And then not understand why Romania did not pass and why the performer herself ruined the song so... Well done, well done, TVR.

@@nialldean9791 a bit of both I think. Juries might try to compensate a little because Malta lacks a voting block. However even with that they still overestimate. Serbia got 82 points this year in the televote. 36 of those was because of block voting. Malta just cant compete there.
Because we also used to send much better stuff, 2018 was really weak (I was surprised it won the national selection), 2019 the audience barely had a say in it, Laura Bretan was robbed, and 2021 we all know what happened

Because they used to bring a JOY. When they started to bring ballads this non-qualifying streak happened In 2019 it was like 13% televoting in the national final, so they're really coming in a wrong direction
If the fandom is very limited, then all they can do is cry. Because not everyone is able to go out of the country just to vote for their favourite singer. It's different if the fandom is big though. Take t.A.T.u. for example. They had a huge fan base already so they took the 3rd place 2003 even though their live entry wasn't exactly brilliant. They were only 3 points behind the winner with 164 points. They even got 10 points from countries like UK or Germany who usually don't vote for Russia. Take Blue. The public gave them 208 points or sth (jury downrated them greatly so the final result wasn't as great). Take Bilan. He made a big fan base in 2006 (especially among the younger females) when he lost to only Lordi. So 2008 he took the win unanimously even though there were far better entries that year. And there were two other renown guys in his entry. That's all that comes to mind impromptu. Probably there are more. What I wanted to say is: having a solid fan base in your own country doesn't guarantee many voters.
Roxen was a queen but I have to agree that her performance of Amnesia was not final-worthy. Hopefully she is coming back in the next years and performes once more 🙏

As for the big 5 + Netherlands they don’t matter, we get our place in the final because we fund the contest, and so she shouldn’t compare herself to us. She simply didn’t deserve it. And it does matter that the song was boring, she couldn’t sing and the staging was awful, that’s the whole point of the show, it’s not a contests of who’s cult is the most extreme.
That's exactly what I have concluded after all this years. People don't forgive a bit. And this is expected because they only judge from their couches a 3 minute act and nothing more totally disregarding the song since they are not familiar with it. That's why free televoting isn't necessary a good thing for the contest.
Yeah it's weird but it sorta happened. Azerbaijan and Norway were juries' NQ but the televote saved them, whereas Belgium was televote's NQ saved by the juries. 7 solid finalists + 3 jury/tele specific finalists gives 10 countries above Croatia.
Because the 15th place of the jury May be the 1st place of the televote, giving them a place in the Final TOP 10, Croatia beeing 9th and 10th made their final score lower than 10 other countries because jury and televote had different TOP 10 and different placements
Before 2016 you needed to do well in the combined ranking of a country to receive points. You could technically be 1st in jury and last in televote in half the countries and 1st in televote and last in jury in the other half and that would give you 0 points.

Again, the jury is mostly right. Makes sense, because several countries just get 12 points for free (like cyprus for example). So a jury who balances that out is important.

They counted 50/50 on both jury and public. Croatia didn't reveceive enough points to get to the top 10 therefore they failed to make it

The weirdest thing is that a lot of these entries are considered to be UNDERRATED by the fandom, who eventually did not vote for them
