A couple of decades ago, I was a policeman. The problem with being armed with anything is that you're likely to use it. We had big wooden sticks and a wistle...
I never had to use either.
True. I was never a cop, but did international services. And i never used my gun, because negotiating was just dumming down the obvious to people drunk or stoned. 9/10 cases ended in handshakes.
A good Bouncer never needs fight either
Dude,we are not even allowed pepper spray,in the UK you cannot carry anything to be used for self defense.
Indeed. Literally ANY THING can be considered a weapon if carried for "self defence". Most people don't realise what that actually means.
My father found out the hard way years ago after being charged with "assault with an offensive weapon" after throwing a sausage and tomato sandwich at John Towers during the Rover strikes. Not kidding 🤦🏼♀️
Because you lose the defence of spontaneous defence... if you are carrying for defence... you are pre-emptively carrying to hurt someone.
@@babalonkie thanks for adding that clarification👍
In mitigation i was still drinking first coffee of the day when I commented 😉
LOL I just died reading that! @@Rachel_M_
@@margaretflounders8510 😁 you're welcome. They reduced it to common assault with criminal damage (tomato stains on his suit) after a couple of adjournments....... Perhaps because it didn't have pepper or mustard on 🤷♀️...
He Received a 6 month bind over, but they won the strike against BMW who owned Rover at the time... My father said it was worth it to keep their old, better, contracts 😂
These houses are what we call terrace houses, they were probably 100 years old if not older. They were built for people who worked in the Mills and within walking distance for their work. Hardly any cars then only the rich had them. There used to be a guy who would walk the streets with a long stick to knock on their bedroom windows to get them up for work....he was called a knockerupper.
You can get upto about 14years if you are using as a weapon to damage people lives
"A mandatory hospital order" without length is mandatory 3 days "section" in a mental hospital with rolling confirmation so he's not getting out until he's not a threat. Because he lives next to the victim it means he's not getting out within 1-3 months. The drug "intent to supply" will get him a year easy. If he rents the house, he's out. If he has a mortgage he has 6mths grace then if he can't pay his mortgage, he's forfeit.
Either way, he's gone and the neighbouring family are safe. Plus, they'll be on an advisory list so any calls to that address will see the cops bring up large to help them.
I work in one of these hospitals actually - and it's not just a 3 day hold. The length is decided by the DOJ & the secretary of state.
It's not three days, a restricted hospital order without limit of time means exactly what it says, it can't be appealed until after six months have elapsed and most times the section is not repealed. When he's discharged, he'll be on a section 42 supervised discharge, meaning he'll have a social supervisor that can recall him to hospital if necessary where a restricted hospital order will start again
@@DK-cy5mt Precisely - and the decision ultimately is down to the Psychiatrists & director. Quite literally there until you're able to show that you're "better". We've had people in our unit for the last 20 years.
@@kaneowen9671 if restricted the ministry of justice also has to agree to your discharge or moving down to a lower level of security
The UK use's the same dogs for general purpose work as the Police in the states e.g. GSD's, Belgian Malinois etc. Specialist dogs, e.g. sniffer dogs can be any breed with many coming from rescue centres. Any dog that shows aptitude for the job will be taken on, & it's the same in the British military. I love the idea of a dog in need being given a new life where you can guarantee, they will be loved & treated well, living at home with their handler.
Edit * Being given a indefinite hospital order, is worse than prison. Once you are committed to a criminal psychiatric institution, it's hard to get out again. If you do get out, you'll be off to prison anyway.
01:50 "So do you guys have like machetes or like a sword or something like in your house just in case someone breaks in?"
No. We're civilised.
Got a rolling pin!
Might seem hard to believe but having interacted with prisoners in the UK that have previously spent time in mental institutions they always say the jail is much better than Hospital, in Hospital they are sedated and drugged from morning till night- they described it as being locked in a body you can not control
The police could have entered the house in these circumstances!
These are old terraced streets found in most towns/cities where there is high population.
We just call the police. If you are in danger you may use anything that comes to hand for self defence .
Yes, but it has to be proportional,so if somebody punches you in the face and you hit them over the head with a hammer because it is to hand, you won't win a self defence claim in court.
Possession of an offensive weapon could be up to 5 years
here in the uk we kill the old way🤣we are allowed firearms in th uk including ar15s and uzis in certain configurations and also long barrel handguns, the difference is vetting and good legit reason for having them.
Hospital order can be indefinite so he won’t be released until he his deemed to be safe for release into the public domain
Meaning he's going to be in a wheelchair before he's released.
I lived next to a local "character" who was listed as a vulnerable young adult... Code for "nut likely to go wild at a moment's notice". Last time he was in the news he'd been hit 5 times with Taser devices after he'd broken his mother's skull.
Vulnerable. Yeah. 😐
UK police CS gas is actually a mixture of CS gas and pepper spray.
5 years minimum for a firearm.
Up to 5 years for a blade over three inches long.
The dog is obviously the mans pet bro 😂
lol 😂
Back up doesn’t mean armed police u have to have a very solid strong reason to why u want a authorised firearms officer at the seen. Doesn’t go for easy option a gun, fight and protect properly without firearms.
He got a hospital order without a time limit, if they deem him to be a nutter he could be locked up for years
In the UK, self defence is not a mitigating circumstance. If you got a sword to protect yourself and used it, you would be charged and convicted of murder. Many years back a UK farmer shot and killed an armed robber in his house and he was jailed for murder as he tried to use self defence but this was rejected. It's called taking the law into your own hands which is not allowed. He has mental health issues which is why he's been sent to a mental hospital. Our country is small and our prisons aren't big enough to hold prisoners for a reasonable time so they get weak sentences or are put on an electronic tag on house arrest during certain hours.
as said before these houses were built for workers, i live in one in the north of england, they were called two up two down, the toilets were outside back in the day, that was changed decades ago, the rental for these houses are cheap in the north, our loft has been converted to a bedroom, making it a 3 bedroom property. average rent is 370 to 400 a month
A hospital order without time limit means that he can be detained in a secure mental hospital until a committee of qualified people consider that he is no longer a risk to the public. That could be a life sentence. there certainly used to be a sentence, "Detained at His Majesty's Pleasure," which meant the same thing. Not sure whether it still exists.
11:45 "It's probably fentanyl" nah bro that shi doesn't make you come out the door swinging, it makes makes you zombified
And what they said at the end. He got a hospital order without timelimit means he was thrown in a mental institution and wont be out for a very long time
Here in the UK you are allout rifles but they're only for hunting or pest control (animals that might cause harm to live stock such as ducks or chickens) and you have to register each gun you own with the police. My dad owns 5 rifles he uses for pest control for family and friends and I remember him getting his licence renewed couple years back
Yes parking is shit if a delivery driver like me, You have to stop in road
Oof
Bro said is that our K9 units 😂😂
I like this guy he is so shocked when he sees the way the police work in the uk love the videos keep them coming peace out 👍🇬🇧
Parking in those kind of areas is crazy. You get cars parked on both kerb sides of the road. That's because the houses look as if they are terraced houses which are all attached. They use to be workers houses when they were built, especially in northern industrial towns around 120 years ago. So obviously at the time the houses were built, no driveways were built because no one had a car at that time.
He was actually sentenced to hospitalization with no release date. I wouldn't call that lenient.
All those weapons are legal in the home but because he took them out the house and used them its a crime, we can own knifes and swords but they have to remain in the house and cannot be used for "self defence"
I hope his little dog is ok. It chased after him
So, regarding gathering housing, that's what is called terraced housing, where most of the road is side by side. It tends to be where old er industrial or mining areas, where homes were for the workers, dating back in to the 1900s. Similar housing will be found in towns where slightly less space is available. They tend to be direct on street but will likely have a back yard which is accessible via a lane/road for services like waste refuse, etc.
Regarding the arming of officers, they'll have a baton/truncheon, spray, may have a taser and only specially trained officers will have firearms. Generally, the public doesn't want to see officers walking around armed, the aim to be "policed by consent" in the UK. So theoretically, more community policing, approachable, etc.
Citizens are not armed, therefore the police doesn't need to be (in the main).
Finally, police training in UK is far more in depth and longer than in US.
US police average around 20 weeks training, UK police officers training lasts 2+ yrs across classroom, on job and continuous personal development.
Sadly, the perception that some US cops get ahanded a badge and a gun after minimal training and seem to act like a sheriff from the wild west doesn't seem too far from the truth.
The UK is a tiny island, space is a premium, we have different types of homes but in housing estates many will be what we call terraced houses which consist of four homes in one building, homes generally are tiny here consisting of a lounge and kitchen down stairs and bathroom and bedrooms upstairs. People like that guy believe it or not are few and far between, most of us do not require or want weapons inc guns in our homes, we find it appropriate that only specially trained police units have them outside of the military which is why most of us cannot understand the US obsession with guns and yes we have had one or two incidents involving shootings over the years these are obtained through the black market and are exceptional cases
Nope, not all cops are taser trained. I was in for 3½ years before I did my taser course
There's a power of entry without warrant under S17 PACE to arrest a suspect for an indictable offence (so would do here as criminal damage and possession of a bladed article in public are both such offences)
Not all houses are like these in the UK, these are terraced and are normally cheaper, we also have semi detached and detached, there are also different types of terrace houses, more modern ones are only 3 in a row, not whole streets like these ones, these ones that are narrow but quite deep are 100s of years old, with regards to us being too lenient, i agree, but it costs the government £46000 per year per prisoner, so they try to avoid prison sentences as much as possible, or give out minimal sentences, every prison in the UK is government funded
Even when guns were legal in the UK, they were never really seen in the same way as America. They've never really been an everyday defensive weapon.
That's not our K9 units. Our police force exclusively uses Corgis.
My legal and not so legal home defence weapons consist of several paintball guns, with a mix of paint, glow in the dark paint, and solid rubber projectiles. I have several pieces of sports equipment, baseball bat, cricket bat, and a rounders bat (with their respective balls obviously 😉), knives in the kitchen (general kitchen knives), an electric boil kettle (provided I would have time to boil it), and finally myself who is a sadistic and angry person that is more than happy to take their frustration and anger out on an intruder.
They have German Shepherd dogs for bringing down scum. It always bothers me when this sort of thing happens with the weapons they found, so what, I'm a normal ish law abiding citizen and my weaponry in my home is more dangerous to be on the receiving end like swords amongst other similar in various places in my home. You'll only get nicked if the weapon is illegal or you're carrying it on the street or using it on someone. At 14 I had crossbows lol
Tasers are classed as firearms. Only police who have been trained are allowed to use them and only when authorized.
1:51 it's illegal to own anything for the purpose of using it as a weapon in self defence. You can, within reason, use something in self defence, but you can't own a weapon for that purpose. A lot of people do have cricket bats in their bedrooms, which is technically illegal but a lot of people do it, which I think is fair enough.
Aww, my commitment was removed. That's a shame.
They don't need gloves.... they have body cameras ... and that is the guy's home.... clearly the weapons are his!
That was about 6-7 years ago more officer now have tazer but it should be standard issue to everyone no matter on role and rank
If they believe that a crime has been committed they can enter under certain conditions called (section 18)and (section 32) search rites it is lawful for them to do! They don't need a court warrant it's automatically in place!
They put the door thru if they know person they are looking for is there in most circumstances they need a warrent for that person i think
We do have police dogs like US - there are special dog handlers. You’ll see a lot of them in Police Interceptors (sorry - replying to another vid 😂)
7:32 yes the cops do have to warrant to go in
The police normally require a warrant to break into and search a property unless the owner gives consent. However, there are a few exceptions, but mainly:
- if someone is in danger of harm or death,
- (pay special attention to this one) being allowed in. But the legal meaning of this is a pretty grey area. Basically if you open the door to a police officer, you've dramatically increased the chances of them raiding your home. Because as soon as they get their foot in the door, that's it.
In the UK, unless you called them for something really serious, NEVER open the door or speak to the police. They may NOT be on your side and their allegiances change.
Lol that dogs the mans pet
He's gone for a LONG time! Secure mental hospital for violent criminals. No release date.
We can have cricket bats 🤣
You're disgusted that the druggie madman next door has an axe and is willing to use it. Imagine if he had easy access to a gun. FFS, keep up at the back.
They don’t need a warrant to enter in this scenario because they have good reason to believe (in this case know) that the person inside has committed a serious crime.
It’s terraced housing. I live in one. They’re great houses.
I've got high powered air rifles, crossbow's, sword, knives, axe's, throwing knives, and a large Rottweiler but first of all me, highly trained in wing chun,ex soldier, ex boxer with a calm exterior 😂
They will be breaking into the wrong house 😂
@@DezzReacts you'd think so wouldn't ya 🤣🤣
I do think a lot of the sentences given are too light but in this case the man clearly had medical issues as he received a hospital order which means it is indefinate and he will be held until it is deemed he is no longer a risk to the public. In theory he might never be released though he is likely to be released within a few years with proper medication etc.
Yeeah most of them houses are stacked like that.
I do see a lot more detached buildings starting to pop up as city borders expand though
Most Homes in Big Cities in the UK are like that Especially in CITYS like Liverpool because of the Dockyards ! From the 19th to the 1970’s SHIP BUILDING IN THE UK WAS BIG BUSINESS ALONG WITH COAL MINING MOST OF THE TRADE CAME INTO LIVERPOOL GOING BACK MORE THAN 200 YEARS from when we had the Original 13 in the USA and the Empire too ?.
M8 here in England we have some right messed up people
atleast we dont shoot everybody
You can now buy HD guns that shoot large rubber balls and at point blank range will stop someone in their tracks they come under paintball gun category which you don't need a license for. Aslong as you don't take it out with you your ok.
The German shepherd is the uk police dog.
Hospital orders often end up being whole life.
Dezz you can only carry self defence weapons if you record what happens as evidence. You are allowed to carry pepper spray or bat if you record the self defence.
And you are allowed firearms via a licence in the UK
So if somebody is running at you with violent intent you best get your phone out and piss about getting the camera app open and hitting record first? Fucking joke lol. I get why obviously, but that is just funny.
Hahah hopefully you’re conveniently wearing a body cam or a go pro wherever you go haha
Owning or carrying pepper spray is an offence in the UK @steve00alt70
Tasers haven’t been out in uk that long tbf
we dont live like that though!! mostly people get on with neighbours
All police carry CS gas but they have to be specifically trained to use tasers.
9:52 it come's under class A
its the mans dog
Most uk police have tasers now especially what is happening right now on are streets. And sometimes ive seen cops with guns.
6:46 no that is a drug dog
Gloves so the police don't leave fingerprints and not to contaminate any evidence.
8:51 no only some of them are
charges are too soft due to overcrowding at the grey bar hotel
Think this is a good example of what not to do
Its not illegal to owen these tools they could be said to be used for work like as a part time Garderner . But carrying them in public while not ngaged in work is illegal. Even a work knife has size limits. There is another vidio where a man has a Machete is surrounded by police I think it was six useing six foot riot shields where they push him up agenst a wall where they disarm him and put him in cuffs , this is a technique they use in UK prison riots
Same situation in us, guy gets shot, dead. Smh.
If he has the weapons in his hands raising them at officers like he’s gonna swing forsure
@DezzReacts news last week. Guy (black) mistaken for suspect, tackled to ground while still holding his baby. (Us). Cops are too quick to assume person guilty
@@DezzReacts shooting him definitely isn't needed in this situation, which would happen in the US. Here cops are good enough to arrest a suspect that is a threat, without having to kill them

What do you mean why are they wearing gloves? If somebody is pulling weapons police don't need the warrant because it's in mid crime I misspelled

Love your videos been watching alot of them but I've noticed something watching people from USA they make up this non existent word called let me know " your guyzes" comments on that " your guyzes what sorta work is that :p in proper English you would say can you all let me know your comments :p your guyzes ain't a word :p
We're not allowed to have any weapons for self defense, even in our own homes. The civil rights of violent criminals are more important than our rights to personal safety.
As above from another.. the only reason to have these is you are contemplating becoming a violent criminal yourself. Premeditated "self-defence" is illegal, it's also an assault. It's why you can't walk around with a knife...
@@DevonRefSM I disagree. If I’m sitting in my house minding my own business, watching TV and someone bursts through the door with an axe and tries to kill me, me wanting to defend myself and not be murdered doesn’t make me a violent criminal.
The law needs to change.
check out UK police ranks.
" you Brits are crazy" says the American who says we just shoot them if they try and break in 😂😂, but the woke complain about the Police using tasers even Tho all dont have them, we call Police dogs land sharks lol
Me, My Family, Kids come before A crimminal breaking in my house lol
Are all sentences over there consecutiv then? N them houses there just city houses them
Yeah if you’re charged and found guilty on multiple charges they add all the time up. Say you get armed robbery (10 years
) and attempted murder (20 years) you’d serve 30 years. (But obviously there are plea deals and stuff if it doesn’t go to trial)
@@DezzReacts crazy that ,people think the uk soft cuz of police not havin guns but thay see it like , more guns on the streets n it works people rather fight it out over heat lol guns only only appear in area code gangs n drug deals we got that 1 street 🤣
@@Greavez-87 UK sentencing is soft AF there's no denying that. That's why modern yoots are so brazen with their wannabe gangster antics these days. They're not scared of the punishment. Guns are a different issue.
These houses are probably a hundred years old You must remember that the uk is a small island so you cannot compare the size of property between the us & uk we do have large houses on a whole the houses in cities are small We are not allowed to have weapons we can be arrested for owning weapons
In the uk you cannot attack someone who breaks into your house, if you cause harm to them you get prosecuted, all you can do is use reasonable force to restrain them until cops get there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And as you saw the drugged up nutter gets a crazy lean sentence which will do nothing to stop him in the future.
People who defend their homes with violence here in the UK usually end up with more jail time than the P.O.S. criminal, who has just committed his 100th crime. There is no justice.
I have seen a case where a householder killed an intruder, and was not punished. I believe English law permits self-defence, provided it is proportionate. If you think someone is trying to kill or seriously harm you, you are allowed to fight.
The papers made a big thing about a Lincolnshire(?) farmer who got jailed for killing an Intruder. But the farmer spoilt the argument for self-defence because he'd had the licence for his gun withdrawn; the intruder - who was only a youngster - was indeed trying to burgle, but not attacking him, and the farmer - who admittedly had had problems with intruders in the past - shot him in the back.
At the moment, the Government - trying to protect its very wealthy friends from being taxed properly - is not supplying anything like enough funds to pay for a decent police force. If there were more police all sorts of problems would be nipped in the bud.
Bit of a myth created via the media...
@@jonathangoll2918 key phrase "shot him in the back". I think if that was the case in the US it would be the same deal. They're no longer a threat if they're running away. Having said that I don't think anybody should face a big punishment for protecting their property. Killing is a tough one though because they morally need concrete proof that it was justified.
you would be surprised how many people are now arming themselves for intruders you need something in every room so where ever you are in the house you can grab something quick
What planet do you live in!!! 😂
You must live in a rough area, your street is not the whole country lol. I would not blame them for having something hidden if they live in a shithole though.
Can Americans speak a sentence with using “like” 50 times?
Knives are treated same as gun. Lethal weapons. However so is pepper spray, treated same as firearm. I have to buy legal alternative for my personal protection. Spray has nasty unpleasant smell and dye in it.
