Nice project you’ve come up with, I can see teenage girls, young mothers loving a bag like this. Thanks for sharing another great idea. 👍❤️😊
You are right! An easy, slouchy practical pretty bag:) Thanks Carmen:)
I wd love to make a few of these bags for a local charity and fill them up with baby ‘stuff’ for mums to use as their hospital bags. I knit LOADS o newborn cardi’s so making a bag like this wd be very lovely. Yes, can’t wait to start my first one….. and…. I have a lovely pattern for the cutest little bear made out of cotton fabric🤩. A bear to match the bag wd be fab….. Jean, thanks for the inspiration😘.
What a nice thing to do. Well done.
That's so thoughtful! What a nice gift that would be:) Thanks Christine:)

Adore your 'wooded sewing room' Jean. You're wonderful at going through the introduction and the process of creating the bag - I love those chats. Tutorial was terrific also - the bags are awesome :-)
Aw thanks Summer:) Love being out doors:)
love that bag! and BTW.. you look beautifull!!! xxxx
You're the best Suzy! :) I do clean up occasionally!! LOL!
I made this bag years ago so it is quite large and quite fabulous. Not too large for the beach. It opens up FLAT so no digging around, a big plus. Thanks Jean for the hints. I will make the smaller bag and add snaps. You quilters-this bag is almost a must if you travel with large quilt projects. Oh yes, it holds everything. I did add pockets to the lining. A GREAT BAG. Thanks Jean
Thanks for sharing Mardie:) I appreciate that;)
Just so beautiful. Thank you Jean. Stay safe. Hugs
Thank you! You too Ginette:)

Good morning from Wales Jean. I am really liking this bag and a girl can never have too many bags! The fabric choice was lovely, I’ll have to check my stash and see what I can find. I’m trying to use up my odd bits at the moment so small projects are great. Love to the Trueloves from 🏴
These really are super bags, I must admit!! LOL! Thanks Margaret:)

They desirable. Beach bag for towel and costume and Hippy Chic
Thanks Jed:)
This is such a nifty idea! You could bust some scraps in a hurry with this bag! Thank you for the tutorial!
A REAL scrap buster!!! :) Thanks Jonathan:)
Hi Jean! I have this Fat Quarter Bag pattern & years ago I made myself one with "quilt shop" quality fabric (6 fat quarters). I struggled with the elastic part, so when I made a friend one (with lesser priced fabric :), I sewed a few pleats in that area & bought one of those button makers of sorts. You cover the metal forms with your fabric & pop the other part into itself (do you understand what I mean?? haha) & put that there just for decoration. That bag has tagged along with me to numerous quilt retreats & can hold ALOT!! I LOVE it!! And as far as you using the back of the fabric-years ago someone told me "you pay for both sides of the fabric, use both sides!!!" That is so true-I took a Crazy quilt class long ago & didn't like how dark the green leaf fabric was that I was using, so I turned it over!!
It seemed a VERY big bag!! But you are right ~ holds lots of goodies:) Thanks Marla:)
So pretty. Once again you have come up trumps for your CZcams followers. Thank you Jean. Love to Ian and Maxwell. Love your woods by the way. Xx
Thank you so much Anita:) I'll give your regards to my men:)

What a darling bag! Thanks so much, Jean! 💗💗💗
You are most welcome Dusty:)
Hi Jean. I love your fabrics for your bags. The popper gadget is brilliant. Take care Jean, see you soon xxx
I've had this popper/kam snap thing forever, but never used it! But they do work - just have to be careful the fabric is not too thick, or else they won't secure. Thanks Annie:) Keep safe:)
love it
Thank you Jennie!! Very much:)
I LOVE THE PINK ONE!!! Very nice! I could carry my new puppy (Sweet Pea🎀) in there😊

Good morning Jean. Hope this finds you well and cool. Love this BOHO bag. Looks so simple to make. I can't wait to make me a few. Everyone tells me that BOHO is my style. These would be great as gifts and I think great sellers at a craft fair. You always have the most interesting projects. Have a great weekend. Tell Ian, Maxwell, and our Jen hi and love from the Ferrari's to the Truelove's.
If BOHO is your jam, then THIS is the bag for you!! LOL! Thanks Nicole:)

Glad you liked it Kaylene:) Thanks so much:)
I teach Hawaiian quilting. This design is from a very old possibly McCall pattern. We've been making these bags since 1976. We take 2 pieces of 1 1/4 yds of two different fabrics ( 1 1/2 yds for a bigger bag) right sides together sew seam down long sides, turn right side out, sew down same sides to make casing. 13" of 3/4" elastic using safety pin, run through casing attaching 6" in from ends. Wrapping short sides over to make casing for straps. Thread straps through (some students used braided fabric for their straps. Takes about 1 hour to make the bag. We carried our queen size quilts and sewing box to class in these bags. When not working on quilt you hang the bag on a doorknob. Some students used bags for laundry, and for beach (beach chair would fit in large bag). We made them out of Hawaiian fabrics, Samoan fabrics, etc. They are reversible. They last forever. Hope you have speedy recovery from flooding.😄
Great tutorial Jean. 🕊
Glad you liked it Barbara:) thanks:)
When my daughter was 11 she took a summer class at a local quilt shop and they made M'liss' original bag pattern. That bag was so huge, she actually fit inside it! LOL 😂
Miss your tune from the older videos. Love your woodsy sewing room and your cute bag. PS don't know why my comments show up with hubs name. Love your tutorials, Pat McCoy
Oh thank you Pat! I'm experimenting with different music ~ Maxwell REALLY didn't like my old music!! LOL! LOL!
Just discovered your lovely channel, I’ll definitely have to make this gorgeous bag.
I was going to ask you if you were English by birth as I detected a slight accent, then read your ‘about’ section and discovered that you’re married to an Englishman ! I’m from Essex, I’ve been to the USA several times and love it.
Aw thanks for finding me and taking time to watch Tracy:) Yes, my husband is from London...we lived in Edmonton for about 18 months and thenNorwich for about 7 years. We lived in a little village called Brooke.....loved it. But having such a LARGE family it was more practical to move back to the USA. everyTHING IS bigger!!! iNCLUDING me:)
Thank you for your tutorial . I love the fabrics you chose. The bag is beautiful. You do a wonderful job explaining everything. I also love the rose on your sewing machine. Is the rose a decal?
Thank you so much Carol! They are rub on decals called Floral Tattoos and you get them from : www.urbanelementz.com
Do you have a link to the original pattern? Love your bags!

@@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory thanks sweetie 💝
I adore this project....pretty yet practical. I have a suggestion for a future project IF you are interested. It would be for a simple bag with pockets etc. to attach to a walker. I have so many friends who have to use the metal walkers who need a place to carry a drink, newspaper, etc. Have you made any such projects previously?
Great idea Karen! I will most certainly put that on my list!! :) Thank you:)
That bag , the first one you could carry a little dog. It also looks reversable.
EXCELLENT idea Dianne!! I've just updated my 'tags' with that idea:) Thank you:)
What? This is confusing. I don't understand about the casing. It went too fast. I'm not an experienced seamstress.
I fast forwarded the part of the casing (which is the spacing sewn on either side for the elastic to be inserted through), because I am just stitching straight stitches end to end. If you slow your video through the speeded up section (rewind and play) you will see it is just a straight stitch to make the casings.
