Phoebe, same with Olivia Colman, finding their way into "hollywood" through sheer talent and endearing people with their authentic charm is the best thing ever.
Yes I agree 101%!!!! Both pf them are so ridiculously talented and effortlesly talented!
@James Richards Not Olivia Colman - her family is working class. But both made it because they have talent.
@James Richards Ahh so you would prefer that Phoebe had disowned her family so that she would be poor and cut off ties with all of her friends so that she wasn't connected and then life would be fair?
@James Richards I'm defending the idea that talent and wealth/connections are not mutually exclusive. That could be in any walk of life, not just acting. Was Winston Churchill talented? Or did he just have a well connected dad.
@James Richards I've got a weird story about her. Genuinely met her about 8 years ago on a night out in London. In an area you would definitely not expect celebs to hang out. Long story short - it culminated in a couple of us having to hold back a friend, and a couple of Olivia Colman's friends having to hold her back, as they were basically attempting a full on fight. It was hilarious.
her storytelling is extraordinary.
i agree.
And not just the stories she tells, but the way she puts the words together in the more serious, emotional scenes, especially in season 2 of Fleabag, is kind of poetic. I don’t know how else to explain it; the words she chooses, their arrangement, the kind of timing, or beat, feels natural while yet being so insightful as to pick at a point just in the midst of yourself that makes you swell with sentiment in just a few moments that can then disappear as quickly & easily if & when she employs her absurd wit just as the emotional honesty is getting a bit too honest as to become awkward.
She is awesome.
agreed. wasted on this audience sadly
Check out the HYSTERICAL story she told on the Grham Norton show about some backstage antics in London. One of the best gokd stories ever on a talk show.
She's a riot. I feel like the audience didn't quite get her humour though. That crumble story was amazing
I thought it was silly and strange and didn't make any sense but apparently Meryl Streep is a notorious 'desert thief'. That snippet of information was the missing ingredient.
English humour. Americans dont get it.
She seemed so charming. I'll bet she's a blast to just hang out with. Not that I'll ever find out, mind you. :)
Hansie's Ma eugh
@@rocket7697 I'm sorry but they were laughing the whole time? And no I'm not American...
The back pain she must have by carrying this interview, class act
She’s not funny.
@@X-AEA-12I imagine you’re someone with very few friends. Probably an older, conservative, male. People probably roll their eyes when you see you coming and you yell at kids playing outside. You are either not married or your wife s very old fashioned like you so she allows you to be the man of the house while she cooks your 3 square meals. I could go on but you get the picture. You (hate)watched this video of someone you don’t think is funny. lighten up!
@@X-AEA-12nobody cares what you find funny
@@X-AEA-12 have you watched fleabag?
just because you don‘t find her funny or don‘t get her, doesn‘t mean she isn‘t funny my guy.
Wrote Fleabag, Killing Eve. Starred in one. Is writing the next Bond film. Starred in many. Broad church as well. She's quietly and loudly there, but she's always making the entertainment world better.
I agree with you. She is adorable, talented, intelligent, funny, attractive...she's perfect!
PWB plans on writing herself into KE S3 to be killed by Villanelle, so technically she'll star in both of her own shows ;))
She has a show called Crashing....so good too! I love her
It astonishes how brilliantly genius and talented she is
@@kristagemini Yes I love that one too.
“It was just for the three of us that moment” 😂😂😂
I need a Phoebe Waller-Bridge podcast.
I need a Phoebe Waller-Bridge clone to be my hilarious best friend.
She appears in an episode of Guilt and Shame podcast. It's about topics that are normally seen as taboo. Her episode is about pooping.
Wherever the petition is, I sign it!
I'm a year late to the conversation but she's on a few episodes of The Guilty Feminist, one of them very recently!
Her voice is so soothing
I binge watched "Fleabag" in 2 days. All 12 episodes. Its great but season 2 is better.
She's also in show called Crashing...only 6 episodes but its good.
2 days?!?!?! Those are rookie numbers. I finished it in around 6 hours. Saw all 12 episodes back to back with random snack breaks here and there.
@@Polaris2000- I have a life.
@@NewfieParamedic fair enough!
I think I made it last a little bit longer. It was so good. I didn't want it to be over so soon. And like, it doesn't really need a third season, but damnit I want more. And Phoebe's wonderful. Instantly fell in love with her. Crashing is pretty good too.
The audience and Colbert totally missed that "fart and you'll miss me" line.
I did too, lol
That made me laugh super
Hard
She’s British. He’s an American. If it’s subtle they’ll miss it. If it’s layered it’ll just confuse them.
I mean, I know it's a show, but who else was waiting for Phoebe to look at the camera and make a comment?
Yesss... Me!
It breaks my heart that colbert doesn't know how to interview her and the audience don't appreciate her enough. Do they have any idea????
He is not a good interviewer, whenever someone is too confident and takes over the stage... he doesn't interact with them. Seth is the real deal
A quintessential American interviewer will rarely have a meaningful chat with a quintessential British artist.
Ema Yes, I've noticed that. He'll frequently leave an "over confident" guest hanging. Not laughing at their story or asking interested questions. I even saw it with Obama recently although much worse when he's interviewing a woman
Pip, it breaks my heart that you can't grasp the difference between don't and doesn't.
@@Litawyn ooops the audience doesn't * my first language is Arabic and my second is English. Thanks for pointing it out!
“Don’t melt Meryl” 😂
I need the Phoebe Waller-Bridge Cinematic Universe.
"It was six of us and it was GLADATORIAL" I died
7 of us
the build up to “MY APPLE CRUMBLE” and the execution made me cry she’s brilliant
It’s funny how these hosts don’t seem to know what to do with her because she’s so different and so new! What a breath of fresh air in this oversaturated jaded world all at your fingertips every second
What exactly about her comes across as new? I’m genuinely curious because I’m trying understand.
@@X-AEA-12 she’s so incredibly human. Always tries to speak her truth even when showing yourself authentically in the show business world especially is terrifying
That Meryl Streep anecdote was hilarious!!, Colbert’s lukewarm unresponsive reaction to it on the other hand was somewhat perplexing
I feel like Colbert was trying to keep up lol. She’s really funny, but in a subtle way that a lot people are not used to. She also talks pretty fast. She’s an artistic genius, but I wouldn’t call her a comedian.
@@sarahj132 A fantastic story teller she is.
Really not that funny. Colbert's response was much more exuberant than it should have been.
He did fine. He did not step on her. He knew that they were about to go to break. What should he have done, ROTFLOL?
She is fabulously talented. He should not have left her hanging after her Meryl story. She is charming, intelligent and a genuine raconteur.
He wasn't allowed to reply as they had to go to commercial break - they have strict timings for live shows and earpieces demanding they cut people off unfortunately. I guess he saw more value in showing her playbill again rather than continuing a rushed conversation?
Barry Miller I agree with you. She is incredibly talented and comes across brilliantly in interviews - this Streep story was rather a silly set up I think - these interviews will come back to haunt all these Late Show interviewers when she’s picking up gongs for writing and acting in the very near future. I predict great things for this very talented actor/writer.
Stephen is kind of douche sometimes I've noticed. He feels the need to put "people in their place." He apparently forgot his job is primarily to interview actors.
Colbert was struggling to keep up with her.
He just didn't seem interested in the slightest...his loss.
I love that woman so, so much! Witty, genial, self-deprecating and grounded. And never mind that _Fleabag_ and _Killing Eve_ are bloody genius... ❤️
Clothilde by far the best two series on TV atm 👌🏽
I've not risked letting myself get sucked into Killing Eve yet. I'm too aware of how weak I'll be in its presence. Things to do!
Neil Hansford
I think I binged the entire first series in one night! It is compulsive viewing. Go on...treat yourself...
Neil Hansford I am a glutton for punishment!! After bingeing on season 2 of “FleaBag” I needed more of her..
She is ridiculously attractive!
How do I become her best friend.
sparksoffyou
By stalking her on twitter and Instagram, of course ;D
Get in line sister.
Right!?! She is my cup of tea.
Saaame
"MY APPLE CRUMBLE!!"
she seems so much more humble, intelligent and eloquent than a lot of Hollywood actors. We need more of these.
“guys have you seen star wars... it’s like really good”👀😂😂
"Fart and you'll miss me" hahahahahahaha
That had me cracking up too! I think the audience totally missed that one!
@@shotjohnny Even Stephen seemed to miss that
@@shotjohnny Yep they all missed it
Americans
It's a very British phrase, actors say it a lot when they have a tiny part in a movie.
This human is such a breath of fresh air ;)
The world needs a Waller-Bridge Gwendoline Christie buddy cop movie.
Can't wait to see what effect she had on the Bond script! She's so fantastic with dialogue.
“Oh my god when are we gonna hang out again?” 😂😂
She’s a genius! What a way to tell a story. I can’t believe Steven just left her hanging after that awesome story.
“It was just for the three of us” lol
Kinda wish she had shared the joke that made Meryl Streep laugh.
Kinda wish she had talked about Killing Eve season 2!
@@juliag.5114 she didn't write the second season :'(
@@floptune8515 She was one of the exec producers on series 2.
i knooooowwww
I feel so proud of this amazingly talented woman getting the appreciation she so definitely deserves
I didn't know she WROTE fleabag as well. What a Renaissance lady!
Lol that's the first thing that she is. A writer❤
Fleabag is one of the few tv series that makes me genuinely roar with laughter. I love PWB, she's so original and funny and deliciously inappropriate.
love her writing! the perfect mixture of humour and darkness
I’m from England Iv never heard of her until about an hour ago I’m on episode 2 of fleabag and I have to say she’s absolutely amazingly talented and hilarious
Why have I never heard of this woman until now? She's such an irresistible bundle of joy!
Gosh, she’s so beautiful and unbelievably talented! I just ❤️❤️❤️ her to pieces!
She deserves all of the nominations and awards... I’m so happy she’s getting the much more recognition. She’s honestly the real deal. And also Olivia Colman.
It's not her last name, it's the proposal of our infrastructure budget.
Ooh, you just made me laugh and cry at the same time

Social Credit Score: Critical epic win
She is my favourite new person!! She's just such a natural story teller! I feel like her moment with Meryl could be a movie
I adore that actress...very talented and her personality is refreshingly down to earth.
Absolutely loved her in Crashing (the uk th show) and fleabag. She's so talented.
I finished Crashing like a week ago... I'm so bloody pissed it only has one season :( Also been waiting for new seasons of Fleabag but Phoebe is busy with all her other projects.
OMFG Just watched the interview... SEASON 2 Of FLEABAG IS HERE!!!!
Crashing was awesome! Fleabag is good too.
It's unrelated, but "Can't Cope, Won't Cope" is on Netflix and you'll like that if you liked Crashing and Fleabag.
@@internetuser8922 Thanks for the tip. I'll check it out :)
ozeppeo | really? Her character was so horrible and annoying, I found it hard to watch. That said, in general, I always like when shows only have one or two short seasons.
The main thing is her story telling!
I guess a good story teller is able to narrate complex ideas and thoughts in very simple language... She does it quite well 🙂
She’s so charming it’s incredible
She’s my British dream girl. That took balls to do that to Meryl. I like it!
I adore this woman! So happy she won! Fleabag and Crashing and Killing Eve, are amazing series! More Fleabag please!
The first episode of the second season of Fleabag was SO good. Can't wait for the rest.
So was the second one! It's so rare to laugh out loud throughout a comedy episode but Fleabag magically achieves it for me
I think season 2 is stronger than 1, I'm in shock the whole time at how amazing it is
Loved season 2.
She is great fleabag is amazing thanks for having her.
*don't melt Meryl* and *MY APPLE CRUMBLE!!* made my evening lmaooo!!
Phoebe, I don't know one can amaze me every 20 seconds like you.
i could listen to her talk for hours
"Fart and you miss me" 😂😂
She’s so much fun she’s so charming it’s rare to see anyone with the amount of charm she possesses
I love this woman. She’s brilliant
Never seen Stephen so absent...WTF, man?! I feel like he is not keen on her--fake smiling at her and not playing into what she is saying. She is so awesome!
A G - maybe just letting her do her thing.. he isn't great with subtle stars opening them up - Cillian Murphy, a great talent, was the worst I can remember
Jealous, probably, and not prepared to handle it.
Maybe he doesn't know her and wasn't prepped properly? If so, his loss (and I like him).
@@dmann1115 Why would he be jealous? that doesn't make sense. I think Stephen is just backing down and letting her do her thing because she's quite chatty. To be honest though she does sound quite like a scatterbrain here.
He obviously didn’t watch fleabag. As a massive catholic he would have a view on it.
Phoebe is such a good story teller!
Fleabag -- sheer brilliance!
Love Phoebe!
*I binge-watched fleabag both seasons in 5 hours and I love it Phoebe is such a charmingly funny sweetheart*
She is so charming.
Love EVERYTHING about her... she is incredibly talented, funny, smart, and gorgeous. And Fleabag is a brilliant show!
PWB just knocks me out. When she was put together they used all the best bits in the shed. Absolutely. She be da force!
One of THE most talented stars we have in the UK today ❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍
PWB defines 'natural story teller' - a raconteur by any measure. What delightful guest she makes.
Fleabag is a masterpiece.
Aaahhh I love her so much
Me too.. she's just exceptional to watch..
Me too!
I was reading Henry Nouwen in Hyde Park. She stopped and talked to me and while we were both walking to Queensway station we discussed the book with me. Best experience ever! Super kind, funny and smart.
Love love Phoebe! She's a fantastic actress!!
Fleabag is a fucking masterpiece
She's an inspiration, not because everything she's done, but because she's a weird mess and can make people uncomfortable if she's feeling nervous, and she's confident about it. I love her. That story was priceless
This was a genuine and hilarious interview. Thank you Mr Colbert.
That dress is the definition of gorgeous!
TOTALLY CRUSHING ON HER😍😍
"My hair keeps falling in a chic way" cant remember the last time i heard a man say that
I just adore this woman
Fleabag is brilliant, been waiting for couple of years for Series (Season) 2 and last week it started in the UK and it's still quality viewing.
Bridge tells a good story.. any story.. she tells it realy good. Bless the storyteller
I heard how amazing Fleabag was but just found time to binge watch during quarantine and it was magnificent. The humor was everything I needed
This is my first introduction to Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and all I can say is that she seems fudging delightful! I want to put her in my pocket and be friends forever
Brilliance.. creative genius ... waiting for more Phoebe🖤

I think it's just humor. Not "British", not "American", just material that's hilarious.
We had an independent running for London Mayor called Count Binface that was going to rename London Bridge to Phoebe Waller.
She is so incredibly charming. Could listen to her talk for ages!
She is lovely💛🧡💛
That audience was either struggling to follow her, too mesmerized by her or just didn't understand the jokes. 😂
