@@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory My Mother sewed. She made my school clothes as a kid and she made some beautiful quilts. Unfortunately I never picked up the skill. Sewing on a button makes me nervous but I love to watch your videos and your personality is absolutely addictive. Now the thing about zippers. My Mom struggled so with zippers. I'm not sure why but it was always difficult for her. And (sometimes she'd cuss ! ) lol
So funny! I had the opposite...my mother was VERY nervous sewing on a button!! LOL! It was I who learned to sew when I was about 11(I thank my Home Ec class and teacher) and made HER so many clothes for many years!!! LOL!
How fun!!! Love it🤩
Thank you 🤗Shelley:)
Making one of these to put my makeup in, with the brush holder bag. gave me a great travel cases.

Glad you like them Jo:) Thank you:)
Love this bag! Thank you for sharing! BTW if you had turned the bag piece lengthwise on the vinyl, it would have fit, you had it crosswise....which was too short.
YOU are so right!! LOL! Why weren't you here in my sewing room!!!/?! LOL! Thanks Diana:)

💖
Oh goodness, I hit the dislike button accidentally. So sorry. I LOVE your videos. Have learned so much from you. Thank you Jean
Thanks so much Sandy:)
Hi there, I LOVE your videos. Just a little suggestion? You said in the end, I didn't like where the zipper went all the way down? Maybe you can just sew it across a little higher up? So it stops before you get to the end? Just a thought, I am not sure if it will work or not, but that's what popped into my head haha. TY TY, I just found you and have made one bag already (the drawstring bag) I used it for all my Walmart bags haha it was PERFECT! I am looking forward to watching more tomorrow :) Ill be making this in the morning :)
Thanks Teresa! I have made others after this and put a fabric zipper tab on the beginning and ending of the zipper, so that the zipper now is about an inch and a half above the bottom of the bag on both sides. Thanks for taking time to watch me:)
I can't wait to try one of these. Maybe this is what I need to get myself back in the hat sewing mood again! What brand of fusible batting do you use? I have never used any and would like to give it a try. All your bags and weekender bags are beautiful. Thank you for the step by step tutorial. Have a wonderful weekend.
I used the HeatnBond Iron On vinyl and the fusible batting is Pellon Fusible batting from Joanns. Thanks so much!
I love this bag! I’m off to get the long zipper and I ordered the vinyl from Amazon. Thank you! The vinyl would be great for swimwear bags or baby bags too....
Awesome! Thank you Gail! I got mine from Amazon also:)
Hi Jean, I love the bag. I wanted to know how/if you could make the sides (zipper) higher so it did not open up as wide?
Yes I can ~ that will be in a future tutorial!
Jean do you think using Bias tape around the whole pattern before constructing it would work to cover any exposed seams. These are great bags I am going to make some and put pampering thing into them and give them as gifts. Thank you Jean stay safe.
Yes you can! However you would have to push away the tape in order to attach the zipper....hmmmmmmm. perhaps understitching the tape first?!?!? I'm not sure about it.....
I bought the iron on vinyl. Ideas for where you purchase your long zippers.
I get lots on Amazon, but recently found some long ones at Hobby Lobby also.
I’m trying to locate the vinyl. I tried Walmart -they didn’t have it. I’m gonna go to Joann’s and hobby lobby tomorrow.
If you don't mind shopping online (Amazon), I know they have it.
Jean Truelove I found it at hobby lobby! And yes I do shop online!😀
I really like this bag is there anyway you can provide a pattern of this bag?
No written pattern....my video tutorial IS the pattern
How could you add a handle to this bag?
I could see two small handles sewn one on each side on the top near the zipper. Do you know how to put handles on a bag? You configure them facing 'down' as it were, stitch on each end, then as they are in the right way UP, they are comfortable to use. Hopefully that made a bit of sense:)
@@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory Yes i believe I can :) thanks
Do not use a hidden zipper, I had to cut back on the inside so the zipper could work. A reg zipper works better, gives you more space to sew down.
