In this video, I give my full review of the Andis Profoil Lithium Titanium Foil Shaver, model 17150 vs the Five Star Series Wahl Finale. I compare the features of the Andis electric shaver vs Wahl Finale foil shaver and demonstrate the results in a head-to-head shave off.
For those barbers out there looking to clean up hairs less than 1/32” and those that shave their beard every one to three days, the electric foil shaver of both the Andis Profoil Foil Shaver and Wahl Finale may be the tools you’re looking for to compliment your grooming space.
While Andis recommends their foil shaver for finishing fades and removing stubble, Wahl touts the Five Star Finale as being designed for finishing and blending bald fades, cleaning up hair and neck lines, eliminating stray hairs and bump-free shaving.
Looking inside the box, this Andis Foil Shaver includes the foil shaver itself, a foil guard, charging adaptor and a cleaning brush, while the Wahl Finale electric shaver includes the finishing tool, foil guard, wall plug charger, automatic recharge stand, pre-shave brush and cleaning brush.
While the Andis Foil Shaver is an Amazon Choice recommendation, ranking at #5 for the category of Men’s Foil Shavers and holding a 3.9 out of 5 star rating, the Five Star Wahl Finale ranks just slightly lower at #13 and is closely rated at 3.8 stars.
Taking a look at the top of these shavers, both the Wahl Finale and Andis Foil Shaver feature a gold hypoallergenic foil, which each brand claims will eliminate skin irritation, including razor bumps and ingrown hairs.
Now, while Andis indicates that their foil is Titanium, Wahl indicates that their gold foil is micro-thin and will wear with use which will be indicated if your shaver slows down and the foils start to get warm.
That said, Wahl specifically recommends that the foils will need to be replaced often and the cutter bar periodically.
You’ll also noticed that the Andis foil shaver holes go completely around the foil, while on the Wahl Finale electric shaver the foil holes stop short on both ends.
As far as battery life, both the Andis Foil Shaver and Wahl Finale are powered by Lithium-Ion batteries and rotary motors.
Both shavers can be operated corded or cordless, however these units are not to be used while bathing or in the shower.
While the Andis can run up to 80 minutes on a single charge, the Wahl Finale claims to operate for up to 90 with each devices indicator light going off once fully charged.
As far as cleaning both devices, you simply press in their respective buttons on the side to pop off the foil and access the cutters, which can be wiped clean with the included brushes.
Taking a look at the price, the Andis foil shaver will run you around $45 to $55 on Amazon, while the Wahl Finale falls just shy of $72.
That said, keep in mind that replacement heads and cutters will most likely be necessary with prolonged use, adding an extra $15 - $20 to each unit.
So, for this demonstration, I put the Andis Profoil Lithium Titanium Foil Shaver head-to-head with the Five Star Series Wahl Finale to see which electric shaver / foil shaver is the best deal for you.

That said, one of these shavers gets my GroomReviews recommendation.

Thanks for taking the time to do these reviews! I currently use a Philips AT899 that I’ve had for years and never changed the heads, but in fairness it continues to offer a close smooth shave. That said, I want to move to a foil shaver as A. having a barbers use the Andis to trim my stubble, I was amazed at how sharp and smooth it was and B. I don’t like the way you have to rotate a rotary shaver, it just feels cumbersome. This review has confirmed that the Andis is the one to get!

However luck has nothing to do with your fantastic, especially useful, and entertaining videos. It's a shame that you don't get more subscribers and views because your reviews always get to the point. You value function over the bells and whistles. I've watched other videos where the person doesn't even cover the shave itself, just tells us the features that we can all read from the box. Damn, I have watched many or your electric shaver reviews, all good info. You have a heavy beard and can be a good judge. I have been using a cheap 3- head Norelco for 10 years. I thought maybe it's time to get a better shaver. I am 90% sold on the Panasonic Arc5 for $150. What discourages me is the $66 cost to replace the cutters and foil. So I thought about the Andis, cheaper for unit and for new heads. But you recommend stepping up to the Arc5. I have somewhat light beard that I shave everyday. With all the shavers you tried, testing, and reviewed, is the Panasonic Arc5 still you recommendation for me? Good reviews, thanks!

Just ran into your channel and I’m definitely a subscriber now. I get a lot of ingrown hairs on my neck area which is why I decided to grow out my beard a couple years ago because razors would kill my skin. I’ve been wanting to get a foil shaver for my neck cause I use a Wahl peanut which is made to line up your hair but it’s decent just doesn’t get the hair as short as I want. Gonna keep going through your videos but if you see my comment let me know which foil shaver is the best you’ve found so far! Not too pricey please lol thank you!

While products I've reviewed such as the Braun Series 3 Pro Skin and Remington F5-5800 are in a similar league and lower price point, the Braun Series 9 and Panasonic Arc 5 provide better comfort, but, unfortunately, at a higher cost. I prefer the Panasonic Arc 5 over the Braun Series 9, but it's an expensive product that some may not be comfortable buying. im looking for something for my neck, i have beard trimmer, but i like clean shave on neck. Gillette and double-edge safety razors leave skin irritations. any suggestions? should i try foil shaver?
Hi, Dragunov. Thank you for your question. If you are only concerned with cleaning up the neck, a foil shaver could be a good option. If you haven't used one before, most manufacturers will tell you that your skin needs to get used to the product for a few weeks and that irritation can occur. It's really trial and error to see how your skin reacts and if it is a product you enjoy using. With some of the higher end foil shavers I have reviewed, like the Panasonic Arc 5 or the Braun Series 9, I've noticed less irritation than with the Andis and Wahl reviewed in this video. started using a foil shaver a few months ago and don't regret it one bit. personally don't think you can beat the andis profoil for 50 bucks. It's what I use and once your skin gets use to being shaven by it a few times you won't have any skin irritation.

There are several beard trimmers that come with a foil shaver attachment, such as the Multigroom 7000 or the Wahl Lithium Ion Plus, however, I think you may be looking for something like the Panasonic ES-LL41-K seen here: amzn.to/32Eg3IS.
