    Thank you for the wonderful video about how to take care and transplant a ZZ plant. My ZZ Plant stems are getting too long, and didn't know that you could prune them and put them in water only like an inch from the roof up and keep them in water in a jar until they get roots so you can put them in soil and make a new plant. Thank you for teaching all of us how to do it. Question: how do I make my ZZ plant more fuller? I hope you can answer my question. Oh! And can I use miracle grow on this plant? Thank you. Many blessings go your way. 🤗

    • @AnnasViolets
      @AnnasViolets  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Flor, thank you so much for this comment, which I'm reading early in the morning and smiling. :) To make it fuller, you will need to plant several stems together, as it's not a fast growing plant. Use smaller pots, so that it grows more stems, otherwise in a bigger pot it will grow the tuber bigger. And grow it in a very bright indirect sunlight. This plant is known for being able to grow in shade, but it will grow much faster in a bright area.
      And yes, you can use Miracle Grow, maybe even the one made for succulents will be better. You can find the link to my store in the description of the video and can see all products I recommend. 🪴🪴🪴

    • @AnnasViolets
      @AnnasViolets  Před 2 lety +2

      Hey Caryn. No, if you cut the stem, it does not grow new stems from the sides. The gorwth of the cut one will stop and new stems will grow from the tuber/soil. If you want it to grow shorter, put them under direct sunlight (be careful not to burn them; it really depends on your climate too). If they grow under indirect light, the stems may grow long.

    I am having issues with my zz. I have taken it out to check the roots and they mostly look ok but there is some black bits.
    In your video at the 3min point - you talk about washing roots - did you then leave the roots exposed in that bucket for 1 week to let them dry?
    And then you mentioned you cut some parts off - how do you go about this?

    • @AnnasViolets
      @AnnasViolets  Před rokem +1

      Hey Andy, thanks for your questions and watching the video. I washed the roots to make sure I get rid of all rotten tissues. I let it dry for 2-3 days only if I have cuts or open wounds. What are the black bits on your plant? Do you mean the roots are black? If yes, you can slightly pull them. if they are rotten, they will go off easily. Or are the black spots on the tubers? In this case, slightly push on them. Are they soft and look rotten?
      You can plant your ZZ back into a pot (choose not a very big pot) and water it very rarely. Of course, it depends on the climate. But ZZ plants have tubers, where they store water and nutrients. They can go without watering for weeks.
