  • With the continued growth of competitive blaster tag in this nerf hobby, accessible tournament blasters for new players will only become more and more important, so this is the first episode in a new review series focused on whether a blaster is tournament ready or not out of the box.

    Try running the blaster really hard (dry/slamfire repeatedly) to see if the trigger issue breaks in. Also make sure you’re actually fully in battery. We found most people with trigger issues just are not putting the pump handle all the way forward. But we have found some units where the factory over-torqued housing screws which can clamp some of the internal components and prevent them from moving. A tough break in usually fixed it, also loosening the housing screws and retightening them by hand also works. If you ever go to take your housing apart and you find yourself saying “damn these screws are tight” you probably have an over-torqued blaster. We’re sending lower torque specs to them for assembly so should be corrected in the future. Great video BTW, the Chevron darts definitely need a scar barrel at 2 spacers. There’s a 3d printed barrel extension kit coming to the website which will allow any barrel mounted scar to work and also threaded scars will be available for download.

      This is great info to have, I appreciate it! I've got a scar barrel coming in that I'm looking forward to trying.

    Great to see you back at it Jang! Didn't know about the trigger jamming before this. I'm still getting one. Love the design of the Trion.

    Thanks for Covering this blaster Jang! I experienced a lot of the same issues you did in my filming. I ended up removing the slam fire mechanism all together along with the safety and it works flawlessly now.

    • @Jangular

      That's great to know, how easy was the removal for you?

    • @botsnblasters
      @botsnblasters Před rokem +1

      @Jangular it was actually really simple to remove. I'm sure an experienced foam finger like you could figure it out. You will slam fire functionality but it's like I said in my review... what good is having a feature that is locking up the blaster possibly in a crucial moment.

    Great to see more videos on this channel.
    A buddy and I were just talking about the “Place” for the Trion. It’s a little to strong for Blaster Battles with a 150 cap and needs a little work to get it into the 250 cap space reliably.
    Our conclusion was it was better to have injection molded shell and M4 compatibility as a very high starting platform to make a strong tournament blaster

    • @Jangular

      I think it's a great off the shelf blaster to pick up for anyone getting into the hobby and wants something easy.

      @@Jangular - I partially agree. I agree that’s it is a much better starter blaster for competitive play. Easy to get people into the hobby for $125 all in 👍
      But for a 150 Blaster Battle it will often be hitting to hard. Just like the Tomcat.

    Likes: Thin, Ergonomic, solid, Stefan only, Specializing for the 150-220 cap market.
    Cons: (enough for me to pass on it) unreliable locks, you can fire a whole mag just fine and then BAMM, will not fire out of Nowhere when you pull the trigger.
    Basic Nerf Has one with a OOD scar and it is almost as accurate as a MauserFire 2. If only it was more reliable firing every time in battle. If they fix it, pretty cool blaster for mid FPS tourney's

    Are there any concerns as far as the longevity of the internals and everything else? I am quite aware that you can push this blaster too hard in terms of fps but I’m just curious.

    • @Jangular
      @Jangular  Před rokem

      I'm not sure, since it's injection molded even if they did take design ideas from the Nexus I'd think they could get it done anywhere. Though I'm speaking from a place of lacking knowledge in production, so just a guess

      @@Jangular I come from the automotive collision repair world. A lot of components that are “oem aftermarket” are made in the same factory as the “OEM” . I wouldn’t be surprised if this blaster was built in the same factory and or aided in design by the same designer as the nexus pro.

    I still do not get the appeal of slam fire. I've never had a situation where that minor buff to speed outweighs the absolute travesty of accuracy that comes with it. I can just as easily shoot nearly as fast without it if need be and way more accurately.

    • @Jangular
      @Jangular  Před rokem

      There's no denying it can be fun to just go full tilt slam firing away, but it's typically not the most effective, but the number of comp players is still so small that having fun features like that makes sense.

      I wish back in the day the strong arm didn’t have it. Not necessary on that blaster and made the plunger catch weak and finicky.
