''They'll forget all the rubbish when I've gone, and they'll remember the football. If only one person thinks I'm the best player in the world, that's good enough for me''. Thanks George, from all of us who were lucky enough to have watched you play !
"I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered."
RIP George Best🥀
Thanks Paul, and to everyone for the warm welcome 🤟✌️🙏
Beat me to it mate.😂😂😂
@@mykehyslop198 Soz, pal🙏!
have that tattoo on my arm, legend!
@@kenmc1982 Truth! It was on a birthday card my son sent me years ago. He thought it was appropriate, for me. Looking back, I'm happy to report that he was right🤔😉👍.
It was heartbreaking to see George go downhill when alcoholism overtook him. An absolutely incredible footballer, he was such a loss to the game. There will never again be a footballer with his ability. RIP, George.
He had some of the highest highs and some of the lowest lows. He lived life full-tilt. His body couldn't keep up with his mind. What a guy, god love him.
He was a legend Paul. Such a shame that the demon drink got him. Even after receiving a liver transplant, he relapsed. Belfast born and raised.
Two transplants.
Great Irish man
2? Holy crap, thats sad then, he just could not kick the habit. @@nickgov66
A great British Ulsterman
@@nickgov66 1 transplant when they say second liver the first was his, some people are lacking in the English language
Thanks for taking the time to come to Northern Ireland and visiting George's grave Paul 🙏🙏
My late brother's favourite Man united player back in the day. My brother John was a great Man united supporter in the 60's
The likes of Bestie's genius will never be seen again. Todays so called greats play on near perfect pitches and are well pampered unlike when George played says it all really. RIP George the Best! Nice film Paul, thanks.
I read his last biography and realised what drink and the glamorous lifestyle had done to him. Unfortunately alcoholism was his downfall. He desperately tried to stop drinking even despite a liver trsnsplant. He was handsome and such a talented football player. We lost a legend when he passed away. R.I.P George Best❤
george best a true legend
He certainly lived up to his name.
R.I.P George Best.
Legend. ❤
Indeed he did Penny. Indeed he did.❤
george best was the best footballer ever
What a player he was a genius.
I went here myself in 2013 during a visit to Belfast . I don’t know about you but I had a heck of a job finding his grave as the place is huge . I found it eventually and laid my flowers down , it was a surreal feeling being there, I loved him so much, a phenomenal talent ! Had he been at his prime nowadays he would have been priceless . RIP George xx🌹
Watched him at West Ham, when the Man Utd squad was announced in order, the Hammers fans clapped, rather than booed, when George Best name was called, total respect for a legend, an emotional moment that you had to have been there to witness. 🙏
You got more people interested in football than anyone else in history. You helped Manchester United become the best known football club in the world and those that saw you play, no matter who we supported, knew we had seen a genius at work. God bless you George. We love you ❤
I remember being taken to Highbury as a young boy to see George play. I didn't support either side but was told to witness the magic of George. He didn't disappoint: scoring by dancing around Webster to equalize in a 2-2 draw. Folks, if you get the chance to make memories for people then, please, do so because it is so worth it.
Your last sentence really got to me. Ive said this for so long and tried my best to do the same for my sons, thank you.
I remember one of my neighbors in Tottenham , took me to see Spur's v Manchester united in the early 70s at White hart lane. Even the Tottenham supporter's where applauding Gearge Best when attacking the Spur's defense with such talent in the control of the ball at his feet.. He was like lightning on and off the ball. Still remember him like yesterday. Great memories from my youngest days. Loved the most talented player of all time, as far as I am concerned.
George Best was the greatest 🎉,he was my favourite player, never forget him brilliant R.I.P Goerge
This guy was an icon. It was a pity that he lived the life he did as he could still possibly be alive today. Rest in peace bro x
Forget the rest…George was the greatest footballer that ever lived
and he had such humility.
My hero.
Oh I loved him back in the day, its such a shame how he ended up bless him, can't wait for this. I've seen Our History where they find out the exact reason he passed away before his time. Xx
Thank you for this Paul, what a legend, he certainly had the fitting surname. He was amazing and so gorgeous, it's so sad that he had this demon but haven't we all.. he was the BEST football player ever.. what a man, rest in peace Georgie Best, you will never be forgotten. What a beautiful final resting place and happy to see it is looked after ❤xx
Thank you that was so interesting from New Zealand as a Luton Town supporter what a amazing player.
👍🙏
I WILL BE WATCHING PAUL I HAVE NEVER SEEN GEORGES GRAVE 🙏🥀
Wales v Northern Ireland, Home International match at Swansea around 1971, was waiting at the Train station after the match when I heard this screaming and George appeared running along the platform with his team bags to get the train to Paddington. What was funny was that there were two policemen trying to keep up with him (and failing) and behind them were about fifty screaming girls trying to catch him - I think he managed to get the train without mishap. Wouldn't happen now with the cosseted life Premier players ( who haven't the tenth of the talent George had) have but shows how times have changed. Thankyou George, one of the best players the world has seen....
🙏
What a legend he was and will always be
I was one of many thousands of fans locked outside O.T. when George scored that memorable goal against Sheffield United , i was 15 I'M 67 now, and yet every time I see that goal on vidio i break my heart. . . . . . . . THANKS GEORGE FOR BEING THE BEST. . . . . . . .
I was born in stretford Manchester he played for my home team man united he was a legend I was onlly a baby when he played football my dad met him in the early 80s very sad end to his life fame and fortune such a killer with famous people heavy drinking etc but a true great RIP George
The greatest footballer ever - bar none!
You know it!👍🇪🇬👹
This the day after another footballing icon has passed away the great Sir Bobby Chalton, even though they were miles apart as men they played and had great respect for one another i was lucky enough to see them play a few times, both the best at their style of play. George was the reason i started to watch and support United, what he could of done with the light modern ball on the bowling green pitches now, but like most of the geniuses in sport im afraid they have their flaws but lets just remember him for the player he was.
I've seen loads of the greats live over my 64 years. He is right up there with the true greats.
George Best was the Best .👍
george the best
I followed WOLVES home and away in the 1970's and watched GEORGE BEST several times . A great player RIP
Best footballer ever lived 😢
What a lovely kept grave obviously his fans still visit and leave flowers. A great watch.
thanks, Paul, yes he was the best footballer ever R.I. P.
Great tribute Paul 💛 he was a Great player .. sadly the drink got him .. Unfortunately Gazza is going the same way
Was fortunate to see him play live many times..a genius….A friend of his sister, dear Barbara.
Legend!
One of the greatest of all time....
Six of the Best. Absolute Legend. United United United.,
George best was gifted with a certain magic that could only be described as a rare but double edged sword he had a rare andastonishing style of football anybody would've killed for the gift he had its still hard to believe he's gone RIP el beatle
What a legend .. many thanks Paul - saw him play in charity game after he retired , he ran rings round players - so much talent - lived life to the full bless him .. cheers
Though an Everton fan, I was lucky to see George at the peak of his career in the mid 1960s
One game I recall was Everton v Man Utd in August 1966. Everton were a top side and FA Cup holders
But in a mid week match at Goodison Park, George created two second half goals for United to win 2-1
His display against full back Ray Wilson was world class. and he had been a full England international.
In August 1967 the two sides met again, and to see George, Alex Young, Alan Ball, Denis Law, and Bobby Charlton on the same pitch was watching world class players that would grace any era. Everton won that game which is on YT.
He brought entertainment in two styles, one for his football ⚽️ genius. Unfortunately, the other for alcoholism and subsequently his death
Now at peace 😢😢 RIP George Best
Geoge Best was the first superstar footballer. He was amazing to watch.and the best looking man l have ever seen.
It was the drink that destroyed him.
I remember as a teenager thinking what incredible skills George had. RIP George.
George Best was to football, what Jimi Hendrix was to the guitar. At the very peak of their powers, both men were unbeatable and a joy to watch.
He was in a field of one. RIP
Looking forward to this one.
I'm originally from Northern Ireland but living in England for many years. I always watch your videos and it's great to see you making programmes from Northern Ireland.
Awesome! Thank you!
Addiction is such a horror for anyone, but to have to live it and die trying to break free from it in the public gaze must be even more cruel if that's possible. Gorgeous George, rest in peace. Gave so much pleasure to all who love the "beautiful" game.
I remember going to watch Fulham play and as I was walking to the turnstiles there was some shouting so I turned round to see what was happening. Walking up the road was George Best and Rodney Marsh if only Mobiles were around then I would of got a great photo as he walked by me smiling. What a legend RIP George Best ❤
Being a Belfast lad I found George's grave a few years back. My parents/grandparents are in Roselawn. Sorry our weather wasn't better during your visit Paul. Thanks for the work you do it's a great channel 👍
My late mother was one of the tea ladies back in the late 60's 70's @ Stoke City Football Club. I remember mum taking me down to the old Victoria Ground in 1971 , I was 13 . I stood near the players tunnel and watched the Man Utd players run out onto the pitch , has George Best came past me he patted me on my head and said " you ok mate " .I was blown away he scored both goals that day. To me George Best was the greatest footballer I've ever seen RIP GB , Thanks Paul for yet another superb video
Remember him as a legend and not for his off field life ….truly best by name and best by nature 😢😢
Hi Paul keep up the good work 👍
So excited for this one 🙌🏻
He may have had his demons but on the pitch he was a genius. RIP George.
One of the best footballers ever ❤ xx👍👉
Can’t wait for the video Paul 👍
I never really got into footie, but as a kid I can so remember the utter magic of the skills of George Best, it was like he knew he was, well just the Best, he would just run rings around any other player, we all wanted to look like him with his good looks, he used to feature large in the clothing ads in the catalogs, a real trend setter was George..
Back in the 70s in Africa as 13 year old playing football several of our friends called themselves George Best.Oh he was the world best in his days tearing down defences.i am in Belfast on holiday and will fly out of Belfast Airport named in his honour.Thankyou for honouring a man who cheered up many spectators.
Paul thank you for visiting his grave he was an excellent football player x❤
You've done well here Paul & thx to Aqua too. Great post. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday evening buddy 👍 😁 😎 💯 x
I Love football
George was a true legend ⚽️🏆⚽️
Hi Paul, my late Father saw Best play for Utd at Anfield Against Liverpool and he told me he was the best Winger he had ever seen. And this is from a Man who was Liverpool through and Through.
He must have been decent for my Dad to say that about George. Sad the way he passed due to drink.
I used to watch soccer saturday when George was a guest on there. He seemed like a shy nervous type of man who you wouldn't dream would be in the limelight.
RIP George 🕊🙏⚽️ Great video Paul from Liverpool UK
Liked the video Paul thank you looking forward to the next video 🙂👍👌
Such a talented player that went to waste, but will always be remembered as part of the trinity. RIP Georgie Best
Thanks Paul, I really did enjoy watching this video and well done for taking the trip to N. Ireland 👍 I was lucky enough to see George Best play for my team Hibernian, his home debut in Edinburgh, December 79. He could not prevent my team being relegated at the end of that season, but he did show his genius on many occasions, for all fans who were lucky enough to see him play in Scotland from 1979 - 80. Stand out games, beating Rangers just before Christmas 79, scoring against Celtic, Jan 80. The ball and goalkeeper Peter Latchford into the net. The game finished 1 - 1, a Hibs penalty was also missed in that match, which came off the bar, not taken by George. He played in the Scottish Cup semi - final, April 80 against Celtic at Hampden Park, Glasgow. One flash of genius in the centre circle, even had the Celtic fan’s applauding, however he could not stop a Celtic win. For anyone interested please check the famous picture of George surrounded by empty glasses in an Edinburgh pub, looking bleary eyed. A one in a million shot by the photographer, the truth being the whole Hibs team were there and all drinking, not just George. The name of the pub, Jinglin Geordie, not named after Mr Best. A book written covers many a story, ‘When George Came to Edinburgh’. If anyone visits the pub, yes there is copy of the photograph and the story. From his time at Hibernian, the players from that era all say, he was no ‘big time Charlie’, very generous and a nice guy. Unfortunately he had his demons and he did. Personally, the most gifted footballer I’ve ever seen play and my favourite. George, R.I.P. with Mum and Dad 🙏
Some people just don't realise he was such a courteous quiet person. He did so much for charity. People only think about him as a footballer but he was so much more. He loved helping children.
Loved g best used to wach with my dad. And I loved the song the foot ball song all😢 players had for him.. Going on up to the spirit s in the sky.....👏👏Flaming brilliant 😊
George was an amazing footballer , he worked hard and played even harder. I met him in manchester definitely had the Irish charm. All the girls loved him .
Lovely to see that his grave has been kept so beautifully.
So sad to see how alcohol destroyed his life especially his last photo to the public 😢
Will always be remembered as a legend in the football world
Bless you George. So sad that evil disease got the better of you. The word 'legend' is thrown about to easily nowadays but George really deserves the title. He was an absolute footballing genius. Hope you're well Paul. Love both your channels mate.
We used to sing to George when we went to Old Trafford,Georgi the Belfast boy what a legend of a player back in his football days. Then he turned to drink and woman what a G.OAT R.I.P💔💔💔💔💔💔💔
George Best was my boyhood hero and I was privileged to see him play numerous times .The original superstar footballer
I met him when I lived in Northern Ireland in the late 60's. I was very young but I still have his autograph in my loft.
We pass his old home almost every day that he had whilst playing for Manchester United near Woodford,Stockport U.K.
That is a beautiful resting place and very well-kept, Clean and tidy but not manicured. Fit for a king like George.
Great player my hero growing up simply the BEST. PUP.
I remember all the controversy when George received the liver on the NHS. He certainly lived the high life throughout his career and what a talent and pinup! So sad his life ended the way it did. RIP George 🙏 and thanks for the video! Paul and Lee 🤗 xxx
Just a small correction, George went private for his liver transplant at the Cromwell Hospital, London. The controversy was that he received a donated liver that could have gone to a patient on the NHS waiting list.
met george for the tony currie all stars match in 86, lots of big name stars there i was fortunate to get my programme signed by all,i also have a legal tender george best irish £5 note.a big name star but only small in stature.
what an absolute legend. by no means a perfect human being but what a footballer!! RIP George me old mate.
Great Video. Very interesting. Thank you.
Nice video paul great thanks 🎉
I don't know what to make of visiting graves. I'm a little 50/50 and personally think that should be left to close friends and family but like I say I'm not sure. Away from that George was brilliant and brought great pleasure to us mancunians. And many others throughout the world. Met him once in a bar in Blackpool. And he had time for everyone. Rip George and thanks for the memories.
I'm a life long leeds utd fan and i could only dream that he would sign for us cos hands down he was the best player on the planet ever R.i.p george simply the best ..great info about him paul and as usual very good video
Watching George best playing football gives you the same feeling you get when Rocky Balboa starts to come back in his fights and the music starts playing.
Welcome to Belfast.
I was at George's first game against west Brom with my dad aged 8 what a player the finest
I walked past him on Marlow high street a good looking man had an aura about him❤
Can't wait, Paul!
My father and his father were the same age and met in primary school together, going on to play snooker together in later life. His father was often calling for my Dad to go off out somewhere. I only met George once at the house in Cregagh just as he was leaving for Manchester United. RIP George, Dickie and my own Dad!
Watching him play was magic once he had the ball when tackled he always kept control of the ball and often scored my idol of the day👍
He is THE BEST ever footballer no one comes close, he plied his trade on rubbish pitches unlike the footballers of today.
Saw him playing at the city ground Nottingham when he played for Fulham alongside Rodney Marsh
Greatest footballer ever for me by a country mile.
Loved this Paul. Thanks
It poured of rain on the day of his funeral . From leaving the service held at Stormount Hall all the way to the Cemetery. He lived his life the way he wanted RIP George Best.
A man that live to the full greatest player in my youth always party to the full rip
Paul I think this is the best grave you’ve visited beautiful presented what a shame the demon drink a star on the pitch such a talent and a beautiful looking man stunning gravestone beautifully kept well done Paul ❤️❤️❤️❤️😊
I remember as a young kid , like all kids at that time , George Best was my hero. I remember watching the Benfica match on the families small black and white TV. When my mum passed away in 2019 , i was clearing out the garden shed and i came across a letter i had written , still sealed , to The George Best Fan Club , I was 12 at the time ( 1969 ). I opened it and written in my 12 year old spidery writing was a request for a George Best autograph. I don't know to this day why I never sent it , possibly because I never had the money for a stamp !
Absolute legend, the greatest forward I ever saw.
One of the best videos you have done Paul. Greatest player ever, shame he took the wrong road all those years ago. Loved watching him and it was an honour to see his final resting place tonight. Thank you.
