Finally....FINALLY!! Timmy my musk turtle has his own proper setup, shared with a few fish of course. We went for Odessa barbs as they are chunky and fast and no way he will be able to catch them. I think this turned out great and he should do really well in here. I don't think Timmy will grow any more. He was the runt of the little and that's why I picked him and seems to stay the same size now. But that's fine because he is crazy cute!

For my mud turtle, Vinnie, I use plants (currently java fern) rooted to small pieces of driftwood. He pushes them around without hurting them and often ends up creating a nice hidey spot for himself. Plus I just grab them out of the tank for cleaning so I don't have to work around them. Vinnie was a wild turtle who got run over years ago and is now blind with some minor neurological issues, so he's very messy and skittish. I want to build him an awesome new setup that meets his special needs and your tank is great inspiration! Timmy is adorable!

Tip for a future background like that, you can use a drill and a wire brush bit to give more detail and roughness to the foam before painting.

Turtles are very good climbers, I’d recommend adding a small rim to the back of the tank where the background is, or just a lid, but glass does filter out some uv so be careful.

I love when we go to the shop! Good choice of a companion for Timmy.
I highly recommend adding a slight hang over glass across the back. Like a permanent lid, about 3in wide, to prevent him from climbing out. Don't underestimate him.

Never in my years would I have guessed MD to have been a Warhammer fan, heck yeah!!
I love the new Timothy Tank! When my son was a youngster, he and father found a baby snapping turtle. It was as big as a US quarter. He should have been hibernating and would not make it through the winter. They brought him home and set up a tank. We kept him through the winter and let him go in the spring when it was safe. We released him at the same place as he was before.

Would recommend putting a little glass/plastic lip by the top back edge of the tank, to prevent timmy from climbing out. Great video and a beautiful practical setup!🤘

When you said warhammer I think my heart skipped a beat, I love both of this hobby and AoS.
I used the same type of foam on my tank & covered it with black sandblasting sand while wet. It looks like black lava rock. Love it.

Looks great! In the US we have some stuff called drylock and I tint it with concrete stain to achieve the colors I want. You can apply it directly to the foam and forget about the cement step. You may have something comparable across the pond, but I don't know.

Similar to my tank I use a floating feeding ring with suction cup so my turtle nows where the food is and neon tetra which are impossible too catch great contrast against the green plants loving the setup❤

You could get a peace of Perspex cut to the size of the inside at the back, and then do it all on the top of that then slide it in the tank when finished

my baby red ears love to dig up the rocks in their tanks to the point where they move them acros the tank.
Turtles dont stop growing.
Their growth just slows down a lot when they are a few years old.

I use this technique for my terrariums. I tint the concrete / grout mix in small batches to save the painting step.
I’ll also use the spray foam as well as carve insulation foam for a rocky look
I have Odessa barbs and think they are beautiful fish and don't bother my other barbs. Timmy's scape is absolutely gorgeous!! Such a great job MD.🐢🐢
