chances are they've been used/fired prior to shipping and/or was also loaded with live rounds which would have got it picked out by dogs. they're more likely to run a dog over everything before picking suspect items out for further examinations.

Hand guns were banned post Dunblane School massacre nearly 40 years ago. You can own many other guns providing you have a good reason to do so and pass strict police and doctor tests. Guns need to be in a locked gun safe in your home with ammunition away from said gun.
Many years ago where I lived the armed police raided a house nearby. They woke me up shouting armed police. The whole street was closed off. There was a dozen armed police with guns pointing at the house. Turned out someone had reported them as having illegal firearms but they were bb guns (which are legal).

have you watch the video, when guns became illegal in the UK after the school shooting in 1996, since then, we have never had a school shooting since dumblain, yet there have been 389 in the US, kids in US go to school with bullet proof back packs, i have one more comment

Why it is so Expensive is that Handguns are illegal in the UK since the Dunblane Massacre, where 16 children aged 5 and 6 were shot dead at their school plus there teacher. From that day in 1996 there was an outcry in the UK to ban Handguns, Automatic weapons and Semi Automatic weapons which was passed in Parliament and the House of Lords in 1998, so it is against the law to have these Firearms in the UK . It didn't "get through" X ray ,the police needed to track it to its destination and arrest the buyers/importers when they could prove knowledge of the guns .
At any time before that "we didn't know about them" could be used as a defence !
The UK banned short arms, which can be concealed. This covers handguns, but also firearms such as an Uzi or other short length weapons.
You can own a hand gun, but to make it legal to carry it must be permanently extended, to effectively make it a carbine. This looks incredibly silly, but doesn't effect the performance significantly. English Shooter has done a video on this, link is below.
Semiautomatic weapons are also banned, except in .22 LR calibre, but you can effectively have any firearm you want, as long as there is no gas regulator. See UK guns post, second link below.

UP to $6000 for a gun. That's probably the max in certain situations. I'm sure you can get guns cheaper than that (obviously illegally).
There are certain kinds of guns/firearms you can buy legally in the UK but you have to go through a long and vigorous process. And you need a valid reason. And it has to be locked away.

We have a lot of gun clubs and shooting ranges where with a license you can own higher caliber guns. So most of the time these people will have them kept at the clubs under lock and key. Yes farmers obviously keep their shotguns etc on their premises and some people can keep guns at home aslong as the correct measures are taken and inspected by a firearms officer. All my guns and crossbows are legal without a license, crazy laws as my crossbows would cause more damage than a 9mm within a shorter distance. But people like me should be able to keep guns as I'm responsible I don't go out with them unless I'm booked into a range or visiting private land with permission to fire them. Problem is there's so many irresponsible and crazy people that just ruin it for everyone else who enjoy the sport.
Our prisons are full and it has been policy to half prison terms which i assume was designed to help the overcrowding so prison is only a deterrent for those first timers in for something like a traffic offence but the majority of criminals in prison for more serious crimes more often than not come out after a short prison term to commit more crimes . In my time on this planet i have seen human compassion lacking more and more leading to a logical conclusion that it will reach a high that the elitist establishment that controls us will act in a draconian manner.

First time to your channel - recommended by CZcams. Absolutely fantastic report you provided. Firearms are inaccessible to the everyday citizen over here. There has to be a good reason to have one, and obtaining the licence would undergo much rigour and scrutiny.

Most criminals in the UK don't want guns. If they are caught with a gun that is 5 years added to their sentence. If they are seen with one that would attract the attention of armed police.
