Animal abuse is a big NO NO for me
Me too.
Thus why I won’t watch Cannibal Holocaust again. (Though I’m tempted by the cruelty-free version . . .)
Hopefully you are vegan
Same! Does the dog die . Com is very helpful, sometimes if I check it out ahead of time and I know something is coming and I can quickly skip the scene i get to watch the rest of the movie, like talk to me I skipped a scene that happens near the beginning, and I knew that the dog they showed would be okay so all good.
Me too 😢
Horror genre has so much gatekeeping. Can you imagine if other genres had it? "Oh, you didn't see the Notebook? You obviously aren't a real romance fan"
I’m sure every genre has their gatekeepers
@@kman20yeah but some are definitely worse than others
"I'm sorry. You don't know who Meg Ryan is? And you say you like romcoms."
@@kman20yeah but horror is one of the worse ones imo.

As a mom and a woman, I simply cannot watch any form of SA in horror or any form of child abuse. It breaks my heart so I avoid it at all costs
Same, I have 2 kids and anything remotely child related I'm like nooo thank you but as a victim of sa I can weirdly remove myself from that sort of stuff in films 🤷🏻♀️
@@bexxycat2890 it’s weird cuz I’ve never been SA’d but watching it bothers me 🤷🏻♀️ I’ve seen a couple scenes but nothing too bad
Same. If I know a movie has either of those things, it immediately goes on my Will Not Watch List.
Same, also it's too common irl and too overdone in the genre.
Same
There is something extra creepy about guys telling girls they should watch sa horror movies. I hate that stuff myself, top 3 things I don't wanna see in movies.
Yeah it’s kind of a red flag tbh
Seriously
I wholly agree. I'm a woman and actually am not that opposed to watching films with sa, but I understand why thats a boundary for a lot, and don't think that's a boundary that should never be pushed. Sa isn't easy to watch, i don't think anyone should have to. It's such a red flag to me when people insist that you "should just try watching it", you don't have to
kind of......?@@iamjackspyramidshapedhelmet
@@AM-hr5mwive had people try to insist it on me even AFTER i explain i have ptsd from an experience of sa (specifically abuse) and it just baffles me. Like im not watching the damn movie
It was interesting to me, as a woman who experienced SA as a child, I found older movies like I Spit on Your Grave and The Last House on the Left to be fascinating pieces of fiction when I watched them (as an older teenager and young adult who was beginning to process that trauma). The pure, amplified horror of them was almost cathartic, and in some way validated the deeply etched pain I was feeling at the time in a contained, fiction-based zone. (What I considered "safe" at the time, but I understand now that art is never safe.) I've not rewatched any of them in probably 6 or 7 years, and I definitely watched the Hills Have Eyes remake too young, I wasn't ready to approach it and I struggled with it at that point.
Basically: there is value to RxR movies, fictional compartmentalization is valid, but they're absolutely not for everyone in every stage of life, and I don't encourage viewing of them for people who are not prepared for the consequences of it. What we view can and does have an impact, art is designed down to the letter to do so, in positive, negative, and neutral ways.
Im so sorry you had to go through all of that. I just wanted to comment and say that you have a very impressive way of articulating such complex emotions.
i've had the same experience, sadly, and although it did help me with my proccess, i've never recommend it to other survivors since it's such a personal journey for every one. hope you are doing well.
I’m sorry you had to experience that. I am the exact same. I, too, had been SA’d throughout my younger years and for some reason horror movies that include or imply those actions seem to make me feel like I’m not alone.
It is a scary thing, you’re allowed to feel scared and disgusted. But you’re also allowed to talk about it and be aware. I remember not being able to talk about what I’ve been through and horror movies actually helped.
I just wanted to say - you are not alone in feeling this way. I am a SA survivor as well and watching horror movies that included that content (especially the ones you mentioned) as a teen were movies I watched despite bring warned that the content might be triggering/upsetting but that was OK, and for whatever reason was really helpful/kind of cathartic and helped me to process my emotions about what had happened in a way.
I left the room during both of those movies. That was more than a decade ago and briefly seeing the awful scenes I saw before I walked out still haunts me.
Animal abuse = hard pass for me regardless of genre.
Hopefully you are vegan

if you aren't aware of it already, i recommend the website 'does the dog die'. It basically tells you if any kind of trigger is present in movies - like animals dying or being abused (if its not mentioned in the summary) so that you can avoid them.
I'm a male horror fan that's been through things like SA and abuse as a child, and I somehow ended up as a "no boundaries" fan; I actually like seeing how extreme directors are willing to go. That being said, I'm fully aware that, more often than not, many movies I've seen would be horrible for those who went through what I did. To each their own, and I wouldn't force anyone to watch something they don't want to.
I've noticed that there is almost like an "all or nothing" when if comes to abuse survivors and horror (results may vary). For me I can't watch graphic SA scenes, a crapload of blood and guts, but I can handle watching (FICTIONAL) kids being in peril. Some others are able to stomach it for some reason. The brain is truly a fascinating thing when it comes to trauma.
As a male horror fanatic I too cannot watch movies with SA or animal abuse. I'm out.
Cool, dude
Yeah I’m not too fond of animal abuse in horror, movies . But when someone’s head blows off, I’m all about that.
It's all just shock value that adds nothing but disgust to the plot so totally understandable
@@michete I mean.... sometimes it's relevant to the plot
@SY-nq3qp it can but having a vivid scene depicting something like SA or animal abuse Is unnecessary. It can be easily alluded to, and if someone can skip the scene and still get the movie plot, then it can be taken out for sure
"Thats not how i want to be horrified." That's the most epic sentence i think ive heard all year.
I’m a male and I hate SA in my horror movies. The Hills Have Eyes remake really scarred me. It’s a different type of horror that I’m into.
Soy boy
@robin-hr7tc You’re connecting the enjoyment of watching women in pain to masculinity? Interesting self report.
I’m a male horror fan and I completely understand the mockery some horror fans get for not wanting to watch certain horror movies. I’ve been told that many times. A friend said I was being sensitive and I thought I was but I came to realize I don’t have to watch anything I don’t want to. I stand by you. ✊
What I loved about The Strange Thing About The Johnson's is that its not your typical story where the abuser is who you'd expect it to be. It's a story of how even the ones that you think are victims are the ones commiting the most disturbing acts.
I agree with this wholeheartedly. As an artistic choice, it makes it more shocking and asks fascinating moral questions of the viewer, something that Aster has only gotten better at over the years (or perhaps more subtly).
Out of all of these I’ve only seen “A Strange Thing About the Johnsons” and it’s one of the most disturbing things I’ve ever seen. The scenes of incest are incredibly implied but that doesn’t negate from how traumatizing that short is. Good on you for having the boundary to say “no I’m not watching that” because I regret watching that short back in the day all the time.
Yea that was a one and done for me… I was like this 😧 the whole time
I've seen clips of it through other CZcamsrs discussing and walking through it. This shirt film makes me like deeply uncomfortable, I have a very strong negative reaction to it so much so that I don't like seeing the poster for it. Because I'm just immediately reminded of the SA in it. "That's not how I want to be horrified" is the perfect way to describe that for me
The whole point of Ari Aster's short film was to illustrate that anyone can be a victim of abuse, no matter how outlandish it is. It didn't feel like it was trying to be "edgy" at all to me.
Would you argue that abuse needs to be seen in explicit detail for creators to show that message?
@@austinm8334 Well that's a leading question. I wouldn't argue a movie "needs to" just like I wouldn't argue that a movie "doesn't need to", either.
@@austinm8334 It's not shown in explicit detail in the movie. If it was, it would not be on youtube...
The thing i remember most about the movie is the father bawling out in the bathroom and the mother ignoring it. Chills...
i just watched it and it completely subverted my expectations!
Thank you for continuing to push the notion that it’s okay to have your limits with horror. You don’t need to disturbed or traumatized out of your mind by a movie just because say you need to watch it to be a “true horror fan.” I certainly feel good enough as a horror fan by saying I like the Child’s Play franchise and am comfortable continuing to watch that level of kinda goofy but still frightening at times horror. Looking forward to your next video!
i can confirm the strange thing about the johnsons is absolutely horrifying. the scenes are very implicit but still have such a terrifying impact. literally anytime that movie is mentioned my mood goes down 😭
i love using Does the Dog Die, especially when people give timestamps. i am ALL for looking away or skipping forward when you need to. and of course just not watching things you don't like!
People who update DDD are literal saints
I totally understand where you’re coming from! I can’t watch any home invasion movie, having been through a home invasion myself, it freaks me out way too badly. Don’t let anyone make you feel bad for taking care of yourself!
I have to be in a very special mood to watch those movies, is just to real and a possibility
and then theres always those people saying "that movie wasnt that bad...." like 😭
Those people are snobs. I personally say "I didn't think that movie was that gory/scary/etc to me." Everyone's scare and gore threshold is different so I try not undermine people's feelings about that stuff.
@@Bree_999right, i commented on another video saying i watched hereditary and it didn’t disturb _me_ as much bc i can usually handle that sort of thing for the most part, and someone came at me explaining how and why the movie was so disturbing and this and that and i think they were just mad but i was just like ?¿ help?? i didn’t say it wasn’t disturbing, i said it didn’t disturb *me* as much
They’re usually edgy 13 year olds who probably haven’t even seen it lol
Well personally I almost always come out of these types of films thinking "okay then, that wasn't that bad"
I'm never really phased by anything as long as it's not real. If it's actors and special effects then I couldn't care less how extreme it is.
But yeah when people like me who aren't sensitive to things like that try to tell other people that they shouldn't be disturbed by anything? then it's just pathetic.
But I think it goes both ways though, if someone like me who isn't bothered by stuff judging others for being bothered is bad (which it is, and dense) I think it's also just as bad for more sensitive people to shame people for not being bothered by things, one way or the other it's dense and immature.
UNLESS the subject matter we're talking about is anything real where people were actually harmed, THEN the people who aren't bothered are sick and need help. And should probably have monitored Internet access.
It depends, right? I definitely said that about the Hills Have Eyes. Sarah has seen the remake which is worse, plus just the era and tone of the original is much sillier, especially for a modern audience. It's like someone who has seen the original Texas Chainsaw and is worried about watching the original Nightmare on Elm St. You wouldn't say, "It's not that bad."?
I think some people take it personally when you refuse to watch certain movies because it makes them feel like there's something wrong with them for finding value in those movies, but if you like extreme things you shouldn't be surprised that some people aren't into it.
Mm, not really. They're just movies and not reality. I used to get all freaked out about stuff in movies when I was very young. Through repeated exposure, nothing really bothers me. If you don't want to experience all there is out there in the movie world, then that's on you. But there's nothing wrong with extreme art or people that enjoy it just because you can't personally imagine watching any of it. Maybe the person is not offended that you refuse, and it's more so a projection of your own insecurity, like this video for instance.
@@djdepressionit’s not that deep🤣🤣. If you think rape scenes and pedophelia is “art” then you need help lol.

Spookyrice is so kind. He’s a great example of how horror can attract people who are empaths.

So proud of you for continuing to take yo stand and incourage people to like what they like I love horror as well and favorite genre of movies but even I have my limit 😂
Congratulations on 250k!! I really appreciate you making this video and bringing up this topic. I love horror movies but still have to check Does The Dog Die before I watch one I haven’t seen before. I don’t want a movie to trigger an anxiety or panic attack. Yes, that sometimes makes me feel like an imposter in this community😅 But I believe that our own personal limits should be respected, especially by ourselves!
I think that it is crazy that still in 2023 we have people who claim that you are not a true fan of something if you don’t like every single part of it.
Knowing your boundaries and not being afraid to share and admit them just makes you stronger and more badass!
Thank you for making these videos. In some spheres on the internet it feels as though you can not call yourself a horror fan unless you only like movies from the 70s and earlier and compare every single horror movie to The Exorcist and think modern cinema is trash. I wish we could just watch what we like in peace.
I really love movies from the 70s, but gatekeeping anything is dumb beyond belief. I also find it ironic whenever people critique something modern and saw it's trash and it was better x number of years ago, because that's what people back then said about movies that are old classics now!
Deep appreciation for this video and addressing the topic. I love horror, but the amount of gatekeeping I've encountered on the internet really turns me off. I don't watch horror because I want membership in some club; I watch it because I find it cathartic and empowering. I like being scared but I don't want to be traumatized. My preferred fare includes slashers and supernatural horror, and I've often been dismissed as a "casual" fan or not hardcore enough. I don't need to see viscera to experience horror. There's a difference between scared and being appalled. Thanks for encouraging and furthering discussion on this, as well as hitting 250K. Well-deserved and earned!
Hobbies are clubs whether you like it or not. Those clubs will be segmented off, but not everyone is going to like all the things in their hobby and that's why they are segmented.
@@lainiwakura1776 Nope. I have hobbies I converse with no one about, wtf are you even talking about? I'm not a joiner and I don't need the approval of others to enjoy anything, let alone join some "club".
I’m a 33 year old man, and coincidentally, I watched I spit on your grave (original) a couple of months ago. One of my favorite genres in all of film is revenge. It’s definitely disturbing even though it’s nearing 50 years old and a little, dare I say, goofy, at points. There’s absolutely no reason why anyone “has” to watch it. There’s plenty of horror movies I haven’t seen and I’d consider myself an average horror fan. I know it’s for entertainment and we suspend our disbelief, but watching anything where people die or get assaulted is rough because it happens in the real world.
Not every filmmaker that handles these topics are equipped to handle them or have the best intentions. For me, its a case by case basis and it depends on the POV (and how much of it is shown like you distinguished). It is definitely difficult to watch these themes in horror because there is a lot of exploitation in the genre. I draw the line at child actors and actual animals being involved. I find the psyche fascinating and that's what would convince me to watch these themes if it was a character exploration (like that serial killer movie Henry).
wowow perfect timing since i just talked about u on a discussion board for class praising how much u advocate for having boundaries in horror 🥰 grateful for u always!!
I’m so glad you are talking about this! It’s so important to have boundaries even with (ESPECIALLY WITH) the media one consumes ❤ love watching!!
This is why I love your content so much. You open up the discussion to these kind of themes.
what pisses me off about the strange thing about the johnsons is the amount of people that turn it into a joke, because if the mother was involved in that instead of the father they wouldn't be making it a mockery.
wait who's making it a joke???????????? wtf is wrong with people oh my god

First of all, Congratulations on hitting 250k Subscribers Sarah, you deserve every single one.
Secondly, I as a male don’t like films that feature SA, for years when I watched the 2007 Halloween movie, I was always told to look away at that scene, and I’ve only watched it twice, I despise having SA scenes in movies.
That scene ruined the whole film for me
I watched the director's cut of Halloween 2007 for the first time yesterday, and yes, the fact that the theatrical version of the movie doesn't have *that* scene automatically makes the theatrical version better than the director's cut (I still don't like the movie).
Wow that was my first time seeing that iceberg and I can't even explain the amount of anxiety and panic I'm feeling just from seeing those names... you make me feel so validated and safe in these videos though, I really appreciate how you talk about these things.

I really appreciate this discussion. There is a horror book called Cow. I WILL NEVER READ THIS BOOK. I just listen to someone recap it and I started gagging.

Love this topic Sarah! I never heard anyone mention this one: Luna de Miel/Honeymoon. A male neighbour obsessed with his female neighbour kidnaps her and tries to get the “stockholm syndrome effect”, by torturing her (NOT clear from the summary). The torturing starts very unexpectedly and before you know it you’re scarred! So warning for torture p*rn! You wouldn’t guess from the cover, this one was on netflix which I never expected to have this kind of stuff. I felt betrayed and turned off the tv so fast.
Yes! Luna de miel was a very unpleasant experience. I wasn't expecting it to be so gross and disturbing (the "finger surgery" scene was particularly horrifying). It's one of these movies I'm not going to watch again.
Question: Was the male younger and the woman older than him? I saw a snippet of a movie and I could have sworn it had Luna in the title or something about the moon. But I only remember he was younger than her. The setting I vaguely remember was that they were outside, it was sunny and the streets appeared to be cobblestone like it took place in Europe somewhere. They were only talking to one another, possibly being flirty. It might not be that film, but I figured I'd ask.

same!
For Terrifier/Terrifier 2, I just watched the Dead Meat episodes. I got to learn enough to engage in conversations about them, without actually seeing those scenes (ESPECIALLY the lengthy one in Terrifier 2.) I appreciate and respect the effort put into those films, but I still don’t want to see them.
i am glad that Lanthimos is always a topic! i am Greek and absolutely love his work
I remember seeing The Strang Thing About the Johnson's when I was younger. Around the time it really grew in popularity, one of the actors was most notably from this TV show called "Ant-Farm" on Disney which drew in another audience/demographic.
I think another piece of context is that I'm a gay African American male. I grew up in Decatur GA (metropolitan area of Atlanta). This movie was getting memed to death around my time. We (I mean kids and adults alike) didn't really give the film "respect". It was compilated with other memes/vine clips of the time.
Looking back as a more mature 21 year old now, it wasn't because of the message, but how the message was told. To my recollection, the ways in which the SA was carried out left room for people to "snicker" as to some it was comical.
But to add another layer, I found it ironic after a while that the African American community found it comical, when queerness and sexual assault are often real realities within our community. Namely older men preying on younger boys/girls. The uncle your family has to keep an eye on instead of removing the uncle from family functions.
But it was a cycle of hatred because, I can say for myself from anecdotal experience, the family unit (which is typically very numerous and tight nit within the aa community) would use those sa encounters as a way to "stifle" your deviancy. Deviancy meaning beliefs or actions that compete with the established norms. Things like being a young queer kid, or non religious were attributed to sa encounters at times.
All of this to say this movie has stuck with me, but not in a bad way. Through my perspective it's more of a way to see how my community reacted to sa themes being presented towards us and how we might have ignored them or projected upon them.
Anytime a friend/person brings up A24 movies, they are bound to bring up Hereditary or Midsommar. I ask them if they know who the director is, and tell them he also made a short film called TSTATJ. They get shocked and we proceed to compare and contrast the different family themes Ari explores throughout his movies.
When I was in college, one of my sociology professors showed my class Dogtooth and it was so polarizing! I enjoyed it but many did not and that's totally valid.
Sarah I love you. I have always been made to feel like im weird for skipping certain scenes. This made me feel so much better because I look up to you and value your opinion and I have for yearsssss. So hearing this stuff from you is a great feeling ♡

Congratulations on the 250k! Been a follower for quite a while. Even though I'm the total opposite of what you try to avoid, is what I love. The more disturbing, extreme, and weird it is I'm there but that's just me haha. I love listening to the descriptions and opinions you give on movies though, I love your channel so much!
I like a lot of disturbing content, I like to be weirded out and to be thinking about a movie for days later. But I agree, not so much a fan of the SA content. I think you can have the same disturbing factor without showing it.
This is so important!! If you don't want to watch a disturbing horror then you're valid. I can't stand people who shame others for not watching certain movies, literally who cares, like. 😭
And yeah, it's especially annoying when it's male horror fans telling women to watch movies with SA, it's such an insensitive behaviour it pisses me off
You're my idol, Sarah. Thank you for this.
I definitely think you are right both in stating your boundaries with Excision and in that it is the one you would most watch. I thought it was borderline a horror-comedy, in terms of the family dynamics, not truly a horror, but it has a gut-turning ending that might make it the most disturbing movie I watched recently when you tie it all together.
I watched The Hills Have Eyes remake when I was very young and it’s still to this day the only horror movie that genuinely scares me.
I went blindly into Dogtooth and ngl, I was both tired and on my sleep meds, so I was quite numbed out yet the more disturbing scenes happen to have a filter of vagueness and the scenes are quite stacked, as if it's during a longer period of years, to the point where the anxiety of the cathartic ending was the more disturbing by the end, the scenes of the adult-children acting out as violent dogs as well because it was a strange palate cleanser, but definitely not for everybody, it was definitely different while watching Visitor Q, because having Dogtooth in mind the weird events of Miike's film (which are also quite vague in nature) definitely made the movie seem more comedic than dark.
I've only just discovered your channel, but I'm enjoying it immensely. I watched The Bay the other night on your recommendation and thought it was really excellent.
I take it all back. One defines how and why they enjoy Horror. Well said and well done, respect.
I'm happy to have discovered this channel as a pleasant substitute for the many "movie bro" channels. Thank you for the insights and recommendations.
Can we stop gatekeeping horror movies please and thank you?
I’m so glad I’m not alone with having boundaries in horror movies. As a woman, there really are people out there who put pressure on me and others that we aren’t real horror lovers bc we avoid those types. I appreciate your honesty and attempts to normalize this 🖤
Yup. I agree with having boundaries about what you won't watch. Protecting yourself is important.
You’re lucky to know what movies have SA scenes back when I started being a horror fan I found random movies people recommended, I Spit on Your Grave was returning in redbox and i had no clue what it was just that it was horror.
this happened to me too, when i got to *THAT* scene, i had to turn the movie off and pray the dirtiness away, i felt deeply disturbed, i couldn’t even bother watching the revenge part, or the rest of the movie at that… horrifying to say the least 😅
Sarah I love your vids so much ❤ I recommend you La Casa Lobo (2018), it's a stop motion movie and it is very creepy but I think you might like the vibes✨️
you are so real for this!!
I am scared of literally all horror movies and don’t watch any, but I absolutely love watching your content. I have always found it interesting that I can read some of the most gruesome, disturbing books without any problem. Guess it has something to do with our eyes seeing what we otherwise would just read. I do skip pages sometimes and I suppose my brain almost freezes those disturbing images out.
Hey Sarah! Do you have a video aboit the most disturbing movies you have seen and LIKE? That would be cool to see :) Anyway, I am also a horror fan who avoids really disturbing films, especially with the elements that you have mentioned.
I should do that!!
Maybe you covered it on a previous video, but do you have any horror you won’t watch based on who acts, produces or directs it? I know Jeepers Creepers is a movie that many won’t revisit simply because of the person involved.
yep I made a video talking about why I won’t watch Jeepers Creepers 3
Absolutely appreciate hearing this! Began my horror journey over the last year and a half and have watched probaly over 100 movies that are horror or thriller. The amount of people telling me i need to watch this that or the other to be a "true" fan really upset me for the longest but have since learned that they are not the epitome of being a horror fan. Much love ! Also to share: Pet Sematary is one i refuse to watch ever again as well as any animal harm. I cannot stomach it personally
I appreciate this sm, I often question my horror fan credentials but I have think I wouldn't talk to another person the way I talk to myself. Like I would never call someone a "fake fan" because they only watch "mainstream" horror, so why would I self-gatekeep? Makes no damn sense. 😂
I did watch the strange thing about the Johnsons, just out of curiosity. I had no idea what is was about, I just heard Ari talking about it in an interview he was doing after Midsommar was released. My reaction, just flat out disturbing, and I agree, no entertainment value came from it.
Ari’s gotta Daddy issues.
Dogtooth is one of my favorite movies, and I would never try to convince anyone to watch it, especially not someone who's clearly not comfortable with the themes in it. They're just movies, man, people take stupid sht way too seriously. You can be a horror fan even if you like only one type of horror.
Edit: To answer your question Sarah, I like Dogtooth because I felt like it was spot on in its portrayal of a dysfunctional family, specifically how great of an influence parenting has on children, and how easily one can fck up their own child. The Strange Thing About the Johnsons I loved because of the feeling of dread and horror it managed to create in me. I also thought that the idea was quite original and very well executed, especially for a student film.
I get why someone wouldn't like it, especially Sarah having hated KoaSD. But I feel it's unfair to place on this list implying that it is like these other movies in content, eg., strong violence and traumatic acts. You might just think that from reading a description because if the events of the movie were literally happening then it would be about an abusive family...but it's not meant to be literal. It's about people acting not at all how people act, and that weird/uncanniness is what is disturbing, not that the depiction is in itself horrible and gruesome. There's a whole genre of "Weird Family" movies that are a subversion of the typical family roles, and are more absurd than horrific. It's like describing a slapstick comedy as a film about brutal violence.
No problem! I don't agree with a lot of your takes but I love your attitude! I like hearing your takes.
Great vid. I'm a new subscriber and I've really enjoyed your content. This subject reminds me of my relationship with the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Growing up I was terrified of that movie JUST because of the poster. I just knew it was something MORE of a film and that poster still lives in my head rent free. Finally getting around to watching it, it's a favorite of mine now. Now, I am NOT saying that you should watch movies you don't want to watch. The whole argument of "that's what horror is, feeling uncomfortable" is horseshit. I really agree with your points and I think that knowing about subject matter, eras, styles, subgenres, etc that you don't enjoy is a way to best engage in Horror.
Cannibal Holocaust no can't do it's way to much for me, including the Human centipede 1-3
Happy Friday the 13th 🌻🎃👼🏻💋🩷🧡🖤💘❤️🔥💜
Omg 12 seconds after you uploaded I’m here 👻
Thank you for the opening remarks and feelings about this genre. I do love all SORTS of horror and will watch MOST anything. I recently started talking to someone who enjoys horror as well, but seemed "tame" to me (i believe I jokingly called her Mid-level) for not seeing some films I like. It was OCTOBER Energy that got to me. Thank you for putting me back in my place. I am going to apologize.!
I am definitely that horror fan, who has major limits. And i am okay with that. I am very picky. I usually dont refer to myself as a fan because people immediately assume I like all the disturbing or gorey stuff. I don't. Love your channel ❤❤ 👻
Yeah I was appalled by the rape scene in the hills have eyes remake and shut the movie off when you know… the teenage daughter and mother are being raped essentially next to each other, AND the mother is pregnant, AND her lactating breasts are being… drank…. From… at that point I thought enough was enough and shut it off. Something like that is not needed in any film and you have to wonder who scenes like that are for and why anyone would participate in something like that.
I think that movie was a big wake-up call for me, because usually I would just watch it and deal with it, but after that movie I realized I don’t want to see SA in my movies and certainly not underage women be SA’d either. So now I have a very firm stance against SA in the movies I watch and I’m not afraid to turn them off anymore.
Omg, same. I remember renting that in middle school because my friend and I wanted to be "edgy" and get into horror movies. Thinking about it, it might have contributed to the (false) idea that I dislike horror as a genre, I was halfway through university when I realised I had simply been watching the wrong stuff my entire life 😂 but yeah, that scene stayed with me for years, I was paralyzed and neither me or my friend managed to skip it or pause the movie.
your hair looks gorgeous in this!
4:24 love your old tv combo
I totally prefer modern horror movies, and I haven't watched a lot of classics just because they don't really appeal to me. Your last video made me embrace this and helped me not feel bad for not watching this or that movie and led me to watch them when I feel like watching it.
I refuse to watch Babadook again cuz that kid got on my last nerves 🤭. Anyone else?
I turned that shit off after 30 minutes. That kid was more disturbing than any horror movieI have seen
I strongly agree The Babadook is one of the worst horror movies imo
Oooh he took my last nerve and twirled it like a rhythmic gymnast!
I completely agree!
yup 😭😭😭 i didn’t enjoy it, it was so annoying
