"Adelaide 1991 - the shortest race ever"
Spa 2021: Allow me to introduce myself.
I was bouta say 😂
Spa will never be beaten because there was never a race to begin with it was just a casual sunday drive behind a safety car
yeah true that
Its actually the longest. 5 Hours
@@maxx09 Speaking of pure race duration (which is the metric used in the records), it's the shortest by far, lasting only three and a half minutes.
Malaysia 2009 missing.
Yes, Kimi's Ice-cream eating one.
Yes he missed that. Damn that race was crazy
Felipe baby! Stay cool!
I hate to be that guy, but other than Kimi’s ice cream and ‘Felipe Baby stay cool!’ What other memorable moments of Malaysia 2009 were there?
Only half of the championship points were taken i think
Perhaps its because it was the last race to have been stopped midway through a race?
"Four times qualifying was postponed"
Japan last year: Am I a joke to you?
i was about to say it myself
But that session was postponed because of a crash; not weather.
@@shyasaturtle no it was moved to Sunday because of a Typhoon
Also wondering why preseason testing 2018 wasn't listed with the preseason tests that had snow.
i was gonna say this as well
"Adelaide 1991 is the shortest race of f1 history"

Timewise, did Spa become the longest race?
@@lpollock7893 and the "race" lasted 3 mins and 26 secs and i think it was the longest red flag and delay in f1 history
"What's the name of that track?"
" Bahrain - Sandstorm"

I thought Darude made that song
Nice one
I see what you did there
"Oh Bahrain - Sandstorm"
"No i meant Bahrain - Sakhir"

There should be a video titled : " 6 times a lunatic entered the race track "
2000 German GP, where a disgruntled Mercedes employee was walking along the track and the 2003 British GP, where some priest carrying some messages from the Bible was running straight into the cars come to mind. Incidentally, both races were won by Rubens Barrichello for Ferrari.
Hmmm...
Germany 2000
Britain 2003
Spain 2004
China 2015
Singapore 2015
What other examples?
Maldonado, Maldonado,Maldonado, Maldonado,Maldonado, and Groesjean
Matt on a typical grand prix weekends for the past 3 years will be a good entry 😜😂😂
And then all 6 times it’s just Pastor Maldonado 😂
You forgot Japan 2019 in the list of cancelled events
I watched that Quali at 3am 😂
I was there😭
I was gonna comment that
@@LD_5711 it's about Quali, it was postponed
@UCo4DSDV_vriPPbMTg4rNYJA quali canceled, it was done on Sunday
Malaysia 2009. Monsoon weather, Massa wanting the white visor and Raikkonen having ice cream. Remember watching that one live. Was 11 years old and just getting into the sport at the time following Hamilton's title win in 2008 and the incredible Brawn GP story that was currently unfolding.
I was 12. 😅
I remember it too. I was 6 years old and started crying when I realized Kimi didn't win the race
"Felipe Baby Stay Cool"
Dude, sounds like we've lived the same Formula One journey haha! Exact same for me, first started watching in 2008, was 11 during the 09 Malaysian GP 😅
I don't get why everyone mentions Kimi eating ice cream in this GP, and at this point I'm too afraid to ask.
Adelaide 1991: Nobody has raced shorter than me

The 1955 Argentine GP was also notoriously hot- So hot that a grand total of 2, yes, 2 drivers were able to complete the race without another driver taking over for them while they rested.
Also, you missed the hailstorm at the end of the 1975 British grand prix which took out most of the field
Those 2 drivers where Juan Manuel Fangio, who won the race from 3rd, and Roberto Mieres, who came 5th after starting the race from 16th. And Fangio got severe burns on his legs as his legs were rubbing against the chassis of his Mercedes W196, when track temperatures were as high as 57 ⁰C (135 ⁰F). They were so severe that it took 3 months to heal.
Exactly ... They mostly focus on recent races and throw in one or two old examples just to (try to) make us feel they covered all decades ... SMH
And spa 98
Wait... why is Monaco 1996 regarded as the race with the least finishers then???
@@slender_04f14 back then, drivers subbed out during pit stops occasionally. Only two drivers completed the entire race without being replaced. More than 2 people still finished.

I was there during Canada 2011, it was damp, rainy and miserable in the stands. But, holy hell what a race that was.
That was the race that made me adore the sport from a kid, lucky that u got to witness it
That was one LONG day as I was there as well
Forecast is for rain this weekend. If we don't get rain I will feel personally betrayed
Amy Wilson you and me both!
It will rain 🌧 all weekend

Malaysia 2009
The ice cream, the half points and "Felipe baby, stay cool"
If you’re wondering, snow has not affected an F1 race weekend, as those two times mentioned were a renault test and winter testing.
Did a spring kart race and it snowed! Was tons of fun in slicks! My fingers had a different opinion . Took a good 15 minutes of full heat in cars before fingers thawed out enough to undo helmet ! Thankfully it did not stick to the track ! Had to lift visor for one right turn then wipe before got to end of front straight! Have no idea how I kept kart on track ! Once your private bits soaked then the misery began ! Classic case of shrinkage that day !!😀
Cant wait for the remake of this video with the 2021 Belgian GP. And i cant wait to watch it 20 times over the course of the year
The last segment on this video needs to be updated now, after the farce that took place in Spa yesterday
He needs to make a renowned version of this after Belgium 2021
Malaysia 2001 was also a proper monsoon, drivers spinning off everywhere. It also apparently snowed at Imola in 2001 during Friday practice, but not heavily.
Speculation of a wet race?
Dry race and Mercedes 1-2 it is
Wet race and Hamilton laps everyone except for Verstappen.
Wet race and bottas out of points and every Englishmen does great because of karting in the rain 24/7
RoadhogTime13 if someone makes a smart gamble and is fast enough then it could spice things up or contact between ham and ver but ham might be too fast
Don't want to get the hopes up but I believe it is currently raining at the nurburgring
Didn’t rain but no Mercedes 1-2
The shortest race now is SPA 2021😂

Sepang, malaysia: 10 laps cloudy ☁️ 20 laps torrential rain🌧️ and the rest sunshine☀️ 🇲🇾
Malaysia 2001 is the first that comes to mind for me
Also 2014 Japanese Gp when Jules sadly died 😔
He died 9 months later.
All the drivers in Japan 2007 deserve a medal. Despite the safety car periods and the wet conditions they completed the full race distance within the 2hr time limit. The following year which had no rain or safety cars took 90 minutes
Strange to see this after 2021 SPA
"shortest race ever" they said
Malaysia 2012. Crazy race and Checo's first podium!
The first race I thought of was Japan 2014...
They shouldn't have raced that weekend
RIP Jules
To be honest, I'm glad that didn't come up. It would have brought up some bad memories.
Conditions were not that that bad at all that Sunday. We have seen racing in much worse conditions.
What killed Jules Bianchi wasn't racing in wet conditions but the entire sport not respecting the extra hazards of wet racing and slowing down significantly under double waved yellows, with a recovery vehicle trackside.
All the drivers did it for years unpunished, this kind of accident was just waiting to happen...
He paid the ultimate price for something every driver did, because they were never reprimanded for it.
It could have been even worse had his car hit the marshals. One was very lucky he had good reaction time and he leaped away from Sutil's suspended car, which then crashed back down to the ground
Not blaming Jules, he was racing, just like everyone else...the system itself allowed it to happen.
Double Bubble Disco Queen honestly, adrian sutil hitting the tractor at the nurburgring in 2007 should’ve been a clear indication on how much worse it could’ve been.
@@samcastles9091
I'm not sure it was him, but doesn't matter...that even happened with a safety car and in even worse conditions with cars skating off track everywhere.
Japan 2014 was nowhere near as bad conditions, the recovery truck just 10-15 seconds later would have successfully finished the job...they are very good at recovering vehicles at Suzuka, impressive efficiency. So I understand why race control didn't deploy the safety car for a 2 minute job...only slightly longer than one lap around.
They relied on drivers following the flag rules but the FIA had undermined them so much they became meaningless.
I miss Jules, he was such a nice, sweet guy. Got his autograph at Silverstone that year, he was shy but very engaging and kind with fans.
I genuinely believe he would have become a World Champion one day too.
@@samcastles9091 it was Liuzzi
that malaysian grand prix where a torrential rain fell for 30 minutes and generated utter chaos
The f1 Belgium Grand Prix for this year was suspended thanks to heavy rain that made it impossible for the race to go ahead and it was 30 years since f1 had a really short race since Australia 1991
The fact you guys don’t have 1mil is surprising because the content is so genuine and well made. Keep it up! :)

I was there at COTA 2015 I must say the rain made it amazing we got to go down to the pits and see the drivers and cars, then we got a great race Sunday.
Matt:f1 would never run under these conditions if we saw them tday
2021 Belgian gp: hello there
Malaysia 2009. Kimi famously grabbing himself an ice cream, and the race was called off halfway through due to fading light.
Canada 2011. Produced arguably the greatest GP of all time and went down in history as the longest ever race.
1976 Japanese GP, when James Hunt won the championship. Crazy rain conditions.
Love your videos. Always excellent content 👌
This list was made too early, forgot last weekend's event in Turkey.
not to mention the Nürburgring practice sessions
0:07 Great Matt, you jinxed it... now we'll have wonderful sunny weather this weekend...
You mentioned rain at Fuji but didn't think to mention the 1976 race? The championship deciding race was under threat, but went ahead in heavy rain because it was one of the first races that was being shown across the world live on TV, and the organisers felt pressured to get it on. Niki Lauda decided to pull out after a lap due to the danger, handing James Hunt the chance to finish third or better to win the championship, which he duly did, although not without drama later on after having to stop for fresh tyres.
I noticed no one has mentioned this one: 1998 Spa GP. Everyone can remember the first lap pile-up very well.
exactly
Spa 2021:
*Hold my beer*
Yes
2021 SPA intensifies...
I actually remember japan 2004. It was a Schumi masterclass on sunday. The day looked so beautiful, even a typhoon had gone across the day before
I got one from another sport. 2003 V8 supercars at Darwin, they raced through a hail storm.
You forgot the Malaysian Grand Prix in 2009.it is the wettest F1 race in history😅😅
So this just get recommended after Belgian 2021?
Nice video. Thanks Matt
Perfect Just what I needed after this day to make it a bit better. Formula video + listening to the music I like (Delta Parole, Metallica and other) make me feel the speed and excitement!

2021 Belgian GP entering the party ...
I'm missing Monaco 1950 (freak wave), Argentina 1955 (extreme heat) and Fuji 1976 (title deciding monsoon).
Not really weather related, but nevertheless ... a glorious sunny spring day in Monte Carlo, 1981, and the tunnel is flooded.
Gilles Villeuve’s win in snow in 1978 Canadian GP, first time outing of a track that would bear his name! RIP Gilles!
Shortest race ever... Lol from Spa
add spa 2021 now
In 1973 BRDC International Trophy at Silverstone (a non championship race contested with F1 and F5000 cars) there was snowfall while drivers struggled for grip
Belgium 1985, the entire race weekend was postponed until later that year as the (then) newly resurfaced track was literally melting in unseasonably hot temperatures for Spa Francorchamps
weren't there a wet race in Spa where everybody got caught out after the first turn
1998, jordan 1-2? I think
@@user-qr3ee3zp8q yep. The torpedo mk. 1 tosser Rossett also driving straight into the carnage when he didn't even need to.
1998. DC spin and chaos ensued. Jordan 1-2 finish, Schumacher finished on three wheels and wanted to pummel DC.
Anyone here after the Belgian gp 2021?
we'll have to wait for this weekend to see how it goes
Watching this video after the 2021 Belgium gp and thinking that if this list was made now that it would include the Belgium gp
"Senna... was pissed!" -Aidan Millward
Bruh i haven’t been this early ever
bruh
I would also include the european gp in 2007.
That turn 1 pile up was huge.
The 2021 Olympics showed just how wet it can be at Fuji Speedway. They did all the road cycling there and you couldn't see more than 10 yards ahead for how heavy the rain was.
Oh, c'mon! We already know for sure how's gonna be this weekend.
No matter if the weather forecast says that a biblical deluge is 2000% guaranteed on Sunday, one hour before the start of the race the skies will open, the sun will shine shinier than ever and dry the circuit... And we're gonna get a dry race.
anyone here after the 2021 Belgian GP?
I will never forget Nurburgring 2007, cars just flying off left right and center and of course, famously, Winkelhock leading his only ever race!
I was trackside in Bahrain that day, the giant cloud of sand the cars were kicking up behind them was crazy.
Number 7: Spa 2021
If I remember correctly I believe the Japanese GP 2019 was done during a typhoon
Typhoon was on saturday. Race on sunday. The typhoon was over be the time race started.
@@freakdustsk7397 Correct and then the Rugby World Cup was interrupted. Btw I remember that (2:23)
I think the S.S Sauber and the Force India bobsled were the best
1:55 I love snow too and there has been snow at Nurburgring too...
Germany 2019 comes to mind 🤣
That’s immediately what I thought!
who is here after spa 2021
There was snow also at the 2018 private testing in Barcelona during the first Week.

Bruh matt was right i was not subscribed for some reason, unbelievable me
Turkey this year was horrendously wet and the track has recently been resurfaced so it is also oily
As someone who was in canada 2011, let ne tell you, there was something unreal about the amount of rain coming down.
I live in this region of Canada (not Montreal, Ontario side, up the river farther), let me tell you, that type of rain was/is not normal. like at all.
if you remember, the only time it really rains like that is when its a thunderstorm. Which means it would pass in about 15 -30 mins...
