I found it fascinating that the entire beginning where Killian was explaining his upbringing, he never once talked about his own struggles or personal feelings, unless prompted to. I never see people so selfless on the internet anymore. Sending so much love to you, Killian.
Great comment, Blaire! I couldn’t agree more.
What a sweetie
What a beautiful kind soul, the whole time he talked about his mom n dad's struggles n the good in everyone.he has no clue just has special he truly is❤🙏
This is a really good person, right here. I think he has a solid grasp on empathy and carries himself with such grace. Truly a kind soul.
Her upbringing
I grew up in Hazard, Kentucky and live in the next county over now. I went to school with Killian the first year of high school, Killian has always been so wise. Glad to see him doing so well!
Quit cappin!
My great grandparents lived there. I used to visit a lot when I was a kid.

@@wes365 @alexandereckert5939 it absolutely baffles me how you people are watching such an exclusive-to-all channel that soft white underbelly is where people talk about the most vulnerable moments throughout their life and you decide to comment something like this. that is, of course, if you're not some very pathetic individuals under every possible video mentioning transgender people using the asterisk and "correcting" other ppl in the comments with totally incorrect pronouns. finding a better hobby would for sure prove useful
As a fellow Kentuckian [born & raised in Louisville - moved to Larue Co. to maintain my sobriety] ...thank you for being brave and telling your story to the world. Wishing you peace, love and happiness ❤
Loved this interview, it’s rare to see someone on this channel who doesn’t blame everyone else for everything. He seems a really genuine person and I hope he has a happy life and future.
sorry but what does your comment "it's rare to see someone... who doesn't blame everyone else for everything" mean? So many of these people are sexually abused, indoctrinated into terrible groups, peer pressured or raised in environments with high drug use. are you referring to them when you said that?
Killian deserves his success. Incredibly honest and hard working. I wish I had more colleagues who acted like Killian
Killian seems such a selfless and kind person. He is loving to his mom and stepdads, even his own father who put him through trauma with the suicide attempts.
He sounds intelligent and he doesn't blame his transition on trauma from his childhood, he knew what he wanted.
I hope he has a happy life.
You look great! Thank you for sharing Killian!
Great interview Mark!
That last statement moved me more than the entire interview. "You have something in common with everyone you meet"!
What a lovely gentle soul...also, no matter who Mark photographs, he always manages to capture their eyes , beautifully...I'm sure a lot of it is down to his skill...but everyone he interviews has gorgeous eyes..😊❤xxx
Killian's discernment and compassion are so inspiring.
Killian is exactly the kind of person who will change the world -- one person at a time. Anyone who meets him can't help but know how decent, capable, and empathetic he is. He personifies this truth: Love is love. Thanks for this interview.

Props to you Killian, for taking all the opportunities that come your way (including this one). I wish I could say I did the same.
I’m a gay man who grew up in SW Virginia Appalachia and while I didn’t grow up in eastern Kentucky, I am all to familiar with the area and circumstances Killian grew up in. He seems to be a very mature and driven man with good character and priorities. I commend him for his understanding and acceptance of his family members and the situation from which he came. I also commend him for getting himself out to a place more accepting and comfortable for him to live his truth. He is an inspiration. I hope others like him see this and are inspired to follow his lead. Thank you Mark for sharing him, as well as his experience and wisdom with us.

Anyone who isn't okay with the way Killian is living life is missing out. Such a wise, eloquent young person who has so much to share.
😆 🤣 😂
I enjoyed listening to Killian, thank you for sharing.
this video and comments really taught me a lot. here you have a kind, gentle man. full beard, wearing a flannel and jeans, from eastern kentucky. this is essentially the poster child for exactly how conservatives say they want transgender people to exist. it would be so easy to accept Killian and continue pushing hate towards the rest of the community. but even Killian, someone who has done nothing "wrong" and simply wants to tell his story, isnt enough. nothing will ever be enough for a group who hates indiscriminately. genuinely, this is really meaningful and eye-opening to learn.
why not live life to the fullest and be exactly who you want to be when conservatives will hate you any chance they get? why even try to conform to what these nazis want you to be when you will never be enough for them? i wish the best for Killian and hope he continues to live true to himself. i know for me, im going to be true to myself too. i am done worrying about what other people think of me. hate me all you want, youre the one who is going to die with regrets. not me.
Beautiful comment, thanks for that!
love to you. I'm also a transman in an epicenter of southern hostility (Texas) and you're right on the money. the laws they're passing will only keep honing in till they can outlaw our existence.
honestly I think that's why a lot of us come off as "weird" compared to Killian. because once you realize you will never fit in the box well enough... why hide anything? I think everybody has things they wish they could wear but don't feel like they can pull off, guilty pleasures they don't admit to, ect. and... I gave up on hiding all of that too not too long after reaching exhaustion on hiding who I am to those I love. but I didn't get out as young as he did.
Stop it.
This person probably got irreversible surgeries done to them that they will one day regret more than anything. Irreversible harm. I've seen too many women crying because they realized they wanted to carry children and no longer can because they were brainwashed. Not to mention the many health problems they have afterwards.
Such a handsome, authentic, intelligent person! Thank you for your story, Killian.
Killian, I am just in awe of you sweetheart. I was born and raised in Northern Ky, and all my family is from Eastern Kentucky. I can only imagine what you’ve had to deal with. But…look at you! Not only did you get outta Dodge and get yourself an education, you are indeed living your truth in the life you deserve. I’m just so happy for and proud of you 🥹 I have a sneaking suspicion that this is only the beginning of your remarkable journey. I wish for you the very best this world has to offer. Keep being the kind, humble, beautiful soul that you are and I know it’s all gonna be GREAT! 👏🏼👍🏼💕
what a beautiful message, We need more people like you in this world ❤
I feel like more people would be accepting of trans folks if they more often took Killian’s approach.
I agree and I’m one of those trans people. We aren’t all the same and unfortunately some of the worst are the only ones focused on.
Killian, I think it is SO cool you were one of the first people on the board when gay marriage was legalized, it's weird to say that because I don't believe it should have ever been illegal. Your story is so heartfelt and I think it's so precious how much you care for your family. There is something to be said about a person who knows in their mind and soul that something about their personhood doesn't feel right from a very young age before they even experiences any trauma. Your accent is lovely and I understand why people want to be private or are shy.
Peaceful conversation about a subject that society is frightened from for reasons only each their owns knows.
Interesting for sure. Thank you sir.
Dear Killion, I appreciate your spirit, kindness, humility, also peacefulness that seems to come from self acceptance and self respect.
Wow. It’s rare to see such a well rounded, understanding, wise young person. This one will go far in life.
What a sweet person. We never know what life will bring and why. Bless his entire family. ❤
I want to be like Killian when I grow up, and I am quite a bit older than him. He seems a kind, humble, thoughtful, and thoroughly decent human being. His response to the most important thing he has learned, blew me away. Might be the wisest response I have heard yet.

Hi Killian. I spent some time in Hazard with Habitat For Humanity. We did home repairs (mostly replaced roofs & built outhouses) and loved on the local cats.
Great advice at the end. Thanks for interviewing an Atheist
...Outhouses?
...It angers me that, in the richest country in the world, not everyone has access to public utilities.
(Unless they chose to move to the back of beyond and selected that freely)
Just noting.
Yes, many outhouses. Not many people in Appalachia seem bothered by using them. I suppose it's a way of life for many, but I see your point.

@thegoodgreekgirl2190 i don’t disagree with you, but honestly, being gay, straight, transgender, etc., has little to do with being a good or nice person. your lifestyle/rearing/personal relationships etc. does have to do with it, but really, there are very great and absolutely horrible gay people, great and horrible transgender people, and great and horrible straight people everywhere.

Killian is a much better trans representative than Dylan Mulvaney
There is no one “correct” way to be trans. Just like there are all sorts of straight people, gay people, what have you. Everyone is unique, that’s one of the things that makes people so special. Society needs to stop putting so much pressure on queer people to be a certain type of way. Dylan is also a trans woman, so her experience is going to be different than that of a trans man. That being said, I did really enjoy this interview and I think if more people did see “average” trans people, as in not social media influencers with big personalities there would be a lot more understanding and acceptance

I've lived here in Southeast Ky my entire life and tbh most families are to busy just trying to survive week to week to worry about someone else's color or sexual preference or what they want to be identified as. It means nothing to the vast majority of us. Just live your life and if you are happy then we are happy for you. If you need help with something don't shy away from asking us because we are glad to be of service to someone whose struggling because we know that feeling. There are people that are set in their ways and ain't willing to change their opinions of something that they truly don't understand because if something is being talked about in a national spotlight and is only shown in a negative manner, no one is going to be willing to dive deeper into it to try and understand it.
Thank you for this. I'm a trans man who grew up in Appalachia West Virginia and hid being trans from my family all my life until my 40s. It's hard being different and growing up in a very old school conservative culture. You feel alone. Nice seeing another trans person from a similar background.
As the mom of a trans son, I wish his parents would try harder to be more accepting and understanding of his transition. He seems like a great guy. I wish him all the best life has to offer.
