DIY Table saw workbench

  • I desperately needed a table saw work bench and I really didn't have the space in my garage/shop. I also really wanted a table saw (haven't ever had one) and it needed a space. We have a pretty small 2 car garage that I share with 2 cars and kids so this set up needed to be able to be mobile and pushed out of the way when necessary.
    So, I talked to a bunch of other makers all mentioned in this video and tagged below. They all have something similar and have their own plans. I kind combined a lot of them and created this set up that works so well for my space. I am linking my plans here:

    Great use of space!! I don’t know why there aren’t more videos like this with “nesting” tools to efficiently utilize space!! I have all my tools ready to go..table saw, plainer, jointer, miter saw and drill press. Now I just have to find the time to build a naive nesting, efficient station like yours!!

    Ty for the video. Used some of your video help build my same nesting setup. Added a 4” x3 foot side tray to clear off table of little things quickly and keep pencil square and brush in regularly. Also added two drawers on the one side that faces out to have a bit more hidden storage. Again ty for the video and good job.

    What a great build. Great idea to have table saw under your miter table. Great space saver.. Never seen a build were the 2x4 are laid flat for the top of table..

    Nice solution - looks a lot like the one I arrived at. I put a router table insert alongside my DeWalt 745. Putting castors on stuff is so useful I find - I've got less space than you : UK garages are small ! And I paint frames too, otherwise it's just wood colour everywhere. Garage makeover looks brilliant. Good luck with the business and that DeWalt saw is such good value, enjoy it and cut safe !

    With your pocket holes, make sure that your screws go the opposite way that you put them they'll be visible, but will he much stronger. When you drill them into towards the end of the board, they're really weak and susceptible to torquing out

    I like the nesting concept and your build. I have a similar job site saw and would like to improve the out feed and dust collection. My only criticism is that your setup doesn't seem to allow for use of the fence. I think leaving a few inches gap between the saw and the out feed would allow us of the fence.

    • @EternalHarvestDecor
      @EternalHarvestDecor  Před 4 lety

      Thank you so much for watching! And you’re totally right I actually did leave a gap and maybe I didn’t show that clearly enough in my video. But you are correct you need a little gap in order to use the fence which is absolutely necessary. Thanks!

      This video popped up in my feed again. I built my table saw cart three years ago and it has been great. I built it about a foot wider than the saw to give room on the side of the saw to build in a router table. Still haven't built in the router table yet. @@EternalHarvestDecor

    only problem with all these designs with wheels even with lockable casters when you push material through the saw the saw can move especially when sawing large pieces .... all saw benches should be on the floor and static to prevent any movement...... so best use retractable casters to prevent this.

    • @EternalHarvestDecor
      @EternalHarvestDecor  Před 4 lety

      Hi Vincent, I can see your point. I have some pretty steady casters on here though and I’ve pushed some pretty hefty lumber through 8/4 stock and it’s been ok. Thanks for watching.
