  • For this months upload we see another Sydney Cleanaway Residential Side Loader this time one of the four permanent Hornsby Greens truck, collecting the many green lidded bins lined throughout the streets in the Northern Sydney garden proud area. I managed to catch up with 642 last Monday in the suburb of North Epping on a cool sunny afternoon just after 12pm, with Mitch behind the wheel of his now full time dark blue Cleanaway machine. Truck SL00642 is a 2009 Iveco Acco with a Compaction Systems/Superior PAK 25m SidePAK body, sporting the standard "three bin mascot" Hornsby signage, specifically made up before the start of the contract for the greens collections due to it having the paddle packer design and this truck still has the original SidePAK lifter.
    I have always wanted to get the Hornsby trucks on video but in particular one of the SidePAK's on greens, maybe Mitch being a full time driver out there now days gave me the extra motivation :P Actually my first time seeing a SidePAK in person and I must say I was impressed. Its one beast of a truck with its smooth but loud revs during bin lifts as you will see in the video. All green waste from Hornsby Shire is taken to Kimbriki and each truck does two loads with three loads done on the heavier days of the week. Was good to catch up with Mitch for a chat once again and I can see hes pretty happy that hes driving a SidePAK, as they will probably be extinct in the next couple of years. Big thanks has to go to Mitch for being cool with the videos and making the videoing very easy. Hope everyone enjoys the video and there will be plenty more to come.

    very cool, it's weird seeing some of the comments from younger filmers who haven't seen or even heard of the SidePak... sad too. that cul de sac at 9:27 was my favorite angle, excellent handling on Mitch's part and typically good filming on yours. couldn't have thought of a better angle to showcase all that. of course also liked the overhead view of the arm when you mounted your cam behind the hopper. really satisfied seeing my original favorite Aussie ASL again, just rocks with how much you can move the arm up and down at the top of the cycle without the bin really coming out of the hopper yet.. love it

      Thanks Matt im glad you enjoyed it, yeh I was trying to get the uphill shots especially on the RHS (exhaust side) as its a better sound. Still pissed that the wind was around gotta aim for a day next time with minimal wind.

    Awesome video man. I thought sidepaks were already extinct so when I saw some pictures a few months back of one and now this one I got super excited. Definitely wasn't disappointed either. Loved a ton of the shots you got in this video. These sidepaks really remind me of the extinct McNeilus Automator which i think is why I like them so much. Was definitely neat to see all the lines of greens collected. Enjoyed watching Mitch fly through the route. Great work

      Thanks man ! Yeh nearly extinct, Cleanaway runs 5 Acco/sidepaks at the moment and theres a few others floating around Australia but not a great deal, less than 5 years time they should be well and truly extinct.

    I've watched this video 4 times now, finally got around to posting a comment! Bloody awesome mate, go figure I enjoyed watching yet another video of myself at work which will end up in my favourites, never gets old hehe I feel like a cheat asking you to space out those bins in the second clip, but generally speaking I've always found something has gone wrong there in the past, so woulda sucked ruining the clip. At least you came out on a sunny day, helped make the truck look really sharp in a number of the clips - not bad it gets washed on a Friday and you caught me on the Monday! Bugger about the interrupted full throttle at 4:23, revs like to cut out on my truck between bins sometimes, think I have a faulty lifter sensor. Awesome thing about the "sloppy" grabbers on the Sidepaks is that you can straighten up bins like at 10:18 lol That spot where the camera was mounted made for a good view, was initially a little worried the shade might stuff up the picture, but wasn't too much of an issue. Been keen to achieve such an angle on previous trucks, but never had a secure spot to mount - I probably wouldn't have even discovered the spot on this truck if you didn't ask! ;) Was thinking it's got mad potential for a hopper view too, just requires a simple rotation on the exact same location... haven't had hopper view success myself so maybe your camera will have better luck! A bugger the visor wasn't fixed on the front of the cab, funny enough I'm still waiting to find it attached one morning :S Damn glad to be able to call one of these Sidepaks my own - I feel privileged with how rare they are now! Thanks very much for the video, I'll actually have to get cracking with my own production before winter hits and there are no bins out :P

      Sweet as Mitch no worries mate I know how much you enjoy the videos of yourself at work. Haha yeh but worked out well me spacing them out so it all ran smoothly when you were emptying them, shit spot for sandwiched bins cause of the bad angle and with a SidePAK its even worse ey. Yeh always try to aim for the sunny clear days for the videos makes the truck shine and was thinking that when I was videoing, good idea I came out on Monday cause the truck was pretty clean and still had the nice shine you get when its recently been washed. At 4:23 with the interrupted full throttle I thought you were doing that for the camera on purpose haha :P Yeh I made sure I included that shot with the sloppy grabs straightening up that bin cause thats one of the best assets of the SidePAK's ! Ah yeh worked out well the camera mounted on the truck was happy with the result even though it was a short clip and mate cheers for getting up there and securing the camera for me. Yeh next time I come out and see you we will have to try and get a hopper shot, maybe in the next couple of weeks :) Yeh I was hoping the visor would be there but ah well, has the visor been attached yet to 642 ? Yeh mate bloody awesome you have got one of these trucks as your full time truck not many left out there especially on an Acco ! Looking forward to your production whenever you throw it up, hopefully its something like the SL31 video :)

    Hey AussieGarbo67 question. Do you know where Hornsby is done on Mondays?

  • @garbofan1019

    Great work mate, liked those shots above the arm. Mitch is a quite a swift operator. Real shame they don't make these trucks anymore. Was this the truck converted to a Raptor arm or is that another truck?

    • @AussieGarbo67
      @AussieGarbo67  Před 7 lety

      Thanks mate, yeh thought i should try something different seeing as its easy to mount cause of the low height body and access, big thanks to Mitch for getting up there and setting it up :) Next time I need to turn the camera the other way to get a hopper video ! Nah this one 642 still has the SidePAK lifter setup as well as 639 and 641. 640 is the only one to have the Raptor arm "RaptPAK".

      AussieGarbo67 what I m worried about it that I don t like the council mergers because part of Hornsby was lost that caused the bin day at that sector to change. I don t like Wednesday in an area that is Monday. I want reverse the merger so that Wednesday goes back to Monday.
