Love this product. I did a bunch of research before settling on the Wahl 5-Star shaver. Everyone said it was the best shaver for black men. Though I occasionally still get some minor razor bumps, this shaver is far and away the best I've owned. I've had it for like five years now and it still works perfectly - I've replaced the blades maybe once or twice and the foil once. Definitely worth the money.

I had the red one for around 6 months and even though it was good, I thought it could have been better, although I decided to invest in the finale version and it is perfect, it fixed all of the problems and I am really happy with it thanks for improving such an amazing product

Man my dad not being around i didnt know we couldn't use razors. I have tried razors and then when that kept breaking me out i went to the hair removal creams. That caused chemical burns. Finally got online did research and found these. They are good for black men who cannot use razors fr. I shave first with my clippers. Then go over my face with these. Cleanest clost shave. And like bruh said dont press down hard on ur face and use a slow smooth rhythm. They work. I would not have wasted my time cosigning for this item.

Great review, first one to state it requires a two step process and is designed to cut stubble in place of a razor. Also the first one that speaks of cleaning with a disinfectant. 😉👍

I purchased one of these and it didn’t shave at all!!! Is there something I’m doing wrong.
Make sure that you trim the hair down to a short stubble before using the shaver to finish it off.
For being in the academy for a law enforcement officer this is the best thing ever for keeping my head shaved!
This comments are blowing my mind. I love the shaver only problem is I'm on my 3rd pair in three years. I use it for shaving my head after I have already cut it down to stubble. I was replacing the foil every few months. The battery went out on my last pair and would only work plugged in. First pair wouldn't hold a charge at all after about 8 months or so. I love the shavers just wish they were better quality. Maybe I wasn't pressing soft enough?
It sounds as though you are pressing too hard! We can also suggest switching to the Finale which has a lithium-ion battery if you are using this tool frequently.
Mine lasted a little over a year until the solder on the battery broke loose. The charging cable does not hold well so they are retired. Wish they lasted as long as my other clippers/shapers

I am sure you got paid to do this,( you should, it`s good! ) because the part on disinfecting was worth 100 bucks alone. Most people stop going to the barber because the notice NO disinfecting is taking place between customers. Thanks for putting that out there for the shade-tree barbers.. theory74 I use the Wahl G-Whiz trimmer. The little battery operated one. It's not hard on the skin and it's sharp enough where you can line up your beard.
My barber uses this shaver in me and I am impressed. Where can I find it and I'd also like to have some good clippers to trim down longer hairs before I do the close shave. Can you recommend a wahls trimmer?

Bought this shavers today to help me keep my head shaved. Using a razor everyday gets to be a bit much. I'm unimpressed with it. The shaver can't even get the little amount of stubble that I have on my head. 1 out 5 stars.

I JUST ordered these. I've been using my Panasonic Arc 3 for five years. My fiancée hasn't been impressed. She's been begging me to get the Wahl Profesional for a while, now. Meanwhile, I've been seeing them pop up at several barber shops. I must be something to them. I hope they do a good job.

Yes, you will need to make sure hair is down to a stubble first before using though. It cannot be long hair.

Hmmm that is a bit unusual. Perhaps a pre-shave powder would be a good option for you.

These would work really well for a head shave if you are looking to go completely bald. It is important to note that all hair must first be down to a stubble before using.
If you want a clean shave, then hair will need to be down to a stubble. If you are looking to clean up the stragglers, you can use this shaver over the top of hair.

When I got it out of the box after using it a few times it died out so I charged it for about an hour and it only lasted bout 30 seconds. Now when I charge it, it won't even turn on! Is there supposed to be a light on it when it's on charge? I've only have it for a day.... What do I do

Antonino Sarullo send it back but from what you said out of the box an you used it a few times did you charge it the correct amount of hours I believe it's to be charged for 8 or 12 hours before usage it's not a full charge when purchased.

Yes this foil head is easily replaceable. The foil heads are sold at your local Sally Beauty Supply store. The link here shows how to replace and clean your foil head and cutter bars.

We do not recommend it as the oils can fill the holes in the foils causing it to work inefficiently.

I know this is really random but the Wahl team should really, really change the Cliniclip, Blade Ice, and Blade Oil packaging and I guarantee they will sell 5 times more then they are now. They look real bad in terms of design take a look at Andis Cool Care, Blade Oil, and Blade Care real nice and clean fonts designs etc just something to consider.

Yes, you can absolutely use this as an every day tool for shaving!

Occasionally you can oil the cutter bars (not the foils).
I don't do it but can this be used with an electric shave gel or splash?
It would work fine with an electric shave splash, a gel may be too thick for the holes of this tool.

The Wahl Shaver of course! It is made in the USA, has closer cutting foils, and is easier to clean and maintain.

Correct, it is better for tighter fades (i.e. bald fade) because the blade lies to closer to the skin.

Billy, are you shaving longer hair or stubble? This machine will only cut stubble.
+Wahlpro Stubble. I tried it out on my beard, following the same technique as used in the video, but no hair came off. I had to revert back to my Walgreens razor to get the job done.

This will not cut down hair on a beard. You will need to sue a trimmer first to take the hair all the way down, then the Shaver will finish the job for you.
Improve the foil. Its too thin and flimsy, it constantly ends up with holes. Also improve the battery life. I notice my red wahl 5 star shaver sometimes nicks the skin and it hurts, ive felt it on my skin amd clients have told me. Great shaver but can be improved, and i dont see why it hasnt yet, especially with everybody has the exact same problems with it. All in all it does the job and gets skin close

Have you used the Finale shaver? This has an improved lithium-ion battery and an hanced cutter bar that reduces foil vibration.
It is important to note that in order to get this skin close cut, these foils must be made in this style. A light touch should be used and the foils should never be pressed into the skin.
Wahlpro hello, I my 5 star shaver stopped working today. It started slowly losing power like usual, but after charging it, it was very weak and completely died within a few seconds. I bought it sometime in 2016 or 2017, i do not have the recipt or box anymore so I don't remember. Can I get it repaired or replaced? Its really going to affect my bussiness as this is the only shaver I own.

My wahl shavers r cutting people and the foil isn’t even broken it’s sounds excessively loud
Make sure that you cutter bars are well oiled and in good condition. A dent or missing tooth in the cutter bar can cause harm to those you are cutting.
can anyone tell me if cosmetologists can purchase this and use this legally under our license? or do we have to have a barber license since it's a shaver? thanks :)
you can get them at most barber/cosmo supply chain's. I would think anyone could use it because it's not a blade so there shouldn't be any restrictions on it

The blades need to be oiled? It doesnt come with a little oil bottle like the trimmer...
It does not need to be oiled as frequently as many of our other products. These essentially need to be oiled after using a disinfectant because they will oxidize the blades.
