  • On the day we say farewell to the legendary Jack Charlton, here is some classic footage from our archives featuring Big Jack.
As always Sir Bobby's older brother spoke with honesty, integrity and was hugely entertaining. At the time England's 1966 World Cup winner was manager of the Republic of Ireland.
Filmed in 1995 front of a live audience in Staines, Big Jack was appearing as a special guest on a show we were filming with George Best & Rodney Marsh. Other celebrity guests included John Fashanu and Henry Cooper. The host was comedian Mike Osman. And the show was released as a chart topping video.

Tavy@ i didnt know the best and marsh road shows were on camera. Its sad to see that george was mostly a few more drincks away from being drunck and is drincking on stage and this was 1994, by his appearance a would say this was his worse years on the drinck, when you see him in 1990 then just 4 years later its starting to change his appearance very quickly as it always does, i have been there myself and it ends up frying your brain once you get into your fortys it doesnt have the same effect. You can see here george seems disintirested and his hair looked unwashed or maybe its just unhealthy the way alcohol affects your system.

the weakness in Big Jack's account of the Bob Stokoe Don Revie incident is it might not have been the incident Stokoe was referring to. Revie might have been speaking to Stokoe earlier and was hoping for confirmation of that earlier conversation.
