City of Ryde Green Waste

  • In this video we see a variety of clips featuring the Ryde Green Waste trucks working hard towards the end of the shift on two separate spring Fridays in the Marsfield Units collection area, where there is always shitloads of vegetation bins to collect from each unit/villa complex. Most of the clips in this video was taken in the late morning around 11am and a minority captured earlier in the morning. In the new City of Ryde Waste Collection contract there are four green waste trucks (753, 757, 758, 759) each identical and on the alternating week instead of picking up greens they collect the recycle. All Green Waste from the City of Ryde is tipped off at Sita's Eastern Creek Facility for processing, with each of the four greens truck completing two solid loads each day, starting at 5am and finishing up just before 12pm on a good day :P The Ryde Side Loader Fleet comprises of the very common Iveco Acco and Superior Pak Series 5 Body. With the start of the spring/summer period of the year just recently, this has resulted in the green waste trucks completing three loads instead of the usual two loads which has resulted in a late afternoon finish and more overtime for the drivers due to extra amount of bins out for collection. But due to a number of reasons just recently either SL29 or SL30 (Ryde Spare Trucks) have been sent out to do a load or two of greens to ease the pressure off the four greens trucks so only two loads have to be completed.
    I was so surprised when I first discovered the Friday Marsfield Unit Collection area and the amount of vegetation bins out for collection with each unit block having on average 10-20 bins per complex which is part of the reason why the Marsfield Units are left to the end of the day as a "cut out" run where all four green waste trucks come in and work together whilst at the same time smashing the bins on. Also another reason is due to the fact that in the new contract there is no crew of runners to pull the bins out at the units as the green waste trucks have to wait for the garbage rear loader to pass through the area as the runners on the rearloaders pull out the veg bins for the side loaders. When I first discovered the area I noticed some good videoing opportunities so I jumped out and tried to get the best of what I could as before I knew it the trucks were all done and on there way to the tip, doesn't take long to finish a run when you have four trucks all working together ey. Big thanks has to go to all the drivers in the vid absolute champions and good workers for letting me get some video and some of the drivers as you will see in the vid were very excited about the extra camera attention :) I hope you guys enjoy watching the video as much as I did filming it and remember to like, fav and sub.

    Those pendulums don't like that green-waste, was really struggling in one of those clips. Love when the shit lifts out of the hopper and spills out like 2:09. Good to see the boys doing their thing again - clearly they all know you too ;)

    • @AussieGarbo67
      @AussieGarbo67  Před 8 lety

      +MitchellM15 Yeah Mitch these pendulums dont like the green waste especially when the truck reaches the 350-400 bin mark, tends to cut out and you just have to manual pack it using the buttons. Most of the trucks average between the 400-450 bin mark on each load but anything over 450 is great but your likely to go over the 10 tonne limit as on Monday a driver packed on 478 and got 12.76 tonne due to the fact that it was wet summer greens. The green waste trucks can only do two loads in the 9.6 hour pay/time frame. They probably could get away with a third but it would mean they would have to do a short second or fist load of 250-300 bins, which is a waste, easier to whinge to management and get one of the spare trucks to knock off a load or two :P Yeah Mitch its good to see all the Ryde drivers all working hard and getting the job done, things are still smoothing out with the contract but other than that all is good, did you hear from Jeff or someone else that Ryde could be getting another bulk bin rearloader as there are apartments going up everywhere ?? Yep thats right Mitch they all know me now as I try and get around to all drivers and runs to have a chat and thats how I gain all the knowledge about the contract and industry. Can't wait to start work in this yard working with all these blokes, going to be awesome and the money is pretty good for a runner as well :)

      @AussieGarbo67  Před 8 lety +2

      +VictorianGarbo® Thanks mate I am glad you enjoyed it, true mate greens is always so heavy in summer time but the green waste drivers get it easy in winter so it is not that bad doing greens as half the year it is long hard days but the other half is easy picking up and early finishes :) I didn't get anything of SL029 as the driver was new to the sidearms and a little slow and in training so thought it was best to let him go without the extra camera attention. But dont worry mate I will have something very soon of SL029 picking up either recycle or trade waste, 029 sounds mad as it has an exhaust leak which gives off a deep loud roar :)

      +MelbourneGarbo® Thanks Caiden, Yeah I know ey the old trucks were so much louder but these ones go alright just a bit sluggish and under powered on the take off and up hills. This run at the Marsfield Greens Units used to never be a chop out run in the old contract, one truck used to handle it all, things changed around in the new contract meaning this had to be left to last. I know all these drivers now even most of the casuals just can't wait to start working in this yard and the money per hour is very good as well :)

    Nice footage, can't believe how quickly the green waste trucks get grubby. Are you sure these are 29m Raptors, I think they are Superior Pak's new 27m all round body (can collect every material type)? Jeremy was telling me the Canada Bay trucks are the same model as the Ryde trucks and are 27m bodies It just doesn't look long enough or tall enough to be a 29m body, it's definitely smaller than our 29m recycling Raptors in Brisbane.

    • @AussieGarbo67
      @AussieGarbo67  Před 8 lety

      +macdonaldjohnstonfan Thanks, doesn't take long for them to get dirty a
      few wet grassy bins does the trick and doesn't help hiding the dirt when
      there white. The drivers used to wash there arms with a pressure washer
      up close but apparently it makes the lifter/grabs play up so now they
      go easy with the water around the lifter. I did get told by one of the
      drivers that they are 29m bodies and I can swear I checked the SPAK
      panel on the body and it said 29m on the first day of the contract. You
      are right the brissy raptors do look bigger than these, tomorrow I will
      have a look at the metal plate on the body and check what size the
      bodies are and I will come back to you with a definite answer :)

    • @macdonaldjohnstonfan
      @macdonaldjohnstonfan Před 8 lety

      +AussieGarbo67 That would be sweet, its always good to hear the new updates! I may be wrong but just when I look at them they look too small to be a 29m body, it just puzzles me as I know Superior Pak have made the hopper lower along with also making all the bodies a lower profile. I reckon that the big 30-35m bodies are actually the same height as the old 29m bodies, they just look so tall as the newer hopper is not as tall. I also guess these guys collect greens and recycling too? Its just a shame to dirty a recycling truck, normally they are still pretty clean even when they are a few years old.
