I think the fox's physical onscreen appearance is proof that Fleabag sees and understands the priest just as comprehensively as he sees and understands her. It's an irrational fear of his and probably a figment of his imagination, but it really does appear for Fleabag. It's similar to how the Priest is the only person other than Fleabag who is able to see us, an imaginary audience that Fleabag has conjured up in ordered to cope with her loneliness. It's supposed to show how connected they are and how their brief relationship has literally changed the way they see the world around them.
I just finished the show once again, crying obviously, and your comment made me cry even more. So beautifully put. And so true. All we want is to be seen.
The fox is the priest’s baggage coming for him, which he eventually must confront instead of using the priesthood to hide from his past… he’ll get there… such a great love story that’s how it ends for me.
How is this not viral? Besides Fleabag being one of the most profound tv shows ever the layers of hidden meaning make it so much more fun. even forces you to look at yourself with an introspection normally reserved for psychedelics.
There is a thing in philosophy that separates people into foxes and hedgehogs. Hedgehogs being people who strongly believe in one certain meaning in life and foxes with many believes about life. I guess Fleabag is a fox and the priest a hedgehog who is obviously very scared of foxes therefor choosing god over her.
Knowing Colbert is a devout Catholic, he's going to fanboy over Fleabag 2 but his expectations were too high. PWB never really dwelt on the idea of God chasing sinners back. He had interpreted The Fox differently, albeit better and more fitting to the story.
But that's art, sometimes the public understands the work better than the creator We appropriate the show as our own, and this video is a great example of that Phoebe, the author, saying she liked Colbert's interpretation better is a proof of that
I’m here from another video It was Glorilla (upcoming female rapper )interview in London. The interviewee brought up foxes and glorilla was surprised to find that they’re super common there and people don’t like them much. I immediately thought of Fleabag. 🦊 I wondered if there commonhood in Southend had any influence on the writing 😮 kind of seems like another pun now
The fox.... represents the priest's inner self. His animal self he's turned away to be a priest. Sexuality and desire. It keeps stalking him and he's terrified
@@CarolineMartin But knowing that it’s even more meaningful that fleabag told the fox which direction the priest went after the breakup bc like the part of him that he’s turned away is the part of him that will let himself be w her almost yk so it’s like she’s like he went that way almost gives hope for them I feel
@@emily.desouza I feel the same way! I cried endlessly over this & I just have to talk to someone about this! In my heart I believe that Fleabag & The Hot Priest are meant to be! I hope that she changes her mind & does a possible 3rd season or a movie & reunite them because they belong together! I’m going to have a mental breakdown over this!

fck. You are right.
I thought she was going to say, “I’m completely blown away...and a *little* turned on.”
Shame. Fleabag would have.
Woah are we sharing a brain? Or is that just a really self-evident reaction for Fleabag?
The latter
She said the turned on bit in parentheses and to her internal audience

Urban foxes are very common in London. Seeing them isn't unusual
What is the poem ?
hound of heaven - francis thompson
@@supermodelzdancerie thanx you :) I'm not really good at english so I couldn't get it
@@margaux2405 there is a modern adaptation of the poem as a video on CZcams. It’s fantastic & much easier to understand than the original poem.
It's a poem about running from Love
He runs away from God. Which in a broader view may be Love.
thought it was just a running gag
