Really good session Sam and a very worthwhile message too. Thanks to you and all our heritage railways.
Thanks so much Mike, really appreciate it! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
You just can’t beat heritage railways so much history and character with each loco and rolling stock Thank for bringing back the memories Sam 🙂
Absolutely - wonderful places to go! It's a pleasure mate! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Great video! Stems engines shunting is oddly satisfying
Thanks so much - I think so too! :D
@@SamsTrainsfun fact: Maude appeared in Thomas and the Railtours.
I remember your shunting sessions from a couple years ago! Please bring them back, shunting is so therapeutic! In fact, I think I might put a shunting layout on top of one of my shelves. I’ll have to do some measurements first though, it’s mainly depth I’m thinking about. It would be nice to take the train away at the end too, if there’s enough room.
Really good to see you do engage in "playing trains" as well as collecting locos.
And enjoyed watching the water tower in use too.
Hoorah for Steam Galas!!
haha thanks very much, glad you liked seeing the tower! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
This video was a great reminder about heritage railways and stuff like museums that do need our support. Also this video format was fun, especially when you were trying not to cause a crash. That was honestly my favourite part. Happy to see the castle and Maude though.
Thanks so much Sparky, yes indeed - hopefully all these places survive! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I saw the collection video and thought "can all of sams engines fit on his track?". It would be great to see that although probably an absolute nightmare. Btw great video as always
I think the answer would be a definite no - no way! ;D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
This was just a beautiful running session, great video Sam! Heritage railways are the best!
Thanks so much - really glad you enjoyed it! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Thank goodness for gigantic hands! Also great video Sam, it’s great that you’re supporting the heritage railways. You’re lucky in Britain with how many there are and how many beautiful steam trains you can see. Unfortunately in Australia heritage railways are far and few. When the pandemic is over I would love to come to Britain and visit some of the heritage lines and see some steam! Something to put on the bucket list!
I know - I'd be lost without them! Sorry to hear there are so few where you are :(
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I loved that gala. I enjoyed it because there was lots of stuff going on and it reminded me the actual railway hongs that go on. You made it real as well and it’s as if I’m there. Have a great day :D
Thanks so much - really glad you liked it for that!! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Great video Sam, can't beat a bit of shunting with steam engines! I just did a very similar video on my own channel.. albeit on a much smaller layout 😂
Thanks mate, I really enjoyed making this one actually! Sounds good - I'll give it a look! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
@@SamsTrains Cheers Sam! Just saw your comment on my video now, really glad you enjoyed! Looking forward to more videos from you in the future (as always!) 👍
Pay the great sausage brakeman more quid, he is doing a great job!
haha I agree! xD
5:52 "I think the coal might get a bit wet"
Didn't the lms make thier coal wet for more efficiency? Or was it a different company? Either way, one of the companies made the coal wet
haha really?!? You could be right! xD
@@SamsTrains haha yeah, I think I saw it on an old lms archived film
Green Shark it was to make sure the coal soot didn’t make a mess of the cab floor, it also stops it flying around the cab and getting in your eyes!
@@benhack3102 I thought it would be something like that, but I couldn't remember. So to be safe I said efficiency, I'm not wrong. You are more efficient when you can see without soot in your eyes
An amazing video sam. Really enjoy the locomotive and rolling stock used. Can not wait to see more videos like this. Take care of yourself
Thanks a lot Luke, you too mate!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Great video and thank you for plugging heritage railways as they are all still struggling and some have unfortunately cancelled events or the rest of 2020 ☹️
No problem - thought it was a good thing to do!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
What a great video Sam it has been a while since a steam running session. Good idea to promote the Steam railways. Thanks Liam
Thanks Liam - it certainly has! Glad you liked that too! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Sam, your channel is such a blessing in these trying times. Thank you again for a great video. I love it how you Brits treasure your heritage railways. We have only a couple of those in Finland. However, there is at least one Finnish Tr1 4-6-2 "Ukko-Pekka" passenger locomotive in England in Enfield, the Lady Patricia. It should be in working order. Take care and keep on chooching!
Thanks so much, that's really lovely to read! Great to hear you have at least something out there over there! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Nice relaxing run just chuffing along.
Thanks Sam. You've always got something great to watch.
Thanks Jimmy, that's lovely to hear! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
As soon as I saw the J36 Maude I clicked straight away :D, I also really like heritage railways been to like 4 in the last month and hope they stay open as well, Great video as well :)
haha yeah, she is a fantastic loco! That's awesome - glad to hear you've been to some! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)

"Tender engines don't shunt!"
haha I know - I'm a but guilty of doing that from time to time! ;D
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Thank you Sam I enjoy your Productions. You inspired me also to make my own little films and I discovered you when I rehashed my model train and my garden railroad fun.
Thanks so much! That's awesome - good luck with your films!! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
@@SamsTrains czcams.com/video/DjGAGGc0ItA/video.html. Thank you Sam this is my link to my latest little video about my Lionel large-scale railroad set that I put around my palm tree in my front yard. Have a great one and cheers to you sir.
I really enjoyed this video I shut my eyes and actually pictured myself on the couches and it really does work the locomotives had great sound very realistic thank you for making this video it was awesome
Ooh that's awesome - glad to hear it was immersive for you!! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
A steam gala, oh I love galas. Tomorrow, 16th of September 2020 is my 18th birthday. Those years of love of trains, hopefully soon I will visit a railway again, havent been to one for two years.
Thanks a lot Jamie, and have a very happy birthday my friend! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
@@SamsTrains thank you very much.
This is a quite fun video, some exciting moments, thank you!
Thanks David, glad you liked it! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
With all the digital technology with automated train systems driving the train manually still the gives the most pleasure.
Yeah me too actually - always great fun! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Nice running sesh Sam, more of this please. All the best.
Thank you!! I'll do my best! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Good afternoon, and thanks for the video! I love my local heritage line, I'd love to go and see them, but sadly I can't at the moment. I might do later this year though. Thanks ever so much for the great content you do so much of!
Good afternoon, very glad to hear that! Hopefully you can soon! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
We need to get this guy to 100k he deserves it
Thanks so much Scott, that would be amazing!! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
It's a beautiful thing you've displayed. My "thumbs-up" was number 4-4-4. In Canada, that would be a Jubilie Class steam locomotive. Your purpose is/was well understood and accepted.
My location has a heritage locomotive, but due to the situation at hand, has kept its doors closed. My location also has the "Rocky Mountaineer Rail Tour" based here in Kamloops, but again, cancelled all trains. So, the only moving fair are the freights and a few times a week VIA Rail passenger trains. Making matters worse presently is fire smoke and now a freight train derailment at one of the river corridor passes.
Keep up the videos... all of them. I very much like the variety you provide. Themes and special occasions bring one single mode of importance: Running Trains. And you do that well. Close calls and any imperfections make your videos "Perfect Fodder" for viewing pleasure... while your commentary is duly complimentary as offerings and certainly keep away any tort of boredom.
Sam, I'm across the big pond and a land mass, a nice six hour journey from the next big puddle. I am entertained and close to being 52 and happy that you reviewed Illinoise Central 4-6-0 Number 382 because, as I said on your FB page, I finally bought one by divine availability... and your supportive commentary.
You are doing a fine job. Thank you. John
Thanks so much, and thanks for sharing too! Hopefully some of these places will be able to reopen soon - definitely been a terrible year :(
Appreciate all your kind words,
Sam :)
Yeeeeesss! Finally someone makes a video of a heratage railway! My layout, which I am currently constructing, is a heratage line and like to see other model heratage lines. I think this castle should have just been restored at butterly midland centre and this is it's first run at the Sam's trains railway.
haha exactly!! And that sounds amazing - good luck!! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Really enjoyed this video, my favourite type, also well done Sam for mentioning the heritage lines.
Thanks so much - I thought it was the right thing to do! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
7:45 the last 0 in its 5050 number should be a 1 and you have one of the preserved engines
haha awesome!! :D
Love the shunting videos!
Sadly a lot of my railways are still closed, West Somerset and the Peckorama are still closed, and apparently they’re introducing even more restrictions, so no trains but your still allowed to hunt, because of course
Thank you! Ahh that's a shame - hopefully they'll be back soon :(
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I am from Leeds and there used to be a Railway up here called Midleton Railway (The world's oldest continuously working public railway) but sadly a while ago some Kids set fire to a Jewsen's which ended up causing fires in Midleton Railway itself, thankfully as of what I have seen, most of it survived.
I always use the railway as a way tp get across that part of the town as it is a straight line (and you are allowed to walk on it).
I say there used to be, By this I mean it got burned down, the railway and most of the building is still there, I just don't think it will be running again for a while, not sur e though.
They used to have a Christmas Train and so on.
So sorry to hear about that - disgusting what some people get up to. Hopefully all is okay there :(
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
@@SamsTrains I hope they get it back too, Middleton Railway is the world's oldest continuously Running public railway so would be a shame if it had to be closed down.
Name dropping two of my favorite people, love it
haha awesome!! :D
J36... whatever coaches she was pulling, those coaches are beautiful. Simply beautiful
Thanks so much! Yes they are lovely - old Hornby teak clerestories! :D
Ooh a heritage running session. Great video as usual. Lots of nice ones
Thanks so much mate! :D
This is extremely relaxing... Need to get my oo out again.
Thanks so much! Good luck!! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Sam. I think this was a nice change of content and would like to see more of it. Your reviews are always welcome but I think this is a nice way of keeping things interesting.
Thanks so much mate, I will try to keep things varied! :D
Nice realistic running session you got going on with your steam locomotives! 😃👍
Thank you!! :D
I went to the NNR a few weeks ago and really loved it
Great to hear that, it is awesome! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
We need more of this
I'll see what I can do! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Fortunately many heritage railways have opened, not sure when I’ll visit my local one though, excellent operating session here Sam! -TheImperialDiamondSpinosaurus
Ahh glad to hear that - hope you have a good time! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Great video Sam
The Severn Valley Railway I volunteer at has re-opened, I would loved to get back to volunteering but found out someone fell from a great height before lock down causing the Bewdley yard to be closed for Health and safety inspections and it now requires a yard manager to keep it safe before re-opening to volunteers.
Thanks so much Ben, and terrible to hear about that accident - did they survive?!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
If I see Maude, I click- I’m very simple 😂
haha glad to hear that! ;D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Love Maude 👍Tony North Eastern ran her first into the new station he just built.
Jimmy Duncan yeah south sheilds
Please do more of this, Sam
great video Sam... including the stubby fingers lol you did our railways proud mate
Many thanks mate, that's lovely to hear! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I'm on my way to Swanage heritage railway tomorrow. Been many times but still cant wait..
Good luck Gordon, hope you have a nice day! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
In terms of supporting local heritage railways. My family will be making a donation to our local railway, the Severn Valley, And I Myself will start volunteering once again a couple of times every month like I used to do before all this started. I clean and fire up locos mainly so hopefully that will help them out. Great video Sam really enjoyed it :O)
That's lovely to hear - thanks so much for what you're doing! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I liked this video very much, more like it would be nice. I used to build rolling stock and once even attempted a steam loco (back in the late 1960s). Because of your videos, I have begun to purchase used rolling stock and locomotives and intend to set up a layout. I intend to start with DC; I am buying all older equipment and repairing it, where necessary. We have some Heritage Railways in the area. One that is nice is the CASS Railroad in West Virginia. It was a logging railroad and runs several Shay Locomotives.
Thanks very much! That sounds fantastic - great to hear you're getting back into things! Can't fault DC - it's still a great way to go!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
What's up Sam. Really like these type of videos! Please do more of them. Thanks! Take Care.
'Sup! Really glad you like it - more coming soon! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
thanks for that sam.very enjoyable heritage sites are a must.cheers tom
It's a pleasure mate, they are indeed! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Great to watch Sam, more like this please.
Thanks so much mate, I'll try! :D
673 is a very beautiful loco. I have the Bluebell and the Kent and East Sussex railways near me. Amusing commentary Sam 😆
Ooh that sounds lovely, hope you can get down there some time! Glad you liked it! ;D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Lovely locos and lovely running-Ben
Thanks Ben, really glad you liked it! :D

A lovely mix of tender engines.
Thanks Tomas! :D
Sam'sTrains No problem. Tender engines are awesome to the max.
Sam you are absolutely the best! Thank you!
Thanks so much mate - that's very kind of you! :D
Steam locos rule!! Just about to head to school so gotta go Sam! Seeya!
Good luck at school mate! :D
Nice! This reminds me, I need to make more buildings for my layout
Awesome!! Good luck! :D
@@SamsTrains thanks mate
hello sam i think the selection of locos was very good a selection of engines that are hard to find in one place and i would love to visit a heritage railway some day like the bluebell railway and love the video from david
Thanks a lot mate, glad you liked the selection! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Really enjoyed this video thank you Sam
Thanks Pedro! :D
Great video Sam I hope to see more of videos like this one and more of the great unboxing videos keep up the variety it is great goodby for now .
Thanks a lot Louis, appreciate it! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
You could have said the Castle could have come from the Great Western Society and why does this feel like an actual Heritage Railway you did amazing Sam now I'm considering on getting a castle class for my model Railway
Ooh good thought - wish I'd thought of that!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Definitely enjoy your loco reviews, however this video is great, and support for the heritage railways is a great idea...
As soon as Disneyland re-opens I’ll be riding the Disneyland Railroad which is indeed a “heritage” railroad. We do have a lot in the US and they are such an important look back to the past, as well as going to our many historic railroad museums and model railroad clubs and associations. Yes, support them all!
Yeah I guess technically it is - it's been there for the best part of a century!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Sam'sTrains Although the original two locomotives (4-4-0) were designed and built by Walt Disney Imaginering, formally WED (Walter E Disney) Enterprises, the other three locos that were added later were a 1894 (2-4-4T), 1902 (2-4-4T) and 1925 (2-4-0 porter) Baldwins. These were restored and each has a unique livery. All the locos are steam with diesel as their fuel. So those are truly “heritage” engines. But yes the entire Disneyland Railroad is also considered a heritage railroad and is on the US historical registry. Aa side note, nearby Knott’s Berry Farm’s narrow-gauge railroad is also heritage as those trains and locos came from the old Denver & Rio Grande Railroad and they have a very unique Galloping Goose railcar (you need to look that up if you haven’t seen one!) Cheers and I do enjoy your videos! (Interestingly I get daily email updates from a guy in the UK (Devon) named Alastair Lee sand his Model Railway Layouts Plans site.)
Looking at the engine in the shed view, your carpet looks like gravel, nice angle
haha thank you - yeah I've thought that before too! ;D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I loved this and would like you to do more.
Thanks William - I would love to yeah! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Well that was a fun run!
Thank you!! :D
That was very nice Sam, especially the Castle. One thing that it has highlighted is that despite all the modern technology available, the sounds for the First generation Diesels are absolutely spot on, but when it comes to Steam locos, they are nowhere near the correct sounds made by the different classes of loco...Bob
Thanks a lot Bob! Yeah that's true actually - wonder why that would be?!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Hi Sam,
Bachmann decoders may be crippled, and not allow this feature, but one of the more basic advantages of DCC decoders is being able to adjust the voltage for each speed step. One of the best and easiest ways to do this is through the use of a computer interface such as the SPROG 2 or 3, and JMRI’s DecoderPro software. You might need to change out the Bachmann decoder for one that is more easily adjustable, but maybe not, try it out and see.
That's interesting Bill, I'll look into this for sure - thank you!`Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I’d love to see more videos like this
I'll see what I can do!! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)

Thanks a lot Brian, haha glad you liked that! ;D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
There is something really relaxing about watching these types of videos that you upload...even if there was a couple of near misses.
Am I right in thinking that 2020 is the year of the Pacer as far as heritage railway lines are concerned (I appreciate these are very much like them / loathe them trains)? Seen various pics of various 142/3/4s arriving at their new homes.
That's lovely to hear, thanks so much! Yeah there were some near misses! Ahh really? That's very cool - I'm sure all the steam enthusiasts will be pleased about that ;)
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I enjoyed that thoroughly do please repeat! A little devil over my left shoulder was rather hoping for a major train crash!
‘I am a hurricane that cannot be outrun!’
haha oh god - is this going to haunt me now?!

Awesome video today Sam very interesting video and beautiful locomotives I hope the railway doesn’t get shut down
Thanks James, really glad you like them! I hope so too :(
5:41 Ernie’s back once again, but now he’s working at the water tower. Hopefully he doesn’t screw anything up while he’s at the water tower like make everyone soaked in water or something! :P

haha!! Ringtone material or something?! ;D

Great running session Sam
Thanks David! :D
Do you think we could have an industrial engine gala next?
You could do what the pontypool and Blanaevon line did, they quadruple headed a train with 4 Barclays, maybe you could triple head with Katie, the Caledonian one and Ajax the 0-6-0?
Maybe! That would be great fun - thanks for the idea! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Sam just for your information I put that same TTS sound chip for the J36 in my O scale Dapol pannier tank engine. Not exactly the sound for a pannier tank locomotive perhaps but I’m American and can’t tell the difference anyway! 🤷🏻♂️ So long as it has a British sounding whistle I’m happy!
OH wow! That must be very cool though - does it work okay?!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Sam you needed to say roll up roll up come and get your candy floss and put he old steam fair music on 😆
haha that would have been good actually, lol! ;D

Fantastic video, Sam! I’m about to post my Goods Gala, running session tonight! What are the chances? Take care!
Thanks so much! Ooh fantastic - hope yours goes down well! :D

My goal this summer was to do the “be the engineer” (aka driver) at the Northern Nevada Railroad & get to drive a steam loco. Obviously that got postponed 😂.
Awhh sorry to hear that - hopefully you can do it some time soon!! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Lol I love it how the turntable stops at every set of tracks! Typical of Hornby accessories, it's more of a toy than a realistic model! :p
haha I know - very annoying isn't it?!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Nice work Sam I guess more trains running on the railway steam hauled would be great maybe the next video would be two railtours on with the DCC sound Tornado with mk1 support coach in maroon with the Pullman coaches then another tour hauled by the King class with sound hauling a mixed rake of Chocolate & cream mk1s with the Green mk1s making the Cornish Riviera Express
Thanks Terry, that'd be excellent too - great suggestion! :D

It's a pleasure Paul, thanks! :D
Great video, Sam!

I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad my friend, my thoughts are with you and your family. Hope you're doing okay :(
By the way Sam last weekend just gone I was down at Quorn Woodhouse station on the Great Central Railway and and there were three American locomotives all with sound

Hi Sam, great little vid there mate. Maybe you could theme some future ones, e.g. Tank engines or era (pre-grouping, big four or a diesel era) or express passenger. Ref your turntable, I'd thoroughly recommend the Heljan. Regards Terry.
Thanks Terry - absolutely, that'd work a treat! :D
