must remember that the uk is a small island so you cannot compare the size of property between the us & uk we do have large houses on a whole the houses in cities are small We are not allowed to have weapons we can be arrested for owning weapons

  • @nobbybrown8056

    In the uk you cannot attack someone who breaks into your house, if you cause harm to them you get prosecuted, all you can do is use reasonable force to restrain them until cops get there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    And as you saw the drugged up nutter gets a crazy lean sentence which will do nothing to stop him in the future.
    People who defend their homes with violence here in the UK usually end up with more jail time than the P.O.S. criminal, who has just committed his 100th crime. There is no justice.

    • @jonathangoll2918

      I have seen a case where a householder killed an intruder, and was not punished. I believe English law permits self-defence, provided it is proportionate. If you think someone is trying to kill or seriously harm you, you are allowed to fight.
      The papers made a big thing about a Lincolnshire(?) farmer who got jailed for killing an Intruder. But the farmer spoilt the argument for self-defence because he'd had the licence for his gun withdrawn; the intruder - who was only a youngster - was indeed trying to burgle, but not attacking him, and the farmer - who admittedly had had problems with intruders in the past - shot him in the back.
      At the moment, the Government - trying to protect its very wealthy friends from being taxed properly - is not supplying anything like enough funds to pay for a decent police force. If there were more police all sorts of problems would be nipped in the bud.
