Definitely going to hold final judgement until we get the ammo in hand. For now I, like many others, am excited to see how the community will adapt hyper rounds into existing blasters...or new ones?
We're not committing to anything until trying the blasters ourselves, but we will probably be banning Hyper from our local games. Rival is already a challenge to collect during the final sweep. Hyper looks like it would hide much more in the grass and there will potentially be 4x more of it to find. I want to make sure we'll be able to continue to clean up the park to my standards to keep a good relationship with park officials and to protect the geese that already try to eat our ammo midgame. I'd imagine it would be too large of an undertaking to clean them off an entire campus for HvZ games. If I played at an indoor venue, I'd be much more excited about Hyper. I am also very much looking forward to playing with the blasters around the house (after being sure my cats won't eat the ammo). -A
Since everyone's figured out that the best use case for rival is high capacity hoppers and full auto fire, hyper is just the evolution of this concept. Fit more rounds in a smaller space by just making the ammo smaller. Don't think it's about trying to lure other people away from other faux gun hobbies. Stock performance ain't gonna do this
We were just talking about introducing 3 new tag sports to the club: laser ops, rivals and hyper. We don’t have rival cos it’s illegal in New Zealand. Two weeks ago, we decided to include it but with specific blasters. Hyper needs it’s own class cos having cross play with rivals would be super annoying for the fact that you have to seperate the rounds post-rounds. But you’re right. Hyper wouldn’t work in the long run if they don’t bring more blasters to the fray. Yeah. They hate the community that we’ve all built but after-market companies will always have our backs!! Aftermarket rounds will be to go to. But I wouldn’t use rival/hyper outdoors. That will be costly.
Not sold myself, but I see the potential. The capacities will probably be good for dummy-proof HvZ loadouts. Also, like every non-Elite blaster series, it's gonna live or die on availability of cheap ammo.
The balls are going to be 1/3rd smaller than rival (3/4” diameter vs 7/8”) and a different more dense foam. All rival springers can now be shotguns.😅 Any hopper fed rival will hold moar ammo. Just need to redo the flywheel cages.
I’m just glad I haven’t invested too much into rival. This looks to be a straightforward replacement, but I guess time will tell. At least 2021 is already more exciting than 2020 was for nerf!
I’m all for it. If Hasbro made it more affordable, I don’t mind giving them money. But they consistently don’t care about high cost ammo when the consumer needs a lot. Other than that and clean up being a pain, especially outdoors, I am all for it.

I expect they will probably have the same issue as rival at high velocity. A sphere, even a roughened sphere is actually very poor aerodynamically as you cannot get laminar flow over the whole shape so you will always have a turbulent wake that will induce instability in the flight. Maybe tying a piece of thread to them will help stabilise them in flight but it’s hard to say.
Not to "hyped" (heyyy) about the blasters but see alot more potential with the ammo, shells, absolvers airsoft flip nades kinda opposite of the Ultra line, oh third party balls!
I would imagine they will have a similar energy to rival so if they’re leaving the barrel at a slightly higher velocity then they’re probably slightly lighter.
Well knowing how the community is I hope they're dissatisfied with the children's toy so it can get overstocked them clearanced faster so I can pick up a couple more cheaper.
What's concerning is the absence of screws in any pictures; and the safety as well is also non existent. That may be a con but hey, if that's the case then they may be available in my country lol. Rival won't be going in here anytime soon
I'll be getting the two springers, I hate the whzzz noise of the battery blasters and the delay between spotting a target and being able to fire while also giving away your position. Accuracy is going to be the killer. Given Nerf's poor record at making accuracy a priority, I suspect these will be no more accurate that Rival, and so it's just capacity that's a bonus.
@qtsssim Thanks qtsssim! I watched the Aaron video, it reminded me of why I unsubscribed. Not exactly a review, just an unboxing and a lot of messing about. I'm guessing he got all this stuff because he has a huge channel, and isn't going to say anything negative about Nerf stuff he gets for free. He actually did have the Rush 40 pistol at the 4:18 mark but never even showed it outside the box. Maybe he'll show the Rush in a separate video. I did notice they only give 30 rounds with that, and 40 with the Siege. I saw enough here to be sure I'm still getting the two springers, but there are concerns about the ammo being so small and bouncy that it will get lost more. I only play in my back yard so not a huge problem for me, but I see how using these in a public area could present problems collecting up the rounds afterwards.

Official hyper ammo seems to be decently cheap, so I'm hoping potential aftermarket ammo would be even cheaper.

15 cents a round is pretty cheap as far as hasbro ammo goes
Don't see why rival needed a replacement. This new ammo is gonna be a real pain to sweep. High rate of fire isn't much use if the ammo is expensive

I feel like this is Hasbro jumping on an opportunity with the Airsoft/Gel Ball Bans. I do like the light grey carbon fiber look though.

I’d wouldn’t be concerned because they only showed to fancy side usually the screws go on the other side. Also ultra and dino squad have screws
