      The Chrissiest Chris Im a fan of the show, although sometimes I don't find it funny but pointless yet I have the patience to sit through a few bad episodes IMO in order to enjoy the really well done ones but I wouldn't call myself a fan of Seth MacFarlanes if that makes sense? Two main reasons for that are 1. People act like he's some type of comedic genius or pioneer, we wouldn't even know who Seth MacFarlane is if he wasn't so good at putting himself in the center of everything which is why he got so much press coverage which caused many people to become fans and many people to straight up hate his guts because he acts like he's some type of Mike Judge, Trey Parker or Matt Groening when he's clearly not. Seth MacFarlane had one hit Family Guy and Fox milked him and the show for all it was worth which isn't fair to Seth but he needed a paycheck at the end of the day. Plus the effect Family Guy has had on Cartoons that have followed is minimal when compared to Bevis & Butthead, early seasons of The Simpsons and SouthPark. At the end of the day Seth MacFarlane didn't do much for comedy on TV, he's funny don't get me wrong but I feel he's very overrated and #2. Every single movie Seth MacFarlane has made is horrible. I honestly don't know how anyone found Ted, Ted 2 and the worst movie ever made A Million Ways To Die In The West funny at all. Apart of me feels that because Seth MacFarlane is soo good at goading people into the response he wants from his writing that time is the best way to tell if he's as good as some say he is or a hack like some say he is. I believe the truth is somewhere in between these two camps. I mean let's be honest we all know at least one person you can get a reaction out of when you tell him Family Guy sucks and most people enjoy seeing someone spaz out over you not liking what they like I think that plays a role in it as well. I'm definitely guilty of it, simply because I'm a jackass and I don't think you should put anyone's work on a pedestal but that's a different debate for a different time. I hope my explanation of how I'm technically a fan of the show but not a fan of the cult of Seth MacFarlane shed some light on how his fan boys have literally created people that "hate" Family Guy or Seth MacFarlane just to see someone spaz out over it when it's not a big deal at all. It's simply an opinion

    Also doesn't help that every member of the family is a completely different person from what they were in the beginning.
    Meg went from being just simply unpopular and relatable to being straight up hated by her entire family with the weirdest ridiculous issues (tentacles on her body for example). And the episodes around her always go the same way. They start tormenting her for basically no reason. She calls them out. They learn a lesson and suddenly appreciate her and them seem to forget all of it by the next episode.
    Lois went from being the loving mother to a raging psychopath that despises her family.
    And that's just two examples.

    • @crazy922blade
      @crazy922blade Před 2 lety +150

      And Brian turned from a funny, sarcastic character into a self-centred b-hole who basically let children get abused in one episode just so he could date a attractive, unqualified teacher and upon discovering she had a boyfriend, then he found a problem. When Stewie was going to tell Lois that his arm was dislocated by his teacher like he should, Brian was so narcissistic that he forced Stewie’s arm back into its socket, preventing any evidence of abuse. He acts like he’s better than anyone and everyone else. Sometimes I genuinely agree with Quagmire’s thoughts about Brian.

      Cartoons aren't meant to last long. You can make exceptions but especially shows like Simpsons or Family Guy which rely on 2-3 plots per episode, eventually it gets impossible to get new ideas without having to sacrifice writing and sadly that's the compromise many do just to make more money. 4 maybe 5 seasons is enough for a cartoon. Even then that's pushing it.

      South Park is a gem all it's own. I can't think of any other show that I could compare it to. The show's reliance on current events enables it to stay relevant, and with how crazy the world can get and with all the idiots that exist in it, the show could go on for years more I believe. Granted, it did have it's rough patches, but it's come back from it so far. I am still a little unsure about the Tegrity Farms trend though...

    Family guy used to be hilarious. I remember being a kid watching a ton of clips from the episodes. I’m an American dad fan now, really I’ve always been a fan of both but back then family guy was the more popular show and hearing about how AD was treated as the “family guy copy cat” show when it was created and no one liked it. Now everyone agrees it’s much better than FG.

      I would say after season 5 is when the jokes started becoming unfunny and even cringey. Meg was actually a tolerable character before then and now it feels like they try so hard to make her feel "relatable" to teenagers it's hard to watch. That's not to say they haven't had inconic funny episodes since season 5, I would just say that since the new animation style the episodes stop being consistently funny and more politically correct. Seasons 1 & 2 (even 3) were by far the best with in my opinion the very first episode being the funniest by far. I wished they stopped after season 9 because now it's just hard to watch with recycled humor and advertiser friendly jokes.

      Greetings from 2119. After the end of the third American Civil War, all of the current actors for "Family Guy" were killed in a nuclear air-strike by the Alaskan Rebellion, now the Alaskan Empire. Seth MacFarlane died in 2037 because he was killed by some hater of the show, so Tom Holland, of all people, took his place. He was still playing the parts of Peter, Stewie, Brian, and Quagmire at the time of his death. I don't know why he would want to live in a crappy country like the United States, but for some reason he decided to take the job and move there.
      The show was cancelled by the Alaskan Empire's government. However, it was renewed after its 23 cancellation, because "FAMILY GUY" NEVER DIED. IT WILL NEVER DIE, NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU TRY TO KILL IT. I'm not saying I like it, but it has been cancelled *so* *many* times and has always come back, and there is nothing that any rebellion or empire can do to stop it.
      I also regret to inform you that "The Simpsons" was cancelled in 2037, because the person who killed Seth MacFarlane was the creator of the show, and after the incident, the ratings dropped tremendously.

    Family Guy died after the writers strike. When it came back in season 4, it seemed like it was never cancelled to begin with, as it immediately hit its stride and rode it out for two more seasons. Then the writers strike happened, and all the episodes after the 100th episode special (which was planned to air as the season 5 finale) had a massive drop in quality. Characters became flanderized, comedic timing was thrown out the window, the show got way more political, and it started being pointlessly edgy and cruel.

"Brian & Stewie" was such a perfect episode and such a departure from Family Guy's standard formula that, in my opinion, it not only stands as the best episode of the entire series but also serves as a satisfying conclusion to Brian and Stewie's character development. I think BRIAN was more than the voice of reason. At the beginning, he was a completely deadpan character. At some point, he became expressive like anyone else, which kind of ruined his humour.

    • @feraflauna3238
      @feraflauna3238 Před 5 lety +69

      +Vits Vicente Torres-Also more THAN that :D, he was probably the only individual in the series that was reasonably self-aware. Everyone else just took all the weirdness that came into their lives. ..Brian was really the only one who pointed out just how weird things were, ie. if he ever saw Peter get into a random fight with a giant chicken, he would have casually commented over just how strange. . and. . .random that was. . .because it is. . .and how. .and how these weird things shouldn't make any sense. However, probably in part due to the fact he was a talking dog and no one still listened to. . .a talking dog. . .he might have tried to get everyone to see just weird their lives are but eventually gave up when he knew they didn't want to listen. He probably did let Lois know at some point that Stewie was evil and out to conquer the world but she was willfully oblivious to the fact her baby son could talk-in a British accent no less-and was out to become the world's greatest supervillain. And when Lois didn't listen, he just gave up and took it as it came.
      That deadpan self-awareness has been largely obliterated at this point as Brian slowly morphed into a condescending, snide, pretentious, and insufferable a-hole endlessly preaching for tolerance and understanding when he became one of the least tolerant and understanding individuals. He even went so far as not only to criticize Meg's newfound religion in one episode because he simply didn't agree with it, but he told Meg there just can't be a God (despite that. . .God and Jesus exist in Family Guy. . .they've. . .appeared. . .several times.. . before. . .) because she is ugly and her family hates her. Just. . .what. . .the. . .flipping. . .hell? That is just awful and MEAN. His flaws became so exaggerated and cartoonish to where all that came to a point where Brian stopped being likable. He was just yet another a-hole in Family Guy, only far more pretentious and condescending that he just wasn't "like them." Spare me.

    I liked Life of Brian but literally only for one reason: Stewie. They really made the fact that, although he’s a genius, he’s still just a little kid, very apparent. And I felt that they captured how a little kid feels when they’re pet (their best friend) dies. He was in denial, he wanted to go back in time but he couldn’t because he threw away his time machine. That’s a very relatable feeling, wanting to go back in time to save a pet (especially the way Brian died). I know nobody’s going to read this. I guess I’m just typing it to myself because, well, I lost my cat a few months ago when he was hit by a car, so I really know what Stewie is feeling. I just wanted to say this and get it out finally. I just want my cat back.

    I feel like this is the perfect epsidoe to say when the show died. Since some people debate whether or not the show fell off in seasons 6-11. Season 12 is when the show became objectively bad. This is when the fans and writers all just wanted the show to die

    This video makes no sense. Seth MacFarlane has said that he stopped writing stories for family guy since 2010. Why would Brian's death be a metaphor for seth being detached from the show when he already left 3 years earlier?

    Family Guy suffered like most franchises the "simpson syndrome". Sooner or later they will die out.
