Bankstown Green Waste

  • Its been a while since my last green waste "vegetation" video, so for this weeks video we see yet another light blue cleanaway machine doing the heavy green waste work in Bankstown Council on a street with a mix of houses and units. We see truck 731 a dedicated bankstown green waste truck collecting the green lidded bins on a Wednesday morning in the suburb of Greenacre just after 11am on the last few hours of the run. There are three of these 2007 Iveco Acco/25m Superior PAK Raptor's (731,732,733) servicing Bankstown Green Waste on a daily basis each completing two solid loads, starting at 5am and tipping there loads off at Veolia's Greenacre site.
    After turning off the Hume Hwy and into the local streets I followed the trail of empty/full bins and within minutes I found this truck in the distance. After waiting a short while I heard the truck roar around the corner, got the green light from the driver in regards to the videos and I was off videoing. I was also surprised as there was shitloads of green waste bins out to collect for the winter period I would hate to see what it is like in Bankstown during the summer period.
    As you will see in the video there is plenty of packing, revving and shaking which is what you expect when you have got a Superior PAK Pendulum Packer picking up vegetation at units. Also it doesn't help when its all light branches and leaves in the bins, all you need is heavy bins full of grass to get it going. These earlier Series 2 Raptor models have always had problems with keeping up with the constant flow of material especially on the recycle and greens collections.
    For those who don't know just recently in Sydney, there has been a number of forced council mergers/amalgamations and now both Canterbury and Bankstown Councils have been merged as one, waste collections will run as per normal until all existing contracts expire. Thanks has to go to the driver behind the wheel and remember to like, fav and sub.

    That its pretty impressive on the drivers behalf. The speed and precision at which he empties the green waste is like nothing i have seen. The majority of bankstown drivers are shocking, but not this driver.

      Thanks mate, did you notice the old grey oTTo bin at 6:43, that is one of the original Bankstown Garbage wheelie bins before the 120L bins were introduced now used for green waste.

      Thanks mate, umm not to sure all the Ex Baulko ones would be long gone and these Bankstown ones would be scrapped too now with Cleanaway losing most of there contracts that used to run out of the Peakhurst yard.

      Thanks, always heavy in Bankstown and Hobart hard to judge as its winter now and only a new service see what happens when summer comes round.

    Plenty of groups of bins around there, lots of straight roads in Greenacre too, probably one of the easier days. I saw what he did at 7:26, not fast enough at cutting that one out Alex =] I hate when drivers over rev the engines - what I've found on these models is that extra rev appears to do nothing to packer speed, same with the newer ones I've driven. I'd hate to do bushy bulky areas with a pendulum, unless it's got a super quick cycle.

    • @AussieGarbo67
      @AussieGarbo67  Před 8 lety

      Yeh youre right lots of straight streets but there is still quite a few deadenders off them but they were all wide with hardly any parked cars making them all too easy. Hehe he just touched it with the grabs and it fell over, doesn't take much when there sitting on the gutter like that. This guy had his foot to the floor you could hear the engine in pain, Ive heard that about the Superior PAK's, I know the old MKIV's when you rev them the paddle does move a lot quicker but when a driver tried it with the genv 61 it doesn't do anything. Yep Paddle packer all the way on the greens collections, with the pendulums the light bushy stuff just doesn't fall through quick enough with the small opening takes a few cycles and heavy bins to get it moving, whereas with the paddles 1 or 2 sweeps and youre clear.

    Where you say "After turning off the Hume Hwy and into the local streets" are you saying you have your licence now or were you being driven by someone? Anyway back to video, this is a full on greens run. Makes me think of Bayswater North in Maroondah witch is the same. I have that on CZcams.

      Yep mate have had my license and my car for a year now getting green P2 license tomorrow, only one more year then I can get my HR license :) Starting to get more councils on video now as things are changing quick with council mergers. Its full on in Bankstown majority of the streets have a lot of bins in a small area so you can get some quick loads on. I remember that Maroondah video its a good one !

      Got 10 months till my HR. So when are these merges going to happen? Going to be interesting when this happens. Makes me want to come up real bad now to get as much as I can on film.

    • @AussieGarbo67
      @AussieGarbo67  Před 8 lety

      10 months ey, any plans for where you will start work when you get it ? JJR is always advertising HR waste drivers in Melbourne. Even if the councils do merge, waste services will remain unchanged until all existing waste contracts expire. Some of the mergers have already happened, off the top of my head: Holroyd - Auburn merged now known as Cumberland Council, Parramatta has grown taking suburbs from Hornsby and Baulko, Canterbury - Bankstown merged, Wyong - Gosford merged now known as Central Coast and Hurstville - Kogarah merged now known as Georges River Council.

    Say what you like about the raptors bu t they aren't too bad on all streams bulky or otherwise, when the hopper clogs up you have two choices either let the auto pak do its thing or manually pack (which depending on the auto pack settings) will give you and extra foot of swing in each direction.
    Yes you can do 200-300+ bins an hour on bulky recycle
    yes you can do 150-200+ bins an hour on bulky vegetation
    yes you can crush full sized fridges, washing machines, dryers, tv's, and ovens with the pendulum with gay abandon if your on garbage ( use manual mode) just for fun
    Yes you can do 200-300+ bins an hour on garbage
    just time it right an tip the bins on the hopper floor not the pendulum were possible and your good as gold.

    Awesome stuff man! Love the 07 Raptors! I did notice the cab sits pretty low as well as the tyres look a little worn out? I gotta come up to Sydney and get some stuff hopefully next holidays maybe!

      Thanks mate, Yep they sound good and go alright he was nearly full when I got video so if I was the driver I would tackle the units on the start of the load when everything is clear or just get an MJ with a paddle : P Now that you pointed that out the tyres do look worn out a lot smaller than what I usually see. Sure mate you got my number let me know when you're coming up will be good to catch up again.
