  • Taking care of the ZZ plant is super easy when you give this plant adequate lighting and water. This plant a lot of times is marketed as a low light plant but that’s not true. The ZZ plant prefers a medium to high indirect light. I would advise that you put your ZZ plant between 3 to 8 feet away from the window to ensure it gets enough lighting.
The number one cause of death to the ZZ plant is overwatering. Try to water this plant on average once every 3 to 4 weeks. Depending on how much light your plant gets the faster, the soil may dry out so it could be less than that if you get high amounts of lighting.
If you’re having issues with your soil, holding too much moisture, when you water it consider repotting to a faster draining soil mix. This plant is from areas in the world where it goes through drought seasons. The ZZ plant prefers to completely dry out in between watering‘s. If you water it too many times, and too close of time intervals the roots will start to rot away.
When it comes to repotting the ZZ plant, you should only repot this once every 2 to 3 years. The plant will tell you when it needs to be repotted. Signs of needing a re-pot consist of the plant entirely stop growing and also the pot will start to look, weird because the roots are trying to push away at the pot.
The ZZ plant is extremely easy to take care of all you have to do is make sure it’s getting enough lighting and you don’t water it too often. This is one of the easiest plants in the hobby, and I would consider it to any beginner. The sheer beauty of the ZZ plant ensures that everyone will love this when seeing it in your household.

11:46 a.m. found your website looking for aloe vera care BUT love this ZZ plant info. I inherited an absolutely dead ZZ plant and I dried out the soggy root tubers. So far my new babies are doing well but they're both little. Your video ensured my methods are correct. I know it'll take time to get new growth but I can't wait to see some new shoots. I will definitely visit your other videos.

Very true about not watering this plant often. This plant is very similar to a cactus plant in the desert you don't to water it much at all. Once a month or even every 2 months is fine.

Question I've been having good luck with my zz but for some reason one of the small shoots is yellowing but I have new ones growing and it's getting taller. I'm not sure if it's under stress or needs more light? I'm going to buy a grower light and put it over my plants I do rotate it often so that the whole thing can get direct or indirect bright light. I don't want to repot it because the soil does get evenly dry in between watering and it is not real bound yet. It's a beautiful even green color all around the one thing that's bothering me is that yellow ground shoot.
