😂 The longest intro ever - nearly 8 minutes for soooooooo an easy produkt. 😂 I watched this video after watching your video from September 23th. It healed my sadness a little bit. I hope, you´ll come back to such a joy. Best wishes for you and your son Justin.
Love it all...Beautiful
Thank you Lori! 🤗
I always enjoy you Jean. Whether you are just "waffling" or teaching me something new. Thank you for coming into my home. You are a bright spot. Hi Maxwell!
I feel the same way. She is just so much fun. I'd love to sit and sew with her!
Jean, you are fabulous! Thank you so much for this tutorial. I love how you teach your lessons.😊❤️
Oh thank you so much:) I appreciate that;)
I love your teaching and I love the lace on your fabric shelves.....I’m gonna copy your clever great idea.
Thanks again
I had gotten a TON of old lace (scratchy stiff stuff) from a yard sale, not good for any worthwhile long lasting project, but PERFECT to edge my shelves with:) LIke more is never enough in my world!!! lOL!
Maxwell is so funny. Thanks for sharing and love these bags
Thanks Christine:)
God Bless Maxwell on his new advantage. I so glad you are teaching again. Love the bags.
THanks Linda;)
Thank you Jean for the inspiration and great tutorial! I have all the materials to do this, so I am going to start this evening!
Super! You have the iron on vinyl?!? That is great stuff:) You go Mary:)
What a great little bag, great gifts.
THanks Patricia;)
Thank you so much for sharing the bag.I can see where this bag is going to be very useful .I like the way you show step by step and the pattern thank you for sharing. Stay safe and God bless you.
Glad it was helpful Sheryl:)
I'm with brenda! I could listen to you all the time and wish I had a sewing buddy like you. I love up in the mountains which is great for social distancing, but not so much for socializing. Another great tutorial. Thank you. As always, beautiful job! Thank you. God bless. Hi Maxwell, love your cars btw! And your computer lights. My son builds his own computers also.
Aw you are a sweetie Judy! Thank you!:) My favorite place....Mountains!! You are blessed! And lucky to stay safe!!!
Yes absolutely Love it.
Thank you:)
This is so fun ! Thank you..
Glad you enjoyed it!
I want to make one of these with a placemat. Never knew about the fusible vinyl, so this will be much easier than the heavy duty vinyl I have used in the past. On to part 2👍
I too, was trying in vain to work with the heavier gauge vinyl...with little success and sore fingers!! This iron on stuff is the bomb!!! :) Thanks for watching Peggy:)
I made one bag out of a pioneer women placemat and I have made 30 cosmetic bags with the vinyl lining . The vinyl is so easy to iron on and cut out. Enjoyed your tutorial and love all of your bag tutorials. You are so good at what you do.
30!! YOU should have done the tutorial! Saved me the trouble!! LOL! Thanks Rowena:)
Hi Jean! Funny! Maxwell photobombing your tutorial! Totally going to make this Placemat Bag! Thanks for this tutorial!
I seriously had NO IDEA he snuck up behind me until I was editing the film!! LOL! I just thought he had walked through my room and out again!! Dear Maxwell! :)
You are a genius! Love your ideas!
Thank you! 😊
Love your tutorials!
Thank you Carol:)
I’m sew happy you are back. Great to see you again. Omg. Maxwell is a hoot. Thanks for sharing. ❤️
Thank you! 😊
Great tutorial!
Thank you:)
Hello, Wow! Your Walmart has some very pretty placemats 😁 & this bag is a brilliant idea to make out of one 💕 thank you 😁 Erica x
Thank you! 😊Erica! It does have a nice selection:)
Hi Jean. Lovely to see you
Hey Jed! Lovely being seen:)
Love listening to the birds singing.
We have some beautiful song birds right out on the deck in a tree (that the deck is built around!) and they are just lovely to listen to:)
Welcome back it's so good to see you😀
Thank you Mary:)
I love it!
Thank you Rhonda:)
I have used the fusible vinyl several times and it is fantastic. Don’t know what took someone that long to discover that! 😂
Isn't it just wonderful stuff Ann???
Super video Jean, loved the photo bomb by Maxwell. 😂 A good thing.
LOL! I had NO clue he was behind me!!! :)
Jean. I am so looking forward to completing this. I would be interested as well in small one
You can cut down the pattern the same size all around to make a smaller one!:) Or size up to make it larger:)
Nice Job
Hi Jean, this is so cute! And I can think of a million uses for it! Thanks for showing us how to do it with fat qtr if we don’t have the placemats on hand.
I didn’t get notified of these two videos this time. I always have before. Watching in the middle of the night because I can’t sleep, and was surprised. I saw a pretty project and squinted to see who made it, and it was you!
It’s been many years since I’ve used iron on vinyl so I guess they’ve changed the application process. Before, they had you iron it on first, then remove the paper backing after; that way there was no chance of getting the vinyl melted on your iron. I used it on the outside of checkbook covers, over pretty calico, so that it could be wiped clean and also was more sturdy than without. Lasted a long time. And was much prettier than the ugly-ish ones you get from the bank, lol.
I think your bags would make great gifts and also will be nice for small crochet, knitting, or cross stitch projects. I can’t wait to try this! I’ve sort of lost my mojo/sewjo too. I’ve been facing down many problems and it just makes you feel blucky! 😬 (Thats a word. If not, I just made it up, lol!)
Blucky = Blue + yucky!!! 😂
I hope your Blucky day has gotten a bit better! Mine started out yuck and blue, but DID improve as the day went on! :)
Какие улыбчивые и обаятельные люди!
Aw thank you! For saying we are 'smiling and charming people! LOL! Thank you Google Translate:) LOL!
You are back!
Yes, that I am:) No great projects, just little ones, but I'll just let my fingers do the walking:)
@@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory It is the little projects that I have most enjoyed during quarantine. I want it done!
Wow never knew you get that kind of vinal, to iron on. Won’t get this here. I am going to try something els. Maybe the ones that is sticky , thy use it to cover book or surfaces. 🤷🏼♀️ going to try though. You are so much like me. I always change things and do it as I go . And make mistakes, but the second one is always better and better. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️🌹🌹🌹
I had never used THIS vinyl either! It is great stuff;)
Thank you for the lovely pattern, would be great to be able to get these placemats in Australia
You’re welcome 😊 Shame you can't get them........but you CAN use regular fabrics:)
I have four daughters and four granddaughters that will love these. Guess what I’m making them for Christmas???
They will love them!! Thanks for watching Kelly:)
Thank you for all your hard work in preparing to make these videos. You always come up with great ideas. . I went back to look at how to make the pattern, thinking that I made a mistake but I did not. I think I would like the cosmetic bag better if it was made with zipper tabs. Could you make a short video showing how to do that?
Thank you Linda! I will put that on my list:)
You honestly looking georges today..... I think you lost weight.... just take care and don't ever leave us..... I'm so glad you're back
Aw thanks Brigitte! It must be the camera angle....I'm the heaviest I've ever been!! Oh Well! More important things to worry about! Hope you and yours are coping well enough in these stressful times! Sending safe hugs:)
I told her I thought she lost weight also
As I was watching yo make this bag, I noticed that it looked like your iron would almost fit inside. Maybe it would need to be slightly larger? But I have the Oliso mini iron, which is not all that mini, but is definitely smaller. Anyway, I was thinking that if we lined it with that padded silver fabric used for ironing boards and potholders, then it would make a great travel pouch for our irons. I have been wanting to make one of those for awhile now, and your pouch looks like the right shape! And, if we EVER get to travel again, it would be great for taking to quilt classes and traveling. I never use a hotel iron anymore, because once I did, for a new blouse to wear to the convention and dirty water came out and stained my new blouse! I had to hurry up and wash out the stain and dry it with the blow dryer and it was more wrinkly that it started out! So now I take my own iron!
After I read this, I got out my bag and tried my LARGE iron. IT was a bit small for my big iron, but if I make it slightly larger with the silver padded stuff, it would work great ~ with attached handles on it! THanks for the idea:)
Love your videos, they make me so happy! I’m just starting to quilt! I’m wondering why don’t you monetise your videos? You work so hard and could be earning that fabric $$$ back for more lol!
I do! Thanks for watching me:)
💕💕💕💕
Love ur videos. Could u put bias tape over the raw edges?
Absolutely you could:)
@@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory thank you ❤
Hello Jean. I've been watching you for a while now and love your work. Do you ever use zippers by the yard? I never seem to be able to find the right size or quantity of the pre sized ones. Again love your videos. Karin
I actually have never used them....but might one day soon:)
Hi Maxwell, I saw you!
LOL! I DIDN'T!!! I just saw him 'leaving' but not until I was editing the film, did I actually see he photobombed me!!! :)
Hi. What type of fusible vinyl do you us
Hi Jean, I loved your video! What it's the batting that you use? Could you indicate please? Thank you!
This video is using a pre purchased quilted placemat. I don't know quite what you mean. I prefer 100% cotton batting, such as Warm and Natural or even an 80/20 poly/cotton such as Quilters Dream
@@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory sorry if I was not clear I was wondering about the brand. I understand that is fusible, but I doubt know which one to buy thanks!
I mean the batting that you used. Not the vinyl.
@@mariaalicelopes435 Still don't understand....it's not the vinyl that I'm saying....100% cotton batting or 80/20 batting is the soft fluffy stuff! Not vinyl:)
@@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory thank you so much for your patience sorry to bother you in a Sunday. I found this on internet: is something like this that you use? I've never used this before. Again, thank you!

Jean, is part 2 supposed to be right after part 1? The hexagonal table topper comes up right after part 1.
I'm not quite sure what device you are viewing on, however, I put up Part 2 immediately after Part 1, so should be in order. On my end, what I am seeing, is just that. Sorry about that! Part 2 IS up!
Jean what size needle do you suggest ?
I used a Jeans Denim needle (size 16)
I wish I had extra cash I’d be your patreon subscriber.
No worries! Just thank you for taking time to watch :)
Where did you get the flower decals on your sewing machine?
They are rub on decals called Floral Tattoos and you get them from urbanelementz.com
Thank you.
Ha the pattern looks like a mushroom so I save this tutorial under the label..Jean's mushroom bag!!! :)
LOL! Hey, if it works!! :)
Jean, I was saying over and over to myself, "Jean, I know you are flustered, but you have good scrap sections of the vinyl where you cut out the corners. Just use some of that on the sections that don't have enough."
Ps last time I bought the fusible vinyl at Wal-Mart, it was only $1.25 a yd! Fyi
WHA?!?! I must go and get some more!!! Thank you:)
Thank you. I was wondering since I didn’t see a link in the description box. Jewels 💎
Yes it is very difficult to be left handed!
I would imagine so Miriam!
Have you ever quilted leather?
I haven't, no, but would like to try one day:)
I’m waiting patiently! I’m trying to learn and you make everything look so easy! 🥰
That was the cheapest I could find it online. About$3 yd
Good price:)
I would thinknit would be easier to lay the vinyl down not cut into the shape over the material even though cut, iron it on, then cut it after ironed.
You most probably are correct!! I did make a big song and dance about it! LOL! Thanks Ursula:)
@@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory I've never used the vinyl, I'd like to try making this. I'm sort of a novice at sewing so I'm trying a lot of new things since all this covid stuff. Keeping busy, building a collection of fabric. Haha
I wanted to see your measurements and tutorial, but it took you 8 minutes to get started! I love your sewing room and projects, just try to get to the point a little sooner!`
The people who watch me faithfully understand and like the fact that I talk a lot. I actually put in my description of each video that I waffle on and some HATE that!! LOL! So you may want to look elsewhere at videos where they get immediately to the point! But my fans will attest to the fact that "I get there in the end:"!!! LOL!
I would like to see a small handle purse like a vera Bradley dup
Will put it on my list Peggy:)
Thank you love watching your videos
