Some great comments & debate on Sir Bobby's XI guys, more videos coming to the channel soon.
Here's another video especially for those that liked his opinion on Duncan Edwards, with Sir Matt Busby & Jimmy Murphy talking about Duncan to.

I have lived in spain for 20 years, I am an old git that saw the Best, Charlton, Law geniuses many times. When Sir Bobby died recently, bar owners and rural farmers in the bars were all deeply moved by the great mans passing. None of them ever saw him live but they were all, old and young, aware of our grestest ever players skill, sportmanship and integrity. Made me proud to be English.

Maradona: “…when I was living in Italy they always were with the same debate: Pelé or Maradona… But when I was in Spain a few years earlier that debate didn’t exist. For the spaniards the best of all times was Alfredo Di Stefano. Period. And I think I have to agree with them”

True but it's hard to win, if he picked more modern players people would say he left out greats from his career etc. So many all time greats to pick, it's hard to really pick the best team & everyone would pick someone different etc.
He picked this in 2001, so I can see why it's dominated mostly by players he shared a pitch with. He did another in 2007 for fourfourtwo with a few changes, but only Keane & Schmeichel of the modern era made the bench.

So i wouldn't have picked them, ( both fabulous players, but Edwards gone at 21 & Best fell off at 26 ), as am stickler for longevity ~ consistency, & seeing out the talents to their maximum exposure. Because of the longevity I'd have had Maldini over him though. I like how Charlton has so much respect for Platini to, he also put him in his 2007 team. Platini doesn't often make an all time XI, but is one of the all time greats.

What a team! George best was the greatest out them all. Best had reached his peak 6 years before he was to reach his peak? Now thinking of how much greater best was going to be is scary. But sadly lost interest at age 26. Most natural gifted player ever. And bobby knows that. He said people would come from all over the place just to watch george best incase they missed something! Every where he played the ground was heaving and full up before 10am. My friend went to see best at west ham utd in 1971 and the crowd had been waiting since 7.30am to get in. Madness, but great. I have never saw a crowd que up like that before and never will. People used to try and jump over the turnstiles to get in or over any wall to see best! So they had to make the turnstiles 6ft high. I remember most grounds were just 3ft high turnstiles but just a foot high made so they kept turning round and people could jump over them or even crawl under them.

At the time FIFA ranked Jimmy Johnstone no 1 and George Best no 2 best wingers in the world. Personally I would say Johnstone was better at close up ball dribbling but in goal scoring Best had it . Anyway , on their day , they were both completely unplayable.

We're seeing the end of brilliant footballers. Since spain and guardiola started dominating football they've little by little, eliminated individual prowess in favor of tactical compliance. Thats why modern football is so incredibly boring compared to past football. We will never see again players like cruyff, maradona, beckenbauer, di stefano, pelé, platini,. Now the best players in the world are mbappé and haaland, both good players who rarely show the imagination, skill and talent you'd expect from the best player in the world

I see what you're saying & you make a great point, but IMO Mbappe is a player like that with flair, skill & quality. A guy you could just give the ball to & watch him entertain, but maybe he has less freedom today to express himself fully.
