In this video, I give my full review of the Panasonic Arc 5, model ES-LV95-S. I compare the features of the Panasonic Arc 5 electric shaver vs Braun Series 9 foil shaver and demonstrate the results in a head-to-head shave off.
For those that shave their beard every one to three days, the electric foil shaver and precision trimmer of both the Panasonic Arc 5 and Braun Series 9 are the perfect combination to get the job done quickly and efficiently.
The Panasonic Arc 5 is touted as an advanced precision five blade shaving system designed to provide the ultimate close, comfortable shave. This Panasonic electric shaver is an Amazon Best Seller and ranks at #18 for Men’s Foil Shavers.
Inside the box, you’ll find the Panasonic Arc 5 ES-LV95-S shaver, cleaning station, detergent pack, a leather travel case and a charging cord.
Now, if you take a look at my previous video on the Braun Series 9, you’ll notice that these two Men’s electric shavers are very similar, yet, carry a substantial price difference of over $80 between them.
Panasonic markets the Panasonic Arc 5’s five ultra-sharp, ultra-thin forged, Nanotech blades that provide a 30° cutting edge, said to cut more efficiently and cleanly at the root for a more comfortable shave.
However, Braun hypes the Braun Series 9 as their best electric shaver, with 5 synchronized shaving elements, the world’s strongest Sonic technology and an intelligent Auto Sensing motor to shave more hair in one stroke than any other shaver.
Looking at the specs of the Panasonic Arc 5, you’ll see that similar to the Braun Series 9, this foil shaver is also a wet/dry shaver.
Five shaving elements of the Arc 5 include a Lift-Tech foil, that applies reverse-tapered edges to raise and cut flat lying hair, a Slit Blade foil that grabs and cuts longer hairs, and the Finishing foils that captures stubborn hairs, ensuring a smooth result.
Similar to the Braun Series 9’s 10-D Flex Head, this Panasonic Arc 5 includes a Multi-Flex Pivoting head that contours along the face, jaw, chin and neck to shave from any direction.
On the back of the Arc 5 you’ll find a Free and a Lock setting for your desired shaver head setting. You’ll also find a pop up precision trimmer for longer hairs, and detailing areas such as the sideburns and the mustache.
The Panasonic Arc 5 has an LCD screen that includes multiple indicators, as necessary, with use. These include a Used Time Lamp, Battery Capacity Lamp, Shaving Sensor Lamp, Clean Lamp, Foil & Blade Check Lamp and Charge Status Lamp.
Now the Panasonic Arc 5 ES-LV95-S will take 60 minutes for a full charge and that will give you 45 minutes of use, which is only 5 minutes less than you’ll get out of the Braun Series 9 shaver for the same 60 minutes
As far as charging the Panasonic Arc 5, there’s two ways you can do it. You can either take the plug and plug it directly into the device or you can take the cleaning station, plug the charger into it, then place the Arc 5 shaver in, and sit it back.
A rotating lock feature on the power button, ensures that this Panasonic electric shaver can’t be turned on when carrying, unlike the Braun Series 9 foil shaver.
As far as using the Panasonic Arc 5 shaver, there are three modes of operation with the power switch.
Press once for Shaver Sensor Mode, where the beard thickness is automatically sensed and the power is automatically adjusted when shaving. Press twice for Normal Mode, where a constant power level is maintained throughout the shave. And Press a third time to power off the shaver.
So, for this demonstration, I put the Panasonic Arc 5 ES-LV95-S head-to-head with the Braun Series 9 to see which electric shaver / foil shaver is the best deal for you.

Overall, the Panasonic Arc 5 and Braun Series 9 are both great shavers. They are very evenly matched with nearly identical features.
That said, one of these shavers gets my GroomReviews recommendation.

I picked the Panasonic Arc 5 matte black yesterday from best buy $129 based on your review. Great Shaver. My head is as smooth as a peanut. 😂
I have been using Panasonic Arc 5 Lv95 every day for more than 8 years now. It is absolutely brilliant. It works great both dry and wet. If I have time I usually use it with shaving foam, which leads to much better shaving results.
I'll probably go with the Arc 6. Gone through about 3 or 4 Brauns during the last 8 years. They don't last
Based on your enlightening reviews I decided to go with the Panasonic Arc 5... and wow! I used it for the first time this morning and it was an awesomely comfortable and pleasant shave! I couldn't seriously notice any difference with a regular blade shave vs. the Arc 5. It makes me wish my stubble grew quicker so I could shave more often.
I just got the Panasonic arc 4 electric razor, and I really love. I am going to get the Panasonic arc 5 here really soon. I did use a Braun series 7 but the shaver was not all that great. I use to love Braun, but now, i got into the Panasonic because it shaves really really well. I am so happy with it.

Just got the Arc 5 yesterday and it's amazing. For the past several years I had the Phillips Norelco senso touch 3D round/rotary shaver and it used to cut good but it never did the job on its own. Because of the design could not get right under the nose or neat sideburns. The flip out clipper was also tiny. I had to keep my old shaver (cheap Braun single foil) for the under the nose and sideburn areas. But this new Arc 5 is crazy compared to those! Cuts fast and close. I've actually not used aftershave or anything in years but I'm getting some today. The closest shave I've had in a long time.

It helped me to decide to stay with the Panasonic line. BTW, I have found the original cleaning solution a source of skin irritation, so always use the dry/charge cycle after cleaning under the faucet with liquid soap. I’ve had both for years and yes the Panasonic is better and cuts more, but the Braun can be necessary if you have very sensitive skin.

@@fat0v Yup. I bought a Braun series 7 years and I hate it. It'll get close after shaving with it for 15 minutes and the head is hotter than the sun and irritates your skin badly. Every Panasonic product I've ever bought has lasted so long it's not even funny. I still have my 42" Panasonic plasma TV I bought in like 2008 and works like a charm and works like it did day one.

It's obvious the Panasonic shaves closer, you can see the difference on your face. The Braun side looks like about like a Noontime shadow and the Panasonic looks totally fresh shaved.

Cool review! The Panasonic is seriously closer shaving than any Braun. But, the dentist drill sound drove me crazy - so I switched to a Norelco! Way less jarring in the AM!

I can say that the Braun Series 9 in this video is a quality product, but it is quite expensive. I bought the Panasonic Arc5 ( I was fortunate enough to find the ES-LV9N model) and the Braun Series 9 about 2 months ago. After letting my face get used to the razors (I came straight from DE wet shaving), there's no contest. At least for my face, the Arc5 is quicker, more efficient, cuts closer, and just feels better on my face. The Braun definitely feels more abrasive and generates more heat than the Arc5. And I can always go over the Braun Series 9 side with the Arc5 and get closer. Can't say the same for the Series 9. Don't get me wrong - the Series 9 is a sweet machine, and if I'd never tried the Arc5 I'd probably be perfectly happy with the Braun. But I did, and the Arc5 does it for me. Also, I tried several pre-electric shave lotions (Speick, Afta, Lectric Shave, Labs Series, and a brand from Israel called Freelette). Give the Freelette a shot if you haven't already - for my face, at least, it's head & shoulders above the others. And thanks for the awesome video!

Enrico Colombo I bought both the Panasonic razors arc 4 and 5, so that way, I can personally have a variety. I love using the 5 because it covers a wide area. The 4 is nice as well, but one blade less. I found the a4c 5 on Amazon for $250 but got it on a limited deal for $199. Nice to have high end razors.

Nice video... please, can you help mi with body groomer, wich one do you recommend? I would use it for full body and maybe,once in a while for stuble... loking to be hairles, or close to that when finishing the body grooming proces

This product comes with a dedicated body grooming attachment in addition to the tools needed to trim up the beard, which could be a good option if looking for that dual functionality. How many times can u use the cleaning detergent water which we use for cleaning the shaver. can we just maintain the shaver by cleaning it with water ??? Have doubts regarding the cleaning of station it .

Hi, PRANEETH. You are most welcome! Thank you for the positive feedback. According to Panasonic, the Arc 5 cleaning liquid should last you approximately 30 days if used once per day. There is also an option to clean the shaver without the self-cleaning station. In this scenario, when the faucet symbol appears on the lamp display, Panasonic recommends applying some hand soap and some water to the system outer foil. You then can press the power switch for more than 2 seconds to activate the sonic vibration cleaning mode, which lasts around 20 seconds. Once finished, remove the outer foil and repeat the activation of the sonic vibration cleaning mode and clean the inner foils with running water.
