The publication Politico reported yesterday that the US is planning a new military aid shipment to Ukraine worth nearly $6 billion. This would be the largest single aid package the US has provided to Ukraine during this war. According to Politico, this package includes ammunition for Patriot air defense systems, various other types of ammunition, counter-drone measures, and air-to-air missiles

No, USA has NOT demanded that Ukraine should stop their operations against russian installations for fuelling the russian attacks. USA has said that USA does not support these operations, and asked that weapons from USA should not be used in such attacks. That is very different. What Ukraine chooses to do with Ukrainian tools, is up to Ukraine.

Not sure if that would still be true if the political will was there. Because that's missing the most. Look at recent polls, eg. how few young Germans would be willing to defend Germany with weapons in their hands - very few.
If Scholz did what Arthur proposed and said "3% for the military tomorrow, vote for me", the pro-ruzzian, fake "for peace" AfD would win with over 50% of the votes (they're now polling around 30%) and Scholz would be gone. So many people here in Western Europe still haven't woken up and think that putler would stop after Ukraine.
Same in my country Austria, we recently joined the European sky shield initiative. We don't really have air defense but ironically we have very good sensors and radars that can detect incoming missiles and stuff over most of Europe (apparently our system can actually look even quite far into Ukraine). So the deal is kinda we do the detecting and other countries do the shooting down and together we protect the EU.
And the reaction of many people here? "Omg, our government is selling out our neutrality, the only thing that would really protect us". As if neutrality were some kind of magic cloak from Harry Potter. 🤦‍♂️
The average person is stupid. And our politicians qnd media being bad at explaining things and ruzzian influence on social media running stupid misinformation stories doesn't make it better at all. People are all why can't we be friends with ruzzia, look at gas prices at the pump, it's so expensive.

This is true, although it should be remembered that a lot of those "petro-dictatorships" were set-up and continue to be propped-up by the West in order to maintain some level of control over the resources in question (eg prevent them from being used for the benefit and at the direction of the populations who supposedly own them), so it's not exactly as simple as you're presenting it to be. The West doesn't have a unitary set of values or goals, and, as the GOP just showed us in the most blatant way yet, large sections of the wealthiest classes in the West seem dead-set on destroying democracy so long as it might possibly lower their taxes a tad (thinking on why so many such people live in the West and not in the Randian stateless utopia of, say, Somalia doesn't seem to be a priority for such classes. Should they succeed in their mission, they'll regret that choice bitterly).

The Japanese learned the hard way during WW II how ineffective putting oil fires out with water is. Water can make the fire worse by spreading the fire if it is not contained in a vessel. The oil floats on top of the water and keeps burning. Effective firefighting requires using a foam product that smothers the fire and cuts off oxygen.

    • @LordofTheFallen
      @LordofTheFallen Před 15 dny +1

It's worse than that. Oil, and grease in kitchens, can be heated much higher than the boiling point of water while still remaining a liquid. So when water is thrown on the fire it instantly boils and turns to steam, effectively exploding, and showers the surrounding area with flaming oil particles which then spreads the fire.

For the EU, not just an increase in military spending has to happen, but also a reform to have less bureaucracy.
Here in Germany, atm over 80% of all the military spending is for wages and bureaucracy. Just around 20%, around 11 billion last year, was to buy weapons. A lot of european countries have that problem, but in Germany, it's very extreme.
Germany wants to increase the money spend for weapons to 65%. With the old budget we had, it would be around 18 - 19 billion instead of 11 billion for weapons. But our government promised to increase the military spending to around 85 billion, so that would mean, we can buy weapons for nearly 30 billion instead of 11 billion each year.
I really hope, they do it, and I hope, they get far more efficient with the money. I hope that for all of europe, because in Germany, reforming the military alone would mean, nearly twice the money for weapons, and that would be the case for a lot of european countries 🤷‍♂️

If this war has taught us anything, it’s the fact that we don’t have enough air defence systems in Europe, we need to build and design a all European system for All nato countries in Western Europe which fires the same missiles plus we need longer range systems, also we need much cheaper cost effective systems such as automated gun systems which can down cheaper drones and such with a cost effective method instead of having to use multi million dollars missiles on cheap drones, also all future armoured vehicles being built must have factory fitted systems which can take down drones aswell as AT missiles

Europe doesn't have a long range system, we use patriot, but europe, at least Germany, produces different anti air systems. France and the UK have their own anti air systems, but I will focus on 2 from Germany, because one is in Ukraine, the other against drones is new.
You usually have multiple layers of anti air.
The first is long range for rockets, missiles, planes. High value targets. We use Patriot. A million per shot, at least.
The 2nd is medium range, for cruise missiles and jets or bigger drones, helicopters. Germany produces IRIS-T. It's still hundreds of thousands per shot.
You sometimes have also a short to medium range system, that shoots down smaller targets, like shahed drones. Israel has the iron dome, 40k per shot. You also can use jets with anti air weapons.
And then there are short range systems. Guns, up to 4km range. On many bases and ships, there are gatling guns, that fire around 100 rounds per minute, and Germany has developed the MANTIS system. It fires munition with shrapnells, that explodes in the air, and can take out a whole swarm of FPV-drones with a single burst.
So yes, we need more anti air, but europe produces some of the best anti air systems in the world 🤷‍♂️

We ALREADY build and design an all European system: SAMP/T is better than the Patriot and 5x cheaper, tus, Aster-30 "only" ranges 120km, for €1m per pop...
      Patriot :
      PAC-2 : 160km, $5-8m
      PAC-3 : 20km, $2m
      PAC-3MSE : 35km, $3m...
SAMP/T-NG is coming in 2025, will outgun PAC-2 and likely Russian S-300/400's 48N6, but wait, Aster-NT block.2 is planned for 2027... 2.5x the range and 2x the altitude of THAAD... It's made for exo-atmospheric interceptions up to 3000km ranged IRBMs at mid-course...
For shorter range, there is MICA-VL : MICA-NG has longer range than AIM-120C used by NASAMS
For even shorter range, Crotale Mk.3 does the job of Iron Dome but covers 800km² instead of 150km²
Mistral ManPADS can have a non intrusive turret launcher named SADRAL, 50% faster and 50% more range than the Stinger
Thales Rapid Fire and Oerlikon/Rheinmetall Millennium Gun do a one shot, one kill on FPVs, The MG shoots its 35mm AHEAD ammo at 1000 rpm, each separates into 152 tungsten pellets 10-30m ahead of the target. The RF only shoots 240 rpm but it's caseless 40mm CTAS with 200 pellets and... It's more polyvalent because there are anti-tank shells and the explosive ones are as powerful as a 90mm shell... At such rate of fire, you can do an artillery barrage from 8.5km...
And now, Oerlikon proposes a HEL laser turret too...
What we don't do are super long range ultra high altitude anti-ballistics : RIM-161D block IIA (US, $18m) ranges 1200km at up to 1050km altitude. Germany bought Arrow-3 from Israel ; same specs but the missile is much better for... $3m per pop...

You are extremely correct in your assessment of who is providing aid to Ukraine.
This unfortunate pause in US aid brings up a lot of questions in hindsight.
Especially given that ONE COUNTRY, the US was the biggest single provider of aid since before the actual start of the war.
Why were the many wealthy country's of the Western EU not able to step in during the 6 month period to make up for the pause in US aid? Germany, France? Aside from a lot of big talk from Macron, could not deal with a 7 month pause from the US?
As for the British, I think they are doing are they are capable of doing at this time...which is a lot more than can be said of Germany and France.
The US is not 50 countries, it is 50 states. Germany is a single country with an enormous economy, but they could not step up to make the difference in 7 month pause with the dictator right at their door step?
What happened to the 800k Czechoslovakian shells that everybody was supposed to chip in for and buy for Ukraine?
Before the war, there was a lot of sneering about the US being "the indispensable nation" when it came to defense of Western Europe, or the other democracies across the planet. As German politicians vacationed in Moscow doing pipeline deals. Where is that sneering now?
Now Scholtz is "looking for Patriot systems to give to Ukraine". Is he? What about the ones he has in his country? Or the 100 other such systems scattered across the EU?
Western Europe needs to take this event as a wake up call. There may come a time when the US will not be able to provide infinite support to combat yet another home grown terrorist dictator threatening western Europe.
As for now, we are in it for Ukraine. Some of the bravest people on the planet.

The unfortunate reality is that until Russia is marching on them, they will only continue to do the bare minimum (to keep the US involved).
Complacency is rampant in the EU and has been for decades. They were spoiled by the US defensive shield and nuclear umbrella. The fact they could do nothing better during that 7-month hiatus the US took highlights how incompetent and lethargic the major EU members have become.
Its insanity how the major EU nations are riding on the backs of Eastern Europeans for their defense.
Seems to me they found another nation(s) to parasytize off of now that they know the US caught on to their game. I mean, why actually try when there is someone else to do that work for you.
Almost makes me not want to support aid for ukraine. But it's not Ukraines fault, and they shouldn't be punished for Western Europe's idiocracy.
Maybe there needs to be a reshuffling of who the US helps after the dust settles. Perhaps we should shrink our involvement with the major Western European states and replace them with the Eastern states.

Germany and france are giving stuff, but Germanys an odd one, western Europe has baby sat them and had military bases there since the second World War. They always produced huge amounts of stuff and had no real army to outfit with the stuff. Now that's changing and they're trying to shift back into having a relevant military, that might be why they're being less forthcoming than we'd all like. Just a thought really I can't provide evidence for the theory. What is Spain doing? They should be offloading half their aging hardware overnight, seen very little from them. Your previous comment from your reading you’re correct some of the equipment they have are only 500 GPM pumps to 700 GPM pumps not enough water Getting to locations to cool down oil, tanks, and storage tanks near the fire. The main attacked. She’ll always be cool down tanks that are not on fire. Second plan is to use foam on the burning tanks foam wall cut off oxygen to the fire, extinguishing the petroleum. Next in that video you’ll see they had their equipment too close to the two 10,000 gallon tanks to the left of the video. That is a no no. There are stationary platforms were cruise can enter and set up lose guns other tanks or they can pump water on the exterior of the tank to keep it cold, and then fall back and until you can get enough phone from either local authorities or airports to extinguish the petroleum fire. As well as their self-contained breathing apparatus that is antique we would call 20 minutes of air in their tanks not good with their self-contained breathing apparatus either MSA or Scott like we have in the US up to 90 minutes. But you can tell Russia does not even quit fire service with a proper equipment. We can go on for hours of that video.

Konstantin from ”inside russia” mentioned a fire where the firefighters eventually showed up but did nothing because they couldn’t afford water. When in America, he was impressed that firefighters actually did what they were supposed to do and acted completely professionally. Maybe it was you that extinguished the fire that was when he was there?

    I repeat what i have written on a telegram-chanel:
What I can see is a tank that now probably really can't be "cracked" with a single armor-piercing charge.
But I can also see a tank whose rotating turret no longer makes any sense. In order to fire in a certain direction, the entire tank must now turn.
I can also see a tank that is now several tons heavier and therefore has reduced speed. Likewise, the higher weight will reduce the general off-road mobility of the tank; the higher weight will also cause the tank to sink faster and deeper on soft ground.
The commander, gunner and driver -- they now only have a kind of "tunnel vision" ahead and no longer notice what is standing to the left and right of them. A company of Ukrainian soldiers could stand behind such a tank without the Russian crew noticing....
The higher weight will also mean that the engine and gearbox are subjected to greater stress; the engine and gearbox will now be exposed to much higher forces for a longer period of time. More fuel is also consumed - a tank like this can no longer go as far on one tank of fuel as the standard version of the vehicle. Well - Russia seems to have enough fuel.....or maybe not.....? We'll see. In addition, the parts used, i.e. the panels and scaffolding parts, look as if they had been cut out from somewhere else - i.e. used scrap. There are two explanations for this. Either Ruzzland cannot produce standardized new parts for it or Ruzzland wants to set a record in “recycling”. Personally, I think more of the first explanation.
My personal, non-professional opinion is that in the long run all the disadvantages will negate the only advantage.

      @issadraco532 Před 15 dny

@@attilamarics3374 it's not that they don't show the map. the guy shows the map at the beginning. the problem is that a lot of the pro-ukraine pages have been spinning the facts real hard to paint a different narrative and distract from what is really happening on the ground.
for example, yesterday the algorithm recommended me a video from that "today there are a lot of important developments from the ali express online t-shirt store front" unknown dude that is supposedly "reporting from ukraine" and that spends most of his time whining about getting targeted by the "evil russian bots" after two years straight of trying to squeeze every last penny out of his audience by selling them crappy t-shirts and recycling his footage and reuploading it on dozens of different pages in dozens of different languages in order to make as much cash as possible as opposed to just adding subtitles like a normal person. and for example, the video that i saw yesterday was exactly the same nonsense with the ridiculous "wow! nice! genius ukrainian commanders set a trap for the russians and destroy super ultra top secret russian tank base! flawless execution, revolutionary tactics, major strategic victory, crimea victory beach party imminent!" titles.
so it really makes me wonder about the stereotypical ukraine flag profile picture viewer whose superficial interest in this conflict is limited to just watching one of those little five minute "everything going perfectly according to plan, ukraine winning, russia dumb and incompetent and running out of missiles" videos every once in a while just to leave some "slava ukraine" before moving on.. because what kind of understanding could those people really have about what is happening on the ground? that page does show the map, but the dude always uses some fake map from weeks or even months prior with his own ridiculous made up drawings instead of the actual real current map. he does everything to avoid showing the advances that russia made in previous weeks, and then every once in a while he'll quietly add some extra red without mentioning it. and when that happens, it will never come with some "wow russia is advancing really fast, situation is dire for ukraine" title to actually inform his viewers and allow them to understand that the situation has changed and that russia has regained the momentum and that ukraine is now in a dire situation and losing ground pretty much across the entire front.
nope, quite the opposite.. russia may have achieved a breakthrough and advanced by miles on a particular date and seized a key logistical hub for a bunch of little villages in a given area, but instead of just being fair and objective and "reporting from ukraine" like he's supposed to and informing people about that development, the dude will instead jump through hoops and bend over backwards in an effort to find some ultra-localized microscopic scale nonsense story about how "wow nice! genius ukrainian tank crew drove through powerful minefield and fired devastating shots at russian trenches! putin in tears, russia collapse imminent!" that happened in some unknown village that consists of like two corn fields and some barn and that hasn't seen any heavy fighting in like a year or something and that is located like five hundred miles away from where the russian breakthrough just happened.. he's down to literally bragging about how a single ukrainian tank managed to fire a couple of shots before quickly turning around and booking it straight back to the ukrainian lines without getting smoked. the lack of good news is so severe that such incidents are now considered major strategic victories by these pages that will report on them with a straight face and attempt to frame them as big achievements.
so yeah, these pages have become kind of a joke.. maps from months prior, ukrainians always pulling off major victories against the incompetent russians, and yet if you were to actually look at even the fake outdated maps that they're showing each day in their videos, you'll see that russia is advancing. it's just that the title and what the narrator says never mentions it. it's always just a big red section that gets added on the map quietly alongside a title about some totally irrelevant local story about top secret tank bases and two rambo soldiers that held off a dozen russians on their own for a few hours in some unknown village or whatever story that has absolutely zero impact on the large scale picture.
this leads to people having a totally warped perception of what is happening in ukraine, because if they don't watch anything else and don't know what the real map looks like, they're not gonna know that dude is showing fake maps from months prior and drawing most of the stuff himself.

The Russians spotted the defences were unmanned and pushed forward. The 47th were turned about and sent back into the fray once it was realised along with the 110th which is a territorial battalion with no mechanised support. Still unsure about where the 115th actually are now. In the fog of war mistakes happen - hopefully a lesson learned.

Even if the army says we want to spend this much on new vehicles, there has to be a tender. It takes time, then all who lost in the tender sue the government. Then the court orders pause in the purchase before its clear the tender went by the rules. It is very unefficient and slow. If tomorrow our government says we will spend 5% of our GDP on our defense, the army will not be able to spend the money and will need to return most of it. Of course the government should work on this issue, but it is a little bit more complicated then just to decide how much money to spend.

Until our representatives voted to allocate money for Ukraine, the department of Defense didn't have the funds to replace what it was giving away. That part of the money goes to the Dept. of Defense, and the DOD gives contracts to companies to make munitions to go back in our stockpiles to replace what goes to Ukraine.
But remember, the money our representatives gives to the DOD, to replace munitions given to Ukraine, comes out of my paycheck; and every paycheck in the U.S. We already took money out of my paycheck for the current stockpiles to defend our nation. So they want to take more money out of my paycheck, because what I paid for, my representatives decided to GIVE AWAY TO UKRAINE.

Only slightly less than the much heavier Leopard 2 (0,89). With this construction added it is probably double. Add soil conditions in spring and autumn that would lead to them becoming a fixed bunker.

So instead of waiting to be relieved they just upped and left the possitions and the Russians exploited this and as no one knows where the 118th is, the 100th was sent to hold the line across the side while the 47th turned around and had to go back to work.... I follow both Ukrainian and Russian pages on telegram that show uncensored videos of the war. Russians are very by the book when using drones, but Ukrainians are way more crafty and creative with drones using them for dozens of different purposes because they had to make up for the lack of aid they had in the last few months. Ukrainians tore up Russians badly with the way they used drones, so I'm not surprised Russians started doing this. They have also been putting covering over trenches and nets on bikes because again, Ukrainians were messing them up left and right.
