Intro:
FPSRussia isn’t spoken about too much today, but you know, I think he should be. It’s hard to think of a better example of a creator who could create content catered to popular interests, while uploading videos whose style probably wouldn’t have worked on any other platform besides CZcams. Yes, I have a hunch if the gents over at Sons of Guns suddenly started putting on slightly subpar Russian accents, the producers over at the Discovery Channel may have been rather unimpressed. Though honestly, it'd be the least of their worries considering what happened with the host of that show. However, for those who are a bit newer to the platform, you may not be completely familiar with the background of today’s subject: FPSRussia: aka Kyle, so the next five minutes or so will be focused on that.
Like every creator, FPSRussia did have an extensive history on the platform, starting on the extremely catchy name klm5986. He was originally a gaming channel, who went by the name FPS Kyle. I assume at some point he decided that what happened if he did gaming, but with a Russian accent, and thus FPSRussia was born, because initially this was also a gaming channel, a gaming channel that performed relatively well. Hell, there was even the odd comment that he was about to reach success, and boy did he, but probably not in the way that people predicted.
Apparently finding out that this accent was fake, was like finding out Santa wasn’t real. Well kids, if you’re watching this, Santa is as real as this accent, do what you want with that statement.

This was a more casual video that was delayed a couple weeks back, thought I’d release it before Christmas as a little extra, hope people enjoy it. You might not know this about the American justice system, but now that he's a convicted felon, he can't own guns anymore, and he's lost his right to vote in elections. Personally, I'm all for violent criminals *not* having guns, but this guy wasn't a violent criminal. He was busted for weed possession. As for the right to vote thing, that's the subject of constant debate here. I'm of the opinion that once you've done your time, you should be able to vote like any other citizen. Stripping voting rights has nothing to do with crime, punishment, or rehabilitation. I'm not sure why it ever became a thing in the first place.

as someone who's been raided by a team like SWAT, I can attest as to how traumatic it is, and if you're innocent the trauma is only compounded because you see how ridiculously overpowered these teams are and how little excuse they use to have someone raided. I was "swatted" because a vengeful ex's new boyfriend thought it'd be amusing to tell crimestoppers an escaped prisoner was hiding at my house, which was untrue, i'd never heard of or seen this person in my life. Even after finding out they were baited into conducting a raid, the police refused to investigate the persons who gave this false information.
Lol, I got swatted 2 years ago for "processing heroin". The week after I moved in, wtf. They cuffed me and my friend in the front lawn for 4 hours while they searched through all the boxes I hadn't unpacked yet.

I recently took a criminal justice course in my college and my teacher was a retired police officer who had worked at the local courthouse often. He said sadly this type of thing happens far more often then you would think where people enter a plea deal because they are convinced they cant win even if they are innocent.
Look at the prosecution win ratio due to "plea deals." It's in the high 90th percentile. Most people don't realise that their "deal" will still result in their "rights" being revoked for life. A lot of people only take the "deal," because they don't have an extra 6 figures lying around to throw at legal defense. The system is pretty fucked.

Long story short : He got arrested for possession of half an ounce of marijuana and got sent to federal prison for 2 months, he beat the state case but failed his federal case. After this happened the government took over 400K worth of guns from ‘Kyle’

He offered to "plead guilty" in order to avoid risking anything up to decades of time spent in Federal jail... So he pretty much lied and in agreement with the "to avoid being jailed up to decades" part of his deal, he only got two months to be spent behind bars. That is all.

This guy almost made me die from laughter on PKA one time when he told the story of what he had to endure when he moved wings of redemption aka Richard into his home for diet control. Kyles grandfather came from Russia and had a Russian accent that Kyle picked up after years with his Grandfather... He use to talk with the accent to make fun of his grandfathers accent and that's where he got it from.... Here in Georgia, weed was decriminalized recently so hopefully his record is cleared
His charges in Georgia were dropped because it was all pretty obviously trumped up. So the feds took the case up and because of the types of weapons he had they didn't need a warrant. His guns were confiscated and according to him were likely destroyed by the feds. (About $400G worth) he got time in a federal prison. The charges were federal, not state so regardless of what the state does he was convicted on the federal level.

Unfortunately the US justice system in some states are extreme currupt. As you pointed out, for some reason they wanted him. They wanted to lock him away and were going to find any way to do that. He could have fought it, but that would have been thousands of dollars in legal fees and he still might not have gotten an unbiased judge.
Yeah when a case gets news attention, or is somewhat high profile, the police and the prosecutors want to put their suspect in jail no matter what because they all get promotions and shit. Just look at the “Balloon Boy” case, Internet Historian a 2 good videos on him.
Still, disregarding the idea that he was being actively hunted by the government; He still broke the law. His gun permission was revoked via the simple fact that he broke a law and had weed. Pretty much almost every state in America has a law like that. "Commit a felony or higher" and your guns get snatched. It seems HELLA unfair, but it's the law. The justice system might not be perfect, but you forget that it's the one thing keeping you safe sometimes. He might not have done anything with the guns, but some state laws consider a felon a threat and that he could do it again, or do something worse.

The fact that a nonviolent, victimless act like pot smoking is a felony that can remove many of your rights as a citizen is just bullshit. @@047Kenny Oh, I've definitely seen a couple of his videos back in the day, but I wouldn't recognize him by name. I just got really into youtube about a year ago.
FPS Russia is.. Well was a CZcams titan back in the day. Even I, A British guy with no interest in firearms at all, would religiously wait for his uploads and learn so much about weapons after seeing him shoot one. He had this personality and charisma about him that just drew you in and kept you there. That along with his daring showing of weapons, his humour and his character as a whole was peak CZcams at the time too.
If there are still videos, I haven't look in years, you should check them out. It's literally just peak early/mid 2010's CZcams with guns. It was also just fun as hell to watch him shoot stuff, blow stuff up, make stupid jokes, do some questionable insane daring things as well. Although we all questioned if he would end up killing himself in an accident. That aside though, he was a good content creator with a very loyal fanbase that are still waiting for him to return to this day.

Been watching fps Russia since I was a kid and only recently discovered the person behind the character. Fps Kyle is honestly my favourite person the last few days I've noticed he's been on the podcast. Honestly amazing person could listen to him talk all day his prision story's are amazing too. I don’t like this new CZcams so much. In the past, it embraced its business model ‘Broadcast yourself’ so much more than it does today. Creators are more or less subject to the algorithm and short lived trends. Many popular videos don’t have the same level of charm and creativity that many older videos on the site had. I also don’t like the cynical and critical nature that many creators now have. It’s also unfortunate to see creators that act hostile towards others frequently and show vanity as well as general unpleasantness become popular. The website works at its best when the people on it are having fun. It’s a real shame the website’s climate is currently like this. It’s not a good place to be.
CZcams I think is at an end. Not like this year end but its very close.
Theres a few of those creators left. For example Critikal from Penguinz0 has never changed. Corporations stole CZcams from da people
@@JGriffin5150 He did change though. I'm not saying I don't still enjoy his content greatly but his channel wasn't always edited reuploads of his streams in which he reacts to videos. His older videos seemed more self-contained and purposeful. Again, I still love the Moist Man himself but he isn't exactly making the same content that he did years ago.

It's now a corporate platform with little free speech. There's definitely a lot of negativity among the users and creators alike. It starts to feel like facebook/twitter honestly. Pretty much the entire platform is for the pursuit of money, which isn't a bad thing in itself, but it take precedent and influence over the contents.

Excellent video. I really dig how you put it all together. Lots to comment on but my favorite takeaway is how you touched upon how the system is so broken. Forcing a plea deal on trumped up charges is so crazy. Meanwhile, the real bad guys are running around with no worries. Very frustrating.

FPSRussia may be the greatest CZcams channel ever made. Back in 2010/2011, there was nothing quite like FPSRussia. The community was one of the best of any major YT channel. There was never a dull video. You could rewatch a video dozens of times and it would never get old or feel boring. FPSRussia was the channel that everyone of your friends at school watched. It stands at the top of the best YT channels ever made. Good things never last forever, so enjoy them while you can. Best wishes to Kyle, and I hope he's able to somehow find a way to bring back FPSRussia.

If memory serves some of the guns he had required a class 3 license, and a condition of that license is inspection by the ATF. He really could have been canned without a warrant because no matter the state level laws on weed, it's a federal offense. A federal LEO can arrest anyone in Colorado etc if they wanted to.
@@FM4AMGV Class 3 doesn't require inspection, only that you pay the tax every year. Sometimes your sales inventory will be audited for discrepancies. Kyle was a class 3 dealer, but his property was not searched by the ATF for inspection, they searched it for an investigation and when that didn't yield results, local sheriff got an informant to snitch on him or otherwise spied on him regarding the weed to get probable cause for the warrant and busted him for the weed.

Kyle Meyers’s legal troubles seem to have concluded now, on June 19, 2019, Myers accepted a plea deal and was sentenced to two years probation and two months in halfway house, and a moderate fine.
After serving his sentence he has returned and is back on the PKA Gaming Podcast

This is case and point about how the government “stacks the book” against a person in order to get them to plea, instead of taking up the courts time in a jury trial. At the end of the day the jury is instructed to follow the “letter of he law” not their feelings.
