    just a slight correction in international law: a plot or estate owned by a foreign state in another state is not a " Russian territory in the middle of England ", but just a territory which enjoys, out of courtesy from the receiving state, a series of privileges and immunity.e.g. authorities cannot raid it because of inviolability of its premises. if it were the real ownership of another state, it couldn't have been expropriated.

      @Booyaka9000 Před 11 dny +3

      No, they aren't. Bunker busters have a specific type of penetrating warhead. FAB 500/1500s are just relatively large bombs-- 500kg/1500kgs respectively. They'll still blow the F out of things they're dropped on, but they won't penetrate 10m-30m of Earth or reinforced concrete before detonating to destroy a bunker.

      A Canadian calling US content "international" is similar to a New Zealander calling Australian content "international". In both cases the cultures are partially integrated; as is right and natural. Russia and Ukraine have some good cultural exchange as well, but clearly it is mostly toxic. The key difference is choice and control. Culture is more regional than national; British Columbia has more in common with Washington State than Quebec.

      Destroying electricity power plants was declared a war crime, as it effects the civilians much more than the military. But then I heard it is a war crime to destroy the electric power plants. Commenting from St. George, Utah (but previously from Vermont). I'm very intrigued by the level of Russian influence in Britain. We don't see that here in America, but in America we see media (social and traditional) flooded by content which is designed to confuse or redirect people's attention. Right-wing media is largely in Putin's lap, and there is a strong undertone of pro-Russian bias amongst right-wing politicians (Moscow Marjorie, for example). A lot of attention has been paid to this problem.
    Left-wing media is also weird and getting weirder. I would like someone to explore the connections between the pro-Hamas leftists and Russian propaganda. Although small in number, this influence may be what tips the scales and puts Trump back in power. If just two or three percent of left-wing voters stay home or vote third party that will doom Biden's reelection and could by extension doom Ukraine. It is worth exploring.

      Let me offer a simile: the first wave of UK soldiers and officers were wiped out in WW1. Then they got serious and had to accept reality. Russia sent a message to the west which got ignored. Then they sent in troops to underline the message, reasonably expecting a negotiated deal given what various people including officials had said including Zelensky. Then the US blocked it and pushed for Ukrainian victory. The bandaristas put a gun to Zelensky's head. Russia got serious and here we are..

    As per Francis comments at 9:25 on Russian sourcing of Western components for servicing its Airbus and Boeing fleets- this is a short term issue. Russia already has fully Russian manufactured replacements for these aircraft: Irkut MC-21 and Sukhoi Superjet (SSJ) 100 narrowbody jets. Aeroflot group, incorporating Aeroflot and Russian Airlines, will be receiving 18 of the former and 34 of the latter in 2025. This is part of a larger scheme whereby Aeroflot group has ordered 210 Irkut MC-21-300s, 40 Tupolev Tu-214 narrowbodies, and 89 Irkut SSJ 100/95-NEW regional jets, a revised version of the Superjet 100.

Designing and producing commercial aircraft is a difficult task: doubly so if all the components are locally sourced. Considering the maiden flight of the non-substituted MC-21 was only in 2017, and Russia had to restructure its entire economy due to Western sanctions, the issue is a small one. It does not matter if it takes a decade for Russia to become one of the big 3 in commercial aircraft production. The course is clear: it will soon be self reliant in this sector.

    Ukraine’s armed forces have been actively using UK-supplied weapons for terrorist attacks against Russian regions, Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Second European Department Sergey Belyaev told TASS in an interview.
    He emphasized that Britain remains one of the largest military donors to the Kiev regime as it has been lobbying for weapons supplies to Kiev by other countries. "According to the English themselves, since 2022, London has already donated around 7.1 bln pounds for Ukraine’s defense purposes. At the same time, Ukrainian forces have been actively using British-supplied weapons to conduct terrorist attacks at civilian infrastructure and peaceful civilians in Donbass and other Russian regions," the diplomat said.
    According to Belyaev, the decision to send another 500 mln pounds ($617 mln) worth of military aid to Kiev announced by British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on April 23 comes as London is seeking to demonstrate its push to lead at NATO and in Europe. "The English acted in a similar manner when they moved to deliver Storm Shadow cruise missiles and Challenger II tanks to Ukraine," he explained.
