The cost cap is a good idea but THEORETICALLY that should also mean restrictions are more relaxed or give more freedom to the engineers. If you're going to cap spending then it should be encouraging creativity and innovation. Having a myriad of nitpicks while also telling teams they can't spend a lot of money work against each other. I think every car should be based around a specific chassis configuration (in order to establish necessary safety mechanisms and give cars a standard silhouette) but anything after that should just be governed by guidelines so that constructors can determine what works best for their drivers and system components (engine, transmission, aero map, suspension, etc.).

Im a Williams fan but I don’t really mind if they change the rule, if they change it, i’m fine but if they don’t i’m also fine. There is that hard and challenging part to get into the points that I like, but again, there is basically already 1 spot for the lower 5 teams since Lance Stroll messes up half the time this season.

So the responses to that are that "F1 is about the engineering and building a better car" - and, if that was really what F1 was about, then we should stop pretending like it's about the drivers ...but of course no one is watching if you're relying on the "engineering" and the racing to sell the product. In which case I'll say that, no, F1 is certainly not about the cars/engineering. It's about the drama. This is motorsport soap opera - this isn't about the cars(engineering) or the racing.

Indy Car is a joke when you see Alonso practising a couple weeks in a car type he never drove before and then he fights to win in Indianapolis. That's why almost all Indy drivers failed in F1 except by Villeneuve Jr who was lucky to drive Williams Renault 97 rocket when Schumacher was driving Ferrari poor cars. We also saw that with JP Montoya who achieved some wins in F1 but he failed to fight by championship. He only was close when he drove a car with the best engine and tyres, then he disappear until Raikkonen retired him in McLaren.

Not Ije's fault. He was catapulted into F1 because his team wanted an all-Japanese driver lineup and he was the only other one available. His super-license was thrust upon him, not earned.
