    This workshop is coming along nicely and nice to see your reasoning regarding the decisions you’ve made. And that looks smart, thanks for sharing 👍

    That looks really good, I made a similar stand with wheels for my table saw as it slots into my bench

    I have the yellow version of your saw, complete with the postage stamp top, and it is on a flip down mobile stand. I believe a set up like yours will better fit my needs. Thanks.

    Nice one Matt, firstly for showing the kick back and what you did wrong, and secondly on the build. I have the same problem with those Stanley Fatmax Boxes, now you have given me an idea. I was going to do a stand with shelves and wheels to hold them, but now i might try what you did and involve my table saw. Thanks.

    Did you do a review / your thought on this saw? The top looks great. I use a diy table saw, and I am building a new one at the moment, but to perfectly honest; I am quite fed up with not a having a proper table saw in my workshop.

      Badger Workshop I went yesterday to screwfix to get the Erbauer tablesaw on clearance for £189. All sold out!
      Was looking at the Scheppach for £212 but came away with nothing instead. Fancied a couple of days sulk before I started looking again.

    This is a very nice saw and storage solution. Kudos to you for showing the kickback incident AND then explaining very clearly what caused it and how to possibly avoid it.👍👍 I own a very cheap saw(Would love something more like yours but funds dictate differently at the moment) that I was looking to make more useful, this would indeed make a nice addition to my shop with one minor change: I'm thinking about routing out the top of the storage and instead of the toolbox shelf, angling a board towards the back and opening the bottom of my machine to encourage the sawdust towards the back of the unit where I could funnel it into some form of extraction...do you think this would work?

    • @Badgerworkshop
      @Badgerworkshop  Před 5 lety +1

      I think that would work well and I might end up doing something similar

    You position the crops slide right back so you have more space Infront of the blade. The cross fence only needs to travel to the centre of the saw blade not past it as the cut is finished at that point. Don't know if that helps ? Oh and good luck with dust collection on that saw 😀

    Hey Matt. Hope you had a decent Christmas bud. What made you swap out the Bosch for the Draper table saw? Few people in the comments mentioning your lack of riving knife (they're not wrong) but you diagnosed the cause rightly - not removing the spacer. That kind of kickback will still happen with a riving knife with the length of spacer rip you were using. I know, it's happened to me before! A riving knife only helps, it does not eliminate kickback. It's important to remember when pushing the workpiece from the left (via a sliding carriage for example), not to use a fence (or spacer ;-)) on the right. Same as when using a fence on the right, don't push the workpiece through the saw from the left. Asking for trouble if you do, riving knife or not. I know you know this Matt but might be useful to someone reading. All the best and here's hoping everyone keeps their fingers in 2019!

    • @Badgerworkshop
      @Badgerworkshop  Před 5 lety

      Thank you. It came with a river knife that was not adjustable so I have made another. I was waiting for the steel to be delivered when filming this. I thought I would just be carful or so I thought.

  • @howardbecdove9780
    @howardbecdove9780 Před 5 lety

    Right before the kickback happened I thought “no”.
    So easy to criticize though, when you see it on camera...... but who was there (C`ept me) to shout at me when I made a similar error in the track saw.
    Well done on the build, and for showing the mistake.

    • @Badgerworkshop
      @Badgerworkshop  Před 5 lety

      Thank you. It makes you think. I know I will be more careful

  • @chemcody5119
    @chemcody5119 Před 5 lety

    I saw that kick-back coming and I was actually yelling at you to "STOP". :)
    You might want to slightly round over the corner on your extension wing since it's so sharp. That may save you a nasty scratch on your arm or side. Happy New Year Matt!

  • @terryhilder3315
    @terryhilder3315 Před 5 lety +1

    kickback isn’t fun, I did almost the same thing but instead I had a square piece of 18mm plywood hit my stomach after my table saw picked it up and slung it at me (think of it as a pointy frisbee) fortunately for me it wasn’t enough to bruise (well, more my ego) but did smart even with multiple layers, needless to say it was a vital lesson to install my riding knife.

  • @hythewoodworkdesigns
    @hythewoodworkdesigns Před 5 lety

    Hiya Matt. It seems this table saw is the same as the Axminster TS200. I had the exact same problems with the sliding carriage. Also the pressed steel side extension was only taken out of the box this year; 4 years after buying it. It was warped badly & if course, can't be returned.
    Do you have an issue with the mitre slots? One side seems to be minutely narrower than the other & for the love of woodworking, I can't find runners suitable, as the depth is very shallow & making my own is a challenge, even when sneaking up on the cut. I'll wait to see how you sled shapes up.
    Hope you had a great Xmas

    • @Badgerworkshop
      @Badgerworkshop  Před 5 lety +1

      Yes its the same. I will making s sled in the next few weeks.

  • @davep5829
    @davep5829 Před 5 lety

    Looks good, think I might shamelessly steal the idea for my table saw.
    I think your saw is essentially the same as my Axminster TS 200, which is a great saw, with the exception of the RH extension table, which isn't remotely flat. Have you had the same problem?

    • @Badgerworkshop
      @Badgerworkshop  Před 5 lety

      It is the same. It seems ok. could use better dust collection and more power

    • @clausfriishansen2247
      @clausfriishansen2247 Před 5 lety

      @@Badgerworkshop And the same as the Holzmann TS 200. I've had massive issues with mine, bad dust collection, no straight profiles aso aso. Tore it apart, will use the motor for a bandsaw, and I buildt myself a saw based on a 3HP GKS 85 from BOSH. MUCH better in every aspect - and cheaper!

      What was wrong with yours?
