- My first drive on the Corris Railway, and I absolutely loved it! Yes I made lots of errors. Yes I also pronounced Maespoeth horribly, but I had such a great time!

I love the narrow gauge railways especially the Corris railway. I see many people want the Tallylynn railway next that would be good. Great video Sam
Yeah definitely - I'm going to look into that for sure! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
If its any narrow gauge I would go on welsh highland railway WHR that connects to Ffestiniog railway FR but they don't have that on TS only mods and that's not the best detail
The talyllyn is out for TS, though you have to buy it online and it’s a disk
Hey Sam I love your vids! I'm not in the best place right now and your vids are a good distraction.
Thanks so much mate, sorry to hear you're not doing too well, hope everything gets better for you soon! :)
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
You should play train sim world 2. You can paint what ever train you want however you want.
If you want to run narrow gauge on your oo layout then by a on3.
Same, dude. 2020 has been a downer for everyone in so many ways :(
@@mycluck2353 I mean in life... like my mom hates me
Hi Sam, sorry to hear you had a bad experience with our Caledonia Works products. I would be more than happy to help get these products up and running for you so please feel free to contact us :)
It would be nice to see some more CW content on the channel Sam.
If the problem is rectified on your end.
Thanks mate! I installed them successfully in the usual way - the 123 that I already have does work, but the rest crash the game immediately once loading is complete - I've tried it on 32 and 64bit versions, changed graphics settings, compatibility modes etc. Haven't tried uninstalling and reinstalling yet, if that's worth a try?
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
@@SamsTrains I have droped you an email. We can't have you missing out on the Caledonian life ;)
“Can this locomotive do a crawl” - Sam’sTrains on every model train review
haha exactly!! ;D
😄👍
I love the Corris, my absolute favourite railway ever! The history especially gets me with this one, well worth a look!
I loved this too - such a cool place! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Amazing video Sam, I have always loved the corris railway.
That hole at the back is for the coal and so they could throw sand on the line and couple up wagons
Thanks a lot mate, I can see why! And thanks a lot for the info! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
I'm glad u r doing one of these again I loved them!!!
Thanks so much, that's good to hear! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Great little simulation of the Corris Railway. Beautiful scenery, sharp gradients and our Sam as driver!! What a wonderful trip!!
I love how chilled and relaxing this is ☺️ Great video Sam, would love to see you take on more narrow gauge railways in the future!
Thanks so much!! I'd love to do more too! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Very soothing to watch this, and the “levitating” man was hysterical!
Glad you liked it Ken! haha yeah that was odd! xD
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I bought the program specifically for this line. Look at the real Corris Rwy on CZcams. The detail of this sim is superb!
Ahh fantastic - I agree, very good route this one! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Cool videos Sam!! :D keep up the great and stay safe buddy!
Thanks so much - you too mate! :D

@@SamsTrains there is a really good narrow guage scale(s) called HOn3 or HOn30, a bit expensive but the most detailed models i have ever seen
@Darth Severus Yes lad
Hi Sam. Love your videos. I actually worked on this railway a few years ago and fired no 7. It really is a beautiful line and well worth a visit.
Oh wonderful Steve - you're incredibly lucky to have been able to do that!! Much envy!!
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
It looks like a wonderful game!! I’m really enjoying watching this!!
I Love the colors on that little engine, and the route is so detailed. Most routes in the game are sometimes sloppy, but I couldn’t see much mistakes besides your mate Patrick levitating😂. Amazing video Sam!
Me too - it's such a great route, yeah overall not too sloppy! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Awesome video today Sam loved the locomotive and the location
Thanks so much James! :D
Hello again Sam. It’s been over a year since I watched you, had to deal with some demons but I’m better now, and i have been watching you for a week or so now, great job mate. Your channel has grown a lot.
Glad to hear you're doing better mate - welcome back!! :D

Thank you
Good crawl at the second attempt, Sam! Lovely video - very entertaining
haha thanks a lot Rick! :D
Great video Sam! Haven't got this route on train simulator but will be sure to pick it up! You should have a look doing the gravity train scenario, if not for a video just in your own time it's quite an interesting experience from what I've seen of the real thing in videos :)
I can definitely recommend it - such a lot of fun!! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Good morning Sam!! I would love to get something like that!! Yes, there ARE some narrow gauge lines on which full size locomotives can be used. Corris is one of them.
Ngl I Love The Idea Of You Making TS Vids. Keep It Up!
Thank you!! Glad you liked it! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Care for a few tips? When you're up to speed ease back the reverser, you'll use less steam, once you're moving press C to shut the cylinder cocks. Also that engine has it's own steam brake to the left of the large brake. Make sure it's off when you start. I think that's why you stalled leaving the shed.
Many thanks for this, I'd forgotten the control for the cocks, so that'll help!! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
@@SamsTrains No worries mate, thoroughly enjoy the content. PM me if you want any more advice, I drive Narrow Gauge in Ireland. :)
@@hawkerhellfire9152 that is cool as! Is it a little steam line?
@@baronnecas2880 Tis, Stradbally Woodland, we have one steam engine, "Róisín", an Andrew Barclay Well tank of 1949. :)
I also volunteer on the Cavan and Leitrim, they have Nancy, an Avonside Side Tank of 1908.
Running a full-size train, you'd have the wheels on the outside of the track. The tracks are essentially fancy-looking paths, and the model makers have to gauge their wheels accordingly.
Ahh I'm with you - thanks for that! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Wonderfull effort Sam ! I have a Flieshmann narrow gauge "Magic Train" it is O scale 1:48 , but runs on your OO gauge track ! It is very similar style to this loco , built as a toy , the detailing is so good with a bit of paint and weathering , looks "professional" narrow gauge hand- built quality . You can see a lot of these in the continental narrow gauge shows . Wales UK land of narrow gauge 😎😍 ps Mice -poyth is close enough !
Thanks a lot Fred, that sounds fantastic too - I'll have to look out for those! :D

i like these little railways! the steam locomotives are cute!
i have to say, hats off to these narrow gauge loco drivers, because those gradients man!
Me too, such a lovely place! I agree - a real challenge that! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Awesome dude
Thank you! :D
I haven't actually tried running a standard-gauge train on narrow-gauge track, but I've tried it the other way round. The train floats in between the rails, and you can get an electric current even though the pantograph doesn't touch the catenary. The magic of It Just Works.
I've seen this route in the Steam store, but never touched it, and I think I might get it later after seeing it.
If you enjoy smaller steam operations, you'll probably enjoy the Maerdy branch, and maybe Clear Creek.
I haven't yet, maybe I'll do it on video some time?! That does sound fun! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
You should do more of this 😂 loved the video

Thanks Ollie! I'll do more soon!! :D
Wow sam your layout is so realistic now and i like how there is camera pointing to your face

Hi Sam, Nice run , will be calling you Sam the steam, or Ivor the engine, All the Best Brian 🤗
haha thanks Brian, lol! ;D

That is amazing
Thanks Justin! :D
Hey Sam!
That little porthole in the back of the loco is a hole for which to fit the long handled firing tools (rake, poker, long shovel) to clear out the cinders and ashes from the firebox at the end of the day., as they wouldn't be able to fit them in the small cab without the hole.
Ahh very interesting! How come the hole wasn't on the inside too?!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Idk why it's not see through in the model, perhaps they fitted it with a removable cover while it's in use.
You can only switch points that have a lever on it, the ones that automaticaly switch are operated from the signal box, because they are on the main passenger line while the others that don't change aren't so there is no need to they be automatic.
That makes sense - thanks for this!! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)

I have a some route recommendations for you:
Rivera Line in the 50s. I had so much fun with this route during quarantine. It is reasonably priced, comes with a lot of engines and rolling stock, and the route is huge!
Isle of Wright: If you like this one, you will like the steam railway part of this route.
Clear Creak Narrow Gauge Railroad. Only if you want a big challenge. In traditional American Narrow Gauge Style, it is an absolutely beautiful route through the rocky mountains. It's expensive, but worth it. (Real challenge to go from Georgetown to Silver Plume)
I have played the Riviera line before actually - it is very good! I'd love to try some of those others, particularly Clear Creak! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I used to work with John Chown who is mentioned on the little plaque. Always good to work with - much missed.
Ahh I'm sorry to hear that Steve - thank you for sharing this! :(

Sams trains: the epic pro gamer who ones a pro gamer move and has a big brain time
Ooh really? Okay!!! :D
I am going to look into buying the 009 gauge peco set track set when it comes back into stock and a loco as I am really interested in doing a little Welsh narrow gauge layout.
I've looked at it - it's certainly very tempting! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Woah, one of the first TS addons I ever bought. Amazing route. Also the other DLC with (diesel and battery) locos and scenarios for this route is really worth getting.
Also, I think you've been running with cylinder cocks open all the time, pardon me if I'm wrong. You can close them by pressing "C"
I think so too, there isn't normally that much steam exhausting out from the cylinders. It's normally jetted up the chimney to draw the fire, which is why a small loss of pressure may happen when keeping them open. Not opening them at the correct time can cause serious damage.
Note: Cylinder drain cocks are used to clear the condensate steam from the cylinders to prevent lock ups, or hydraulic lock. They should be opened just before coming to a stop, and closed 5-10 seconds after moving off again.
Another note: the damage system is not simulated in absolute majority of locos (Victory Works locos have it simulated, for example), but keeping the cocks open when not needed wastes steam in every loco.
Ahh, I don't play Train Sim, so was more talking about real life, but nice to know! There is still an incentive to operate them properly, as we have both said.
Definitely! I got the extra addon, and it was a lot of fun for sure!! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
The C key will open/close the cylinder drains. They will cause you to loose pressure if they are open at speed.
Ahh that's the one - thank you for that!! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Lazer jet tried driving a standard gauge engine on a narrow-gauge line and it looks crazy, it was the A4 sir Nigel Gresley
haha so I've heard - I will have to try it! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
hey just a fun tip, when u are going up hill the is a button to use ur sanders so that might help. Anyway have fun!
I don't think I was slipping - it's just loco power - worth a try though! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
It looks like Edward Thomas at the Tallylyn railway in Wales. Also it is the Real Peter Sam from Thomas and Friends on the Skarloey Railway on Sodor.
haha does it?! I didn't know this was him! :O
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
The engine you drove in the video is the same class as no.3 Edward Thomas on the Talyllyn railway, which is the basis for the Skarloey railway and all the engines on it in Thomas and friends
That's awesome - I didn't know that!! :O
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Apparently I was wrong, it’s a real engine and different class! czcams.com/video/EDv5C8XB7sc/video.html (Also Edward Thomas is no.4 not no.3)
It's a great route Sam, I'd highly advise downloading the extended version on the Steam Workshop, called Corris Railway Northern Extension (not made by me)
I agree - so much fun! Yes this route does have the extension I believe! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)

Sam, the points you had to operate yourself are manual oints under yard control. The points that set the route for you are under the control of a signal box.

fun fact, that hole on the back is so the longer shovel can go into the firebox

Ah, the Corris Railway. If I recall, that is the railway that the Tallylyn locomotives now known as Sir Haydn and Edward Thomas originated from. When it closed down, they were sold to the Tallylyn. Ironically, the Corris Railway has since re-opened as a heritage railway and has been building new locomotives to the same design as Sir Hayden and Kerr Stuart.
And this is all the origin of the tales of Sir Handle and Peter Sam, naturally.
(EDIT: Name corrections)
Ahh I didn't know this - thanks a lot for the info, hope they get everything up and running again soon! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
The hole at the back is one way to put sand on the track when running in reverse using a watering can.
Ahh duly noted, thanks a lot for the info! Did they really use a watering can?!

Me too - it's so lovely! :D
You need to get a OO9 locomotive and make a OO9 branch line on your layout!
I do!! That'd be epic! :D

On Shapeways, there are some 009 coaches which would look nice on a narrow gauge ghost train!
Welcome to Sam's Trains Rail Tours, please note that all times are approximate to within plus or minus 1 hour and zombie passengers are most welcome. Thumbs up, Sam!
haha absolutely right - rather you than me! ;D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Part of the realism of TS is that some points are manual while others are controlled centrally by the signaller. This *should* be modelled to follow the real-world implementation of the layout.
So cool. I have the Corris Railway and I am very pleased with it. In 3 days I completed all the scenarios that where with the route + that pack.
Tell me what do you think about the route.
Thanks,
Steven

Anyone else think watching Sam play Derail Valley would be awesome?
haha yeah I've thought about that, it would be fun! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
4:18 I thinks that is suppose to be an
Escape door. For instance, if an engine's stuck between an a narrow Bridge or a mountain side that is tight for the crew to get out from the cab, that escape door is another way to leave out of the engine if an Emergency.
haha that's very interesting - I wonder if that's true?!?!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I think it would be fun to maybe see you make an OO9 scale layout, Sam. Of course, you would have to figure out where it would go, but I’m sure that you could do it. If you want a good loco, I would recommend the Bachmann Rheneas. It is part of the Bachmann Thomas range, but unlike most of the other Bachmann Thomas models, Rheneas has a die-cast metal smokebox and boiler (I’m not joking), quite fine details like a separately fitted handrail, and proper metal bearings on the axels (again, I’m not kidding). It is quite expensive for those reasons, so it might not be worth it, but you might think that it’s a good model. Sorry that this comment is so long.
Yeah that would be great fun - maybe I will do one day!! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)

Nice one Sam.
I've had a footplate ride on the real life Corris No7. My band headlined the Corrisfest rock festival in the town back in 2010. We played on the Saturday eve, and I ended up chatting to a couple of guys who volunteered on the Corris. One of them invited me to meet him at the station 9am on the Sunday morning, and I got a footplate ride down the line and back on the first run of the day. Great experience.
Keep up the good work
