I loooove sitting on juries. I ended up in a 2.5 week trial where my company gave me full pay, I got to eat food at local sandwich shops, and I got to live out my Law & Order fantasy without needing law school!

I'm retired. I'd be happy to sit on a jury, for most cases. I did get called for a case I really didn't want not long ago, though. I was the first one kicked off by the plaintiff's attorney, to my relief. Long ago I sat on juries for a full month, when I was employed. I enjoyed it and took my responsibilities seriously.
As much as it’s our duty, idk how they can’t just pay the jurors minimum wage for hours worked bar deliberations. Just make it part of the cost to the guilty party 🤷🏻♀️

I twice sat on a jury thirty years ago. This was in the Province of Québec. Fortunately my employer paid the balance of my wages. The cases were interesting and so was the legal procedure. The food was very good and there was plenty of it. The hardest part was spending so much time with the same twelve people; some I found compatible, but some not.
I was just on a jury last week and I really enjoyed the experience! I think every American who is able to be unbiased and rely on the facts presented should do so at least once. It actually gave me MORE faith in our justice system.

I had to serve on a jury while I was a huge pillhead. I kept nodding off and shit and I was so scared I was going to get arrested for contempt or something. It was 1 day dui case and at the end of the day the judge said "ok you're free to go, you were just a alternate juror". I was like " oh thank god please get me outta here!!"

This is what my grandpa said ( started multiple family businesses and was a WWII vet):
Avoid court by following the law and its better to have a compromise between two parties than going to court ( because it will cost a lot)
Choose your lawyer carefully and make sure you have a professional in the law direction ( family, property and so on)
Whatever you do DO NOT MOUTH OFF to the judge or lawyers. They know the law, you don't and even if you do its best to avoid confrontations
Treat others like you yourself want to be treated... this goes inside and outside the courtroom.

The judge said he wouldn't rule yet on the May 17th graduation when he doesn't even know if the trial will still be going then. He did not attend any graduations of his other kids and there is no reason to believe he really wants to attend this one!

My sister got all the melanin in our family and looked like a full blood Native. She put on a ton of the jewelry she made and went to court and told them she hated all yt people and got permanently excused from jury duty.

We don't have a Jury System in Germany, but something called Schöffe. And they are layman Judges, mostly 2, that sit with a Professional Judge.
And they get their lost wages payed. Also if you go as a Witness, the State reimburses your employer for the lost pay, Which means you still get payed plus your travel expenses.
If you work for the federal government, you get paid for jury service less any money the court pays. However, civil servants are not desirable on juries for some more common crimes, and it's rare that anyone goes for more than the first day in my jurisdiction in my experience.
