Great to hear someone mention players from pre prem era
Sky Sports think football only came into existence when the premier league started.
â@@Kevin-lf4xxgiven that it was sky who rebranded English football as "the premier league" and built a huge amount of their success from it, it's hardly surprising is it?
If only we had Robbo or Roy Keane now; both leaders, legends and always gave their all for the club. Bryan Robson practically carried us for a decade.
Robbo won us 3 FA Cups [83-85-90]. If he had stayed fully fit & was free on injury Im certain we'd have picked up a League Title in the mid 80s. There was a nucleus of a good team but injuries & boozing let them down. Ten straight wins @ beginning of the 85 season on the back of one of those Cup triumphs should have been it. Within a year Big Ron was gone. Some Scottish bloke took his place. Wonder what happened then!!!
@@aidenpower1844 Bryan was a class act and never seems to get the credit he deserves when all time greats are mentioned. He played from 1981 to 1994 with us.
He is sorely overlooked as his best years with the club were pre. premier league.
For me Bryan Robson was better than keane
â@@allanfarran364fully agree imagine prime robbo in the team Keane was in
Keane learnt from the best captain marvel.
ROBBO!!! A true legend and saw him play for Utd many times back in the 80,s. He was the best midfielder and captain I've seen at Old Trafford!! Captain marvel indeed!!!!!!
Great to hear Tony Dunne get a mention. When I was a kid, I used to read football magazines and standard player questions inclded Who is your most difficuult opponent? The answer was usually Tony Dunne
Ahead of his time Dunner.
So good to see Bryan looking so well. Great the he selected Tony Dunne and Duncan Edwards
Giggs is going to kill me because I picked George Best instead of him.If anyone chose the other way round they'd be clueless
Best was the first name on the team sheet full stop.
Best was a genius. You can't compare Giggs with him.
BEST ARE BEST
Robbo was surely the man that started the phrase box to box player. He was everywhere. Would have loved to see him at Highbury đ
There would have been no Roy Keane without players like Bryan Robson and Stuart Pearce taking him under their wing as a young developing player.... đźđȘđ€đŽó §ó ąó „ó źó §ó ż
"Ronaldo let himself down in his second spell"... For calling out the most abhorrent parasitic ownership in the whole of sport, and a manager who did nothing but disrespect him. If you say so Bryan...
best United XI I've heard yet, I got to look up Tony Dunne
Four Irishmen in the All Time XI, just shows how far weâve fallenâŠ
yes, Ireland have produced many individual footballing greats over the last 120 years
had Magrath not been a drunk, fergy wouldn't have sold him to villa - he undoubtedly turned Aston Villa into title contenders along with winning the league cup back to back
@@matthewbaker2573 Yes, although I would say in Paulâs case, there are extenuating circumstances, he had a very rough upbringing in an orphanage, being rejected by his father, some racial abuse in Ireland etc. Less so in Bestâs case.
Itâs amazing to think that we might only have seen 70-80 per cent of McGrathâs potential.
Amazes me when people say keane was an average player
Its just recency bias and because of his onscreen persona. Keane was undisputably world class in his prime and anyone who said otherwise at the time would be laughed out of a debate. People who think otherwise werent around at the time or just being tribal. Box to box, brilliant passer of the ball, excellent all round technique and could score too. He has been rebranded as a sort of basic hardman these days which is a misrepresentation of his talents. I mean, he certainly was that too at times but that is nothing to do with his ability.
His âKeaneâ strength not mentioned was he didnât give the ball away, if he did it would be won back immediately ..
This skill alone is missing in the Utd team right now..
There isnât a football fan around in the 90âs that would say that. Keane was a beast, we all hated him because he and United were that good.
â@@hellalive8973Fair play for the honesty lad đ
I've honestly never heard or read that. Nobody around in that era didn't want him in their team. He was more than a top player. He demanded certain standard a led his team on and off the pitch.
Keane and Robbo- would love to have them playing now
I got goosebumps after she read out the lineup in the end. Itâs not easy to pick just 11âŠbut can never disagree wiith Captain Marvel. An absolute hero.
Good man Robo , great selection savage team pick, so many more to choose from as there was serious past players and of course yourself as you were one of the best midfielders that the UK have ever seen
Love the team. On Rooney, canât help but add that he became england and Manchester Unitedâs highest scorer despite not being what you would call a traditional striker. And tbf fergie did play him all over.
Not often a 'greatest ever 11' includes the GOAT: Bestie himself. How anyone could string a team together without George Best is bewildering, but they do.
What a player robbo†great to see him looking so well

Manager: Sir Alex Ferguson
GK Schmeichel
RB Edwards
CB Stam
CB Ferdinand
LB Irwin
CM Keane
CM Robson
RW Cristiano
CAM Charlton
LW Best
CF Rooney
thats pretty good but no Scholes?
Iâd have McGrath for Stam. Stam wasnât there long enough to deserve a place. Yes he was good but not enough body of work at Utd to deserve a place. Iâd also have Scholes for Rooney. Itâs insane not to have Scholes.
Keane Robbo and charlton midfield đź
Rooney over Law,Van Nistelrooy not in a million years đź
You mention players that were good. But would they work well together. Yorke and Cole were a fabulous pairing. Its almost like they could read each others minds.
But for playing style, what were Manchester United winning until the unmentioned Cantona turn up. Can't believe Cantona wasn't mentioned. He made United win games.
All I say you can't leave out most of the number seven players. Maybe 1 or 2.
That team had to include Bryan RobsonâŠ.. he is THE reason I became a Manchester United fan in the first place! First player Iâd pick every time. â€
Whenever i hear people talking about Peter Schmeichel, i never hear them mention his distribution...that guy could throw the full length of the pitch. His distribution was insane at times.
Bryan Robson, my hero for eternity, he's the reason I fell in love with United as a young kid in the 80's when all my mates were choosing Liverpool, since then I have been honoured to witness many great players pull on that red shirt, some of those players had even more talent than Robbo, but not one who had more determination, more desire, more pride, add that determination, desire and pride to his outstanding talent and you've got everything a Manchester United player should be, he was superb and how we miss his like today.
ughhh! u and your mates sound like proper glory-hunters.
Oh wait...................................... u are
@@johnblacksmith9505 you sounding like you can't read, been a United fan for 40 years, how does that make me a glory hunter ya weapon đ€
Bryan Robson Magnificent Captain Midfielder of United.
I have always wondered how United fans tend omit players like Charlton , Best and Law in their Ultimate United 11 . ( that's 3 Ballon D'Or winners ) . Mind boggling . Kudos to Robbo adding Duncan Edwards and Dunne
So if Duncan Edwards is in the best United team of all time at centre half - would you also say if he had lived then he would have taken Bobby Moores place in the England 66 world cup team ? this is a question I have often wondered about.
30years of being a United fan but this is a class for me for the pre premier League era
After Bryan named Bobby Charlton as his first central midfielder I thought he might say Roy Keane. As someone who grew up supporting United from the mid 90s Keane is in my top 3 United players of all time but I feel like Robbo is being a bit humble here. From everything I've heard he was every bit the Steven Gerrard of the 80's for United so he'd be my pick alongside Bobby Charlton - humility is a very admirable character trait though. I'm going to guess he'll have Giggsy at left wing even though that's not that much of a stretch of the imagination lol.
Bryan was himself one of the all time greats
You can mention players that were good. But would they work well together. Yorke and Cole were a fabulous pairing. Its almost like they could read each others minds.
But for playing style, what were Manchester United winning until the unmentioned Cantona turn up. Can't believe Cantona wasn't mentioned. He made United win games. The Cantona style of play was still going after he left. (For a time)
All I say you can't leave out most of the number seven players. Maybe 1 or 2.
Great team! Perfect blend of old and new. Most people pick from their own generation only. Though, it makes sense to prefer those you played with or against: youâve witnessed first-hand their wizardry.
Never saw him play, but every single prem legend rate him as one of the best to wear the man u crest. He's a legend
How lovely is Bryan Robson?
Three Rep Ireland players .Dunne, Irwin and Keane đ Robbo.
And a Northern Irish player with Best :)
1st name on the Team Sheet
Duncan Edwards
But no place for Eric?
Glad Keane got in there đȘ
Real players honestly and great entertainers on the playing field in those days â€
biggest mistake when fergie left
was not giving Robbo the job
knew the club inside out
would have kept the back room staff which at that time were the backbone of United , devastating change to the team.
now you got players who think theyâve a right to do what they like and think nothing of losing

omg that would be some team
What a team... for me subs .. Van Der Sar, McGrath, Robbo, Giggs, Becks, Eric
No Scholes, Van Nistelrooy or Ferdinand
Keane on bench robbo starting best captain we've ever had love Keane but robbo used to drag teams with him kicking an screaming to win things
Mcgrath was a drunk while at United - I'd take the McGrath that showed up for Villa though
thanks for your imput Sam
Manchester United have had so many great players over the years that it must be a nightmare picking their best XI. One he possibly forgot was Billy Meredith, the Welsh Wizard !!!
That's a team that I know would be well able to handle itself under any circumstances..
Wow, what would that team cost today? Priceless. Apart from Ronaldo, there would be no rolling about or waving of arms. Not so sure Keano and Sir Bobby would get along though. Apart from Duncan Edwards, I watched all of those players play. They were never rushed, always composed. No Scholes, Giggs, Becks, Ruud, Andy Cole etc etc. Just shows how far the club has fallen. We WILL return.
What do you mean about Ronaldo?
*Bryan's:*
Schmeichel
Dunne
Irwin
Edwards
Stam
Ronaldo
Charlton
Keane
Best
Law
Rooney
*Mine:*
Schmeichel
Irwin
Ronaldo
Buchan
Stam
Giggs
Edwards
Charlton
Best
Cantona
Van Nistelrooy
Roy Keane better than scholes in all time 11...no way... Scholes first player on the team sheet and others accordingly.
If you donât have Paul Scholes in your team and have Bobby Charlton I got to say Bobby Robson doesnât know Scholes is the best midfielder Manchester united as ever had and he was the greatest midfielder for two decades in the Premier League and England
I thought he'd go with Paul McGrath over Stam.
Not for United, he was barely fit.
Played nearly 170 games though.
I certainly would.
McGrath wasn't that good at Utd. He'd be well behind Vidic and Ferdinand and probably Bruce and Pallister.
@OpenDoorEnglish I've watched Utd for 50 years and McGath's the best defender I've seen, just ahead of Stam & Buchan. McGrath was that good that Rush didn't score 1 goal while McGrath was in our team. Just think about that!!!
They all rate Irwin, kinda went under the radar with other so called superstars in the team
Irwin gave a solid 7/10 + performance in every single game he played - when it comes to playing for the badge - that guy mounts the pedestal
Keane was the best centre midfield of his generation (certainly in the Premier). Robson was better.
Who was better in their prime Robson or Gerrard? I always thought they eere very similar players, with similar careers. Being the best player for a fallen giant at the time, surrounded by not so great players for their club. Dragging the team to wins. Im 31, so never seen Robbo..but i always wondered who was actually better?
It's not all one sided but Robson was a better all round player and leader. The reasons for that are that Gerrard was at his best as an attacking midfielder and even played in the number 10 role for Liverpool as the man just behind the striker. However if you take penalties out of his total, his goals scored were not much higher than Robson who played much of his later career as a holding midfielder. Robson surprisingly also outscored Gerrard for England scoring 26 goals in 90 games where Gerrard only scored 21 in 114 games!
It's also important to recognise that Robson was a natural leader. All players improved by 10% when Robson was playing. Gerrard led by example the same as Robson, but he wasn't a talker and left that job to Carragher.
For England Robson was loved by the fans because he gave his all and brought his club form to England. By his own admission Gerrard didn't bring his club form to England and when Captain presided over one of the worst periods in England's history at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa when England were crushed by Germany in the first knock out round!
Robson also won 2 Premier League Titles something which Gerrard never managed.
Dear god have a fkn word with yourself man. Slippy G is THE most overrated player in all of English football. He was never even the best midfielder at LIVERPOOL in his time and certainly not even fit to polish Robbo's boots.
Robb was fabulous but injured for 1/3 of teh games most seasons
@@Pat14922 It was a mark of the man that despite being worth 1.8 Million, which seemed an absolute fortune back then, he would go into challenges as if his life depended on it. Playing in midfield against Souness, McMahon, Vinnie Jones, etc it was inevitable that he would pick up a few injuries going into 50/50's, with the pace and power Robbo had!
â@@paulsmith2516Yes as complete midfielders Alonso and MacAlister were far more accomplished alongside him
That is most def the best Man Utd 11,i'e seen picked..And for once u did'nt see a obvious bias towards his own era!
Glad to see Keane, the best player and first name on the team sheet of Fergies era, get some love instead of the usual Scholes revisionist drivel because he was good at one-touch đ€Šââïž
that team Robbo picked would win the CL even with southgate as manager, hell even with the useless lump we've got now ETH, that's how good they were. PErsonally though Id pick van der sar instead of Peter, and Id play ith just one striker, Denis law, and scholes behind him
Keane would love the way he spoke about Schmeichel đ
Why the weird foggy effect on the video??
8:27 for people like me who just want to know
Bryan Robson is still my favourite United player of all time
Robbo†first player on any team sheet
This team would smash most team today.
correction; this team would smash ALL teams today ;)
Robbo â€
Dunne was the only player I'd never heard of...
Cantona?
No Cantona??
Amazing that almost everyone includes Jaap. Obviously made a big impression.
Shame about the book...
Bryan Robson...my No1 English player of the last 50 years. Not an MUFC supporter btw.
Duncan Edwards was a midfielder
And from the same era- Tommy Taylor at No 9. I saw them both. Tommy had the best strike record of any CF, including Rooney. I'm not sure Robo's team would gel though, with players from different era's and different playing systems. Sam was right when he said you could pick another team just as good.
Schmeichel
Irwin
McGrath
Edwards
Byrne
Charlton
Scholes
Robbo
Best
Rooney
Cantona
Bryan Robson should be the current Manchester United manager instead of ten hag
Scholes cantona
No Scholes?
4 irishmen. Not bad
The legend Bryan robson â„ïž
Nice rug đź
You saw it ???,I coudnt see her snatch,
i love this team only miss bryan and beckham
It shocks me how big Sam sneaks into utd all the time just cos he was fergies mate
Are we sure Bryan Robson isn't Fregie's love child? What a resemblance đđđ
I suspect this was Robbo's thinking regarding the full backs:
Right back? I'm struggling here. Fvcking hell, I can't be putting Gary bloody Neville in an all time Utd XI... let's get creative here....
He had 34 appearances at right back so not really.
@@hulkhogan3104 I refer as much if not more to him choosing a left back he's never seen (or even seen much/any footage of).
Why not? The most successful right back the Premier League and Manchester United have ever seen. Don't believe all the bollocks even Gary hinself comes out with, the man was an INCREDIBLE player. Superb tackler, never stopped running, tremendous crosser of a ball and along with Becks, made us UNTOUCHABLE down that side of the park. You obviously didn't actually watch Gary play.
@@paulsmith2516 He was indeed a very good player over a large number of years for Utd. And he probably is a bit too self deprecating. The sort of excellent player and loyal servant who certainly should be in the conversation for the all time XI but you're kinda looking for someone a bit more sensational.
Robbo has got a proper alkie nose going on
Paul mcgrath best center half in england bar any..
I would have Scholes in there but otherwise har team
Robbo..is the definition of a hard player..not dirty keane dirty....suparb player robbo..
Cantona not in the team is criminal have to have him upfront for rooney
4 Irishmen in the team đźđȘđđźđȘđđźđȘđ
Captain Marvel ROBBO #7. Absolute LEGEND!
Captain Marvel
I would swap Rooney for Cantona
Has his speech got slower
had surgery and radiotherapy back in 2012 for throat cancer
@YusufEbr jesus hadn't realised thanks for info
Too many balls to the head?
ââ@@Sheepwillbesheeptoo many pints more like.
Throat cancer, in remission 10 years plus, took a while to get his tones back
Bryan Robson was 1 when when Duncan Edwards died, so...
What makes people do intros of things, said and done, which I am planning on watching anyway?
It's honestly insufferable.
Still have to watch for Robson tho
agreed...its why i skipped it
She just laughs at owt đ
Imagine how happy she is when sheâs really happy and not playing kid mum to ex pros đą
Great team, but i think Becks, Eric Cantona and Giggs should fit in there, somewhere. Oh, and Sorry Bryan. You would have to take a back seat to Sir Alex in the Manager role. đ
I would be a hypocrite if K didnt have my home boy, Yorke on the bench, at least.
đąđź
Paul McGrath not at centre half? He was way better than Jaap Stam
Don't be daft. They're 2 top players, except one of them was never fit and often didn't play at centre half.
Big Paul was fantastic for Villa and Ireland, but his best days were probably not at United.
No. No he wasn't. He was fairly good yes but a complete piss artist who could barely run the length of himself, against the best central defender the Premier League ever had.
@@paulsmith2516fairly good?đ He is one of only 6 defenders to win player of the year! The guy was one of the best the English league has ever seen!
Itâs very clear youâve never seen him play. Every striker during the 80s and 90s both domestically and in Europe have quoted him as the toughest opponent theyâve faced. He got in the World Cup 90 best 11 playing in Midfield!!! And to suggest he couldnât run đ, he was one of the quickest defenders around! Utterly clueless!
Bloody hell. Ancient history.
Yes. Hannibal wasn't on it.
Probably would have picked rio over jaap but hey ho what a team
Schmeichel
Irwin
Stam
Rio
Eva
Ronaldo
Robson
Edwards
Best
Law
Charlton
Subs Van der Sar
Vidic
Scholes
Keane
Cantona
I wouldn't have evra anywhere near the likes of Tony Dunne, Roger Byrne or Johnny Carey, watched Patrice live all his playing career, good going forward but use do my head in defending by backing off in the box
3 Irishmen in team,what a team đđđ
4. Irwin, Keane, dunne, best
Jesus this woman is hard to take..
As Iâm Jesus I agree đ
